    Pushups

For years I could only do them on my knees. Then I tried doing Cathe's version which helps build up strength to do it on your toes - start on toes, go down, drop to knees, push up, repeat so many times then reverse. I would do this no matter what push up the DVD said to do. Now I can do about 12...

    Calorie Burn

Yes. Cardio always burns more calories for me than weightlifting. But building your muscles with weightlifting increases your metabolism to burn more calories throughout the day. I don't wear my heart rate monitor much now, but when I did I found I burned an average of about 600 for cardio and...

Is there anyone who's had PF & found a cure?

When I had issues with planter fasciitis I just wore a night splint that kept my foot in the flexed position while I slept. It worked great! After so many nights wearing it, the problem went away. When it flares up, I just start sleeping with the splint again. Sent from my iPod touch using...

    Kettlebells - Contoured vs. Ball-shaped

I wish I had tried a few workouts with the ball-shaped one before investing in several more the same style. I did go ahead and order a 10 lb contoured one that comes with a Bob Harper DVD, so at least I am getting more than just the kettlebell. If I find I do like it a lot more, I guess I can...

How do you keep track of the weights you use for each DVD?

Index Cards I use an index card kept inside each DVD case. I am able to rest it up right next to the TV and can glance at it easily while working out. This system has worked great for me. At the top of the index card I list the DVD name and the time required for the workout. I also list what...

Just happened to find it on Amazon for $24.99 total, so I went for it. That price made it easy to change my mind! ;)

    Terminator DVD worthwhile investment?

I passed on purchasing the Terminator DVD when it first came out since it is a compilation of DVDs that I already have. Do any of you that have it find it a worthwhile investment even if you already have the originals?

    Any MyFitnessPal users?

I have been using MyFitnessPal for years. It seems to be the best way for me to lose or maintain my weight. I also am a big fan of Cathe. I think I have every workout she has produced. My MFP username is laurae. Sent from my iPod touch using CatheForum

    Kettlebells - Contoured vs. Ball-shaped

I have just recently started doing some kettlebell workouts. The one I did this morning, Brook Benton Cardio Kettlebell, she used a contoured kettlebell, and I wondered if anyone found those more comfortable when in the rack position to hold. I made it through okay using the 10 lb. ball-shaped...

    Low Impact Challenge-Learning Curve?

I did it for the second time this morning and did find that I caught on quicker and had fewer mess-ups. I think each time the workout is done, the choreography gets ingrained in your brain somehow. I did notice this time through that the blast she does at the end on the right side of the step...

    Kettlebell workouts

I spoke too soon....did Michelle Khai's workout and was just fine with the 4 lb kettlebell that came with the DVD. The moves were fast, which I can't imagine with a heavier one - perhaps I'll try 7 lb. next time. I did up to my 7 lb one for her floor work though.

    Kettlebell workouts

Thank you for the recommendations. I just ordered Lauren Brooks vol. 2 from her website ($8 off - Thanks!) and Paul Katami Burn & Build. I also purchased a 15 lb. kettlebell since I think I might need a heavier one. I probably shouldn't have bought the 7 lb. one - oh well, my young girls can...

    Kettlebell workouts

Thank you for the suggestions. Elsie, I looked on Amazon for Lauren Brooks DVDs and saw they run about $40 each. Is there one of the three volumes you recommend most? I have been working out for years and am an intermediate to advanced workout level. Laura, I found workouts by Paul Katami, I...

    Kettlebell workouts

Just invested in a few kettlebells (4, 7, & 10 pound) and a few DVDs which should arrive this week. I wondered what others' thoughts are on kettlebell workouts and which DVDs are your favorites? I also would like to see Cathe produce a kettlebell workout! Sent from my iPod touch using CatheForum

    Determining Maximum Heart Rate

What is the best method for determining maximum heart rate? There are many options and formulas which make it hard to decide which one to use for my heart rate monitor. Also, can a person's maximum heart rate change over time as they get older so that it should be calculated again if using an...

Anyone tried STS with this rotation?

I am starting STS for the second time. The first time was about 2 years ago, after which I sold it, and then decided to buy it again. Anyway, since I am accustomed to working each body part 2 - 3 times a week, I thought of doing a rotation like this: Mon. - STS Disc 1 Tues. - STS Disc 2 Wed...

    Bosu Balance Trainer

I just got a Bosu and was quite impressed with the workout it gave. Do you have any plans to produce a DVD for use with the Bosu? If not, do you know of any you would recommend? I have the 4 titles that came with the Bosu - Calorie Combustion, Absolutely Abs, Long and Lean, and Total Body Workout.

I am working through Cathe's December rotation, and I have the VHS tape of Step, Jump, & Pump. What does premix #3 include so I can fast forward through what is not in it?

    Calorie Conundrum

I used Sonlight years ago when my oldest (now 18) was just starting. I have 5 kids and, next year, will be down to schooling 3 of them. My son is at George Mason University, and my daughter (17) will be taking one co-op class and the other classes at a community college under dual-enrollment...
