Are you not happy unless you're sore?

I love DOMS! They make me happy. If I don't get them, I feel I didn't workout hard enough.
I'm getting some really great DOMS with STS!
OMG, yesterday, without warning my biceps began burning hours after my workout. I was sitting in my migraine doc's office when they hit. I was so happy.

Chrissy, too funny about the walking pregnant. I know what you mean. STS legs are a real killer. You know it too because Cathe seems very eager to get started in the warm up. :D:DI love the pain!

Count me in :D. I feel like somethings wrong if I do a strength workout and I'm not sore. In fact, I skipped the last Burn week of the CLX rotation because I wasn't experiencing any DOMS with the workouts. I was lifting heavy too:confused:. Maybe not heavy enough though. I had a hard time with some of those compound moves. They felt a little awkward to me. I did the first Push workout yesterday and I'm feeling a little DOMS today (not as much as I'd like though) I'm trying to stick with this rotation because I really like it but the lack of DOMS is a little discouraging. I keep saying to myself if I gave it up and started STS then I'd be sore:eek:. I don't know if I'm ready for that amount of soreness though LOL.

ME, Me, me ...

Oh yeah, gotta be sore. Why workout and lift weights and do step and all that, if you don't feel it afterwards? I hate not feeling sore, makes me feel like I did nothing or gave little or no effort. Must have pain to gain! Okay, no pain no gain, does sound better. Soreness is a way of life....

I love this thread! Me too me too! I love to be sore. I also have a hard time getting my biceps to be sore and when they are I am SO happy. Leg DOMS are the best- I'm hoping STS gives me some good DOMS once I actually, um, start. :)

Love the DOMS!!

Glad I'm not the only one! I need to feel worked. This got me to thinking about people who quit exercising because of soreness, then I remembered two girls I used to work with that wanted to workout, but didn't like to sweat!?!? I nearly laughed out loud, but didn't want to discourage them. But, but, but I mean, oh I just didn't know what to say. Not only do I want soreness, I want to be dripping in sweat. One did go to curves before work and didn't have to shower and she smelled fine.? Oh well....

I'm joining the "love DOMS" bandwagon too! If I don't have at least a little bit of soreness, I feel ripped off!

I do have to admit that I tolerate certain bodyparts being sorer than others.. usually if one of my upper body parts are sore, I am OK. However, after a hardcore leg workout, ( the kind where it takes a few seconds to stand up for a sit) I get a bit crabby. :)

I with you all on this, I *heart* DOMS:p

I just completed STS disk 7 last night and -- for the first time in a loooooooong time -- my BICEPS are sore!

And I must agree on this too -- I also love being sweaty. I am going to go even a bit further/weirder with this.... I don't feel right showering in the morning if I am not sweaty when I get in.

Now I am embarrassed:eek: I can't be the only one, right??

Oh how funny--I love DOMS too--In real life, I'm pretty much alone in that, but not here in Cathe land:D:eek::D.

Maggie:)

I am so with you on that one! My morning shower is SOOO satisfying if I am sweaty when I get in!

Deep-fried fat LOL!

Wait, that only happens to you when you're PMSing? ;)

Laura, you took the words right out of my mouth on that one!

I'm finally getting back into workouts after a long absence and did just the cardio of 4DS KB last night and this morning I have a nice little burn in my obliques. They're "speaking to me" as I call it. I love that feeling.

Me too Katie!

Don't be embarrassed! You are not the only one! It just doesn't feel right if I'm not sweaty when I shower!

I laughed when I read your posts everyone! It was only 5 months ago when I was asking all of you...when, oh when, will I stop hurting all the time?!?! Now, I panic when I don't have DOMS and by God, I miss them!

I lift as high as possible, use good form, but have little soreness.

So I tried going lighter with weights with no luck.

I might have a little indication I worked out, but for the most part, I don't get sore.

Do you think I am getting anything out of my workouts?

Thanks all!

Amy

Most things in life are not absolute, and this is probably one of them. :)

Like I said earlier, I used to get much more in the way of DOMS back when I lifted lighter. But I wasn't taking great care of myself back then either.

Now I lift much heavier, and I've gotten stronger, but my DOMS isn't nearly as bad. My biceps almost never get sore, yet I've continued to go up in poundage with them (and I work to failure in a big way). Obviously I'm getting results, otherwise I'd still be curling 5 lb. dumbbells.

On the flip side, my chest and tris always crab at me the next day. Always. It's not unbearable, but it's noticable. My lower body is usually hurtin' too.

I think there are multiple factors at work here. First, all of our bodies are genetically programmed differently. How we recover from workouts will be affected by that.

Second, I eat much better and sleep much more now, something I did NOT do years ago. I firmly believe that has helped keep major DOMS at bay.

I'm sure there are additional factors at play too. If you're seeing results, then you're getting plenty out of your workouts.

I like the creeping in warm feeling from an awesome pump. I don't like pain, though. If you're in pain after every workout, that's an issue. Mild-moderate soreness, yeahhh. Pain, nope.

I love this thread almost as much as DOMS - it's funny to read how many people love (good) pain! I hate the mushy, sluggish feeling in my limbs that means I need to workout and get that pumped feeling....ahhh and then the DOMS!

I'm the odd one out, but I really don't like DOMS at all. Yep. Really.

I can't say that I like DOMS either. I don't mind it. I know it's a sign that I've worked hard and that's a good thing. Truth be told though, I'd rather skip the sore part!

I did Pyramid Upper Body and can really feel my back, shoulder DOMS, so I can relate. In a strange way it does feel like I have really worked out.
