    Distance Runners...have a ? for ya...

A couple more ideas. I have yet to find a gel that I like, so I take small nibbles of a Power Bar & drink Extran (Gatorade type liquid). If your stomach is very sensitive, just go with an energy drink. Have you tried smoothies post run? Add protein powder to get the 4 carb/1 protein ratio...

    IronMan Triatholon

Brenda Frambis, part of Cathe's crew, is competing in the Florida Ironman next month, along with a couple of others that used to be active on the Cathe forum. Debra

Help Choosing; Slow and Heavy vs. Push/pull and supersets

RE: Help Choosing; Slow and Heavy vs. Push/pull and sup... Susan, S&H is totally different from Cathe's other workouts so the answer partly depends upon what your already own. S&H does lend itself to one body part per day training. I like the Superset & Push/Pull workouts but they're not as...

Hi Cathe about foods for veggies

    >Not cathe but try peanut butter, and avacadoes to have that >extra protein you need. Avocados? A good source of healthy fat, but with 3.5 grams of protein in a 300 calorie avacado, it would be difficult to call them a good source of protein. Debra Looks like Kathryn posted while I...

    Zappos.com?

I've compared prices & Zappos appears to build the shipping into their price. But boy, what a selection. Debra

Can you recommend some vegetarian cookbooks

Mollie Katzen's cookbooks are a great intro to vegetarian cooking. Most of the ingredients can be found at a normal supermarket. Her anniversary Moosewood cookbook has a lot of low fat recipes. Of the non-Katzen Moosewood cookbooks, I like the "Restaurant Classics". As someone mentioned...

    Sub for S&H/CTX

I agree that the Pyramids are as close as one can get to S&H. If you can stand it, just do the 8 rep set 3 times with the slow count that Carole suggested. In S&H, there is a one minute rest between sets. Low reps & a long rest so that you can lift heavier. Debra

    Lunacat's Compendium

Thank you One can only imagine how much time you have invested in the compendium. Thank you. I was surprised to see some mish-moshes listed as moderate intensity. I'm usually sweating just reading an A-Jock's mish-mosh. Becky, sincere thanks. Debra

    A-Jock ?

Annette, we should be paying you a monthly retainer. (And do share if you see a Supreme Court Session.) Because there are so many new to Cathe's workouts on the forums, I do want to point out that her total body workouts can easily be converted into a 2 day split. ME & SS/PP have great...

The strangest work dilemma I've ever had

It is totally inappropriate and sure to offend many. Honestly, I thought babysitting your supervisor's child on the clock was out-of-line. Sounds like your job could inspire a sit-com. Debra

    Lunacat's Compendium

Me too, please: [email protected] Debra This is truly weird. My e-mail address gets distorted once I post. Hope the edited version works.

    Will I like Stretch Max?

BQ, since you're familiar with yoga, I think you're going to find that the stretches in Stretch Max are not held long enough. I find some of the stretches in the ball & band segments are contrived. That a more effective stretch could have been done without the tool. But having said that, I...

    Cathe's floorwork for lower body

Another vote for GS Legs which I did this morning. It's the only one of Cathe's workouts that include shin work. The band & ball work is tough. The poster above suggested Leaner Legs, but it doesn't have any floorwork. It's a great workout, but I think women need to isolate the abductors &...

    Beginner Kick Box

Another vote for Kathy Smith. It's the one I chose when I haven't done any kickboxing for awhile. Debra

    Yoga or Pilates

Sherie, this should probably be posted on the "Other Videos" or the "Open" forum since Cathe doesn't sell any pilates or yoga workouts. Her 2 stretching DVD's might be the ticket if you're only focusing on flexibility. There are tons of threads asking for pilates or yoga workout suggestions...

    Business Deals 101

Cathe didn't describe SNM's arrangement with CCETV so it's no wonder that you're confused. CCETV produces tv shows, mostly documentaries but they are expanding into sports (from what I could find on the web). Cathe said that SNM would continue to produce their own DVD's so it's clear as mud...

    bike riding

    bike riding

Karen, I'm going to disagree with the advice posted here & go with conventional training: You need more time on a bike - but Spinning type training does count. I don't know what kind of distance you're planning on riding, but you cannot overestimate the benefits of building an aerobic base...

About the Five Healthy Foods Thread...

We're having a stretch of cool weather so today I'm making a pot of my favorite lentil soup with cumin, lemon & spinach. Deborah Madison has lots of great lentil recipes in "Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone". Braises, salads (tabouli like), & an awesome lentil minestroni. I make a lot of...
