Getting Our Licks In!

I'm home! It's so beautiful in the Hawaiian Islands. It's like a different planet from where I live. LOL

Joey's brother died the day before we got to The Hawaiian Islands. His funeral was the following Mon. and when Joe and I were in this beautiful place in Maui we prayed, cried and remembered this wonderful spirit of a man at the same time as the people in MI were giving the funeral for him. Rest In Peace Walt McBride. You will be remembered for your generosity, kindness... and so many more attributes that made YOU. Wished there were more people on earth like you.

I've read all the inputs and I'm glad everyone is still working out as best you can. I DIDN'T! LOL However we did do a lot of walking, hiking swimming and beach combing.
Here are just a few photos of where we stayed. Imagine a 6,700 sq. foot house. Yep, no mistake it was a 6,700 sq. foot house with 5 master bedrooms with a lanai for each one. Also the house had a swimming pool with a jacuzzi...an so much more. I also heard Cher and The Dixie Chicks stayed there as well. Can you believe that?!? It's called Bali Hale near Lahaina in Maui. That's a mouthful! LOL Amazing place.

This was our bedroom

This was our outside shower (all the bedrooms have this). It also has a lounge chair and many other wonderful things I can't show in one photo.

407150967.jpg

This was the lanai off our bedroom.

Swimming pool with jacuzzi at sunset. Can you see the ocean? It was almost all the way around us! 180 degrees!

This was so amazing and a once in a life time opportunity the kids did for Joey's 75th birthday. They do love us don't they? Wow!

I'm not doing a workout today. Instead just catching up and trying to get back in sync.

Just had to share this wonderful memory with you all.

Take care ladies. It's so good to be back home and to be back at the forums!

Looks like rain outside my window. We haven't had any in four days--it has been so wet, it was nice to have a break. Yesterday I did Low Impact Step and Ab circuits #1. A good workout. Today, I was thinking Yoga Relax, but then I decide I wanted to kick things us, so I tried The Viper on The Terminator dvd. OMG! 80 minutes of major sweating. It has four cycles: a cardio from cardio & weights, an interval and blast from IMAX2, and then weight work from muscle endurance. I went through two towels for all the sweat and I've been drinking lots of water all day to rehydrate. Maybe, yoga relax tomorrow?

Janie: welcome back. It sounds like you had a wonderful vacation. The pictures are beautiful. My sincerest condolences to you and Joey on the passing of his brother. May he rest in peace and may good memories bring you joy in having known him.

Janie!! so beautiful I am so glad you had a great time!! that is awesome to stay at a place like that!! I am so excited for you!! Memories huh? lol love it!!
I am so sorry to hear about Joeys brother! Death is so hard but at least his pain is ended.. it is still so confusing at times about death, I still cant wrap my mind around it. I try not to think to much about it I tend to get to obsessive about it I think.

Michelle, holy cow the viper sounds like torture!!! I think maybe that should be the name of it? I love cardio and weights and I also like the IMAX 2 but I don't know about all that!! lol Way to go!! I would probably do a yoga to!! ha ha

well, Ladies!!! I did a two mile jog today , then I did a light toning dvd. I wanted total body but nothing to heavy because I had a headache yet again!!

So I did the 20 minute upper body on the body fusion DVD, it was a premix and then the 20 minute lower body premix, I did it a few times before, but felt it was too easy, but I upped the weights to be more challenging, and it was a nice total body workout!!!
I was surprised, I used red tubing so it was heaviest tube, then I used 10 pounds for the rest of the exercises and it was just right!! not to heavy and I sweated some, but not like MM and it helped my headache!! amazing what a workout can do!!
I will do that again, I am thinking ill do it once a week, then a total body heavy once a week like MM or STS TB.

I am still thinking of what color to paint my family/exercise room. It basically is an exercise room, I have to big mirrors on wall and I have all my stuff in there. So I was reading Orange evokes energy and I really think a soft orange will be great for the cardio, and weight dvds and I even think once I turn a lamp on and cut the over head off it will be a soft orange for yoga practices. If I get a darker orange I may do one wall in white. As the orange will be the main one but white may make it look not as bright. But I am just stuck on the right shade or orange, I saw one at Lowes today it was called orange dream, I am not sure yet. Same for my bath trying to find the perfect green and my bedroom the perfect tan and one wall is going to be chocolate, but like I said so many times before I am not sure of the shade yet. It is hard to find when you are looking at them all at the same time. I cant wait to get it finished!! :D

This morning was Total Body Sculpting and in the afternoon was Low Impact Step. All in all, a great time with workouts today.

Thank you for your condolences about Joey's brother, we appreciate that more than you know.

Michelle, Great job on Low Impact Step and Ab circuits yesterday. And today's "The Viper"! Yowza! I've never done that one at all. Sounds awesome with all the sweating going on. LOL You did good.

ReneeP, Great job on the two mile jog and the light toning, and sorry you had a headache. Oh, I see the workout helped your headache. Good! I think what ever colors you choose for your rooms will be wonderful. You are such a colorful person so how could you go wrong. ;) When you are finished please post pictures, would love to see it.

Take care lovely ladies,

Janie

So, instead of yoga (which still sounds good), I opted for the IMAX3 intervals only workout and ab circuits #9 which is PowerHour abs. I'm trying to get yet another paper done and when I get in the last few days of crunching away my brain just doesn't shut down. So, sleep is not so great right now. I was up from 12:30 to 2:30 this morning--at least I figured out how to organize the last half of my paper, so it was a productive two hours.

Janie: LIS and TBS are good workouts for getting back in the swing of things.

ReneeP: I have a a tan color that I love. If I remember, I will send you the color code (I keep those written down). Not sure about the orange. I like the color orange but not sure on my walls. I'm more into peach tones for a paint color. But I can see where a brighter or deeper orange would be good for a workout room. Can you get a "tester" sample and paint a small section of your wall to see if you like it? Alot of places do that these days.

Okay--back to the paper. Hope everyone has a great Monday.
Michelle

This afternoon I did Basic Step plus Lower body weight add on. Need to work on my foundation, so starting from the beginning in order to get to the harder DVD's. It's a combination of not doing exercise consistently and getting older. That's what happens when I slack off. I'll get there for sure from the basics on up. At least I don't have to learn anything new. LOL I've been pretty good staying at about 130-135 pounds, but would still someday like to weigh 125 pounds and feel good at that weight. We'll see.

Michelle, Great job on IMAX3 intervals only workout and Ab Circuits #9/Power House Abs. Aw, I know how it is when things are on your mind and trying to sleep. Insomnia is horrible! Try and get some sleep and good luck on the paper you are doing.

Take care,

Janie

Today is my early morning meeting at Quantico so Ripken and I were up and out on our walk about 35 minutes before sunrise. Seems to make a difference for him to walk in the morning before the sun comes up. Trying to shift back to a Tuesday light/rest day so I did the first stretch max routine this morning. Felt really good. I really should do a stretch every day, maybe at night before going to sleep. It makes such a difference to how my body feels which quite frankly of late, the body has been feeling old.

Janie: I now what you mean about working yourself up from Cathe's more basic dvds. Sometimes you need that mental break as well as the time to let your body reorient. You'll be back with the advanced stuff before you know it. Cathe hasn't posted a rotation for this month, so I'm thinking of taking a week from each of her July rotations for the past few years. Should provide a nice cross-section of workouts.

Michelle

Today was a rest day, and I went shopping for healthy food, nuts and oils. Also went to Costco and shopped there mainly for seafood, chicken breasts and fruit and vegies. It was so hot! It was in the mid 80's. Put everything away when I got home. I searched the internet on how to make homemade sunscreen because I'm very skeptical of the lotions in the stores. I have already bought non nano zinc oxide and made some for my Joey. However, when he puts it on he will look like a living dead person. Still, it is safe and may help with his reoccurring spouts of skin cancer. I also made him a soap with eggplant and vinegar that suppose to help prevent skin cancer as well about six months ago. With the soap it's suppose to be used daily. He doesn't. So, I feel good by researching what I can do to try and help him and doing something about it. Wished I'd remembered the zinc oxide before now, but at least it's happening now.

Michelle, Great job on the early morning walk with Ripken. Love that you make sure he is comfy. You are such a good mama. Great job on stretch max routine this morning. I think I will also stretch tonight and every night before bed. I find it helps me too.:D Yes, I think I'll take a long 3 months and use Cathe's beginner Rotation. That should make my exercise foundation good and strong again. Then planning on a month of her intermediate rotation. I'll will feel confident then to workout with the more advanced workouts. Sure this will help with injuries I've been getting. OOOOO what a great idea to take a week from each of her July rotations and making that your rotation. Great Idea!

Take care,

Janie

Janie Healthy food shopping!! yum lol

Michelle good job on walking that early!! man I bet that is wonderful to do.. I want to go in the morning like that but I am afraid of dogs!! we have a ton in the area  and they are not nice. I have to wait til I know the owners are there so they can control them or I hope they do.

Okay I did a walk yesterday only two miles I think and jog really light for a half a miles.
Today was push pull! I am so proud of myself!! :D
I know it is easy for a lot of you but when I first started with Cathe I could not do all the reps!! now I did every single rep and I used heavier weights AND I did not sweat much!! I was really surprised. I remember once thinking man I just wish I can nail a cathe workout so I can feel like I accomplished it! Well I did !! every rep whoo hoo. Most of Cathes dvd I modify here and there or I will have to take longer brakes like tabata!! ouch. But since I did x train every thing seems easier, well except To the Max and Cross fire!!

Just finished with Basic Step plus upper body hand weight add on. So glad I decided to start from the beginning. It's so cool not to have to modify at all! Before, I was truly struggling and modifying so much, it was sad:(. I was to stubborn and my pride wouldn't allow me to start over after my elbow injury. Now I'm on the right track and feel so energetic already and will take my time getting to where I was. Should be (before my elbow injury) up to par just before the Holidays, but after Halloween. Yes!

ReneeP, I'm so very proud of you! Look what you have done since we met? And you thought you would never get to that point in exercising. LOL The strides you've made are very impressive and I have to take my hat off to you how well you've done on them. Congratulations! Great job on your 2 mile walk and jog. Also on Push Pull. You should be very proud!

Janie hi !! Thank you! It seems to have taken me along time lol but you know I guess if I would have started off slow I'd have gotten there faster'! I got injured so much the first year! It was awful!
I know what u mean about pride! I didn't want to start off slow and even thiugh I hadn't exercised in five years and I gained weight my pride made me keep doing to much to fast lol I finally had to listen to my body and realize I'm not 20 or 30 anymore and that not exercising for awhile means u get back at it slowly! Lol. I am proud of you as we'll Janie you are always such an encouraging women!!!
Today I ran 3 miles then ate a gigantic bowl of spinach salad. Now I will do bis and tris burn sets!! :).
You ladies.... I hope you have a wonderful blessed filled day!!!

Quick post: Crossfire yesterday and LIS upper body trisets today. I'm doing the first week of the July 2012 rotation. I may rotate weeks between the July 2012 and 2010 rotations. Cathe doesn't always post a rotation in July--I can understand it is a busy month for her--roadtrip at the end and right now she is filming the new workouts. Have to make do--which is not hard with so many great rotations out there. Try to get back later.
Michelle

The rotation called for One segment from Total Body Stretching plus I did an extra 20 min. of Christi Taylor Humble Beginning Step. Took advantage of my energy level today. The stretching felt sooooooooooo good.

ReneeP, Yes, we do live and learn for sure. Great job on the 3 miles and your spinach salad sound so wonderful. Enjoy bis and tris burn set.

Michelle, Great job on Crossfire yesterday and LIS upper body trisets today. Your plan on the rotations sounds perfect for you. And a fantastic idea.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Well I dudnt do bi b tris lol I did a yoga instead it felt great to stretch my thighs after the jogging today I did hard strikes with burn sets Tri s felt wonderful!

Crossfire is awesome!
Janie I'm glad u asked for intermediate rotation! I know there's alot of wo she can use as intermediate like CSS and HS no conditioning, and body blast series all kinds of stuff she can put together! Yah

Well, first the walkabout this morning with Ripken: it poured rain. So, it was a wet dog walkabout. Took 3 towels to get Rippy dry. He loves being dried off. Of course it stopped raining 5 minutes after we got inside. Working like the dickens on my paper. Half of it is in good shape and I've got to go through the second half to do some revisions. Will be working most of the weekend but I can see light at the end of the tunnel. Did KPC today. It was a good break from my paper.

Janie: thank God for Cathe and her many rotations. I bet you find that you do not need to do the rotation for 3 months before you get back in the groove of things.

ReneeP: you have been doing alot of jogging lately. I'm impressed because I am not a jogger. Just not my thing. Don't worry about the weight work; you can always do that tomorrow.
Michelle

What a busy day! I won't get into it, I'm sure you all have had days like that. Whew! Tonight was Basic Step plus Abdominal routine add on.

ReneeP, Great job on yoga also on Hard Strikes with Burn Sets Tris. Also on Crossfire. It is awesome. Good for you. I do hope Cathe soon will add another Intermediate Rotation. Thanks for supporting me.

Michelle, Great job with the walking with Ripkin. So sorry it poured rain. Must have been miserable. Figures it would stop once you got inside. LOL Sounds like your paper is coming right along. Good for you. Great job on KPC today. I bet you are right about shortening the 3 month rotation. It's already getting easier. Thank goodness for Muscle Memory. Really!

Take care ladies,

Janie

Having a nice working Saturday. Yes, I'm still working on this paper. Every hour I work, I am an hour closer to having it done. I'm writing a draft final report for a study that I've been directing for almost two years. It has been a major undertaking but it is almost over. Let's just say it is a pretty long report. The main text is over 100 pages and the appendices are another 150+ pages, not to mention the list of references which most likely will be pushing 100 by the time I'm done. But this is what I do. And guess what I have waiting for me when this one goes to the editor: another paper! But my junior analyst has been doing alot of the heavy lifting on that one. Gosh, I have such tunnel vision on this paper, I forgot to mention today's workout: To The Max.

Janie: some days just get crazy, don't they? But I am happy that you got your workout in.

Hi to Renee, Laura, and Shadowpup.
Michelle

Yesterday was Lower and Upper body. Then moved to the beach house. Lifting heavy bags, going up and down stairs...

Michelle, Takes awhile to finish the paper. Glad to hear it's coming along just fine. Your directing a study and putting it on paper will much be needed. What kind of study? The length of this report sounds like a book. Great that you had time for "To The Max". Good for you!

Take care,

Janie

Lol great job on the workouts you guys!!

I did peak fit fit test today. I think I am gonna try to do this rotation then I will add burn sets so I don't lose my muscle I have gained! I am gonna give it four weeks at least and hope I don't get bored lol

Today walked the beach with Rolly for 35 min. Also fed the seagulls. Lot of fun.
Did One segment of total Body Stretching plus the ab add on.

ReneeP, Good Luck on Michelle's Peak Fit. If or when you get bored you can always do STS program. You will gain muscle and stamina, and lose weight as well. Enjoy Peak Fit, I looked at it on the computer and it looks good.

Take care,

Janie
