Getting Our Licks In!

Happy St Patrick's Day!! I am wearing green - that is the extent of my celebrating - I have never really done anything for it in the past - but I have heard of some pretty wild parties. Anybody else have plans?

Last night I did STS Disc 3 - OH MY GOD!!!! That was tough - I was unprepared for this completely. I was praying for the end. But - Wow!!! Very impressed-different from anything I have done before. Some of those exercises - she said - if you have never done it before than don't use weights - I took Cathe's advice. What a blast!!

Laura - what could be better than working out with your girls? I can imagine how much fun that is!!! My tendency is also to overdo it when I get back to an exercise. I've done that before -and regretted it - so I admire your patience. Well, I really tried to take it easy doing the leg workout - I didn't do the bonus legs she had on there. Those squats with the ball - I found that to be incredibly tough - How much of that does she do in this series?

Michelle - I have the same problem - DH has loads of clothes he doesn't wear - I'm ready to go through his stuff myself and get rid of some of it - I know he wouldn't miss it at all. I'm more motivated to clean out his closets than my own. Talk about the cardio & weights premix makes me want to do it - I think I will this evening.

Janie - I like Step Moves too - and I do think you are "advanced" as well - and if you weren't before - than you must be now - after a rotation like that!!! It is very impressive. You must feel so good about all of your hard work.

We took all of the kids out for another walk yesterday - love to see the girls run at top speed in an open field - they are beautiful to watch. Hobie - loves the walks too -it is surprising to me how quickly he is adapting - much sooner than I thought.

Hope everyone has a nice day today!:)

A quick post: this morning I did STS disc 27, shoulders, biceps, and triceps. I have to admit, I was feeling pretty dang good this morning. I slept really good last night and I decided to wear the black, sleeveless under armour shirt that sister gave me for Christmas. Somehow, I get inspired when I do weight-lifting while wearing that shirt. I was impressed with myself this morning. 15 pound dbs for incline bicep curls and concentration curls. Even with my boomeritis elbow, I was feeling great through all the reps. Couldn't believe it was me using the 15 pounders and feeling like I could add weight. I'm really loving meso 3 right now.

Shoegal: I don't know why but at the moment I'm feeling like meso 1 was the toughest cycle of STS. Maybe because it moves so fast, maybe because it was all new back in January. Keep going, because the fun factor builds in meso 2 and 3.

Janie: another step moves fan here. Sister and I have been trying to following Cathe's 3 month STS/Shock Cardio rotation otherwise I don't think I would have put DWP before the plyo legs.

Laura: the rain is gone and it is downright gorgeous here. We are having temps in the 60s to low 70s and wonderful sunshine and blue skies. More folks in my neighborhood are walking their dogs (um, what do they do with these poor guys when it's not nice?) and Ripken wanted to stop about every 5 feet this morning on our walkabout to sniff all the new dog smells. I don't mind though--I'm pretty indulgent with Rip on our walks particularly when it's nice. You will be starting meso 2 the week after sister and I finish meso 3. You are going to start amazing yourself.

Hi to Shadowpup--hope you are having a good week. And hello to sister--hope you are over your cold.
~michelle

Joey and I went for a hike today. Held hands, it was lovely.

Shoegal, Happy St. Patrick's to you too. I'm wearing a green bangle. That's it for me as well. :) Meso 1 legs is a tough, but I feel all of Meso 1 is hard anyway. LOL Good job! Glad you had a good time with it.

I do feel good completing that rotation. It was hard and your right, the results were good as well. Now, I've got to really watch what I eat, since I'm not working out as hard. Yikes! It's totally different now.

I do hope you take pictures of those beautiful girls running in an open field. I see it in my minds eye. How wonderful! Awe, how sweet that Hobie went too. :D

Michelle, So glad you are feeling good. I'm impressed with your workout too. 15# dumbells for biceps and concentration curls is really good.:D

Janie

I wrote the above post this morning, it is now almost 11:00 pm at night.

Where is everyone? I'm scared.:( I'm all alone...............

Janie

Managed to just lose everything I was typing up here!! I don't even know what I did to do that.

Janie - we're here!!! You aren't alone!! We all come back to check in eventually - I guess you needed to wait around for me to log in this morning!! :D Where was Joey? Yeah - holding hands while hiking - what is better than that? Rex and I did a little of that while we were strolling with the pups yesterday evening!! We all seem to be enjoying those walks - we went through the woods - all around the property - it was warm and drier than it's been in quite awhile. There is almost no snow left.

Michelle - Well all the talk about Cardio and Weights got me in the C&W mood and I searched for a suitable premix - ended up doing the Cardio and Compound weight option!! All of the kids came in to peek at me - decided I was way too boring to watch and walked right back out. No licks for me!!! Scout laid down briefly - sighed heavily - then left too! :D

Hello to Shadowpup, Laura & Catchick!!! I'm off to start my day!:)

Busy, busy, busy. I am feeling better. Not 100%, but considerably better. I am enjoying Meso 3 so far. Plyo Legs was/is pretty tough. Of course I felt really crummy the day I did it, so I can't say too much about it. Yesterdays bi's, tri's, and shoulders was great!

I have another long day ahead of me, so I probably will not be able to check in again until late Friday or Saturday. Wish I had the time for more personal attention to everybody. But I am here in spirit.

Have a great day!
~Renee

Did Athletic Step today. I really like that one!

Shoegal, I've had something happen to my posts from time to time too. That is so annoying! Espescially when it is long and wonderful.

Something about the wonderful outdoors I think, that hands get held. I can envision you and Rex and the pups strolling.;)

Renee, You seem to be doing a great job on your workouts. Have to take my hat off to you exercising when you feel crummy.

Check in when you can, I know how it goes. I was just trying to be clever. I can't always be here every single day either.

Enjoy your day, tomorrow and the weekend.

Janie

Today must be Athletic Step day--that's what I did this morning plus the no equipment ab workout from STS ab circuits. Ripken loves when I do abs after a cardio workout because he can really get his licks in--and he sure did today. He doesn't always stay and keep watch during the whole workout. Most times he will disappear to the cool tile floor in the bathroom for a nap. But he senses when it's cool down time and comes trotting out and carefully sits just to the side of my workout area so I can pet him on the head when I'm doing side steps. The second I stop moving, boom--he is puppy on th spot and starts licking. Silly, silly pup.

This has been such a great workout week. I hope the trend continues through the next 3 weeks of meso 3. I'm thinking this great spring weather that we are having in Virginia might have something to do with my overall upbeat mood.

Shoegal: hate when THAT happens--you go to post your thread and somehow it disappears. When is your sister's dog going to come over to meet HOBIE? Harold has been over to visit for a while, has he? 4 dogs, that should be a hoot.

Janie: we would never leave you. I love going for walks with my DH too. We don't do it enough. It's like a once in a blue moon event. Maybe I'll see if I can coax him out of the house tonight.

Sister: it's about 5:30 pm so you should be doing Athletic Step. Having fun I hope.

Hi to Laura and Shadowpup.
~michelle

Missed you yesterday! I will catch up on posts later tonight, the girls have a big project due tomorrow! I just wanted to stop by and say hi!

I skied yesterday with my friend and did something I have always wanted to do but hadn't done before which was to wear a bikini top! It was fun, I got some hoots and hollars from the chair lift! I then taught my pilates class and considered and jogging on the treadmill before I decided not to! Today all I have done is one mellow pilates class, wanted to get some cardio in as well but wasn't going to happen...

back later to see how everyone else enjoyed their St Patty's day!

On a whim - I did Jari Love's Get Ripped to the Core. Lots of reps using relatively light weights. My heart rate elevated and I was sweating - I do think this is a good workout - but once again I find Jari's personality and the set to be the pits. She is slightly motivating - says some good things - but overall there really isn't anything fun or energizing about her. The set is just so dark - that is my main complaint and the lighting that is there is just bad.

Took another walk about with DH and all the pups. Did some preliminary tests with Hobi off the leash - we had been practicing with treats to have him recognize his name, look up - and trot on back with the lead still on. I have been wanting to let him go so he could really run around but I do see there is way too much to distract him outside. He is doing so well - he didn't make a sound when we left this morning.

Michelle - I'm not sure when Harold & Howie will get to meet Hobi - he does like other dogs though - and I think it helps to have them around to help guide him in certain situations. Unfortunately, my girls don't know proper workout behavior like Ripken- usually I kick them out of the room when I get started. They want to lay down in the middle of everything and if I happen to be on the floor - they'll just climb on top!!

Laura - good for you!!!! Whizzing down the slopes in a bikini top - I give you 2 thumbs up for that but weren't you cold? I could see while you were moving and skiing you were probably fine - but riding up on the chair lift - brrrrr!!! What project are the girls doing??

Janie - Athletic Step - another good one!!! That is definitely one of my favorites.

Hello out there to Renee and Shadowpup

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Wow! Skiing in a bikini top! Crazy! But it sounds like fun...I guess...lol.

Its been a weird week for me. Not feeling good sure put a damper on things. But I always manage to exercise no matter what. I did Athletic Step yesterday too, plus the no equipment abs. I was dragging just a bit and still not at a 100% but I generally feel tired on the 6th day. Athletic Step is fun though. I am very grateful for Fridays...they are my "rest" days.

Sister will be coming down next weekend for my other sisters 50th birthday celebration. That should be fun, hopefully we will get to do "Cathe" together at least once. Now to get the other sister to do Cathe would be a miracle...and funny too. (Evil laughter)

GSP are a beautiful breed of dogs. If I were a dog person, that is one breed I would be interested in. I also like english springer spaniels. Alas, I am more suited to the feline persuasion and love my four cats fiercely. Enjoy your new puppy. My kitten turns 1 year old in 2 weeks. He still has a lot of kitten in him to the dismay of my "big" cats. But he brings out their playfulness which is nice to see.

Keep on, keepin' on. ttfn

Happy Friday! If I didn't have a meeting at the Pentagon this afternoon I would have taken the day off. It is just too dang nice weather-wise to be sitting in an office. But hi-ho, hi-ho, off to the Pentagon I will go. Yes, as sister mentioned, today is break day. If I'm feeling motivated tonight, I might do a stretch. But I have to say, my motivation level on Friday nights typically isn't really high.

Shoegal: I forgot about Howie--how did I do that? I'm not sure how Ripken "learned" proper behavior while I'm exercising. Sister says he is a pretty melo dog. I guess so. He can become more intrusive when I'm doing floor work, but he is typically pretty good.

Laura: skiing in a bikini top--good for you!

Sister: just let my team leader know that I'll be on leave next Friday. We should definitely get one Cathe in while I'm there. Let's make it a fun cardio. I don't know what is on Cathe's SC/STS rotation for next week. Will have to look.

Hi to Janie and Shadowpup. BTW--Shadowpup, my April is pretty light right now, so maybe we can do lunch while you are here.

Hope everyone has a great day.
~michelle

Today was MMA Boxing. I like that one also! I bet I will like all of them.

Glad to see all of you back. Whew! LOL:D

Michelle, Good job on your workouts. Ripken is a character, what a sweet puppy.:) We are having such great weather too the last couple of days. Makes me smile all day long.:) Enjoy the night walk with your hubby.;)

Laura, OH HOW Fun! Wearing a bikini top while skiing. You are a hoot!

You did great with skiiing and jogging and your class. Good workouts!

Shoegal, Love the endurance workout from Jari. Good job. I know, she doesn't have that much of a personality on the DVD, but, it is a good workout and I agree, the lighting is bad. Just another way to exercise though.

When I had Molly, if she wasn't on a leash, her distractions led her wherever they were. I just didn't know how to stop her from them. Poor baby. You are doing such a good job with Hobi.:D

Renee, Great job on your workouts, especially when you are not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon.

How much fun that would be to do sister exercises with Cathe. I think that would be such a blast! Miracles do happen.

Michelle, Enjoy your meeting at the Pentagon. And your rest day.

Hi to everyone else and have a great weekend.

Janie

Hi all! I got home about five minutes ago. Thought I'd stop in and say hello to everyone. I missed our check in this week, let me tell you. It is wonderful to be home. Unfortunately DH is out; one of his rare trips. So, I'm off now to feed all the critters, since they have been alone for quite awhile and are acting very needy.

Hope you've all been having a wonderful week and I am looking forward to getting caught up!

I did STS 28, chest and back, and it was GREAT! Had to blow my nose a lot, but other then that, I am feeling strong today. Flat benched 62 pounds!!! Flat flies at 28 and incline flies at 23. Barbell rows and dealifts 70. I am loving meso 3...well, today I am! LOL

Have a lot to do outside today and the weather in central Virginia is cooperating nicely. Low 70's and good-bye winter! Hooray!

Hope everyone is A-OK.

~Renee

Did nothing today.:)

Deborah, Hey! It's so nice to hear from you. I bet it is wonderful to be home. Say hi to all the critters for me. LOL

Renee, Good job on STS 28, nice poundage. So glad you are feeling better. Yeah!:D

Your weather is terrific. This morning it was 32 degrees. It is now noon and 53 degrees. Nice to walk in for sure.

Have a good one,

Janie

Well, I had a very eventual day yesterday, I and my daughters where in a near terrible accident in the canyon. We had gotten some snow, not really to much yet, and the girls had their project due and really didn't want to miss school. Since it wasn't that snowy we decided to go. On the windshield was a thick layer of ice, underneath the snow, that was near impossible to chip off, which should have been a clue about how bad the roads were...anyway there is a spot in the canyon that locals refer to as the 'narrows' it is a steep incline, with 4 curves and a mountain on one side and a cement road guard and a cliff into the river on the other side. It is always a tricky spot, as we were coming into the narrows the RTD bus had slid off to the side toward the mountain, he had managed to get over as much as he could (those drivers really know that they were doing) and so I got around him no trouble and slowed down even more, which was a good thing, because I come around the second corner and there all over the road, totally willy nilly are three cars, just sitting there in the middle of the road, so I had to hit the breaks and of course lost traction and by some miracle (and very good snow driving on my part I have to say) I managed to maneuver around these 3 idiots (never ever stay in the middle of a road get over!!) and almost hit the guard rail a few times as I was just barely missing the 3rd car I started slidding side ways down the road and a HUGE CDOT plow is coming up, he has his window down and he is screaming at the top of his lungs at the car above me who is sideways in his lane to move, because he is starting to lose traction, and a huge vehicle like that can't stop on a snowy incline and get moving again. He loses traction and starts slidding backwards, his plow coming towards me as I am sliding sideways down the canyon I somehow get the car's nose turned down hill, missing the plow (the plow it self is as big as my car) by inches and gain traction and head the hell out of there. Sophia was in the back car screaming "are we going to die, are we going to die"...It was the scariest ride of my life. I got the girls safely to school arranged a sleep over for them as there was no way I was going to drive them up that canyon again and made it back up safely. Right after I got back up, they closed the canyon. Apparently the road was solid ice under the snow making for really dangerous conditions. Cars where all over the place.. I went to a friends house and had a few very stiff cocktails!
One of the many thoughts that went through my mind in that moment was that I was so glad I wore a bikini skiing the other day! See we may as well do those kind of things because you NEVER know when your # will come up!!

Today I prepped some healthy meals, moved and stacked a half cord of hard wood, shoveled and straightened up the house..and the I decided to do KPC which was so much fun!

Shoegal: I have previewed the Jari workouts and there is something about them that is dark and gloomy, so I haven't bought any. I am glad the puppy is settling in. So how long do you have a foster dog for? That is so nice for you two do that for a poor animal! He must be loving his walks!

Catchick: you are really dedicated! It is hard to muster the energy when you feel badly, remember to get adequate rest though, as that is how our bodies heal themselves. Wow that is some serious weight you are pressing!

Michelle; enjoying the weather are you? After yesterday I feel pretty done with snow! LOL! I am sure we have a few more storms heading our way though. Today was gorgeous though! Did you get a stretch in last night?

Janie: yes MMA Boxing is a blast! One of my favorites, I like these shorter cardios for busy days or when I have lots of classes.

Shadowpup: welcome home! Enjoy those 4 legged kids of yours! Don't forget that story you wanted to tell us about Artemis when you get a chance! Sometimes it nice to have some time alone at the house!

Laura :eek::eek::eek: Thank goodness you and the girls are okay!!!! What a horrible drive. It sounds like you were amazing, though, keeping away from the obstacles, keeping the girls as calm as you could, and dodging all of those crazy people who thoughtlessly blocked the road. And then you drove back yourself???? Amazing is the right word. Did think it was funny you were thinking about the bikini, though :D Well, you earned your relaxing evening and then some ...

Shoegal, I've got two of the newer Jari workouts and I just can't get into them. They are probably headed for our online store, to be honest. The sets are so dark that the workout isn't really all that fun. Jari is a little fast for me in her moves anyway, but I liked her original Get Ripped 1000, which had a nice upbeat feel, even if it was frenetic at times. I wonder why she went to the gloomy urban look???

Janie, some days were made for doing nothing, right? And you did MMA Boxing recently ... that's a fun one. BTW, I used your Christmas soap last night to celebrate being home! It really has a much nicer feel than the usual commercial soaps. I felt quite spoiled to have it handy.

Renee, very glad you are feeling well and doing such great weights with STS :) I love Meso 3 - it makes me feel so strong and competent. Hope you are having a terrific weekend with your nice weather.

Michelle, I think we're settling on the week of April 12 for my next trip. Probably it will be a week of visits in your general vicinity. Hopefully one of them will be loose enough I can take a short break. Are mornings or afternoons better for you, usually?

It was a gorgeous day and I rode two horses ... great fun! And bulbs are blooming everywhere. But we are about to eat, finally (it is almost nine here) so I will save that for another day :D

Laura, Great driving skill on your part. Wow, that must have been so scary for you and your girls. So glad everyone made it safe out of that chaos. Whew!

Healthy meals are always great to have. You also did good on that cord of wood. Needed to do it I'm sure, but still...Good job on your workout too.

Deborah, So glad you like the Christmas soap. Makes me feel good.:D

It was a gorgeous day here to, but tonight it is raining. Would love to see those bulbs...pictures perhaps?:)

Enjoy your meal and have a great evening,

Janie

Whew--everyone is busy and stuff is definitely going on.

I was so busy yesterday, I forgot to post. Did STS disc 28. My weight amounts are no where near sisters, but I am very happy with my 49 pound barbell bench press for this week. This morning was HIIT 30/30 and yoga-inspired abs from ab circuits.

DH and I worked on cleaning up the back deck yesterday. He cut back a bunch of bushes and blew all the leaves off the deck. Then we cleaned out the hot tub. Going to give it a little polish today and then we will fill-er up. I also need to run up to the store to get some birthday cards and see if I can find any shorts that fit. My DH bought me all these wonderful shorts over the past few years, but alas they are too big (thank you Cathe!). I've got a couple pairs picked on on Victoria Secret but I want to see if I can find some good deals at Kohls and then I'll rethink the V.S. order.

Laura: we have a saying: the Good Lord looks over small children and idiots. I'm sure you are not in the later category, so thank goodness you had the girls with you. You did an amazing job keeping your cool and getting out of a harrowing experience, with a screaming child in the back seat no less. High 5s to you and I'm glad you all came through unscathed.

Janie: Spring has definitely sprung here. My magnolia bush is blooming-- Wonderful purple blooms. I'm sure we will have some cool days here over the next few weeks, but it looks like we are over the winter weather. Thank goodness. Doing nothing is great sometimes.

Shadowpup: I will mark my calendar the week of April 12th. Afternoons are usually better for me.

Shoegal: How are things in PA?

Sister: raking leaves today? Yard work doesn't seem as hard when you are in good shape, does it?

Enjoy your day!
