    "Old" Cathlete reaching out...

Welcome back and fight girl fight! I will be sending you prayers, healing vibes, and good thoughts. I am all about Cathe, but wonder if have you also considered traditional healing processes such as Chi Gong and Tai Chi as well? There is a lot of literature that supports these tools. Just an...

Advice strength DVD with most form instruction?

David, thanks for the tip. I haven't done Pure Strength for quite a while, and will get it out and do it again. I am sure I will learn something new - I am always amazed at how much I can learn from a video, even if I've done it many times before. Sometimes time brings a new and different...

Slow and Heavy or Gym Styles?

From these two I definitely prefer Slow and Heavy. It's got a great vibe going and I just love the style of slow movements and heavy weights. The form pointers in this one can't e beat either. Every muscle is worked in S&H too, even some that other workouts miss.

    Which DVD would you save????

I just HAVE to take 2 - Slow and Heavy, which is the only one I took to the Road Trip 2008 and Cathe signed it - and Kick, Punch and Crunch. With those 2, I could stay fit. I would burn Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred as well - but I already donated it to Goodwill LOL

Which Weight lifting DVD's Do I Start With?

One of my all time favorites of Cathe's weight videos is Push Pull, which someone else mentioned here. You can choose to do it easier and in 45 minutes if you like, with 1 set of each exercise in a full body approach, which is the fundamental workout on the DVD, OR the great thing about the DVD...

Advice strength DVD with most form instruction?

I second for Slow and Heavy. I have all of Cathe's DVDs. Slow and Heavy has the best weight-training form pointers of all, I think, and also because you do the moves slowly, you can really work on perfecting the form while you do this workout. There will be lots of other opinions out there -...

    kickboxing/martial arts shoes

When I took Tae Kwon Do classes for a long time at a formal school, we were required to go barefoot. If you are going to take classes at a school, you might want to check if they require anything specific. For example if there is going to be sparring, you can't have students kicking each other...

Is anyone else a bit disturbed by VW's ads?

Ah yes, I used to play "punch bug" with my brothers and with my friends as a kid. Brings back fond memories! Then my first car ever was a VW bug!!!

    Great Results with Shock Cardio

Not an expert - but I have done a lot of reading on fitness issues - most experts seem to recommend NOT doing HIIT style workouts every day, and waiting at least 72 hours in between HIIT type workouts. E.g to protect your joints and body, if you do an HIIT style workout one day, and still want...

Don't you hate it when instructors...

Honestly the touching and the form corrections have never bothered me in any way - I just see it as more information to take in. And for goodness sake, these people filming videos work with each other very closely for months. If they are not friends or at least VERY comfortable with each...

    Great Results with Shock Cardio

Hi Attila the Honey (love that screen name!)! First I want to congratulate you on your success! Fantastic! Second I want to thank you for getting me thinking - and getting me to pull out my copy of Venuto's BFFM and re-read chapter 5 on body types and what types of exercise and nutrition are...

Cathe-Please help me reach my ultimate goal, PLEASE :)

Not Cathe either. I can related to your pain here. I would really recommend reading "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" by Tom Venuto. It will help you figure out much more effectively how much to eat and how much to exercise - what YOU need - and what to do when you have goals that somehow are not...

Friend who was nicer when I was fat...

Me too. Finally got down to a healthy weight, was in the best, most fit condition of my entire life at that point, could bike 40 miles with a bunch of men and women and get to the destination FASTER than all but 1 super-fit male, and my dearest girlfriend at the time told me I looked "gaunt" and...

Low Max - full workout or premixes?

I definitely use the premixes. For me 70 minutes of only one thing is usually too long - because I like to mix things up and in particular have time for other things like a long stretch or a separate core workout. I can't "add on" to something that's 70 minutes because it's already so long, so...

Brazilian Butt Lift....How r u using this program JUST Curious

I got BBL about 2 weeks ago, and decided to do one of the standard rotations and stick with it for 4 weeks. I am doing the "too big solution." Anyway I am quite pleased as I can already see a difference and I've only been using it for this short time. My jeans are fitting better already. I...

brazil butt lift - low or high impact? Etc.

I am also doing the Slim and Lift rotation (aka the "too big" solution). I am really enjoying the workouts! Great music, a lot of joy and energy in the workouts and crew, and Leandro is just adorable and cues well too. I have been doing the rotation 3 days now. After the 1st day, I thought...

food for thought: More magazine, Are you pushing yourself hard enough?

Beth, I know exactly what you mean! I am 52 also, very soon 53! In the past year I found myself getting more and more lazy about workouts - still working out but not pushing in other words - I had some injuries to deal with and used that to nearly give up on everything. I am now back to pushing...

food for thought: More magazine, Are you pushing yourself hard enough?

The March issue of More magazine has a very interesting article. I am sure this will spark some debate. The article is called, "Are you pushing yourself hard enough?" There are sections on resistance training, jumping movements, and aerobic workouts. What really hit me was the section on...
