It took me 8 years to get a 4-year degree because the cost was all on me. If I had it to do all over again I'd have retired from the military (retirement at age 30, oh man), then I'd have gotten the job I now have (post office, great retirement benefits IF you participate). I would have worked nights and would have gone to school days. It would still probably take 8 years but, meanwhile, I'd have been fabulously "set" for retirement. I'm surrounded by people who had the foresight to do just that. One guy retired with postal/military retirement two years ago and he has plenty of money to travel and do lots of stuff. You can always get a degree and, unless your parents paid for it and you went right out of high school, it will probably take you forever, anyway so you might as well get an early start on your retirement savings (even now, with the bank failings). Please don't feel like a failure. I don't feel like a failure because it took me so long though, obviously, I could kick myself for not planning it all out better.
