Jainie, I have been through 5 different breast implant surgeries due to complications like infection/scarring, etc...I feel for you and what you are going through..sending you healthy vibes!!

Janie,

So sorry you are going thru all of this :(

Sending prayers and (((((hugs)))) your way and wishing you a speedy recovery.

My Gosh, You all are incredible! I can't believe how many people on this forum care.;)

Well, all your prayers, vibes and good wishes have been answered! No one will ever be able to tell me that this stuff (prayers, vibes and good wishes) do not work, because they really do.

Loaded my problems and questions on to my plastic surgeon, he answered every one of them (I was classy assertive). When he didn't know, how long it will take to heal, I believed him. No one person heals the same way. He could not answer that one, truly. it could take weeks or months.

WARNING: Gross information below, be prepared or don't read.

What was smelly was dead flesh deep inside where the implant use to be. Since I no longer have a nipple you can see this hole. I have to stuff treated gauze into it twice daily. This will help with smell and bacteria. My body will take care of the rest. This is what it is suppose to do.

He offered to do another operation to heal it faster. Tighten the skin around the wound so the wound itself is smaller. Right now it is as large as a half dollar. I have to wait for Group Health to say ya or nay. If they won't accept this second operation, then it could take months to heal.

The good thing is I can take a shower every day, and WORKOUT!

No more gaining weight, no more pity parties, I only need patience and time to heal.

Thank you everyone so very much in supporting me. I owe you.

Bless your heart. I just wanted to tell your this: If your insurer gives you any crap take close-up photos and re-submit. I know this isn't quite the same thing but I saw a news story last year about a woman who had gastric bypass and was left with, literally, about 50-60 lbs. of loose flesh hanging down to her knees. When her insurer refused to cover the surgery for that, deeming it "cosmetic" she took pictures of her nude body and asked "Still think this is JUST cosmetic?" They reversed their decision, pronto.

Praying hard for you.

Janie,
I'm very glad your doctor expects you to make a full recovery and I'm sorry for what your having to go through to get there. I truly admire your strength and outlook for what you are dealing with--YOU ROCK!

Sirensong,
Your story reminded me a what my gyno told me another patient did. The patient had been denied insurance approval for a hysterectomy needed for fibroids. She sent ALL her USED pads and tampons for one period to the insurance company and said, "You tell me this quantity is normal and livable.") The insurance company reversed their decision and approved the surgery. Gross, I know, but sometimes....

Janie,

I came back to check how you are doing. I am glad to see your new post.

I am thinking strongly positive thoughts that the insurance will work out without delays, sending more healing vibes and keeping you in my prayers.
