Getting Our Licks In!

I took a break on Friday, did Crossfire cardio circuit/Plyo Tabata and core yesterday, and Slow and Heavy Triceps and Biceps today. May try one of the new XTRAIN workouts tomorrow. Will have to take a look at the different rotations. Got all my Christmas decorations inside the house taken down and stored away yesterday. Right now we are watching the Seattle/Washington football game.

Love the new picture Janie. And so relieved and happy for you and Joey wrt the skin cancer results. I think you guys were due a little good news.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
Michelle

Janie i understand life gets n the way. Family comes first! Im soo happy about Joey .. Im so releived.
Hi michellenice job on,crossfire that one is hard for me.
I am on day 6 of rotation! You guys i always get distracted and want to do something else but im staying focused. I feel i needd one more day of cardio though, i may add on one of the weight day a walk at lunch or quick jog when i get home. Im not sure yet. I cant believe i am still on it lol i am praying i keep going.

First day trying out XTRAIN. I did premix 1 from disc 7 (I thin), all out low impact HIIT and core. Super fun workout. Now, I'm looking forward to doing another. I'm thinking SuperCuts tomorrow.

ReneeP: don't get distracted; stay with the rotation. I know it is tempting to stray but I've become a real believer in Cathe's rotations (I'm assuming that you are doing either the rotation that Cathe put together for you or one of the XTRAIN rotations). She definitely thinks through the rotations very carefully and you will see results over time (not very long of a time either). So stick with whatever you are doing. I know it is hard because there are so many great Cathe workouts and so little time.

Janie: are you back to exercising this week? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on XTRAIN.

Hi to Laura!
Have a great day all!
~michelle

Today was the beginning of my 30 day XTrain rotation. I did Disk 7 All Out Low Impact Hiit using premix 2. It has chest work in it. Sweated and I thoroughly enjoyed this workout. Was 53 min. long. I can tell my right arm is so much weaker than my left. So far so good.

Good night all

okay!!! So far i am in week 2 day 2 of Xtrain and i am so happy i am sticking to an orderly reutine. a real rotation.. i start off with one and have the best intentions only to get distracted by a step aerobics or somehting not on the list then i get comfused of what i am supose to do then i am siting for 15 minutes looking at my dvds. lol
So it is refreshing to NOT think about what wo to do that day i look at the list for the day and do it, i have to say i have way more energy doing this then i did following my own sorta mess.. Does anyone know what im talking about? I usualy do my own thing and i am so tired but doing the rotation so far i am energized!! why is that? Is it because it gives my body the proper what ever for that day or what?
love it so far oh guess what???? i see some shoulder bump when i look down my shoulder too lol, i have been lifting but i am seeing some...something going on!
So yes Michelle and Janie you guys may be right after all..Cathes rotations are working lol
I also have a sore butt right now i did the 100 reps i could only do 20# adn i did only 75 reps but i went til i couldnt do it without proper form.. Trying to stay injury free.. I will look better, feel better and be healthier before summer!
Sooo Michelle how are you liking Xtrain? what have you done so far and Janie you to how do you like so far?

Yesterday I was struck with DOM's so bad that it looked like I had diapers on when I walked. Failed the Toilet test measurably. I had to hold on to a counter top for support. LOL! I couldn't do my workout properly, so I rested the whole day. Today I promised myself to catch up and so I did. This afternoon Disc 9 Tabatacise premix 1 with back exercise and tonight AOLIH premix 4 shoulders. I was so proud of myself for staying true. YaHoo! So far my elbow is doing just fine. It's the biceps work when I will be very very careful.

ReneeP, I'm so proud of you being so true to yourself. That's the way to do it! You are an inspiration! I love rotations too because you don't have to think about it, just do it. I know exactly what you are talking about. Yea! A shoulder bump, congratulations! Yahoo! You are doing so well. Great job on the 100 reps and modified. That is my middle name.

Laura and Michelle, How are you doing? Is everything OK?

Take care ladies,

Janie

Lol Janie im so happy ur elbow isnt bothering u. And sorry but lol about walking likeu have a diaper! And yay for DOMS!
Im doing legs today 80 min ug i am kinda dreading it lol only because i can only do so many reps and stop and watch cathe lol then get back again lol im not pausing it or id never get finished. Im going in doing til it burns stop a few seconds do more. My goal is to get closer to finishing evety rep witb cathe and have the bedt form. My pf is still doing well i told you guys the pf pain shifted to ankle after it poped didnt i? Strange but any way it did hurt for a while remember, but then it disappeared however i feel my ankle when i do over the top of step long ways. But it was only a twinge so anyway im being careful.
Have great dY

Here I am. This week just got busy and I haven't been good about checking in. I tried SuperCuts on Wednesday and Burn Sets Chest, Back, and Shoulders yesterday. Wasn't able to exercise Tuesday or today. :( I really feel like a cardio tomorrow but not sure what to do. Maybe Hardstrikes....

ReneeP: I think doing a Cathe rotation makes life so much easier for exactly the reason you state: I don't have to figure out which routine to do. Plus Cathe has already done the hard work to put together a rotation that will bring you results. What's not to like about that?

Janie: yes, I have found that these new workouts create a whole new type of DOMS. I haven't felt it in the legs as much as the upper body and core. But that's the glory of a Cathe workout.

It is supposed to be like springtime here this weekend--in the 60s. I'm guessing that ReneeP who is more south than me will have it a little warmer. Ripken is doing okay. Sometimes he seems gimpier than other times. Sometimes, he shows glimmers of his younger days. I'm focusing on enjoying our time with him, whatever his disposition. I haven't seen any real signs of pain or discomfort although sometimes he just looks very tired (usually when his day of napping is interrupted). At night, after dinner and before bedtime, I spend alot of time laying on the floor with him just looking into his eyes and petting him. He is such a good boy.

Awh michelle thats sweet, isnt it wonderful to look in there eyes? I mean really i always wonder what they think. Both our dogs we have seem so human at times.
Man i hope u guys are enjoying these workouts.. I havnt even tried tabata or supercuts or ride yet. Im staying focused on whats on the paper lol. Man i did alittle better today on the reps..not alot but somewhat.

Can't believe how much my legs have gotten better. It's like night and day. Tonight did Hard Strikes prem. 3, 71 min. Woe! That was so hard modified and kept moving is all I could do. Until the end.

ReneeP, I'm with you I'm enjoying my rotation and detering after another workout just yet. Your plan on doing legs today sounds really good. How did it go for you? Glad you are felling a little better with pf. Continue to be careful. You are doing so good.

Michelle, Great for doing SuperCuts on Wedn. and Burn Sets Chest, Back, and Shoulders yesterday. Wow, Spring and in the 60's where you are. Must be soooooo nice. Aw, give old Ripken a long pet and playtime for me. Such a love bug he is.

Take care,

Janie

The weatherman has hidden the 60 degree weather that he forecasted. Only about 50--which is still pretty good for January, but I was really looking forward to a couple of 60+degree days. Oh well. HardStrikes today. Wow! Loved the cardio part--burned on the upper body and core. I got through 5 sets of those situp-pushup thingys. I cannot keep up with Cathe and crew on those, so I just go at my own pace. After I finish checking in, I'm going to take little Rippy for a walk before the football games start. I'm hoping I can get him to cuddle up with me on the floor for a bit while we watch the games.

Janie and Renee: sounds like we are all enjoying Cathe's new workouts.

ReneeP: I'm cheering for you as you stick with the 90-day rotation. Just think, by the time you are done it will be spring! And I'm looking forward to hearing what kind of results you see.

Janie: Don't know how you exercise at night. I'm a morning or early afternoon exerciser. And I'm wondering: did you really post at 2:42 Saturday morning or does the Forum posting timer operate on ET so you were really posting at 11:42 pm Friday night?

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday.
~michelle

Janie u did 70 min of hardstrikes? Wow. Nice job.
Michelle thanks for cheering me on, i need it . So far so good got tomorrow to go and then rest day yaaaaa!
HS today i added on tabata heavy bag. No i dont have heavey bag but i used my military duffle bag full of my cloths in a chair my stability ball behind chair in a box to keep it i place btween a cabinet. Hard to explain but it worked some. I wanted longer cardio but i was afraid if i pick 70 min or 50 it would b repeating something and i dont want to repeat at all. It came in at 46 min i only did one and half tabatas. I will need to do more next time if i can keep my bag from sliding down the chair. Lol.
I however ate crap today. I was in callorie range but i ate stuff with yuky fat and grease. Yuk not good.
Oh i also had a head ache to. But it is ttom so it may b hormone related

I was procrastenating all day when to do my exercises. It is 70 min. and just felt I couldn't do leg blasts for that long of time. So, took a rest day today and will do a different prem. same bicep muscles just not so long on the blasts and it's 45 min instead. I have to listen to my body. I'll get the endurance soon, but not there yet. Don't want to cause any injuries.

Michelle, I certainly am enjoying these new workouts. There are so many ways to do them. Wow! Aw, you are right 50 degrees is really nice. Ooo Those sit up pushup are crazy! Love them too. Cathe seems to tell us to go at our own pace, so you did good. You are so good to Ripken. Love that doggie. I did do a workout that was pretty late at night, I think I was done about 11 pm, took a bath and then posted it. I think I got to bed about 1am that day. I'm a night person and My Joey wakes up about 1am or so. LOL But, when I get up we have around 12 hours together during the day. That's plenty of time for each other. LOL It works. I think I put the time on for PNW time, hmmmm. LOL:rolleyes:

ReneeP, Great job on HS. I love that one. And also good job on the added tabata heavy bag. O I just love the bag! I have one and it's nice to be able to use it. Never thought of a duffel bag. Brilliant! Every now and then I think we all are allowed to indulge. For me though, I have to make sure it's long in-between.

Take care,

Janie

Janie what rotation are u doing that, all the wo are 70 minutes? Ouch. I have one,it is 80 min it is legs. Not leg blast. I think if i did cardio leg blast longer... Ouch!
Oh well make surd if u use duffle bag you fill it all thw way up. And i have to,figer a way to lift it uo higher then the chair hum. DH might hang it up some how. Hum.

Happy Sunday. We are still in the fog here. The temperature has gone over 50 but it is so foggy and it looks like it is going to be dreary/rainy here most of the week. Oh well--better rain than snow and ice. I am really not sure how Ripken will do in any significant snow and we both slip and slide on ice, so I am okay with rain through the winter. I did burn sets premix2, bis, tris, and core this morning. I really struggle with the arm exercises where Cathe uses the tubing. Of course my tubing is brand new and pretty resistant so I get through about 3-4 reps and my arms just give in--at which point I pick up weights and keep doing the exercise using weights.

Janie: you and Joey are both night owls, just opposite parts of the night! One of the things that I like about XTRAIN are all the premixes at different time lengths. It really makes it hard NOT to exercise when you have so many choices. I think the more Cathe produces new workouts, the better she gets at designing workouts and premix options that deal with the number one reason people usually have for not working out: don't have time. She pretty much takes that one away. She also takes away the boredom factor. Who could get bored with all these workouts?

ReneeP: using your military duffle bag for a heavy bag is a pretty good idea. I don't have a heavy bag or a military duffle bag. Sister really likes the heavy bag workouts. She, of course, has a heavy bag. Are you doing the 90-day undulating XTRAIN rotation or the 90-day XTRAIN low impact series rotation? It sounds like you are doing the undulating one, but I just wanted to be sure.

~michelle

Hi Michelle, i aam doing the undulating rotation.
Today is low impact HIIT. I think i have done it once but not sure if i liked it or not ... I dont do well on disk. Hurts the knees, so i do it without.
It has been 70 degree here for two days ! After i do my exercise im going to go see my sons place, he moved out a few weeks ago and he wants us yo see his place. Im hoping DH goes to!

Tonight was XTrain disc 6 Cardio Leg Blast Premix 5 with burn set bi's. Loved this workout. So far this rotation is very good for me. Went lighter than I would like but I have no more problems with my elbow. YEAH! Waiting that long (more than 2 months) was very worth it. Now, steady as she goes.:)

ReneeP, I'm doing 30 day cardio strength combined. Most are over an hr. However, if I don't want to do that particular premix I can change it to something not so long. Love this new series! I've been fortunate and was able to find a bag years ago. It's nice to be able to use it. Were you able to visit with your son?

Michelle, I agree about being able to chose different lengths of premixes and not having any excuse not exercising. Cathe is amazing for so many reasons and listening to her fans! If your weather is over 50 to me that's good weather. Fog or not and yep better than ice. ;) Great job on burn sets premix2, bis, tris and core. You did what you could until failure. Modifying from band to weight is a good idea.

Take care ladies,

Janie
