Damage Control December

Hi Ladies,

I finally broke down and went to the Dr. yesterday. I got some antibiotics for a nasty sinus infection. That is what's been keeping me down. Hopefully I will feel much better soon. I did give HC Lower Body a try and although it was short/fun, I prefer CLB. That's just my initial review, perhaps when I'm feeling better and can give it my all, my review may change.

MissyH-welcome to our checkin! We are all working on eating better, which seems to be a struggle for many of us. Please feel free to join us. Sorry to hear about your divorce, hope things will be better for you. What type of workouts do you enjoy? Weight/Cardio circuits are great for fat loss. Do you like step? I'm a stepper myself and find most of Cathe's step workouts to be fun yet challenging. If you dont' want to use the step, you can use a mat and do the routine on the floor. Eventually graduating to using just the step without risers and so on. I'm a big fan of modifying the workout to work for me. About me-I'm try may hand at triathlons, run 5K/10K/half marathons. I'm not fast, but love challenging myself. I'm a wife (26yrs), mom to 3 grown sons ages 26/24/18 and have twin granddaughters who are almost 7yrs. Please feel free to check in with as often as you like/can.

Hi Jacque, Beth, Tina, LL and Laura and Wendy too! Hope I'm not forgetting anyone.

Hi Jacque, Beth, Tina, LL and Laura and Wendy too! Hope I'm not forgetting anyone.
Thanks so much. I'm working on better eating. I binge when I'm upset. I'm getting off sugar which is like crack to me. My resolve breaks down pretty easily.

I love step. I stopped doing it because I was on medication that caused me to have bad balance. I didn't think I could do it, but I got on there and did really good. I didn't think I could even do it with nor risers. I did well though. I have to work on the choreography.

In the past I loved C&W, the intensity series, Power Hour, MuscleMax...I love weight routines that hit it all on the same day.

So I want to do step...some kind of weight routine.

The step I did today, Step Works, was good. I only do 5 minute segments right now. Do you think it would be better to do an easier one that I wouldn't have to stop and start?

Hey Missy-Sounds like you have made a good start-Good For You!!! My suggestion would be to do whatever you feel comfortable with but is also challenging. Perhaps use just a mat in place of the step or just the step itself without any risers. Whichever w/o's motivate you to workout are the ones you should do. I also love full body w/o's, Muscle Max being a favorite. I totally understand the bingeing. I am a stress eater and stopping that is a daily work in progress. It's taken years, but I plan/prepare my weekly meals (breakfast/lunch) for the work week on Sundays. Then it's just grab and go in the morning. If you want to workout 6 days per week you could do circuit/cardio/fullbody weights/circuit/cardio/fullbody weights. You can mix up your cardio by walking, kickbox, hi/lo (no step) or even cardio machine of choice. You should also rotate your circuits and Full body weights so you aren't always doing the same discs each week. You've got this, and we are here to help and support you!

Hi all, Welcome to the damage control group Missy. I joined in Nov. and have found it a great place to get motivation and support for each other. Do you have the Low Impact series? If I were a hundred pounds overweight I think I would start there and do some biking and swimming. I love Cardio Supersets and Afterburn. The total body trisets are fun and easier on the joints than the high impact stuff. Aim for 5-6 days of at least 30 minutes of something to get the weight loss started. Do you have Low Max step workout? It's good, long, and I always work up a sweat with it. Where do you live? Walking is great-I walk a 10 k once a week when the weather is decent and find it very good at keeping my weight down. Weight training is also key. Total body, metabolic, and bodyweight workouts a few times a week will help you reshape your body as you lose weight. I read where it's not good to diet, but to focus on eating healthy food that you like rather than staying away from foods you like. I'm doing a 10 days a month sugar/crappy foods fast. The first 10 days of each month I just don't eat cookies, pies, candy and such and I found after doing it for one month (so far), that 1: I can actually do it and 2: that I don't need as much sweets as I thought I did. I like the 10 day approach...easier to see the end of the road! Keep letting the group here know what you're doing and what's working. We're all just trying to control the damage!

Tina, you go! Two 4DS workouts in one day! I ended up doing X54 yesterday-step, LI, and Fat burning segment. Yoga was last night and my shoulders were shaking from LIHIBSB on Sunday. I just got home from work and am trying to decide what to do!

Diana, it sounds like antibiotics will help. Drink lots of fluids! I was sneezing yesterday and felt a cold in my nose so popped a few zinc to suck on and seemed to have nipped it in the bud for now. My immune system may be getting weak with the stress of the kitchen, holiday, working extra, etc. Maybe, I'll take today off...

LL,are you getting Santa's cookies and milk ready? Ha! Try to get a little sleep and have fun. My boys are to the point they will just sleep in now. It makes me melancholic for those times.

I have one more day of work then am on vacation until Jan. 6th!

Beth

Hi all! Welcome Missy! I gained 90 pounds with my last pregnancy (almost 3yrs ago! lost it all in 14 months, kept it off for 6 mo, gained a few quickly turned into 20 and now I'm about 15 over). I have many food struggles, esp. chocolate!!

Quick update here: I did Plyo 2 and boy was that hard!! I couldn't keep up with a few of them including the burpees and did only 1 or so of the tuck jumps!! I was huffin and puffin!! JTrain is still pretty sick, Hubby has a runny nose, Little K and I are still coughing up a storm. I didn't get much cleaned today except for the powder room! I was trying to keep tea and meals going. I didn't even touch the laundry, which is getting backed up...

Tomorrow I'm thinking about legs. :)

Another mish-mosh today. This morning was HCLB + ab #1 and 4DS kickbox cardio premix. Tonight DH and I did CLB weights only premix. I thought it was new to him, but we just did that one last week. Tomorrow I'm cooking for the in-laws in the afternoon, so I will be only doing 4DS BC, as is. I won't have time to add anything else on. We have a party tomorrow night and I'm cooking for my family on Christmas day with another party Christmas night. I will not be working out again until Friday. Ohmmmm...deep breathing...

Welcome Missy! :) Sorry to hear you're going through a divorce. It must be such an adjustment. Do you have any children? I'm 48 with a 19 and 17 year old. I've been married for 25 years. We live on the seacoast of NH. What part of the country are you in? I remember my first workouts with Cathe, I couldn't even manage half a workout without quitting. What Cathe workouts do you have?

Beth, what did you end up doing for a workout today. I was so sore from LIHIBSB last week. I could still feel my arms days later. Love those two upper body workouts.

Diana, glad to hear you have some meds to knock this bug out of your system. I hope you're back to full swing by Christmas. :)

LL, cleaning is my middle name this week. I don't seem to be making any headway yet.

Hi to all that follow. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm glad to connect.

I have the Cathe on Demand. I have all the downloads from when they first made that available. I'm really trying to find the ones I like and that I can do.

I think strength and cardio are both important. I was thinking of doing STS on MWF and cardio on Tuesday/Thursday.

I'm kind of spontaneous, so I never stuck to rotations.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve!! I did get in Legs, but did only the premix with just strength for 29 min. I really liked it. But I wish I had time for all of it it was only 41 min. But I spent the middle of my day in Urgent Care with CDawg got hit in the head with the metal frame that broke out of a canvas box by Little K. The real kicker is B was swinging it around and so when Little K was doing it and it slipped out of his hand and hit CDawg on the top of his head. So I spent 2.5 hrs in the Urgent Care place today! Thankfully it is right next to Kimberton Whole Foods (not Whole Foods Market, that's about 30 min east of us) so I was Abe to get a decent lunch for the 4 of us. JTrain stayed hope alone, ear infection! But I did get vacuuming completed for the down stairs and the hallway upstairs, Little K decided to open a packet of instant oatmeal and a bunch on on the floor! That should have been my a sign if my day to come.

Merry Christmas!!! I have a little down time before heading to MIL's. It was so nice to have my family over last night. Once of my nieces was here that I haven't seen in 6 years. The 4 great nephews (ages 3-7) had a great time opening and playing with their presents! A great time was had by all.

Well I don't why but I decided to weigh myself today...and am up 7#'s from yesterday! Since I'm a daily weigh-er, I know this is mostly water weight from the carbs I consumed yesterday. Still a scary number to see and pushed me over a decade number I haven't seen in over a year. I'd already decided to do a 3-5 day cleanse starting on the 26th. That should dump any of the water I'm holding!

No workout yesterday due to working and general lack of time. No workout today either. Tomorrow will be Imax 3 and GS BSB, and my ab challenge. I need to contact my coach and see when I have to weigh in for the holiday hold'em challenge. Good thing it isn't today!

LL-I couldn't keep up with plyo 2 either. I even had to lower my step for the first 2 exercises and did less than Cathe & Crew. It's something to work up to. Glad Cdawg is okay, how scary. Hope the family starts feeling better.

Tina-You are doing some awesome workouts-I'm jealous! Keep up the good work!

Beth-you are amazing. I don't know how you can work out after working such long shifts.

Missy-any exercise is better than none. Just a good variety is all you need. Whatever keeps you motivated to keep on exercising is great!

Hi to Laura & Jacque! bbl

Merry Christmas!!

Diana-please tell me about your cleanse! I might want to join you if I don't have to buy anything by tomorrow. I decided not to weigh today. I know I was up to 169 yesterday and I didn't want to see the scale go over 170!! I probably won't weigh again until Saturday or maybe even Sunday.

We had fun with my husband's family, his parents, brother, his wife and their son. I'm bummed I wasn't with my mom or dad. But my stepfather is getting over double hernia surgery and has a hematoma and can't get sick and my dad and step mom are in LA with my brother and his wife in their new home.

I'm not sure what workout I'll do tomorrow. I feel like I want to find the most calorie busting workout and do that one!! Feel like that would be BM2! I did get a bunch of kitchen tools (measuring spoons, wooden spoons, etc) from my family. But I also got some Victoria's Secret panties and pjs from Hubby! And a set of 30# wts (which I knew about!) but I was surprised by a set of 35s!! I think I will return one 35 and get a 40 as I don't think Cathe uses a set of 35s at all. They are basically twice the size of the 30s! The 30s are the regular hex style the 35s are just huge!

Diana, 35 pound weights are for? I used to do dead rows at 20. Could have done more I suppose, but when I pulled them out recently, I definitely could not use them that way YET!

Did not work out yesterday. Too many people in the house. Not sure if I can today either. Maybe I could go to the gym.

Hi Ladies,

I just finished GS BSB, CCC and my ab challenge. Imax 3 seemed like more than I could handle today. DS3 is sick now too. I feel so bad for him as he has to work today and part of his job is shoveling around the building and sidewalks...in 12 degrees.

We had a wonderful Christmas, and my house looks like it too! It's time to shower, take a nap, and then get started cleaning and putting away everything.

LL-it's just the master cleanse, my version anyway. http://themastercleanse.org/ I could do the 10 days and be done before I go back to work. I'm not really feeling like doing it for 10 days, so 3-7 days is my goal. My 35's are hex style, just like my 30's. I didn't get the 40# db's I was hoping for. Guess I'll have to purchase those myself.

Missy-I use 35's for chest and back work. As long as the weight is challenging to you, that's all that matters. I'm playing my workouts by ear for the next week. I'll jump back into RWH when I go back to work. The shorter w/o's are great at 5am!

What's everyone else up to today?

Diana, I'll check out the master cleanse, it sound familiar.

I did RWH UB circuit, and wow that was a killer! I couldn't keep up with a lot of it! Tomorrow I think I will try plyo 1 with abs 2.

Merry Christmas all. I've had 3 days of parties with a little sleep thrown in! It gets harder to see everyone the older they get without breaking it up into different gatherings. Anyway I did get a long walk in yesterday and LIHICST on Xmas morning. It's still hard for me not to get up early even though my boys sleep in! Today I'm going to do the BSB from LIHI and then check out some after xmas sales. I'm inspired to buy a set of 30's LL and Diana!

Beth

Good for you Beth! I couldn't do a wo on Christmas morning! And it shows! I ate better yesterday, I actually didn't eat anything until noon and then had chicken and veggie, dinner was salad, green beans,2 meatballs, and some tastes of my neighbors 7 fish dinner: lightly breaded flounder, crab imperial stuffed cherry peppers. But I had 2.5 large cookies. :(. And it shows as I'm up to 171.4 this morning!!! :(

Beth, also excited for you to get 30s! I haven't used mine yet.

Hi to all that follow!

There are too many people here to do a Cathe workout. It's really not an excuse, all the teens are in the room I use. Tomorrow evening or afternoon they will be leaving. Not that I mind them here, it's been a pleasant visit

Hi Ladies,

I slept until 8am this morning! This is day 2 of the cleanse and so far so good. My workout was GS Legs, Tabatacise 1-2, core #1, and the ab challenge exercises. My intention was to do all of tabatacise, it was too much for me today. I should've chosen a non step w/o until I'm feeling 100%.

Beth-glad you had a good Christmas. We break our Christmas celebrations up too. I host my family (brothers/sisters/nieces/nephews & their families). Since both my parents are gone I fear we wouldn't see each other if I don't keep this up. We host my family on Christmas Eve, do our own family on Christmas morning, and go to my MIL's on Christmas afternoon. Nice, it's always good to increase your weights if possible.

LL-I still haven't tried the HCUB yet. Sounds like its another fast moving w/o from this series. I'm going to have to work my way up to some of these w/o's. I'm doing the best I can, but couldn't keep up on the step Plyo w/o so did as many reps as possible. I'll get there though. It's hard to stay on track with your eating when there is so much yummy food around. I sent my leftover cookies and peanut clusters to work with DH yesterday. All but a couple cookies are gone and the boys will probably eat them today.

Missy-my workouts have been hit or miss this whole month. Not feeling very good...and having to get up so early to workout has taken a toll on me. It's the holidays, enjoy time with your visiting family and don't even worry about missing a w/o. Perhaps you can go for a walk if it's not too cold where you are. Our high is supposed to be 17 today, definitely not walking weather here.

Hi Tina, Jacque, and Laura and even our long lost Wendy!

Yesterday we plyo one abs 2, it was a killer! I was eTing ok until we got Chinese food for dinner! General Tso's Chicken and shrimp mei fun. We were out all afternoon, shopping and the final stop was a ski shop where my mom got seasonal rentals for the older boys and new skis for me!! Surprise!! So excited, but before that we were looking at a used foos ball table and Little K held and played with a cat and by the time we got to Springboard Media Apple Specialist store, his eyes were all puffy and red and his nose was runny nonstop. So my mom took the older 3 to get the skis and Hubby and I got some Benadryl. He has been around cats before with no reaction, but we can't figure out what else it could have been...he was breathing fine and since my mom is allergic to EVERYTHING I means he carries around an epi pen, she knew the signs. Then we to meet the rest of them at the ski shop. And I had forgotten to marinate the steak for dinner and had nothing else thawed or ready, so we got Chinese.

But I planned my meals for the week. I'm going to try to do the Turbo Inferno plan again and go back to the 21d containers. I'm not sure which leven I will do the lowest or next one up. By my wt, although I was up to 171.4 yesterday!!!!! :(. I was the lowest although I haven't put the new wt in the calculation for 21D fix, but according to Max30, if I'm over 150, I am in the next one up anyway. I have a goal with my WW leader to be at 160 by her bday which is Jan 16, but I won't see her until the following Monday night sine that is my meeting day, so that is 3 weeks from tomorrow. The only "event" I have in that time is Nw Years Eve. Here's to a new challenge!

Diana, I forgot to look at the master cleanse, I will check it out and maybe rearrange my menu plan.

Today going to do circuit lower body, then I will have tried out all but LIHI Chest Triceps Shoulders. That one I've only done a 17 min premix. Has anyone decided on a rotation? I have downloaded the 30 day RWH and XTrain and CF/TTM. Since I did al. The REH I wasn't in the mood to try the getting started or 1 month with RWH AND this may be the biggest reason: it's not in the workout manager!! Why is that? I chose the only RHW workout that was in there! I will be starting that on Monday, rest days are Sunday. I'm going to commit to it, but also Galloway myself the freedom to do a shorter premix if I want or need to. Or I may quit or pause to do the Jan. rotation! I don't want to set myself up for failure or 'mental' failure if IOU know what I mean!

Ok after rereading my post, I realize I sold have proofed it before I sent! In my last paragraph: "since I did all the RWH, I wasn't in the mood to try...". "I'm going to commit to it, going to allow myself..." " I don't want to set myself up for failure if you know what I mean.". :)
