Favorite Wines?

Thanks for all the great suggestions! It's always nice to find new wines that won't break the bank. I love some of the creative names and labeling. I'm a sucker for those! I personally have found that I tend to like the cheaper wines - what does that say about me???? LOL

I thought of another that's pretty good - Rex Goliath Pinot Noir

CHEERS!

Love this thread!

3 Blind Moose Riesling (not too sweet...fabulous w/ sushi)

Beringer Founder's Estate - Merlot

Blackstone Merlot

Jacobs Creek Merlot (Australia)

Local Wines from Les Tres Emme Winery in the Berkshires....a WONDERFUL winery to visit in New England.

Seeing as we all love wines...perhaps we should start a daily challenge group thread. There are some days I have to tell myself that I cannot have my wine unless I workout. Would be nice to have a wine-lovers support group!

... For an inexpensive everyday wine, my favorite is a Sicilian wine carried at Trader Joe's. It is Archeo Ruggero di Tasso / Nero d'Avola (winemaker/grape), and costs around $5...

I second Michelle's recommendation for an inexpensive red. I tried a few of the Italian reds at Trader Joe's and this one was my favorite, too. I liked it better than some of the pricier bottles.
I like the Cline Zin's that have been mentioned by others. Just spent the weekend in Sonoma and visited them.

I'm not a fan of the oaky chardonnays but for a light, crisp white, I like a lot of the New Zealand Sauv Blanc's. KONO is my current "house white"

Like Sheila and Michelle, I like the Nero d'Avola grape. I was told, however, that if it's not done right, it's HORRID. We don't have a Trader Joe's here. Wonder if you can find that one elsewhere?

Forever39 might be onto something too!

I am loving these suggestions and I look forward to trying them. I'd love to get my hands on some pineapple wine!

For those of you who really like sweet wines, New York State has a number of goodies. One of my all time favorites is Saumon made by the Treleaven/King Ferry Winery. It's a nice white zin that isn't sickening sweet but dang good! The Finger Lakes region of New York has some fabulous wineries and wine trails. Get a designated driver :p

Often times retailers will give you a discount if you buy a case so if you really love wine you might be able to mix & match and save some money doing it.

Ohio has some wonderful wineries! I love the wines form Kelley's Island Wine Company. http://www.kelleysislandwine.com/index.html

If you like dry, they have 2 standouts: Inscription White - A dry Alsace-style white crafted with Gewurztraminer grapes, and one called Indian Red which is a dry table wine.

If you like sweet they have 2 that I love: SunSet Pink is a semi sweet wine, and Long Sweet Red which is also a semi sweet wine.

Heather - I did a quick search online, and don't see the wine carried anywhere other than Trader Joe's.

Catherine - I'm a fan of the Mark West Pinot, too.

And yes, after all the wine talk last night I decided to open a bottle, too.

This is a great thread!!

I LOVE red wine! These are two of my favorites and they are very reasonably priced!

Concannon's Petite Sirah(limited release & heritage) is smooth, fabulous, and full of flavor! This one is my favorite.

Menage a Trois's Red Table Wine is a zin, merlot, cab blend. Very good. This one used to be my favorite until I tried Concannon. :D

I think I'll pop into the liquor store on my way home from work tonight!

Raymond (Napa) - all of their reds are delicious, especially the Cabs
Seghesio Zinfandel (Napa)
Provenance Cab (Napa)

Yeah, . . .a shout out to the Napa wines. I have to many to list but I would have to say my all time favorite is Elyse, Zin 2006 cest ce bon.

I have two favorites:

Marco Negri-sweet reisling
Raptor Ridge-pinot gris watch this one it sneaks up on you.

These are both white wines haven't found a red one I like yet.

Lord knows I NEED a Wine Lover's Support Group! I'd have some every night, but my DH keeps me regulated! I actually asked if he wanted a bottle tonight - we had spaghetti for dinner - he thought about it, then said, "Well, we're going to drink a couple of bottles at Thanksgiving." That was a no!

That's 2 weeks away! What am I supposed to do between now and then! :(:(

Can we have that support group, please?

I support you marching your butt over to the wine rack and cracking one open. Enjoying a lovely chard as I type. :p

I really like:

Edmeades Mendocino Zinfandel - my favorite zin right now.
Yellowtail Shiraz/Cabernet blend is pretty good.
Louis M. Martini Cabernet is also good.

I tried Da Vinci Chianti last night and really liked it with pizza.
I have also not found a Malbec I did not enjoy. They are usually priced well, too.

You can see I really like reds, but an excellent white wine for summer is
Starborough Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. It is bright, zippy with lots of grapefruit and lime flavor and goes great with goat cheese salad.

Thanks for all the other suggestions, I am putting them on my list to try.
