Getting Our Licks In!

Did TBS with Joey, I used lighter weight so it's more of a warm up for me. Did LIC and shoulders. Also took Rolly for a 40 min. walk. All was good.:D

Elle, CONGRATULATIONS! More weight is lost, I bet you are so happy. Good for you! Eating in moderation might have had something to do with that.;) Also CONGRATULATIONS! Being an Aunt. How proud you must be. How a bout some pictures? Let us know his name when he gets one.

Shoegal, I'm here, just got in from walking Rolly. Isn't it just the greatest feeling to finish a workout, especially when you struggle so. Yeah!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Shoegal, Happy Birthday to you. An many more. What are your plans for celebrating?

It was a lot of work fixing a turkey and all the trimmings, but I love putting it in the freezer for later. We usually make noodles and sandwiches...with the left overs. Yummmy.:p

Hi to everyone else and hope you all are good.

Janie

Today, I listened to my body. I was suppose to do Plyo Legs, but my legs and lower body are still recuperating from an "easy" 13 mile bike ride and IMAX 2 yesterday. Very tired am I!

My hardwood flooring arrived early, so I was busy moving furniture, and clearing space for it to sit. Then I tackled my basement. Did a major cleaning, and moving of stuff, and storing stuff away so I can create my "home gym" after the floor is laid, which isn't until next week. In the mean time I needed to create space downstairs for the furniture yet to be moved. I am actually rather excited about using the downstairs as my home gym, I think, more then I am about the new hardwood floors! lol

Later is Karate. Hope I find the groove like I did last time.

Turkey sounds yummy. Gardening, sounds, well, lets just say its not for me.

Michelle is working, and gets pretty busy sometimes and forgets to check in. Though, I agree, its really not like her to go this long.

Had some time and was wondering how ya all were doing.

Renee, Good weather has a lot to do with doing too much activity. LOL:D I can see why you are so tired.

Also getting new flooring will make you do yet more activities. How cool to be able to have your own gym. Congratulations!

Tell Michelle hi for us, and that we miss her.

Janie

Just to clear up the hardwood floor...its not for my "home gym". Its for my great room, which consists of kitchen, dining and living area. I re-read my post and it seemed a bit confusing. My basement, which is finished off, right below my great room, will become the "home gym", so its a fairly big space.

Last night Karate was great. Master Ally invited me into the leadership program. He is very impressed with my effort and good form. I got to stay an extra 20 minutes to do kicks and hammer strikes...breaking boards! It was so cool. Now these boards are grooved, and can be put back together to do again, to be re-kicked etc. But it was such a blast. I am really enjoying American Freestyle Karate.

Yesterday all I did was core and stretch. My body feels much better after a "rest". Today, I have no clue what I will do. Plyo Legs, since I missed it, or cardio, or both! Of course I will do something but time will tell.

Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; while others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than before.

Have a wonderful day!

This week i was really not feeling like doing my planned Cathe workouts. I've really been missing yoga since i've only been getting it in 1-2X/week since getting back to Cathe in May. On Tuesday i had Muscle Endurance scheduled but i was craving some yoga instead so i decided to listen to myself and did yoga.

I usually do my own practice but for some reason i had Ali MacGraw's Yoga Mind & Body in my head so i dusted that off and did it for the past two days. I felt great afterwards and it was nice to change up my yoga routine too.

Yesterday afternoon the weirdest thing happened here. We had an Earthquake?!?!?! I was sitting at my desk at work and felt rumbling below me but i wasn't sure what was happening. I though it may be the construction outside or someone working on the floor below. It got worse for a few seconds and that was it. I could see people in the building beside mine running outside. It's weird because i live in the Toronto area and this isn't a fault line but apparently people felt it all the way to Quebec.

Shoegal: Have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Wishing you all the best for the day and many more to come. Plan ahead so you don't go overboard on the food at your nephew's graduation but don't deprive yourself either!;)

DH and I ran home - and he then went on to the store quickly while I tried to get a workout in. I managed to do the majority of ASC 1 with Amy - and I did pretty well. Just read some quick tips on how to keep the mind sharp - and one is exercise along with learning something new - I think complex choreography in step is just the ticket!! Wow - the benefits I am reaping. Amy does her usual - teaches the hard stuff one time through very very quickly - and then manages to run through the easy steps 10 times over. I find that incredibly annoying. Rex says I should write her a letter but this is typical Amy Bento.

Rex comes home from the store with a dozen pink roses & a cake for me :):D and also in a state of panic:p. He says we need to leave the house in 11 minutes - and that he doesn't have time to wrap presents or anything else. Ok - no big deal. He takes me to see Toy Story 3 - and wants to see it in 3D (which doesn't matter to me AT ALL) but gotta love him - he was really trying and that is all that matters. 3D is cool though - liked it alot - and Toy Story 3 is excellent - I was sobbing at the end - great story - and so touching too. Afterwards we went to Primanti's (Pittsburgh original - has anybody heard of it?) - went there because it was the only thing open at 10:30pm around there. I had such a nice time - great birthday. Thanks for the good wishes Janie and Elle!!

Elle - EARTHQUAKE!!! Well that doesn't happen everyday. You have to be grateful it wasn't destructive and that you are alright. I actually did alright at the restaurant - but you are right about planning ahead. I read the tips for eating out on the WW website - and they said that too.

Hope you all have a great day.

Put two gardens to bed since we won't be here to take care of it. Took about 2 hrs to put black sheeting on top of them. Rolly helped of course. Then weeded the asparagus patch and walked Rolly. Got a lot accomplished.

Renee, Silly me:eek:, I must have read your post wrong. Anyhoo, All sounds so wonderful for you.

Karate just sounds like so much fun too! I'm impressed.

Elle, Good for you listening to your body and doing yoga. Do what you want anyway and enjoy the process. You are working so hard and as you know, is working.:) I love Ali yoga workout.

We heard about your earthquake, that truly is uncommon. I'm glad it wasn't more than 5 point something.

Shoegal, Great job on your workouts and keeping the mind sharp. I need more of that. (keeping the mind sharp.)

Awe, that is so nice of Rex to bring home flowers and cake and to see a movie. I'd say he did it! How sweet is that? I bet you had fun. And then to Primanti's afterward. Wow, sounds like you had a wonderful birthday.

Janie

Wow--I don't know what's happened to me this week. I'm acting team leader and covering two jobs. By the end of the day, I'm not sure what I've done  (if anything useful and productive, in particular) but the days have gone by quickly. The good news is that my exercise routine has not suffered nor have my walkabouts with Ripken. Ripken, of course, always comes first. Since we are experiencing August weather in June (90+ degrees and humid), Ripken and I have been getting up a little earlier to minimize the effect of the weather on him as we walk. This also means I've been getting my exercise in a little earlier in the day which is not a bad deal. This morning I did Bootcamp and it seemed a little easier, except for those squat thrust mountain climbers. Thank you Cathe!

Shoegal: happy birthday, one day late:eek:. I had a mental reminder going and then I forgot. Rex was very cute and sweet about your birthday. Sometimes our DHs are like that.

Elle: an earthquake sounds scarey. I don't think I would care for that one bit. The last time things shook around here (specifically at my office in Alexandria VA) was on 9/11 when the plane crashed into the Pentagon. Needless to say, we don't want to relive that type of event again either. My home is fairly close to Marine Corps Base Quantico and sometimes when the new officers are firing heavy ordnance at The Basic School, the house can shake pretty good, but those times are few and far between.

Hello to everyone else.
~Michelle

HOLLY MOLLY EARTHQUAKES & BIRTHDAYS!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Happy B-day Shoegal! So glad you had a good time! I need to take the girls to Toy Story 3!

Elle: earth quakes sound intense! It does seem like those titanic plates are shifting around a lot lately!

Catchick: I am glad you listened to your body and took an active rest day! Sometimes we need that and you have been doubling up a lot lately!

Janey: you and Rolly sound so cute together! Good job on the yard/ garden work, the workouts and the walks.

Michelle been super busy over here as well although mine is purely social!:rolleyes:

So wedding's done and now I am in the chilly PNW~! Been keeping up with my workouts the best I can, but with not teaching my classes it has been less than the normal load. However I did get a run in yesterday and 3 walks, and today went to a local gym and did my STS Meso 3 week 1 from my card. I had to up the weights though on shoulders and triceps but go down a little on biceps. I actually think my body is liking the lower intensity and I have built up some strength. My run, which I haven't done here since last Spring, I totally rocked! The hills barely effected me and I had so much energy at the end I could do a full on sprint! So I am not feeling bad for pulling back on the throttle a little bit! I just need to watch all the food and alcohol that happens with parties and vacations!

Good day!

Today is my official "rest" day, so for some odd reason, I decided to do Kick Punch Crunch! My kicks were not up to par, had to actually skip the kicks in the drills due to fatigue and soreness in my right quad and hip flexor. I'm thinking it has everything to do with Karate, but thats okay. I will survive! If I am not feeling some soreness or DOMS somewhere then something is wrong! LOL!

I'm hoping to get over to my friends pool today or tomorrow. Maybe both!

Nothing exciting to report. Just the same ol' summer routine right now.

Have a great Friday!

~Renee

Did TBS with Joey and I using lighter weight and used it for a warm up. Took Rolly out for 45 min. walk and did the Wedding video all the way through. Consisted of about 45-50 min. step and a full body weight workout.

Getting packed for the family reunion and will be back Sunday sometime. Monday will pack for the family reunion in Las Vegas. Will leave Tuesday and will come home towards the end of July. Not sure exactly when we will be home, too many variables in place. Should be tons of fun!

Hope to have some time to post before we leave for Vegas, if not will talk later once we get there. Then will report how it's going in Vegas. In-between times there will be lots of traveling.

Take care everyone and enjoy the beautiful weather, your workouts and each other.

Hello from the cold, chilly and grey PNW~!;) Not a very nice day, so we went to town for breakfast while my mom's house had a showing. I ordered the special fratta, which seemed like one of the healthier things on the menu at the local diner. It was spinach, mushrooms, green onions and parmesan, so seemed like a good choice! But it hit my tummy like a million ton brick! I had to lie down and take a nap after, even though I only ate 1/2 of it! I guess they must add a ton of fat or something to it! When you get used to cleaner eating you just can't eat anything!

I managed to get the Squat rack Meso 3 week 1 workout in and MMA KB as well so feeling better now!

Renee: hmmmm I would not consider KP&C a rest workout! Remember the rests are as important as the workouts to prevent injury and to build muscle and endurance!! Have fun with the karate!

Janey: have a wonderful time with all of your family and enjoy VEGAS!! (and the sun and heat:D}}

Good morning everyone. Not much morning left and I need to get motivated to do something. I did make the bed and cleaned one of the bathrooms and Ripken and I have gone on two walks this morning.

Yesterday, I had a bit of a scratchy throat and I'm thinking--I don't want to get sick. I worked a half day yesterday and then slugged home in traffic from hell. DH had the truck loaded and as soon as I changed, we headed to the boat. DH made me a mount gay and coke with lime and after sipping on that, I fell asleep for 2 hours, got up, ate dinner, and then went right to bed. My throat is not sore today so I'm hoping I've kicked whatever was trying to invade my body.

Going to be a scorcher of a weekend here in the mid-Atlantic. We do have a very light breeze that has kicked up and is making it slightly more bearable outside. But jeesch! You know it's hot when everyone says a high of 90 is cooler. We are suppose to get well beyond that mark today and tomorrow.

Laura: saw your pictures on facebook. Boy, the girls sure are growing. Nice pictures with you and your mom.

Janie: off to Vegas! Have a great time--I guess this will be Rolly's first trip?

Sister: KPC huh? Guess what I've got sitting in the bag for today? Yup, KPC.

Hi to Shadowpup, Elle, and Shoegal.

Need to get motivated to run the vacuum and exercise.
~michelle

I motivated, vacuumed, and did KPC. Made lunch, showered, and now it's time to chill. Both of my boys are snoozing in the salon. Wish I had the camera with me. I need to remember to put it in the bag for next weekend.

Fortunately, a little breeze is blowing here, so I might be heading up on the bow in a little to catch some breeze and some rays. Took a book back to our marina library this morning (one of Janet Evanovich's harlequin romances) and traded for a Stephanie Plum mystery. Way back before Janet was rich and famous, she wrote harlequin romances under the pseudonym Steffi Hall. At that time, her husband Peter was one of my colleagues. After Janet published One for the Money and sold the movie rights, Peter gave up being a defense analyst and has been helping to cultivate Janet's book business. She's put those early books out again under her real name. It was a cute read, but I like the Plum series better. Love Grandma Mazur. She's a hoot.

I believe I have number 12 from the Stephanie Plum series waiting for me on the salon table. I've probably read it before, but so what? I just want to be entertained this afternoon.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday.
~michelle

AH, Sunday and many things to do. My great room is beginning to look, well, not so great! Wall hangings, pictures and knick knacks packed and moved, side table moved, counters cleared...oh, boy! At least its a few days and not a major move...like out of the house and into another. I hope I don't ever have to do that again in my life, but one never knows.

Yesterday at Karate I pulled my right groin, inner thigh but REAL GOOD. Iced it off and on for the majority of the afternoon, and then spent 15 minutes in my friends hot tub a couple of times. Also her pool...we had a real good time. Always a party at Lisa's. Today it feels better but not 100%. I am therefore thinking of giving my leg a complete rest from exercise today. I wanted to do step, and I tried it out and felt okay, I just think an extra 24 hours of "rest" will do it more good then not.

I have a piano lesson to give at noon. And then my other sister will be coming to help move the "big" furniture much later.

Hope everybody is doing okay.

~Renee

Also taking a break today. Resting up, trying to get rid of a small cold. I'm on business travel Monday and Tuesday of this week and I really don't want to be coughing the whole time. When I get a cold, I can hack for weeks which gets old really fast.

We'll be heading home from the boat later this afternoon. It is super hot again here in the mid-Atlantic. Even with a breeze today, it is miserable. Maybe we'll get a pop up thunderstorm. We sure could use a little rain. Otherwise, it's been an uneventful weekend.

~michelle

Hi all,

Just got back in - what a long week! And a long drive, though very beautiful scenery. So far I have been able to check on all the four footed kids, and they are well, but they are feeling quite needy! I'd best get back to them :)

Yesterday we went into Seattle. My DH was arriving early afternoon so we decided to make a day of it and went to the Seattle Aquarium. It was cold and cloudy in the morning. We had a good time at the Aquarium and then went to pick up Bo. We decided to stop by Pike's Peak Market to get some fresh fish and veggies. The sun came out and I think it was one of the first nice days in Seattle 'cause everyone was out! It was so crowded you could barley move. It was unfortunate actually because it was such a mad house that it we didn't get to enjoy it very much. Although we did get some fresh veggies and fish!:D
And the girls got to watch a very clever grey Amazon Parrot do some pretty neat tricks.

I am so sore from the STS squat rack legs! I don't think I have been this sore since I first bought Butts & Gutts in 2007!!!:eek::p:p:p:eek::eek::eek: I am still sore actually! I tried to go to the gym today but it was closed (Sunday) so stopped at a local park that has some nice trails and ran the whole thing in 28 minutes. Unfortunately I had to keep it short as we were going to a luncheon at the neighbors but it was probably just right considering how sore my legs are!

Michelle: nice to hear from you! Sorry that bug caught up with you! I hope you get some rest before you travel!

Renne: UGH hate the groin pulls! They always scare me and feel very vulnerable. Make sure you are very careful with the heavy furniture as the groin actually does a lot of stabilizing work which we only seem to notice when it's sore!!!:(

Shadowpup: welcome home again!! Go love on all your babies and then let us know what you been up to!!

Hi Janie, Shoegal and Elle!

Laura, Pike Place Market is a fantastic place to go! It is terribly busy in the Summer. It's not all that far from me and I use to practically live there when I was a younger person. You brought back so many memories! I need to visit it more often.

Michelle, do take care of that cold.

Looks like everyone is busy, enjoying Summer, working hard, traveling and enjoying all their pets.
Everyone seems like they are doing very well with their workouts. Good for you. Consistency is key and that's what I'm seeing. Now if I can only do that as well. Didn't workout since Friday and most likely won't get a chance until we reach Vegas until the 30th. But, on the 1st will be able to then.

Enjoyed thoroughly the Cooper's family reunion.:D There were some people I haven't seen literally for 18 or so years. Not family, but family friends. They were invited too. It was so nice seeing them. My 10 year apart younger brother is a grandpa (by marriage). Yikes! Seems so odd. There are marriages planned, babies on the way, and colleges for the young to attend. I'm an artist and one of my nephews looked up to me for encouragement and my opinion on his artwork. I was so honored. He was so good at his young stage of being an artist.

Don't have a lot of time for personals (I'm so sorry) need to get ready for the McBride's family reunion and some more fun time.:D Will post again on the 1st of July and looking forward to see what you all have been up to.

Janie

Crazy weekend here! Toronto hosted the G20 summit and it turned pretty ugly downtown with a bunch of criminals ruining what would have been peaceful protests. They smashed windows and torched police cruisers. What is wrong with people???? Even more stupid is the people who went down there just to be part of the action and take pictures which adds more challenges for the police trying to keep order.

Thursday and Friday i didn't workout.:( I've been struggling with just not feeling like doing any Cathe these days.

I did buy some yoga DVD's and i got them on Friday so i tried out the first one on Saturday: Shiva Rea's Yoga Flow for Beginners.

I have never done Shiva Rea's type of yoga before. I've mentioned before that i practice a classical/traditional style of yoga but i wanted to diversify my practice and explore a bit so instead of buying more Cathe workouts i decided to get some Shiva Rea DVD's. They look well produced and get a lot of good reviews.

I think Yoga Flow for Beginners is a good intro to Shiva Rea. I was able to keep up and complete the whole thing and i got a good workout. It felt good to get a different type of practice as well so i'm looking forward to working my way through these DVD's.

Yesterday, I decided to do LoMax. i did the Step only premix and while i completed it, i wasn't that into it. Maybe it's a sign that i need to change things up a bit or focus more on yoga for a little bit.

Janie: Glad to hear you enjoyed the first reunion and are on to the next one! Seems like your social calendar is full for the next little while. Have fun.:)

Michelle: I hate being sick in the summer...well anytime actually but when it's hot and humid, it's even worse. Hope you get better soon.

Renee: Ouch! Pulled groin. Take it easy, even if it means a "real rest day".;)

Laura: I truly hope that you get some warm weather and sun at some point this summer!:p I'm glad you are having a good time nonetheless!

Hi Shoegal & Shadowpup!:)

Have a great day.
