Damage Control December

Hi Ladies,

I've caught whatever bug is going around. It's mostly sinus pain/pressure and headache, and no energy. My planned workout didn't happen. Perhaps tonight if I'm feeling up to it.

Yesterday I ate so much candy-ugh. Talking the talk is so much easier than walking the walk. Today will be much better I hope. We are having a Christmas Pot-Luck and gift exchange today.

I still have so much to do to get ready for Christmas that I may take Friday off to check some things off my very long to do list.

Tina-you are a glutton for punishment! I'm sure you can handle it after STS though. I had to use a 6" step for the first 2 or 3 exercises in PH#2 and just left it there for the rest of the workout. I think I only got 8 jumps/hops to Cathe's 12 though. :) I may drop down to just the platform for the 1st 2 exercises and build my way up. Normally white elephant is a gag gift, where 1 person opens the gift, person 2 has the option to steal the gift or open a new gift, all other folks have the option of either stealing the gift from someone else or opening a new gift. Gifts can only be stolen twice, so the third person who has the gift gets to keep it. In our case, we are playing the game, but it is a real gift and not a gag gift. Not sure what a yankee swap is, so you tell me if they are the same. :)

Wow, everyone is getting into the new workouts! I did LIHIBSB on Monday and LICST Tuesday. My upper body is good and sore. I think I'm going to go do the Lower Body Circuit from LIHI now. I really have to undo some damage at work today-named sugar cookies. That's why this thread is Damage Control, right?!

On another positive note the plumbing work was wrapped up Monday and the carpenter is coming Sat. to start the ceiling and light repair. Maybe it'll be in good shape for Christmas! Also, my Penn Stater comes home Friday for 3 weeks!

Di - I have done the first Max30 - Cardio Challenge .. and yes it was a challenge .. very much like insanity .. but a little more controlled .. he only gives liks 4 - 30 - second rests .. I can tell I havent been doing that kind of workout in a while! Cathe has had my butt and legs on FIRE!! tonight is another max30 - Tabata ... we will see how that one goes~

Beth - I am Laura - from Alabama - and work in customer service/collections of utility company .. eeeeekk .. I call my job/place the ASYLUM .. b/c it is always INSANE .. busy busy busy ..

Today was LIH 1&2 combined premix and HCLB all blasts premix. I think it timed out at around 75 min. Yesterday was RWH BSB and GS BSB. I really enjoy lifting with DH in the evenings. He keeps me laughing. We always answer Cathe's rhetorical questions in unison , "Can you feel that"? "YESSSS"! I'm really enjoying the new workouts but for some reason I really want to do a week of 4DS. I need to squeeze it in before my next round of STS.

Diana, I hope you're feeling better. I'm feeling I need to take a day and just check things off my list too.

Beth, yay to having your college student home for the holidays! :)

Laura, I used to work in collection years ago. I was the bleeding heart that always gave really long extensions to everyone who was nice. Not my forte for sure. Our electricity rates are going up 50% this month in NH. Aren't you glad you don't work in this state?

Off to try and get something accomplished. I feel like I'm running in circles. :/
 
Hi Ladies,

I'm working from home today and got to sleep in! It made a huge difference in how I feel. I'm still taking some cold meds to keep the congestion at bay. I did my workout over the lunch hour-To The Max Extreme!

Tonight is the last night of class so I'm going to try to make it. Spring fitness challenge (class at the rec ctr) starts in late January or early February. I also need to look into the swimming class and tri training and get my spring tri training planned out. I'm scheduled to run a 10K on Saturday and will run if I'm feeling up to it.

Last night I finally decorated the tree! I still have filing, wrapping, mailing etc to do. It's just so much more manageable and less Istressful when I'm home. My company is closed Christmas through New Years and we are forced to use PTO (paid time off).

LL-I can't imagine how busy the apple store was. I purchased an ipod for DH from there and had to return it, they couldn't fix it and had to give me a new one. From then on I stick to getting my apple products from other stores. It's also nice getting a 5% discount at Target.

Beth-I'm sure it's nice having your kids home for the holidays! Yay, hopefully the kitchen is all repaired in time for Christmas!! I'm looking forward to hearing how you like the circuits. I haven't tried either of them yet. Tomorrow I hope to do Plyo HIIT #1 and one of the bonus abs.

Laura-good to have you pop in. I'm really behind this year too. I look forward to hearing more about Max 30. Hopefully I will be able to order it soon.

Tina-I always talk back to Cathe too! Have you tried all the new discs? I still have the circuits and plyo hiit 1 to go. Which ones are your favorite? 4DS, hhmm...haven't done those in a long time. I sometimes do the kickbox/bootcamp premix, and I recall really liking the shoulder work, and disliking all the pushups on the chest w/o! I think GS is my favorite weight series although I also enjoy Xtrain. It's nice to have so many options!

Hey girlies ..

TWO DAYS in a row - WOW ..

did Max30 TABATA - WOW - loads of fun! and VERY different - lots of low and high squat jumps - burpees into plyo split lunge - burpee into kick front - the on n off part .. HA ... the 10 second rest part of the "tabata" was a run/jog/prance in place .. o_O ....and then he goes into a pushup torture - I for sure maxed out on those (couldnt do allof them) .. then it was on to TRICEPS ... holy cow ... I thought my arms were going to fall off .. they were cramping up .... geesh .. all body weight - no weights!! ... DOMS: shoulders/tris/butt ... tonight is Sweat Intervals - it is supposed to be harder than the cardio challenge :eek: ummmmmm I hope I dont pass out!! :p

Beth - yes there are goodies everywhere here - between customers bringing them .. and employees trying to bring them to get rid of them at their homes .. ugh .. DAMAGE CONTROL for sure!

Tina - 50% increase - OH MY!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: nope I couldnt handle collections or complaint calls there for sure! I have been here for 25 years and heard it all .. so I dont have that bleeding heart real bad .. except for the elderly .. those break my heart .. b/c you know they are struggling .. I work with them till I cant anymore .. yes . takes a special kinda person to do this job (and that is not necessessarily a compliment for me lol)

DI - DH did get me a tree .. and I finally got it decorated last night .. WOOHOO .. one week before xmas .. Brutus was losing his mind when he brought it in .. hope I still have a tree and ornaments when I get home! tonight is the dreaded WRAPPING of the gifts and figuring out what I have forgot!! HA

Diana- Actually it's Springboard Media: Apple Specialist store. And it wasn't too bad, I dropped it off paid my $115 and picked it up today and happy that it is faster and I'm not getting sent to random "Mac Keeper" sites!

Poochy-Max30 sounds interesting!! I have had my eye on that for a while. I have a friend who is willing to lend me Insanity so I can see if I will even like Shawn T. Max30 scares me right now, just like the new RWH did/does!

So.....I finally got off my butt and did RWH Low Impact 1!! OK, I didn't start sweating until half way thru, but then it just took off! I couldn't do everything and keep up with her. Those burped-like moves are cool and fun, but I couldn't keep up! My butt is so sore! (is that what DOMS is?) And I'm wondering why that is since normally I feel it the next day and I didn't do a butt workout....Tomorrow I think I'm going to try to do LIHI Chest, Triceps, Shoulders.
 
Last night DH and I did the standing portion of PLB. I finished the floor work this morning. I also did HCUB, upper body mixed with core premix. It was a lot like BC, I really enjoyed this one. It times out at 59 min.

Diana, sounds like you're feeling more than better. TTM extreme? Yup, you're all better. I have tried all the workouts and now I'm playing with premixes. I think so far my favorites are HCUB, LIH #1, and both upper body workouts. How does PTO work? At least you'll be home for the holidays. :)

Laura, your workouts sound exhausting. I'll have to check them out.

LL, we just had to have our computer fixed too. The tech we talked to was having computer problems also. I asked him "so who do you call to fix your system"? How did you like CTS today?

I got my butt kicked last night-it was the 12 Days of Christmas w/o. Unfortunatley sleep was not on my side and I ended up taking melatonin around 12:30. I did manage to get up at 6 at do Plyo Hiit #1. Goodness, I need to work on this one. I had to rewind a bit to see some of the moves, it's a keeper for sure! The scale was kind to me this morning too!!

Laura-Shaun's body weight work is no joke! Hope I can get this series after the holidays. My 1st car payment is due on the 25th, and it's a mighty hefty payment. That's what happens when you don't trade anything in or make a down payment. Love the updates!

LL-glad you got mac back and it's working great! Woo Hoo, you've joined us on the RWH frenzy!!! DOMs-Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness-sounds like you have it! :) I couldn't keep up with cathe on the burpees in PH#1this morning either. Just do your best. You will love Shaun T! He's awesome!

Tina-I have the circuits and low impact still to go. Perhaps one on Sunday and the other on Monday. I have a 10K scheduled for tomorrow morning, if I can fit it in. DH and I will have to plan our weekend To Do list and finish up everything for Christmas. One of my favorite lower body premixes is from SuperSets-Lower body blast premix. It's only about 30 minutes long, but it does the trick if I'm short on time. At this new job we accrue 30 days off per year. This 30 days includes the 7 holiday they give us as well as the 6 days of forced PTO, basically 13 days per year. The remaining days are to be used for vacation and sick time. I just don't like them telling me when to use my time off. By the time January gets here, I will be starting at 0 days off. UGH.

Hey Ladies ..

TGIF .. but man oh man has it been INSANE at the asylum .. YIKES .. not only are we shorthanded .. but we are slammed busy .. then I get cussed out and screamed at for a solid 30 minutes by a thug JERK .. while by coworker was getting cusssed and yelled at by an elderly man .. and the sales guy was getting fussed at by a couple ... MAN .. whatta day!!!

I did MAX30 - Sweat Intervals last night .. OH MY .. it was harder than the Cardio Challenge and my dang body was sore from Tabata .. so far LOVING these workouts .. was gonna workout today .. but after being slammed .. and being cussed at and yelled at I am going on home and settle in for some down time!!! CABS all around for this girl tonight!

LL - if you have someone that has T-25 that would be better to start off with trying SeanT .. Insanity is INSANE ... and longer workouts .. T-25 is much better program to me .. MAX30 is just right .. it is like he combined the insanity and speed of Insanity w/the safety and control of T-25 ..

Tina - it is so cool your DH works out with you .... mine would NEVER ..

Di - you must be feeilng better getting those TUFF workouts in!! whew!

I only got in 17 min of LIHI chest triceps and shoulders: premix one set and no finishers. It was all I had time for. I wish I had time for more it was tough but good! I only have up to 25# dumbbells' but 30s are coming for Christmas! My thighs and bum are screaming at me! It was hard just going down and getting up on the step to do chest work! I am not sure what I can handle tomorrow. I'd like to do low impact 2 but I'm just not sure my legs can do it.

Well, it was a nice 2 weeks of being sick free in our house: JTrain has a fever, so the cookies I made late last night for tonights Christmas party that JTrain and CDawg were going to, got eaten by the healthy ones around here. Healthy, maybe "winter well" is a better description, Little K and I are still coughing up a storm and B and Little K both have runny noses.

As for Shown T, I would love to try out T25 instead of Insanity,but I only know one person who has it and I don't see her anymore since she stopped going to our CoOp and she only had it on a thumb drive.

Poochy- did you get the containers with max30? Are you doing the food plan? I feel like that is key. And I'm completely failing at it this week! Part of me doesn't even want to try because I might be setting myself up to fail and beat myself up but I fear if I don't try to be good, I will put on 10 pounds!!

Today was a frigid 23.6 degree bike ride. I'm still waiting for the feeling to return to my fingers and toes. It was so worth it! :)

Diana, I tried Melatonin one night and wasn't able to sleep all night. I actually did the reverse and gave me insomnia. I can't believe you would even think of working out after a 10K. I'd have to take a few days off after something like that. :eek:

Man, Fembot! I don't know how you bike in the cold!! Kudos to you!

Slow to start day, we all slept in until 8:30 even Little K!! The 3 younger boys got all their Christmas gifts made for the grand parents: I had $2 ornaments with inserts for pictures for Little K to give, I took his pic and completed those, B painted his ceramic items and CDawg made chocolate dipped pretzels! JTrain was in bed all day, he's making candles again this year, but will be decorating the glass the candles go in with monograms.

I was able to help them with all that, get in low impact 2 with bonus abs 1 and run some errands. Now I'm working on making chocolate covered chocolate chip cookie dough after I made the dough for the currant cookies (needs to sit overnight since it uses spelt flour). Talk about Damage Control needed!!

Hi Ladies,

No run and no workout to report. I'm sick, booh. I felt pretty miserable yesterday but did run a couple errands anyway. Today will be spent wrapping presents and cleaning out the girls room. DS1 is spending Christmas Eve and Christmas with us so I need to clean up the girls' room so he can sleep in there. Right now the bed is covered with my workout bags, Business Analyst class materials, and presents!

If I'm feeling up to it, I may lift weights later. Cardio is definitely not happening today.

Laura-my company reimburses us $250/year for fitness purchases. Things like running shoes (which I desperately need) and workout videos. I plan to order Max 30 and get new running shoes the first week of January.

LL-sounds like a fun craft day at your house! I miss those fun times when my kids were little. Last year I bought the girls little wooden jewelry boxes that they had to paint and decorate with these big jewels. It was so fun watching them paint and decorate. Don't put so much stress on yourself this time of year. You got in a workout-great! Enjoy treats in moderation and drink tons of water. It's really hard to make healthy/good food choices when there is so much temptation around. You may want to try tracking on Myfitness Pal. Just seeing it (calories/carbs/protein/fat/fiber) is often times enough for me make better nutrition choices. One of my high protein snacks is 1/2 C Fage % plain yogurt mixed with 1 scoop protein powder. I call it my protein pudding. I make it on Sundays and have it portioned out in containers and ready to pack in my lunches.

Tina-oh my, that is a very cold ride. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy a ride though. When are you planning on starting STS again? Will you be following the RWH/STS rotation? I want/need to keep up with weight work before tri-training starts and I don't have time for it. Melatonin is responsible for your sleep/wake cycles. If you take too much, it does have the opposite effect. I take a very small dosage and only on those occasions when I've several days of not sleeping well. Oh, working out after running really helps alleviate the muscle soreness.

Beth-is the kitchen all repaired? Hopefully it will be done before the holiday.

Diana- Sorry you are sick! And that is so cool that your company reimburses you for fitness purchases!!! I will have to ask Hubby if he has anything like that! I've started an envelope for Max30! There's only $12 in it right now, but I need to start somewhere! I've been selling stuff on my local yard sale FB page. I have the WW app that I could track in and I also have the Lose It! app. But I've not tracked much. I just printed out the tally sheets for Max 30 tho and may use those this week. It seems easier to me right now. But what I found interesting was that when I used the formula from 21D fix, I came up with being in the lowest calorie group (by less than 100 cal) but Max30 just says if you are under 150 use the lower one and over 150 use the higher one. Well, I'm over 150 by 15 or so pounds. I actually haven't weighed myself since Thursday!! Crazy long for me, but after what I ate the last few days, I'm a little scared of it. But I planned my meals and snacks for the week, minus Christmas Eve and Day, so hopefully I'll make some good choices. And yes, I'm drinking lots of water again, I got in my 80 oz yesterday. That is my goal.

Yes, crafting can be fun. But sometimes my mind ruins it because of ALL the stuff that needs to be done, crafts being just one big item on my list. Now today JTrain wants to do his candles....

Back Biceps and Shoulders 52 min complete! Couldn't do the "finishers" after the sets completely and I only had 25# dumbbells for the one arm rows, wish I had 30s and 35s. And concentration curls I could only do a few at 20# and then had to drop down to 15#. I would do 6 or so at 20 and then have to drop to 15. And for the last set I could only do 15s for the whole set. But I'll work up to it!

Gotta get in the shower and finish my chocolate covered cookie dough balls for the cookie exchange tonight!
 
Good Monday morning all! I am finally able to read up what everyone is doing! Tina, I thought about you biking in the cold when I walked on Sat. here with a friend visiting from Atlanta. After we got back to my house I had to have her unbutton the button on my jeans because my fingers would not work-they were so cold. LL, I did LIHIBSB yesterday, too. I'm still using a 20 pound for the one arm rows and feeling it! I love the rep patterns in these upper body workouts. I have yet to try the legs one. Diana, you are so lucky to get a fitness reimbursement! I would buy MAX 30, too if I could. Poochy,glad Shaun T. is helping you deal with your work stress! We continue to be short staffed where I work and everyone is getting burned out a bit. I worked extra over the weekend to help out, but it throws my sleep schedule for a loop.

Kitchen update! We have the plumbing fixed and all that's left of the ceiling is one last sanding-today at 3pm. Then in the summer we will paint it when we can open up the windows. It will be done for Christmas...but it may be a dusty one! DS is home from college and it's been wonderful seeing him. He likes me to make all his favorites and of course I want to!

Monday is my day off before Christmas...I've got quite a list to get done. I'm itching to do an X10 workout and then fortunately have my yoga class tonight to get me all stretched out and relaxed. Have a great day all. Let me know what you're up to!

Hi Ladies,

I stayed home from work today, just feeling pretty miserable. I do have a dr. apt for 2:15 this afternoon and hope they give me some antibiotics. Our dr.'s don't usually give antibiotics and just want you to ride it out. This has been going on for a couple of months and just gotten worse over time.

LL-I work for a healthcare company now which is why I get the reimbursement. It can also be used towards a gym membership, but I mainly workout at home and just get a punch card for use at the rec ctr. Regarding a nutrition plan, you should probably just pick one and go with it. I use to try to track on WW, MFP, etc and it never really worked. Shaun T's w/o's are pretty intense which could explain the need for more calories. I struggle doing concentration curls w/ 20#'s too. I can't keep up with cathe on those either. In Xtrain, I can do them, but at a much slower pace. So I pause the DVD player to get in my reps. As long as it is challenging that is all that matters.

Beth-glad the kitchen is done! I bet that is a relief. We are finally getting some snow in the mountains, it rained here last night. Strange weather for sure. Is your normal schedule 12 hr shifts? I can't imagine working extra after putting in that many hours.

Today was 4DS disc 1 & 2. I did them both because I need to finish all four days by Wednesday. I never workout out on Christmas day and DH is home for the rest of the week and he'll want to ride outside. Why not workout for two hours while there are 101 things of more importance to be doing? Priorities, I need to get some.

Diana, I'm glad you're finally going to the doctor. It does seem like you've had a rough time of it lately. Good luck.

Beth, you must be happy to have your kitchen back. Nothing like sheet rock dust to chase for the holidays. :)

Hello...dont' know if this is the right place....I need a checkin.

I posted in the Open Discussion forum that I am getting back to Cathe after a 7 year (or so?) hiatus. I'm 100 pounds overweight, and I am almost finished getting a divorce.

So...I need to figure out which workouts to use to get back into shape. I did TurboFlex (it took 3 days), and I did the Barre workout and I loved both of them. I don't think I can do step....not with the step anyway.

So, let me know if this is the right place PLEASE!
