Hypothyroidism - What works for you? (sorry..long!)

The Dr. I found who treats via symptoms AND labs is a bio-identical hormone/"vitality" specialist that friends have experienced good results with - I originally went to her just wanting to optimize my health/vitamins/etc... but by the time I got the lab results back (three months later... I kind...

STS Total Body or High Reps

I agree - I like 'em both for being equally challenging in different ways. Personally, high reps had a bit more fun factor  plus I enjoy isolation exercises and with STS I was able to lift heavier. Both will get a lot of use!! :)

Hypothyroidism - What works for you? (sorry..long!)

I imagine there are several here dealing with this issue and thought this a great place to share what has and hasn't worked to optimize your health and energy while hypothyroid. I was dx Hashimoto's hypoT about a year and a half ago and it has been a LONG slow road to getting my energy and...

New Round STS to kickoff 2011 ? Who's in ?

So... being a little overexcited I decided to start the 3 1/2 month rotation this week even though I've been finishing up the 4 & 5 star 1RM at the same time :o (though on alternate days to the actual STS workouts)... doesn't feel like it's compromised the actual workouts too much and the first...

    Elliptical machine vs. running

Hi ! I love my elliptical but for me nothing beats...or really even compares to running... and I'm not a hard core "runner" despite having completed 7 or 8 half marathons. I learned early on in running that any biomechanical shortcoming your body has is virtually assured to manifest once you...

New to STS! Help! I need program to follow...

Doh ! Sorry... just realized you said 'total body' - the alternating weights-cardio-weights-cardio theory still applies though if it were me, I'd incorporate something like the new High Reps total body (awesome!!) and alternate it with STS TB - likely the program I'll follow when I next finish...

New to STS! Help! I need program to follow...

Hi ! Yes, I'd just alternate STS with cardio - STS-Cardio-STS-Cardio...so on... my first round of STS I achieved pretty amazing results (people - even strangers - regularly asking what I was doing i.e.) despite - a. skimping on the 1RM testing (doing that pretty diligently this 2nd time)...

    Just starting STS

My interpretation was to focus on cardio, abs, cross training activities - not weights - though I assume light circuit training (cardio emphasis, a la circuit blast maybe?) would be acceptable? I'd love more input and clarification too though! Great question!

New Round STS to kickoff 2011 ? Who's in ?

Hi all - I found myself battling and finally diagnosed hypothyroid about 10 weeks into my first round of STS ... fast forward 18 months later and FINALLY back to about 95% of my normal energy and I am beyond psyched to have had the energy to workout consistently, and aggressively (like I always...

Question about Intermediate and beginner rotation?

Hi Heidi - I'm working on resolving the same question for myself  ... I've spent the last year and a half with an on again off again (mostly off!)workout routine based on my flagging energy levels/unresolved thyroid. In the past I was always an advanced exerciser (last did STS before...

    Energy problem in the morning

You mention your thyroid (and having been recently diagnosed hypothyroid myself, I identify with your a.m. energy lag) ... have your levels been checked recently ? Could be your thyroid is flaring up a bit... they haven't gotten mine 100% treated yet and I still drag out of bed  Good luck !

    Hypothyroid anyone ?

Hi y'all ! I'm just curious if anyone might have good tips here as I've just been diagnosed hypothyroid and the interesting thing is that my 'symptoms' seem to be snowballing from vague and not too intrusive to now becoming full on fatigue within only a matter of weeks. wah :( I've just...
