Getting Our Licks In!

Hi all, writing you quickly from snowy DC! It is amazing how much real work a person can get done when no one expects you to be around :D I am taking full advantage! Hope to post more news later, and really hoping to connect up with Michelle. We may just miss each other though ... if weather permits my meetings start up early again on Friday. The earlier ones turned into telecons! Still, very productive, though in no way anything like what I'd envisioned

I took advantage of a break in the weather yesterday to get a few healthy grocery items for my room (food for two days), novels from a local Barnes and Noble, and made sure my gadgets are staying charged up. And stocked up on coffee.

The winter here reminds me of our winter at home last year. We had seemingly endless days of this sort of weather, from Thanksgiving on to Easter. But the key difference is that we have (a) much bigger snow plows and (b) more people with snow experience!

Yet - it's gorgeous out, for those few of us who are not expected to go anywhere or wield a shovel. The snow is beautifully white since few people are driving on it. Those hardy souls who are moving around are very polite. It is quiet outside, except when the wind is whooshing around. The hotel staff here are uniformly upbeat and cheerful. We have plenty of power, coffee, water, and PRACTICALLY NO ONE ELSE IS USING THE INTERNET! I love it.

Am off to squeeze a workout in before dinner. Cardio Coach!!! Then TRX! Love it.

Did STS Disc 2 back & triceps. Enjoyed that.

Renee
, Sounds like you might be bored from all the snow being duped your way and forcing you to stay indoors (cabin fever). But, CCC workout, given your indication how hard it is, must have made you a little tired and more relaxed. Maybe? Great job by the way. Hope you get better days soon.

Shoegal, I love Muscle Endurance too. Great workout! I misunderstood you on Step Heaven. :DLOL. Still impressed though.:)

Laura, Don't blame you for not wanting to ski in the wind. You burn that much for snowshoeing? Would have love to have gone with you. Enjoy your pilates class and the stretches.

Yes, you do want to lift that heavy. Women have lots less testosterone than men and therefore less muscle mass. Most women (if they work hard and compete against themselves) will be fortunate and lucky to look like Cathe. Most will be more toned and stronger without the bulk using heavy weight. Unless you are one that have the rare genes to bulk, I would presume that you are safe on that account. Also, it depends what look you are after. And who knows better than yourself on how your body reacts to weight lifting.

For me it takes a lot of lifting to see the results I want. In the mean time I get the benefits of being healthy and stronger and my bones won't break as easy in my older age.

Deborah, Sounds like I don't have to worry about you. Snug as a bug in a rug, but very busy. Every now and then, as you do, continue to look outside at the beautiful scenery. Hope you and Michelle, can connect. Enjoy CC and TRX.

Well, it has been one heck of a week. This winter officially has gone down in history as the snowiest winter in the Washington DC area. We only got about 4 inches of snow, but the wind is blowing like a top so we've got some major drifting going on. The federal government is closed again tomorrow--that is 4 days in a row. More history.

So, like sister, I also did disc 15 today. So far, meso 2 is going very well. I'm feeling good DOMs after each workout this week. Last week sister and I did a good active recovery week. I'm glad that we took Cathe's advice and did no lifting for a week. So, I'm thinking Laura that I would advise you to take the week (or more) of rest before starting meso 2.

I've been working at home so far this week and it looks like the pattern will continue at least through tomorrow. I'm feeling a little cabin fever, but not like sister.

Laura: sure you want to lift that heavy. Why not?

Janie: it's good to see such an energetic post from you. Way to go with the exercise today. That's great. It sounds like you are getting back to a regular exercising regime. To borrow one of your phrases: I'm proud of you.

Shadowpup: I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying our snowy capital. It sounds beautiful. I'm wondering how big the snowplows are in Idaho?

Shoegal: how great that you can take your pups to work with you. Sometimes I wish I could take Ripken to work with me, but no pups allowed unless they are service dogs. I think that you guys in Pittsburgh are much more hearty winter souls than we are. We are just not used to this stuff.

I'm thinking tomorrow will be shovel out after get plowed in, again. And clear out the path to the mailbox. Wouldn't be a day without a little shoveling. My shoveling form is getting really good.

Good night to everyone.

Last night I did HiiT Double Wave Pyramid - well -the pyramid one. I thought - gee - it is short but looks really scary. I took a peek at the chapters -!! All that jumping - I don't know. Well - I did it. And I loved it. It is surprising what you can do when you don't expect too much from yourself - I thought - gee I won't be perfect - Lord knows my tuck jumps aren't the greatest - but I'm gonna give it a go and so I did. I enjoyed it - it would all build - the first couple intervals I wasn't anaerobic - but later when we went longer my heart rate shot up there and I got that rush. I love that feeling - I love working hard. It just ends so quickly - and I'm like - gee - we are done already. Nice workout, I thought, because I didn't need anything to do it - and I felt like I got something done in 30 minutes!! I tacked on some abs at the end. I have to say though - when I was doing MM - the lower ab section was just too hard on me and that is completely frustrating. I never had trouble before - I really love ab work - I would do anything. But my back injury wrecked havoc and I realized that I just can't anymore - it is either - hurt myself and do this - or do what you can and protect yourself. I want to be young again when nothing hurt.

Michelle - the winter is pretty snowy for us too - and it is certainly doing its best to cause some problems but I have to say that DH and I are enjoying it. Besides plowing the driveway which DH LOVES to do - we don't need to clear a path to the mailbox - it is at the end of the driveway - and we don't have typical walkways or anything so - no shoveling for us. Unfortunately some ice dams in the gutters of both my mom's house and sister's house are leaking water inside. Other sister finally got her power back!!

Laura - No - you assume correctly - I don't ski - I have never even tried. I did date a ski instructor once who threatened to teach me - but alas - it never came to pass. So I was thrilled to discover that you didn't learn until later - did you say 30 or so - so I still have a chance to learn and enjoy it. I suppose it never too late. I have snow shoed quite a bit though - once in Vermont after a huge snow fall - blazing the trail is hard work!! But you are right - it is great.

Janie - nice job on your workouts - I agree. I'm thinking that you & Joey are getting your strenth and endurance back very quickly - your rotation is going its job - that is for sure.

Shadowpup- well - glad you made it and that you are safe - and getting your workouts in & tons of work done - sounds like you have everything you need!!! When do you leave DC??? Tricky to work out your shedule - sounds like everything is being shifted and being moved - but hope you can meet up with Michelle.

Okay - getting going here - hope you all have a great day!!! :D

Ah, Double Wave Pyramid. That is on the docket for Sunday. I haven't done it yet, but I have watched it. It looks very intense but I'm glad it goes by fast. So, don't expect a lot out of yourself, just do it and be surprised. Hmm, now thats a thought.

Today we had another "snow day". Seems like the western part of the county is one sheet of ice and even the VDOT trucks are having difficulties. I have heard thru the grapevine that my school system is planning a 2 hour delayed start for tomorrow. All depends on the thawing out and ice removal of the other side of the county. Gosh, I sure hope we go to school tomorrow.

I did Step Moves today. It was my 4th attempt at this workout and I finally got it! It was so much fun. I was tempted to do it again. Who knows, I just may do it again. Have nothing better to do. HA!

I used to ski. But its been a very long time, about 15 years at least. I'd love to try it again. But my ski's won't fit in my Mustang, they probably need wax and maintenance anyway, and I hate going "solo" on my adventures. Don't know anybody around here who likes to ski and can bum a ride with. So, I'll stick to Cathe, hiking and biking.

Success is sweet: the sweeter if long delayed and attained through manifold struggles and defeats. (A. Branson Alcott)

Another snowy day in Northern Virginia. Federal and most local government offices are closed. Quantico Marine Corps Base was also closed again today so no Thursday at Quantico for me. I'm working on revisions on a paper that will go to the editor for her magic touch tomorrow.

The snow plows came through last night and did their thing again. So this morning after walking Ripke, I picked up the shovel and cleared out the entrance to the driveway, again, and cleared a path to the mailbox. The sun is shining and we've got some good melting going on, particularly on the road. The 2-4 foot piles of snow will take longer to melt, but it is nice to see a good bit of pavement on the street. Our gutters also were frozen up, but they seem to be thawing and water is flowing through the downspout again, so that is good. ;)

Like sister, I did step moves today. That is quickly becoming a favorite--right up there with Rhythmic Step. Double Wave Pyramid on Sunday. Oh boy. Shoegal, I will adopt your approach and see how it goes. Plus it's supposed to be a challenge, right? I have to say right now I am looking foward to a day off from exercise tomorrow.

Laura: I also am not a skier. I've never tried, nor have I been tempted to try. I'm just not a cold weather person. Ripken and I do our walks in all weather, but when it's snowy, blowy, and cold, I'd rather stay inside.

Sister has already heard this one, but alas, the zipper on my LLBean parka of 20 years broke last night just a I pulled the zipper up around my neck in preparation for the night-time walkabout with Ripken. We could only get the zipper partially unzipped so Joe had to help me take my jacket off by pulling it over my head. He then engineered a temporary fix with a twisty tie, but we agreed it is probably a sign that I needed to order a new jacket. Fortunately, LLBean still has plenty of snow parkas in stock So, I have another on order. Should be here in 2-4 days. In the meantime, I'll be wearing my tried and true parka and using the twisty tie fix in order to zip and unzip. Thank goodness for those twisty ties.

~michelle

Did STS disc 6 legs. All my leg workouts are intense. But good.

Michelle, Are you enjoying working from home?

You made it to Week 1 of Meso 2. Congratulations! Not easy doing legs for me I'm afraid. Are they hard on you and your sister, or is it just me?

I am feeling more energetic these days. Have to take full advantage of that. LOL:D Thank you.

I'm missing our snow this year. Not even one flake.:(

Shoegal, I have Double Wave coming up in a couple of days. Love your description of it, now I'm not dreading it so much anymore. Just get it done and have fun. Right? I'm so sorry about your back. There are exercises for the back without laying down to do them. I want to be young again too, and need to be lots more careful. I know. (patting you on the back, gingerly). About our rotation. We're still modifying when needed, but we are getting back very fast. Thanks for the support.

Renee, I hope you go to school tomorrow too. Let us know. Yeah, I love Step Moves too. It's a keeper for sure.

It's sad that you can't find someone to go skiing with. If I was closer by you, I would, although I love snowshoeing too.:)

Michelle, Good job on Step Moves. I'm proud of you!LOL;) Your hubby engineered your parka in a tried and true way. What a husband!:D 20 years you had your parka? That's really good. I think I'll check out LLBean.

Good luck on the revisions of your paper.

Sounds like the snow storms have come to a halt. Seeing pavement is a good sign.

Have a great day everyone,

Janie

Hi everyone! I did Back & Triceps today, disc #8! My triceps were already a little sore from all the poling yesterday on my snowshoe. Really felt that workout today!:p

Shadowpup: kind of sounds like a nice break! It would kind of fun for me to be snowed in at a hotel! Enjoy Cardio Coach and hope you have a safe and uneventful trip home.

Janey: I know that I won't get super muscle bound but I don't know about lifting super heavy weights. I guess it will take some playing around with to get it right and it is a new mind set for me as well. But I was certainly lifting no where to my capacity before doing 1RM which I suppose the whole point of them! Good job, two weight days in a row! You must be feeling a lot better! So happy for you!:)

Michelle: well you must have mixed emotions when you see the plow truck coming! LOL! "oh great the roads are getting cleared! AND OH NO! Time to get that darn shovel out again!"" Well it sounds like a pretty consistent message about time off between cycles! Everyone has said that time off is important and if they didn't they regretted it.

Shoegal: I love your story about dating a ski instructor! That is cute! :D I haven't tried the Pyramid yet but need to soon. I would like another 30 minute workout for cardio and I like it if it doesn't require equipment. I am glad you listened to your body about the ab section, there is always more than one way to skin a cat or work a muscle so need to do the ones that hurt!

Catchick: 4 attempts to get Step Moves down sounds good! It will probably take me 40 attempts!:( Something about the tv messes me up on the step, it is hard for me to get the moves. I want to do more step but hate to take the time to learn it. I was thinking of getting some of the more basic step Cathe has to get more familiar with it again but I am afraid that it might be to basic...

Well thought I would check in early today but nothing to respond to!

today is my rest day...eating has been good lately not squeaky clean but within calorie ranges for the most part!

Have a good day everyone!

Meant to post earlier - but didn't have any time!!!

Geesh - what a day - but goodness the week is almost over.:D

Anybody have some Valentine's Day plans scheduled??? Rex and I decided early on to go to dinner at Cliffords - a very small and exclusive restaurant that is ALWAYS booked. It is exclusive because it is soooo small and has great food. We like it there and can bring a bottle of wine of our choice with us. We couldn't get a reservations on V Day so we are going on the 19th. We'll exchange cards then too.

Last night I did High Step Training. Except I did a premix that left out the cardio portion of it. We are talking mega amounts of leg presses - like 6 sets of those - sit and stands - I was feeling it but it felt fantastic ;). I actually was a little lazy and didn't get around to working out until after 10 or so - but thought - hey - have to do it!!!

DH and I finished "The Art of Racing in the Rain" and as it turns out - it got more and more interesting - although I wouldn't say it was the best thing I ever read - it had it's moments. We began reading "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" - (odd vague title I thought) but DH stopped me and said he had just read that and he wanted to move on. So not sure now what we'll read.

Laura - Enjoy your rest - I know you deserve it - my eating has been relatively good as well - but I also have some wiggle room there to improve. Does Bo get anything special for the girls on V Day - do they exchange Valentine's in school?

Michelle - sorry about your parka - I think we all have a beloved piece of clothing we never want to part with but sounds like you have a identical replacement so that is a good thing. Your story of the snow plow reminded me of funny email going around about that very thing. I want to find it and send it to you.

Janie - putting in some good workouts - it is so good to hear. :D Enjoy Double Wave Pyramid - yeah - just knock it out and don't worry about it - you will get through it just fine.

Oh my - ok time for me go - I'm so ready for the weekend!! Oh - if I don't tell everyone on Sunday - Have A Happy Valentine's Day - and Happy Birthday to Joe!!!

Hi all, wanted to let you know I'm back! There were quite a few relieved people on my flights home, I can tell you that! The airport was practically empty by the time I left yesterday ... It's nice to be home. Got in slightly after midnight.

Workouts while I was gone: Cardio Coach 2, 8; TRX Flexibility, TRX Strength. And finally Travel Fit!

More later. There are several hungry horses, impatient kitties, and barking dogs who are waiting for me to get off the computer and come *play*

I am just loving meso cycle 2. Just finished disc 16, chest, shoulders and tri's. Chest is giving me the biggest challenge, but I love it! Tomorrow is double Wave Pyramid, and am really looking forward to it. Just do it, the best I can, with no expectations...OK, I'm gonna try that approach.

Yesterday I looked up at my iron gym and said "hey, haven't tried that in a while." So up and down I went...4 chin-ups. That may not sound like much, but when one was once a struggle I am tickled to be able to do 4! Thanks STS.

My school system did indeed have school yesterday!! It was great. Love those little kids. We were on a delay, but thats okay.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

~Renee

Did a lot of errands yesterday. Baby sat with Adriane for a few hours. Did more errands after that and finely got home late. Was beat, and didn't post. Time fly's so fast sometimes that before you know it, it's time for bed. Jeesh!

Yesterday early morning, did Insanity Core Cardio & Balance also Cardio Recovery.

Today did BBL Bum Bum and SC Double Wave Pyramid. Oh My Gosh! Modified and got through it, with now expectations. Whew! Have a rest day coming tomorrow and Monday.

Laura, Great job on disc 8 especially when you went snowshoeing the day before. Did you have fun snowshoeing and when will you be able to do that again?

Yes, I think a new mindset is very well put. This is going to be good for you.

Shoegal, Not sure what we will be doing on Valentines day, but I know a card exchange, and perhaps a quite dinner at home then a movie in our home theater.

High Step Training is a great workout. Haven't done one with a premix. That is a lot of leg presses. Good job!

Can't wait to get started on Sherlock Holmes. Sounds like you enjoyed them with DH. What will you guys be reading/listening to, next?

Deborah, Glad your ordeal has finally come to an end.:) Your workouts are fantastic. Did you like Travel Fit? Enjoy playing with your lovely animals and talk to you later after you get settled in.

How long did it take to get your versa gripps. I'm waiting, but impatient. LOL

Renee, Double Wave Pyramid is so cool. A challenge for sure, with a positive mind set for sure, will get you through it. Still can't do even one chin-up, so a high 5 for you accomplishing such a great task. Very proud of you.

Have a wonderful day.

Janie

Yesterday was my break day and first day back in the office. Traffic was not great going in or coming home. But it could have been alot worse. Folks who go all the way into the District had the worst commute--the main roads in Virginia were cleared, but once vehicles hit the DC line, the snow removal was not so good and four lanes of traffic were down to one or two lanes. Eventually, that just backs everything up into Virginia. Hopefully, things will be better on Tuesday morning after the Presidents' Day weekend.

Like sister, I also did STS disc 16 today. So far so good on meso 2, but my arms are really feeling the glow this evening. Sounds like I've got Double Wave Pyramid on the docket for tomorrow. Janie and Shoegal are inspiring me to go with the flow and enjoy it. I'll let you know how I fare.

Shadowpup: glad you got home okay. I'm sure all your animals will be clamouring for your attention this weekend. I was disappointed that the weather impeded our meeting up while you were here. We'll just have to keep trying.

Janie: Sounds like you are really enjoying your rotation. I was running errands today as well. Had to go to the Hallmark store and Walmart to pick up a couple of things. Ran into Kohls and got a couple of workout shirts for 60 percent off--love deals like that. And yes, the STS leg workouts have been the toughest for me so far.

Shoegal: We'll do cards and presents tomorrow and then dinner tomorrow night. Someplace local and hopefully not too busy. LOL! I'll pass your birthday wishes along to Joe. High step advanced training is one of my favorites. Love all those leg presses. I haven't done a high step workout in a while and probably won't until I get through STS.

Laura: so are you a big fan of the winter olympics? You are so active in winter sports, I imagine you must enjoy the winter games.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.
~michelle

Well spent the day with a seriously needed Clean Max! Feels so much better but still have the upstairs to do...I wasn't sure if I would get my workout in..I had a debate with myself and decided that I absolutely HAD to clean as a priority as working out usually is! But decided to throw in 4DS KB, which I have been wanting to do for awhile and it is only 30 minutes! I LOVE that one! It does have a more upbeat feeling to it than some of the new shock Cardio and it is non-stop! I always want more when I do it so tonight I decided to keep going and threw in SC: MMA Boxing! Felt great to do them together actually.....

Shoegal: Bo is taking me out to dinner tomorrow night. Our local pizza place is actually owned and by a really good chef and he does this very special dinner that is supposed to be excellent. I know it sounds funny, going to the pizza place for dinner! But don't worry we won't be having pizza! It is a 5 course meal with paired alcohol. They even put white table cloths on the table! I will be sure to tell you how it went. The girls had their Valentines Party at school on Friday. They have to make all their Valentine cards from scratch, no store bought ones, so we had a total of 44 cards to make over the last week!! They also had their school play last week so we have been busy. I really want to get the High Step DVD's.

Shadowpup: welcome home and glad you arrived safely!

Catchick: Glad to hear such a positive report on STS! Awesome job on the pushups! That is a great advancement indeed! I love hearing a teacher who loves her job and her kids!!

Janey: busy, busy lady, errands workouts and babysitting! PHEW! So how would you compare Cathe's Hiit workouts to Insanity workouts? The girls have winter break this coming week so I doubt I can get out for a snow shoe this week. Plus we are expecting some supper cold weather coming in, 8 degrees in Denver so we will be in the negatives for sure.

Michelle: please be careful out there on those roads!! Yes I love the winter games. Figure skating has always been a favorite of mine even as a little girl. Enjoy the pyramid and let me know how you did!

Did anybody see the Canadien Women's Hockey team slaughter Slovokia last night. It was awesome for the Canadiens but not so much for the Slovokians. 18-0! I played "fliipy" channel all night watching NBC and CNBC and the Virginia Tech basketball game. Lots of good sports on last night.

Any how, I did HiiT DWPyramid this morning. Eh, its okay. I did it without expectations. Got thru it fine, lots of sweat. Happy it was done in 30 minutes.

I'm always hungry these days. I do eat clean, use whey protein, eat alot of meat and fresh veggies, but I am always hungry, hungry, hungry. And to top it off, I've lost a few pounds. I'll go in spurts.Drop 2-4 pounds in a couple of weeks and then plateau for 3-4 weeks. Then it does it again, and always around that time of the month. Strange. Don't most women gain weight during their period? Sister and I have discussed this a little, but she said everyone is different. Okay, fine. What is your take on this? Just curious.

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.
Vince Lombardi

Happy Sunday!!
~Renee

Happy Valentines! Are you all having a great day?

Had fun with Step moves today. Nice and sweaty. LOL

Michelle, Commuting doesn't sound fun in the after affects of snow storms. Don't envy you at all. Stay safe while you travel to and from.

You and your sister both are doing such a good job with your workouts. Consistency is what you both have. Can't get better than that.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels legs are tough.

I like Kohls too, but it takes so darn long to get through the lines. Reminds me, I should look there for a swimsuit before I leave for the cruise. ummmm.:)

Laura, Oh no, you mentioned cleanmax! I'll clean later in the week. It does feel good when I clean my home.

Love the little war with yourself. You won out anyway. Congratulations! You are good. A true exercise person and a trooper. Doing two workouts when you weren't even going to do one. That's great.:)

Insanity: I believe are more constant in intensity. Very tightly structured. Using the same/similar exercises throughout the program. So glad I have these.

Cathe: Different intensity's to allow more people to explore a HIIT experience. Or when you need a HIIT day but warn out from heavy lifting or from an intense exercise. There is one for when you have a lot of energy to burn off. Can use two at a time, one after the other. A great variety to chaotically confuse the body. Cathe did a remarkable job on these.

I don't think I've ever been in negative weather before. That's got to be cold! Burrrrrrrrrr:confused: Do stay warm.

Renee, Wish I was more into sports, but just never got that bug.

I think DWP is more of a drill type. I like it, cause it is so different and short sweet and to the point.

I don't like being hungry. When I am, I try to eat (clean of course) until I feel only a little hunger. Did that make sense?

In my experience, when I had periods, I always gained 5 pounds during that time. Every body is different though. I've never heard of anyone losing weight during that time. But, Bodies are complicated. One size don't fit all. We are all unique.

Hello to everyone else, hope to hear from you soon.

Hi to Everyone!!!

Very low key weekend. DH and I drove up north for a walk - brought the snow shoes and decided to go without them - hard going - but fun. I told him that it was actually easier to run in the deep snow than to push through it - at least I thought so. We turned back after awhile - then "hung out" there in the snow for awhile. It really didn't seem cold - although I wasn't really as prepared as I could have been. We stopped off at a place called "North Country Brewery" in Slippery Rock. They sell all different types of beer and feature local wines - also have really great food - so we hung out there as well.

Laura - it sounds like you attended a wine dinner. A 5 course dinner paired with wine - was it wine - or other liquor? I think that sounds like the perfect thing to do. Actually - going to a pizza place sounds fabulous to me!!!! Unfortunately - I LOVE pizza - I'd rather have that than anything!!! Hope you enjoyed yourself - did you bring the girls? What did they get for Valentine's Day? Wonderful work on your workouts - throwing on the 4DS KB and getting it done along with SC Kickbox - wow - good job!!

Janie - I liked hearing your impressions of SC and Insanity - I have read other people tell me that Insanity isn't as high impact than SC - wonder what he does to get the heart rate so high???

Catchick -I'm very impressed with 4 chin ups - can't do one! Sounds as if you are lukewarm on DWP - well there are plenty of other workouts out there - maybe this one wasn't your cup of tea. So glad you finally got back to school - I think everyone must have been itching to get back.

Michelle - Do you have MORE SNOW in the forecast? We are now in the 2-4 inch category for today and tomorrow. Yeah - more snow - but I'm loving it. Glad you are enjoying STS - Meso 2 - how time flies. Enjoy your new workout shirts. Glad you made it back into work - the commute sounded awful. Wow - just 2 lanes are open - I can imagine how that backs things up!!

Shadowpup - I bet you are glad to be home. How did you like TravelFit? Give us an update on your weekend when you have a chance.

Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day - and a great day today!!!

Had fun doing DWP yesterday and STS disc 17, legs, today. All this talk about clean eating is making me feel like I ought to clean up my act a little bit. We'll see.

DH had a very nice birthday yesterday. He was very surprised with his gift: an 8-inch Chen Shun Onion chef's knife. It is a beautiful knife. He washed it right up, proceeded to slice his finger while doing so, and then put his knife in it's display stand and found a prominent place for it in the kitchen. We went out to eat last night at the local Japanese restaurant. It is owned locally and the food is always outstanding.

Shoegal: it snowed a little bit here. No additional accumulation--just got the dry surfaces wet. A low key weekend is kind of what we had. Exercised, putzed around the house, ran errands, watched some of the Olympics.

Laura: home made Valentine's cards sound like fun. You do so much with your girls. They are going to remember all the time you spent with them forever. You obviously enjoy being a mom.

Janie: so did you get through all the choreography in Step Moves? I really love that workout. Sister and I are partial to Cathe's step workouts--I think that is why she seems lukewarm on DWP.

Speaking of sister, just got off the phone with her. She had an appointment with an oral surgeon today to look at a spot in the back of her mouth. They did a biopsy to check that it isn't cancer. Well, Sister has a well established history of not doing real well with procedures of any kind. She tends to pass out. She told the surgeon this and he kind of chuckled. Uh huh--he wasn't chuckling for long. Out she goes, heartbeat stops, the whole nine yards. So, she basically had a near death experience today, but is okay. Our mom was with her at the doctor's office and figured something was up when lots of people starting going in and out of the room that sister was in. Mom drove sister home after they finally got the procedure done and is sitting with her for a while just to be sure her youngest doesn't keel over again. I'll let her tell you about the near death part. The oral surgeon thinks the spot in her mouth is just fleshy tissue that has developed over time since she had her wisdom teeth removed. She'll get the results of the biopsy next Monday. I'm trying not too get too worked up about all this because I don't want sister to flip out too.

Okay--enough excitement for one day.
Stay motivated.
~michelle

Didn't have a chance to post yesterday, but I did get my workouts in. I did STS Disc #9 Legs, Pilates inspired Abs, and Stretch Max with the ball. I have to say I am not so motivated by the legs in STS, I can't put my finger to the reason, but lately I have been procrastinating doing them, I haven't skipped one yet, but really have to psyche myself up to do them! I like a lot of the exercises, I am feeling DOMS so I should be psyched about that, I love the drills on the end of the workout but I don't enjoy the workouts... anyone else feel this way about legs in Meso 1? I hope to move through it soon..

So I have to confess that I have been terribly, terribly hungover all day from a wonder dinner and way to much beer last night! The meal was fabulous, really one of the better meals I have ever had, all the food were considered aphrodisiacs and were paired with beers from a local brewery. Apparently some of the beers had really, really high alcoholic contents, some up to 10.5% and each course had a different beer served with it and since I have not been drinking much at all with the South Beach Diet it really hit me hard! I had fun though although today was a wash and makes it so NOT WORTH DRINKING! (like that anyways..) So needless to say I had a day off and a completely worthless day all around other than spending lots of time snuggling my girls and lying around which was nice despite the terrible headache and nauseous stomach!!ΩΩ

Catchick: caught some Olympics on line today. It was fun. I never ever lose weight TTOTM. I ALWAYS gain and up to 5 lbs, but it never stays around, thankfully, so I think it is mostly water weight as I tend to crave more salty foods then. I know I have heard that our metabolisms are actually higher while menstruating so maybe that is why you lose? I hope you are ok after your experience today and I would love to hear you tell us more about it! Very SCARY! ((((HUGS))))

Shoegal: sounds like a great time with your DH and the snow! Isn't it so beautiful? I had a great time last night thanks for asking, actually to much fun and way to high of a price for having it! Totally worthless all day, so not worth it! The girls went to a friend's Valentines Party. She goes to a different school and had all of the girls from her class there. It took my girls a little bit of time to settle in but they ended up having a great time! Kids still make friends so quickly at this age.

Janie: Thanks for that comparison! I still want to get Insanity but not until I am done with STS. I have so many dvd's already and the idea of a new workout is always so tempting I have to keep myself in line....I hardly have time to do the ones I have and I like to wait and hear what people think of the new workouts before I buy them. I even held out on STS for awhile. I didn't with Shock Cardio though as I wanted them to do with STS...I won't say I am disappointed in them, because I am not, but I can't honestly say they are my favorites of Cathe's either and I am already looking back at some of her oldies and goodies for my Cardio DVD days...so I again I am happy to have them, and love the MMA in particular, but I might have had lower expectations or not bought the whole series if I had waited as I normally do to hear others comments..

Michelle: I think I missed one of your posts, about the shopping trip, I will go back and find it afterwards. Thanks for sharing about Renne, how scary !! i hope she is better now and she is doing ok with the whole experience.
