Pictured here are Cathe, Al, and Kristin doing a seated overhead press with an isometric hold. This is an intense combination compound exercise that simultaneously combines an isometric front raise with a dynamic overhead press.
There is so much intense muscle-building going on in this one exercise. The arm doing the isometric exercise holds a lighter weight than the dynamic side since it will be in a static hold for 30 seconds acting as a stabilizer to work both endurance and strength. The arm performing the compound press holds heavier weight to build solid strength and hypertrophy.
This exercise is performed in a seated position to eliminate all momentum and make the muscles work even harder. No worries if you don’t want to do this exercise seated as there is a standing option performed as well. Performing this exercise combination can help increase muscle endurance, muscular strength, and will also help to improve overall muscle performance.
