3) I have 1 child and intend to keep it that way. :p

My turn...

1. I was born in NJ and lived there until I was 9, but I consider myself more of a Floridian at heart, since I lived there during my pre-teen and teenage years. I have also lived in New Orleans, Paris (for a year), and Atlanta (where I am now.)

2. My DH and I are high school sweethearts. We've been together since we were 16, and we've known each other since we were 12. We used to live on the same block.

3. My dad and step-brother-in-law are planning to drive 1.5 hours each way just to have lunch with me the Friday afternoon of the July Road Trip. I am touched that they would do that.

Can I add a fourth?

4. I have no idea what a "Bucket base edge shroud system" is! Emily? Care to elaborate?

Three things you may not know about me:

1) I'm an only child (but there's a strange, soap-opera-like backstory to this)

2) I have double-jointed elbows.

3) I published a book in French (an adaptation of my thesis)

1) I'm #11 of 12 kids (8 girls, 4 boys - good Catholic family! ;-) )

2) I'm working toward my black belt in Tae Kwon Do. In fact, my DH, DD13 and DD11 are, too. DH and I are green belts; the kids are purple belts.

3) We have the most "dog-like" cats I've ever met. (ie. follow you from room to room, rush to the door when the doorbell rings)

Jodi, I was wondering if anyone would be bored enough to look up my patent! ;) I should've prefaced my patent-holding achievement with the fact that it's an absurdly boring patent - it's just a design patent. Anyway, let me see if I can explain...

I design "ground engaging tools" for underground wheel loaders (also known as Load-Haul-Dump machines). They (LHD machines) look like this:
http://www.cemf.ca/SponsorsPartners/Inco/ThomjpsonBirchtreeScooptram.jpg
Ground Engaging Tools protect the bucket (the part that scoops up dirt and rocks) from excessive wear and early breakage. It can also help the bucket penetrate the dirt better, increasing productivity.

My "bucket base edge shroud system" is a series of specially-designed cast metal pieces that are welded onto the bottom front edge of the bucket. They essentially shroud the base edge of the bucket. (The base edge being the piece of steel plate that makes up the bottom front edge of the bucket). I told you it was boring! ;)

1) Born & raised in NYC

2) married for 20 yrs come this June

3) proud mom of three dd 17, ds 15 , dd 9

Emily, the patent is not boring at all -- very cool, and the picture even better. I went to look it up before scrolling all the way through this thread and couldn't get the patent database to display any figures (missing a plug-in on my end, I think). I was picturing equipment not that big, even though I had figured out it was for mining. Do you do welding?

My three things:

1) I've lived in Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, and (now) California
2) I can ride a unicycle, though haven't in more than 30 years (so maybe I can't anymore!)
3) I am married with two sons (9 and 6) and we have 15 chickens, two turkey chicks, 12 eggs hatching, and 1 occasional peacock.

I love this Debbie.

1. I worked at Hersheypark for three years when I was in college and during the second year, I was the "Voice of Hersheypark" who made all the annoucements.

2. I have a son with Prader Willi Syndrome, who moved into a group home almost two years ago. He has lost over 100 pounds, has a job and a girlfriend. My DD has an 18 month old son with severe brain damage. I'm not looking for pity with these facts. I just think they are an important part of who I am.

2. I love reading, birdwatching, hiking, beaches, chocolate and my DH. Not neccessarily in that order. Chocolate may come first.}(
