Getting Our Licks In!

Hello everybody,

School and daily routines keep me busy and I'm afraid its gonna stay that way unitl mid-May. I'm not complaining, I like staying busy. I've kept busy with the exercise too. During my "active recovery" week, I've done lots of step and stretches. I feel pretty good and am ready to start meso 3 today. I am nursing a stupid cold, but this too will pass, and I'm not gonna let it slow me down.

Janie, what kind of protien drinks to you use/make? I was using Jay Robb, but have switched to Gold Standard Whey protein. On weight lifting days I will drink 2-3 protein drinks and on cardio days 1-2. This week I didn't have my protein drinks daily, just because, well, I don't know...just because. Sometimes I put some it in my oatmeal, but mostly I do a scoop with 8 ounces of water. Its been working for me and it doesn't taste bad at all. I use the chocolate and vanilla flavors the most but decided to try the variety pack of Gold Standard and like the chocolate, vanilla, mocha and mint chocolate the best. Don't care for the "fruity" flavors that much. French Vanilla is better then vanilla ice cream in my opinion. 4 grams of carbs and 25 grams of protein. YO sister, some do taste icky, some don't, you just gotta find one that suits your taste buds.

Ah, what we do for our diabetic kitties. I learned that you do what you have to, in order to make the cats quality of life the best. Do you check Winkles blood sugar. Had no clue a person could do that until after the second hypo episode. Found out you can use a human glucometer and prick the kitties ear for a blood sample. I think that helped my Noodles live a little longer. Where do you give shots? The scruff of the neck? Do you use the tent method? Noodles didn't mind his shots, he knew it would make he feel "better". Gosh, I miss that cat. He was and will always be my soul kitty. But I love the four I have now and am very blessed to have such a wonderful bunch of kitties to love and care for.

Make time to live...in the present. Nobody knows when their number is up. Do what you can, and what you can't do, don't sweat it. Family, love and happiness...that should be everyone's priority.

Happiness resides not in posessions and not in gold; the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul.

Meso 3, disc 25, chest and back--I have to say, I really enjoyed the first workout of meso 3--maybe it was the longer rest times in between sets. I was able to get through all my weights at the amounts indicated on my worksheet and my back felt good so I'm happy. Not sure what my cardio will be tomorrow. I may do the HIIT double wave pyramid or go with a step workout--I'll see how I feel about that tomorrow.

Lots of rain here in Virginia but the temps are good. Ripken and I have been lucky to get our walks in when it is drizzling or not raining.;) Cleaned out my shorts drawer and have a small pile of shorts to take to sister at the end of the month. I also straightened up my winter shirts on the shelves in the closet and have a few turtlenecks that I am retiring as well. I think Shadowpup inspired me a bit to get my closet in better order.

Shoegal: a new puppy--I just can't imagine having more than one dog at a time and you already have two! Sorry you had a rotten time with your workout--you know when that happens to you, maybe you should stop and put your favorite Cathe workout in the dvd player. Just a thought.

Janie: congratulations on getting through your rotation and on losing some of the weight. That's great! There is something about spring that provides that extra little inspiration to really work on shedding a few more of those extra pounds. You go girl!

Laura: all those walks sound fantastic. I've been thinking about saving up for one of those ipod thingys. I have to admit that I tend to wait a while before I jump on the technology bandwagons.

I had a great day ski day with the family! The girls did their 1st Black Diamonds! According to my new geek gadget we skied 2 hours and 13 minutes ( with no breaks which is a whole new level of endurance for the girls!) And a whopping 11.38 miles! I did just let the application run the whole day even while riding chair lifts, since it was my 1st time, but next time I think I will pause it while on the chair lift to get a sense of actual miles skied. It was so warm out I could have worn a short sleeve! Only a few more weeks left and then it is time to break out our bikes and hiking boots!

lots of posts and was fun to read them all, but don't have time tonight for personals! I am going to a Ladies Night Out and need to jump in the shower! The girls want to ski again tomorrow, but 'not as hard or as long' as today so looks like we will be back on the slopes tomorrow!

Hi all!

Quick check-in tonight ... I read all of the posts, though, and looks like we're having a pretty good weekend. Shoegal, really looking forward to hearing about the new pup :) Janie, congrats on the compliments from DH! Nice to hear them, isn't it! Renee, glad you like being busy. Is your spring break over? The local schools are just now starting theirs. Michelle, not surprised you have been so busy. Everyone I know back east with work related to the feds is rushing to make up for all those snow days ...

Speaking of snow days, Laura, we had snow ourselves! Actually had to shovel. This is not unusual for our area, but this winter has had us spoiled and it was a surprise.

Yesterday, did Meso 2, week 1 Legs. Ouch! but not as bad as I thought. My body seems to like longer breaks between the mesocycles, and I didn't lose any ground here either, despite having three works in between. Tonight, I did TRX flexibility to get things stretched out. I'm really feeling it in my back - not in a bad way, just a well-worked way. All those comments from Cathe about recruiting more muscle fibers? I believe that's what's happening. All the extra mobility work with TRX and Magnificent Mobility etc seems to be giving me both greater range of motion and helping me to use my muscles better.

On the time management front, I am making some progress. I'm down to overscheduling myself by about an hour a night, rather than three hours :eek::eek: The major change is a mental breakthrough. At work when I get busy, I focus on what's most important and so things go really well. I've always had so much clarity about what my task is that it makes it easy to choose among short term tasks (when it comes to long term, I say "yes" too often, but that is another problem!). For personal time, though, when I have my to-do lists have been "ought to do"s. My own priorities weren't making it on the list. This time, I'm start with what I care about most, and admitting that cleaning isn't it :D:D:D. Renee and Laura and the rest of you said it very well. And so with far less guilt than usual, I spent time at a gardening show with DH. and we had dinner out, and I pushed routine tasks later in the week. They'll get done eventually.

Did SC Circuit Blast this morning and Bum Bum this eventing. I'm Done with the rotation! YEHHHHHHHH! I'll give my opinion tomorrow.

Renee, Congratulations again for starting off with Meso 3 today. How was your first day? Hope your cold stops in its tracks. Shoot.

I don't buy commercial protein drinks, we get whey, vegie, or hemp protein and put that in our drinks. Then all kinds of wonderful nutrients, such as banana, bee pollen, flax seed, bran...to name a few. We love our drinks and they count as a meal. This just fits our taste buds. Hmmmmmm Heaven!:p

I do give shots under the scruff of the neck tent style. I mostly have to distract him, and if I'm lucky, it works. I tried the food today and he is eating it. I gave him his two shots today, but tomorrow I won't. I wish him all the luck and wellness that fate can conjure up for our little guy. We'll see what happens soon.

I've heard about pricking kitties ear, but I just don't want to be pricking him and giving him shots at the same time. Poor guy, life is hard for him.:(

Awe, Noodles sounded like such a terrific kitty. I know animals tug at your heart and they become family members. It's hard for us that they only get to live such a short time. But, oh so worth it.

Michelle, Meso 3 is are my favorite workouts. You will see such a difference in strength and for fitter people, results in the body. Enjoy.

Rain here too. It just doesn't stop! Cleanmax might be in order for me as well. Thanks a lot Shadowpup. LOL;)

Yes, and that inspiration is every now and then, SUNSHINE!

Laura, What are Black Diamonds? Great job on the skiing. It's kinda sad isn't it to only have a few more weeks of skiing and then it's over? I didn't make it out this year for the mountains. Darn.:( But then other wonderful things just around the corner.:)

Debroah, Good workout for today and wonderful stretching. Many people don't realize how important that is. My body (after a Meso) requires almost 2 weeks to get the benefits. So, a longer active recovery for me as well.

Love hearing you are doing better on time management. Just putting priorities in their perspective really helps.

I also like that you aren't upset when things don't get done, because like you said, it will get done eventually. I'm proud of you.;)

It sounds like you had a nice evening with DH. Good for you guys.

Have sweet dreams everyone,

Janie

Good morning all! It is gorgeous outside - so I wanted to stop by here to say hello before I disappear into the great outdoors :) Tomorrow afternoon I'm headed off again for about five days, so it may be awhile after today before I am back.

Janie, none of our pets have needed long term shots in one spot every day, knock on wood, although I'm regularly giving vaccinations and so on... just ordered this year's, actually. From my own experience in giving shots to myself while I was in chemotherapy, I learned a few tricks that helped make it more comfortable to give myself daily shots in the same general area. Starting with a small and sharp needle is of course the most important, and I bet you are already doing that. Also, the tent method itself can get painful after awhile because the skin is tender from being held. Even a gentle finger grasp can lead to bruising and soreness, let alone the needle. If you wear thick wooly gloves or something similar that gives you a bigger grasping area but still lets you hold on to the needle gently, it spreads the pressure from holding the skin. Don't know if it would work with a kitty because I was not wriggling around. Also, If you can vary where you hold the tented skin it may help. Normally I give shots by holding the tent "on top" and the needle goes in an upward direction. I found that the skin tenderness was reduced if I alternated by making the tent "on the bottom" and having the needle go in a downward direction (also (on the wside). And of course varying where on the neck you go; kitties have less range than people so this may not help as much. It depends on whether you can be accurate with changing your hand position.

The final thing I was taught to do is to slightly warm the content of the syringe in my hand just before giving the shot. Check with your vet to see if this is okay; not everything should be allowed to warm to room temperature. But the coldness of the liquid causes some discomfort and having it more like room/hand temperature is more pleasant.

Anyway, from having been on the other side of the needle, these were the things that helped me the most.

Glad to know that I am not the only one who likes a longer down time between STS mesos! Having the circuit training (travel fit) and bodyweight (TRX) in the middle worked out well. Perhaps for meso 3 I'll do the same. And I'm really thankful to you and Laura for all the discussions about mobility/flexibility/stretching, because that's now an integral part of my week and it truly helps!

Laura, I had a demonstration recently of that RunKeeper from a friend of mine with an iphone. He loves it! It looks like a really neat thing. Almost enough to make me want to exchange my blackberry for an iphone ... the keyboard is what keeps me with the blackberry, but it's sure a temptation! But sounds like you are having a wonderful time with it. Apparently it can show you splits, exactly where you went, and all of that. You shouldn't even have to turn it off to find out exactly how far you went, as long as you know where the lift starts/end (at least that's what it looked like).

Michelle, Renee, Meso 3 is still my very favorite of all of them. I love the heavier weights with fewer reps. It is *so tempting* to skip Meso 2 and go right to 3, but that probably just means I should do two rounds of Meso 2

Shoegal, we absolutely must have pictures of the new pup when you get a chance! Can't wait to hear how things are going. Will you be doing crate training and all, or is the new kid going to be housebroken already ... ? New four legged friends are wonderful and I hope you're having one terrific weekend getting to know one another :)

Happy Daylight Savings Time-Day to you all, and I hope your skies are as blue as mine are here.

I'm sure that we have blue skies right above all those clouds. It has stopped raining for a while so maybe we are actually on the tail end of this front. We have over 3 inches in the rain gauge for the past couple of days. We sure are soggy to say the least.

I was feeling really good today (still am), so I went with the Double Wave Pyramid from the SC HIIT as recommended in the rotation. Then I layered on the 3rd stretch from Total Body Stretching. I'm going to try to be better about getting more of those stretches in during the week. They really helped me get over the pain and the strain with my back last week and they feel so good after a workout. I think those stretches also provide some time to stop and feel the afterglow of a good workout. Ripken views it as additional licking time so he is all about more stretches.

Giving shots: okay, so I don't think I've ever talked about this before but I actually have to give my DH a shot in his backside every 3 weeks. It's just part of the many prescriptions that he has. I do it because it seemed silly to pay for an office visit every 3 weeks for the dang shot. It's not my favorite thing to do but I do it. Of course, we rotate cheeks so he is not getting the shot in the same place all the time. I know I could do the same thing for Ripken if I had to, but it's not something I'm hoping for. And giving a shot to myself--ick. But we do what we have to do for the one's we love and sometimes that includes doing for ourselves as well.

Meso 3: interesting that Meso 3 is both Janie's and Shadowpup's favorite meso of STS. Since sister and I are just getting started with meso 3, I'll save my thoughts for the finish line.

Laura: what a great way to spend the weekend--outside, exercising with your girls. Sounds like you guys are having a blast.

Shoegal: how are all the pups? I'm guessing that this has been a pretty interesting weekend for you guys. Hope you haven't had too much rain on your parade.

Sister: I need to go down in the basement to find a box to put clothes in for you. See how much cleaning out I can do over the next couple of weeks before I come down to visit. Who would have thought we'd be doing hand-me downs in our 40s?

~michelle

Deborah, We will miss you during these five days, but will always look forward to you coming back.

I had no idea you had to go through this shot business. How awful!

I've done all the different things that you have suggested. Our poor little Winkle, he is trying to be brave.:(

Joey went to pick up the cat food from the vet, and they certainly didn't impress him one bit. They seemed to him a little confused and the more he thinks about it, the more he feels that it was the girls at the front desk who suggested the food and not the vet. Hmmmmmm. I'll call tomorrow and see what is going on. We don't want to hurt Winkle and make him suffer even more because of some bimbos. We are going to make sure it's OK to do this before we stop the shots. I didn't give him this morning shot but I certainly did this evening.

So glad to see you stretching. I agree, it is maybe even more important than exercising.

Michelle, Good job on your workout, very impressed with you getting back so quickly. Also proud of you for stretching. I can picture Ripken during your stretch. LOL:D

Thanks for sharing about your DH shots. Makes me feel a little better.:)

Have a great evening everyone,

Janie

Ah, Monday, and still feeling a bit under the weather. Decided to take a "long" weekend since I feel so puny. Stuffing head, achy...it totally sucks. Yesterday I did HiiT double wave pyramid...it was all I could do to get thru it. Today is plyo legs....well, yippy D skippy! Can't wait to try that one, but I made up my mind to be as LAZY as possible today, stay home and try to feel human again. Will let everybody know how it goes.

~Renee

So "Hobie" came to us on Saturday afternoon. Pup is 6 or so - big male GSP - he's got 30lbs on our girls - and he is super sweet. We took him for a walk up and down the long drive that leads to the house as soon as we got him - in the rain no less. Can't wait to be able to let him run about the property like the girls do. I think he needs the exercise and he needs to run. So probably not the best thing to do - but we were asked to dinner by our neighbors and left him that same evening. He seems to have major seperation anxiety - cries if I even so much as close the door to the bathroom! We put him in the crate and he started to cry, bat at the crate - then all out barking. We stood there for awhile - barking did not subside - then we left. Had an ok dinner - but frankly I was worried about him. We came home and Hobie had managed to somehow open the crate and escape! Not sure how he did it - smart guy - but he didn't seem to destroy anything in the house. DH was with him all day Sunday - when I came home, though, he was laying down in the crate - and stayed there the rest of the evening and all through the night. He didn't want to come out. I know it is early - but I am just praying that he will adapt and be happy with us. I have this tremendous soft spot for animals (as we all do) and I just want him to be happy so badly.

I am so very tired - all I wanted to do was stay home and sleep. So Renee - hope you are fighting off the cold and getting some resting in with your kitties.

Laura - sounds like you had a lovely weekend skiing with the girls and playing with the new gadget!!!

Shadowpup - wish you didn't have another trip - like having your input on things here. I see you managed to get some quality time in this weekend with your DH - so glad you are making progress on the time management front.

MIchelle - Yeah - 3 dogs is a lot - but somehow your heart expands to fit all of them!!! :D I need to clean out my clothes in the worst way - I have way too much stuff - probably too much that I don't wear!! Somehow cleaning out my closet never makes it on my to do list. :(

Janie - rotation done - check!! So what are you going to do now?? Yeah - I will have to at least preview some of the step I do - not the whole thing perhaps but enough so I don't get that frustrated - I think that is a good idea. I'm glad you made some great fitness gains and lost a bit of weight - it is so good to hear - it motivates me to do better as well.

I wish I could take a nap:rolleyes: The time change really has thrown me off my schedule - hope you all have a great day!

Hi all, time to go sure came quickly! I'm off in a quarter hour from starting this note ...

Shoegal, great to hear about Hobie. He is one lucky boy! And good job in leaving him there barking. That is the *hardest* thing for me, and yet it's absolutely necessary or else the pup or horse or cat realizes you are 'teachable' and that barking (neighing, meowing, ...) is the way to get want s/he wants ...

Janie, yes, I have much experience with needles! Kind of like Michelle, when it came towards the end of my year of chemotherapy, those white cell booster shoot had to be given daily; it wasn't safe/useful/convenient to go sit in the doc's office to wait. But it was useful, since I learned a few new tricks that those years in the vet clinic hadn't given me.

Michelle, I hope you have your blue skies back ... btw, I'm out your way mid April. Not sure of the dates yet. It looks like a week long trip, likely right in the heart of DC. Maybe things will work out for coffee/brunch/lunch/etc this time!

Renee, sorry you aren't feeling well! Seems like that doesn't happen to you very often, and hopefully you'll shake it soon. You know, I did all of the squat versions (with a weighted vest plus barbell) as opposed to plyo legs; haven't done any of those in meso 3.

Laura, your girls are really amazing (and amazingly lucky to have you as a mom, it goes without saying). Black diamonds are the tough ones, right? What a great way to get exercise, and have fun family time.

Accountability post:
* yesterday, priorities were squarely in order. I rode all three horses as my priority, worked out, hiked with the dogs, and spent some fun time with DH watching one of his shows; and squeezed in a ton of laundry as a maintenance task. Also cleared up my paperwork (as part of the cut the clutter goal) and made sure all of my bills/finances were in good shape (as part of the financial independence goal), and made a card for my grandma's birthday with Shutterfly (family goal). It is far more fun to think of these tasks as being stepping stones along the way as opposed to must-do-em's! It made it easier to decide which ones to do and what to set aside. Believe me, several were set aside in favor of the riding. Horses got four hours out of the day, half of it cleaning off mud
* so far every day for two weeks I have begun by a ten minute review of priorities/goals, and revised my personal task list to match. For a week I have also listed the top ten things that are most important to me in the world, in a minute (it's an exercise I picked up from one of the many time management books I've got - intended to help a person get at their true priorities). For the past few days I have switched my task list to reflect MY priorities and not WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK priorities. Amazingly, I am getting every bit as much done (and then some), and I feel better about it! The house is no less clean. Perhaps slightly better. Next week I will add one new small habit to these.
* Did STS last night - third disk in Meso 2. Back and biceps. I have to tell you I am very proud to report that I was able to do one arm rows with my 50 pound dumbbell for the dropset 12-10-8 sequence, and also deadlifted 115 pounds for the dropset 12-10-8 sequence. Those are not my max weights but they are the most reps I've hefted as much. Also, I was able to do my first set of twelve pullups without stopping. The second two sets, well, many breaks (blush) This week I will take advantage of the travel to experiment with something I picked up from a book by Cressey, where he suggested alternating heavy/medium intensities. This has been my heavy week, and I will go to higher reps/lower weights until the weekend with either kettlebells, TRX, bodyweight or both between now and Friday night, and focus on mobility with perhaps one high intensity cardio in these five days. The idea is that this gives the body a chance to recuperate and improve faster.

BTW, when I get back, remind me to tell you about how Atreides proved that youthful exuberance can't compete with mature enthusiasm! time to go!

Renee, So sorry you are still feeling under the weather.:( When I feel like that there is no way I workout. But, that's me. I applaud you for doing so. Hope you feel better soon.

Shoegal, Poor puppy. He will do just fine now that he's in a home that cares about him. Give him a little time, and it will be OK. Let us know how he does.

I've been doing nothing since the end of the rotation. Well, making culture to start baking bread again and sharing it with people on the OD forum. But, starting tomorrow will do a cardio from the STS series. Haven't decided which one yet.

Yeah, the time schedule change has thrown me off too. Ick.

Deborah, Thank you so much for the advice on the shots. This is coming in very handy. I talked with my vet today, and he said the kitty food won't work for Winkle, he is running from 500 -600 range and he needs his two shots. So whoever was telling me this should not have. He's back on his shots. The vet told me wherever you can find lose skin it's OK to give shot there too. So not only the scruff of the neck (thank God). This will be much better for him.

You did a lot yesterday with your animals and hiking. Sounds wonderful and even watched a movie with DH. You did good spending time with everyone.

Why do horses like mud so much?

You are doing a fantastic job on your time management and your workouts. OOOO, kettlebells sound so good, I bought some about a year ago for Joey and me, and still haven't use them :(

You go girl! You are doing great.:D

Rotation Results:

I've had tremendous results from this rotation! It is by no means an easy workout and I would only suggest it for the most part to the advanced group. I'm an intermediate mostly person and when I did this rotation I had to modify all the way through it. Still, with good results.

I lost 10 pounds and a lot of inches all around my body. I'm one size smaller from when I started.

My strength has increased, but my body doesn't show the added muscle. I'm sure it is because I'm intermediate and needed to lose fat. If a person did this rotation and were high intermediate-Advanced, I'm sure you would see more tone and definition. I did notice my bum bum is higher and firmer. My flabby arms don't flap anymore, and the fat that was around the middle of my back is no longer. Also my tummy and upper legs and hips are smaller and firmer. This is in only one month with these results. I most likely will do this one again in the near future, especially with results like these.

What is really cool, is that I may now be a high end intermediate. By the time I was nearing this rotation, there were many many times that I didn't modify and that was the time when the workouts were more strenuous.

If you want to lose weight, lean out and get stronger, this is a rotation to think about doing.

Hi Everyone! Just caught up on Sunday/Monday posts. I took yesterday and had a lovely lazy and unproductive day with the girls and a nice dinner at a friends who has a daughter @ my girls age. We watched Where the Wild Things are while we ate beef and elk tacos.

Today is my 3 classes. I want to make up one STS Meso Cycle 1 legs workout that I missed this weekend. And then I am on to focusing just on my classes and cardio for the week. I was really feeling like I needed a rest and was supposed to have it last week, but now I am feeling good again! I still think I should focus on cardio, pilates, yoga and stretching though. With my lifting class tonight and a leg workout, it won't be like a true rest week anyways...

Since yesterday was utterly unproductive, I need to get some things done before my evening classes so I got to run!

I managed to workout yesterday, and I did alright. Back to school today, and thats going okay too. Sister and I are going to stray from the Shock Cardio today and do the cardio premix to Cardio and Weights, add in the core section and a little StretchMax. Ah, what I have to look forward to, when I get home.

I think I must have slept at least 24-26 hours of the last 36 hours. My head is still a bit stuffy and congested but at least I am well rested. (I'm a poet...lol)

I'll post more later I hope.

Last night I revisted Stepsational and did 100% better than the last time I did this and it was a ton of fun. Having stumbled my way through half of it Thursday helped me to master those first few combos - but I managed to do quite well with the rest of it. She has this routine divided - there are 4 combinations in the first half and in the 2nd half there are 3 more. So we recap the first 4 combinations - put all of those together and then learn the last three and put only those 3 together. The last 3 are done starting on top of the step - it was different - and Christi said it might be a little confusing at first - but I didn't seem to have any trouble. I love good workout days like this. I'm a step junkie - can't get enough of it. Well - let me clarify - I can't get enough of challenging step choreography - when it is easy and basic - it puts me to sleep. :p I know I say these same things over and over again - but I get all excited to tell someone about my step experiences.

Janie - your results sound incredible!!!!!! Congratulations - I am thrilled for you -it is so motivating when all of your hard work pays off - and it seemed to big time!! I would love to do the rotation - but I don't have BBL or Insanity - but it sounds like a good reason to get them!!! Did you ever hear of the PINK workout system??? I read about it on VF and had no idea what it was -didn't seem to be much info online - I though I would ask you. Which SC did you do?

Shadowpup - your weights on the Meso 2 disc 3 sound huge!!! Yeah, I would be happy to report that too!!! Good job. Priorities were definitely in order - everyone in your family got some quality time - that is a great feeling. I did little of that when I got home - took all 3 pups and my DH out for walk. Hobie is still on the lead but he certainly managed to get all mucky in no time though. He seemed to enjoy himself and it tuckers him out good too.

Laura - You didn't have an unproductive day - I would say that you had an exotic day - Elk Tacos??? never tasted Elk - what's it like? How was "Where the Wild things are?" That is one of my most favorite childhood books - my Mom would read that to us all the time - I have very fond memories of that. My sister saw and enjoyed the movie - but she said it was rather sad and they made some changes in Max's situation that was different from the book. Glad that you are feeling good now - what cardio will you do?

Hello to Michelle - Renee - glad you are on the mend!

Getting near lunch and I'm hungry!!

Didn't manage to pos yesterday, but did get the exercise in first thing in the morning (well, first thing after Ripken's walkabout). Sister and I are doing the plyo legs during meso 3. Good golly, I hope I can make it through 3 more plyo workouts. I thought it was pretty darn challenging particularly after doing DWP on Sunday which has alot of plyo moves. My calves and achilles tendons are letting me know they've had enough of plyo moves for a few days. Today, as sister mentioned, we are doing the Cathe's Cardio & Weights step only premix, plus the abs from the same workout. I also added the first stretch from stretch max because I'm really trying to increase my stretch time. And I felt like my legs really needed it.

Shoegal: Hobie sounds like a wonderful pup. It sounds like the first few days are going very well. He is a lucky dog. I don't mind hearing about how much you like doing step because it is my favorite type of cardio as well. And as for cleaning out clothes: I usually attack one drawer or a section of the closet that way I don't get overwhelmed and I think I make more progress. Now, if I could just get my DH to go through some of his stuff that he hasn't worn in years.

Janie: wow--you've gotten fantastic results with your rotation. And this was one that you made up, wasn't it? You really should post your rotation with your results on the rotation forum. And I don't know how you can consider yourself an intermediate level exerciser. You've been doing this forever for goodness sake! And that rotation that you just completed sure did not look intermediate to me--it looked pretty advanced. IMHO.

Laura: active recovery weeks are great. When will you be starting meso 2?

Shadowpup: I've said it before and I'll say it again: you are our energizer bunny. You sure do pack alot into a single day. Your activities sure are motivating.

Sister: hope you are feeling better today. The step premix for C&W was loads of fun. Enjoy!

Last night after my two finally classes I decided to jump on the treadmil and did a slow jog. I was only going to go for 15 min. steady pace, as I had not run since Nov. and I only ran 2 then. I was trying to be oh so good as my tendency is to jump into an activity and try to be where I was when I stopped it and apparently from some reading on line that really is not a good idea. I did end up going for 20 minutes with a through 5 minute warm up and cool down.

Today I had my Pilates class this morning and was able to sneak in SC KB before dinner. My girls are so cute, they do the warm ups with me! Then we caught up on last week's Biggest Loser on line and they were doing these cute 'last minute workouts' during the commercials. I wish you could have seen them!

Catchick: Glad you are on the mend! You must have really needed that snooze! Good for you listening to your body and giving what it needed.

Shoegal: That's what we are hear for! To tell and listen to others about their workouts, and it is true that few others in my life really want to hear me go on and on about my workouts. I can see the glaze start to film over my DH's eyes when ever I say the "W" word! Glad you have so much fun with step! There was a lot of talking going on during the movie, Where the Wild Things, which makes it hard for me to focus on a movie. There were some powerful scenes. I have heard really mixed takes on the movie you either like it or you don't. Max has some serious problems and my DH didn't like it all, he kept saying "if that was my kid, I'd......"

Michelle: is it raining still? Today a student in my class was saying that you guys were getting a bunch of rain in the East. More than usual spring rain? In the 60's up here today, beautiful blue skies and the powder white mountains look so pretty against that sky! Plyo cathe does sound a little intimidating for sure! You'll make it though and be happy you did!

Janey: where is your rotation? Did I miss it somewhere? Congrats on losing those 10 lbs you found!! LOL!

Shadowpup: safe travels, looking forward to hearing Artemis's story when you get back! As far as Iphones, once you make the switch to touch screen you'll wonder what kept you a key board for so long!

post script:

Michelle I don't start Meso 2 until April 13th, after my 2 week vacation, which is why I was continuing with Meso 1, but I really really needed a break from the lifting and more cardio time, so taking a mini active break this week and see how I am next week. I was actually thinking of doing a week of Gym Styles or something maybe plus my normal classes.

Today was Step Moves. Love this one.

Laura
, Sounds like a movie I might have watched, Were the Wild Things rre. Hmmmmmm.

Does the elk taco taste much like a taco hamburger?

Go with your gut feelings tell you. Can't go wrong with that.

Renee, How was your workout with the cardio premix. Glad to see you doing stretches.

You must have needed all that rest. Your body knows.;)

Shoegal, Good job on the step workout. You did it! I'm also a cardio junky, and love hearing you talk about step ups. Makes me feel like doing one.:D Never heard of the PINK workout system. Hmmmmmm

Michelle, I love the Plyo workouts, they are intense and challenging. Can't get better than that. You did good, especially after you fried your legs the day before. Just don't make a habit of it two often. A day in-between those kinds of workouts is really good. But, that being said, it's OK every now and then to confuse the body. :D Great workout tonight and stretching too.;)

Thank you for the vote of confidence on the rotation. The rotation is called: For A Lean Sculpted Butt And A Strong Hard Body and insanity/sts/sc/and brazil butt rotation!?

It's in the Rotation Forum. I am really only a little higher than intermediate, but did the advanced rotation anyway. I must modified a heck of a lot. By the end of my rotation though, I felt so much stronger and at that time considered myself a high intermediate. Remember all the hard times I was going through, well, I gained a bunch and just now starting to lose that awful fat. I still have a ways to go, but I'm consistently doing it so far. I'm waiting for the plateau.:)

Laura, Good job taking it easy on the treadmill. I know what you mean wanting to be where you stopped the exercising. Me too. We have to just be patient, we'll get there.

Wished I could have seen your girls do the last minute workouts too. I bet it was adorable. Good job on SC KB.

My rotation is in the Rotation Forum: For A Lean Sculpted Butt And A Strong Hard Body and insanity/sts/sc/and brazil butt rotation!?

Have a great evening everyone,

Janie
