Calling all 60 year old and older Cathletes

I posted this in the Low Max thread where this was asked - copying to here (seems like a better fit for the question :) )

Welcome back!

If you're starting from ground zero, I'd recommend the following progression: (This is also assuming you've got your doctor's clearance)
  1. Lift, Move, and Restore series
  2. Lift, Move, and Restore Elevated series
  3. LITE series
  4. ICE series
  5. XTrain series
I'd follow her simple one- or two-month rotations in each of the Users Guides (see link), depending on how quickly your body is adapting to the increased activity. When you get to ICE, you may want to start layering on intensity with her more challenging rotations that include the Blizzard Blasts, but don't do that until you've first done the workouts without the Blizzard Blasts (the "Level One" and "Level Two" rotations).

If you're wanting to start back into heavier weight work, you can also start incorporating STS 2.0 perhaps as soon as finishing up LITE.

This isn't a specific recommended approach, just how I'd handle it if I were in a similar situation. :)

Hope this helps!

If you’re 60 or older please share your favorite Cathe WO, Series and/or Rotation.

My opinion probably doesn’t count because I’m getting back into Cathe workouts after a long break from Cathe. I’m also completing her rotations, beginning to end, for the first time. It’s sure to change as I do more WOs.

My favorite WO is Cardio & Weights and has been for years.

My favorite Cath Rotation to date is the (OIR) Official Intermediate Rotation. I’ve only done her Beginner Rotation and her OIR. I really enjoyed the variety in the OIR as compared to the beginner rotation.

I’m not sure about a Series yet. I don’t think I’ve worked through any series to the point of having an honest favorite.

What are your favorites?
Hi Lannette!

I'm 62 years old (63 in two months). I have every one of Cathe's DVD's except the cycle workouts. I started exercising with her on TV way back in ancient times! I had all of her VHS but switched to DVD's when she started making them. I even have her Get In Shape For Your Wedding one.

It's really hard for me to pick favorites because they seem to change from time to time. Right now I absolutely love the LMR & LMR2 series for my lighter days. For my tougher workouts, I love the Ripped With Hiit, STS 2.0, Step Boss, & the 2023 workouts.

As for rotations, I can't say I've ever really had a favorite because I enjoy all the ones I've done, & many of them have made me revisit older workouts. I prefer the rotations that mix different series together more than just sticking to one series. I never used to be all that great at completing rotations but over the past couple of years, I've really been having fun with them! At the moment, I am doing the rotation that was posted for this month. HUGE variety of workouts in this rotation.

I have to admit that at this age, I've entered a new season of life & am not all that concerned about my appearance. I care more about staying mobile & strong, avoiding injury, & not ending up in a wheelchair or something like that. I let my hair go naturally gray, quit wearing makeup (I had started to reacting to all makeup), & dress more for comfort than style now. I even wear the wide toe box shoes that, at first, made me think of clown shoes.

I’m 65. I now have to substitute most of Cathe moves that are aerobic. My lungs are partially shot. Colorado Altitude issues too. However, nothing feels as good as when I am working out doing Cathe.
I lift weights in the morning. Last month I did a body part everyday. This month is UB one day and LB the next day. In June I am doing combined body parts.
I make my own rotation 1x a month. I substitute premixes if I’m having harder days.
If I’m feeling ok, in the afternoon I’ll do Barre or Stretch/Mobility or a cardio dvd I make low impact. I like using all my Cathes. I just follow along as best I can for cardio.

I am 60 and having been working out with Cathe pretty consistently for many years. I own pretty much every workout she has produced. Although my skin is aging and my body is changing in more ways than I would like in terms of external appearance ;) , my fitness level and my health on the inside has never been better. I am lifting heavier and feeling better in terms of cardio - as long as I take my rest days and do lots and lots of stretching. I personally feel that age is not the biggest factor in determining how intense to go with one's workout choices - it is more a matter of matching the workouts, number of rest days, number of high impact days and intensity level to how you are feeling that day, your medical history and/or current issues, your goals and your fitness level.

My favorite series is XTrain. I am currently doing the 90 day rotation and having a blast. There is so much variety in those workouts - almost no moves are repeated. I love the music, the longer stretch segments and the fact that it is a compete package - heavy weights, lighter weights, steady state cardio, low impact hiit, high impact hiit... It has it all. Cross training at it's best! Cross training is critical at any age, but especially important at my age when I don't want to overdo it. At this point I don't have any physical restrictions so I can work pretty hard, but it is easy to modify the workouts using lighter weights, shorter premixes, etc. if you need to.
Hello, I am new to this so please can you remind where to get the rotations if using Cathe on Demand? Thank you
