Hi all!

Just curious...What are your favorite skin care products?

I just love Mario Badescu products. I ordered some facial cleanser and I got a big surprise in my package with all kinds of free samples including cleanser, toner, moisturizer, shampoo, conditioner a makeup bag, a mirror, make-up remover soap, body cream and hand cream. The samples were 2 oz. bottles!! I've tried so many products and these are just my favorite! It came with a nice card that said "With a heartfelt thanks for your continued patronage we extend to you our best wishes for a happy holiday and a healthy new year!"

I thought that was so nice! I just love them...my skin feels so refreshed! Not to mention they have a huge celebrity client list too (check it out on the website under the "Clientele" tab) They are all reasonably priced because they don't use expensive packaging for their products. Just simple plastic bottles.

I have to admit that I am a skin care slut in that I am rarely faithful to the same products all the time. I generally have a few favorites in each category, if you will, and rotate around depending on what my skin is calling for.

However, I do have my old tried and true that I rarely deviate from.

Cleanser- Paula's Choice Completely Clean for Normal/Dry skin. Just the best, IMO.

Scrub- Laura Mercier Facial Gommage

Eye cream- Christian Dior and I can't recall the specific title right off hand. Heaven!

Body SPF- Ocean Potion SPF 30. Not only smells great, it's not greasy at all and doesn't seem to sit on the skin.

I love Clinique!! I always had bad acne so when I went into Dillards and told them my trouble they gave me an acne line and now I am down to just two pimples!!!!!! Love the stuff but it is pricey but well worth it. Now I am looking for a great Body lotion and Body spray. I get stuff from "Bath and Body works" but always on the lookout for something better LOL

I'm a big fan of Dermalogica and Skinceuticals. They have something for everybody and it's top notch stuff. Alexis

Retin-A (prescribed by my dermatologist) and glycolic acid (I get a home peel kit online) have kept my acne in check and have given my skin a pretty smooth appearance.

In between treatments, or when my skin gets flaky and irritated, I use Olay Regenerist Serum. For sunscreen, I use Eucerin, only about $6 at Target.

I love Victoria Principal's line, Principal Secret. My skin is so soft and smooth and the color is even instead of blotchy. My skin just tingles after using any of the products and it makes me feel like I am really taking good care of my skin!

I started using Clinique in college, then went the department store route for a while, then sold Mary Kay for a year (if you can imagine ME doing that!! LOL!!), and now I'm back to Clinique. I really like it the best of anything I've tried!

I've using Natural Advantage that I saw on an infomercial and I really like it. I quit using it for a while and could definitely tell the difference in my skin. I started using it again at the end of last week and I can already tell a difference. My skin color is more even. I'm 41 and have lots of fine lines. Way more than I think I should. My sister who is 4 years older than I am has less than I have. She is a little overweight which I think the reason. But anyway, I feel this product helps with fine lines and my skin is just more "radiant" looking. I'm not embarrassed if I don't have on makeup when I go somewhere.

I also use Bare Minerals makeup which I am in love with. It has taken me many months to really get the hang of putting it on to where I really like it. But I have it now and will never change makeup brands. It is wonderful.

Any of you ladies had cystic acne and if so, have you found anything to get rid of it? It seems like I've tried everything so now I have extremely dry skin and cystic acne. Oh joy.

Jillybean,
I work at Bliss Spa in Manhattan as an esthetician and what we use for cystic acne is the Alpha Beta Peel. It works incredibly. You can also order the alpha beta home kit from blissworld.com. It is not as strong as the professional use, but it does work. Just a suggestion.
Lizzy
ps. I have used this peel on quite a few celebrities.

I have that type of acne and the Clinique Acne solutions the spot healing gel works miracles. the duration of that type of acne is so little now and now I hardly get those anymore.you just dab it directly on the acne.

Jillybean, Have you ever tried Pro Active? It worked really well for my son and didn't dry out his skin. E-mail me and I'll send you some to try if you want. Alexis

Jill,

Hi!!! I haven't talked to you in ages!

You should try MD Forte. It was recommended by another Cathe fan, and is really exceeding my expectations. I love it. Go look at the Dermstore website or do a search. I'll send you some pictures in an email if you want and you can see how refined my skin is looking.

Hey Jilly, Orrrr, go to www.essentialdayspa.com and write to the aestheticians there. I have adult, oily skin and I wrote to them and described as much as I could. They made recommendations and it is perfect for me. They are pretty amazing there. Dermstore is a good place to order from. EDSpa is in Vancouver and shipping has to go thru customs - sometimes it takes me 10 days to receive a package. The plus side is, the prices are much cheaper for us in the States. So many options! Having always had pretty even skin, with no real problems (expect the odd spot) I was horrified when I turned 21 and found that I was getting red, ugly spots under the skin. I had no idea what they were and they wouldn’t come to a head. I went to a beauty therapist who said it was Roascea (I think not) and then went to clinique. I was prescribed a soap, scruffing lotion in strength 4 and moisturising lotion plus told to use the men’s face scrub daily. Well, one week later my face was covered in spots. Red. Inflamed. Ugly. Turns out that all the menthol in the face scrub and all the alcohol in the scruffing lotion were reacting very badly with my skin. Stopped using it, bought some Benzoyl Peroxide 5% cream, used Cetaphil Cleanser and baking soda to unplug the pores and now, clear skin (apart from the broken veins that all the alcohol and menthol did to me – evil stuff!).

Anyway I use a good sunscreen daily and the above. That’s it.

Jillybean-
My husband has cystic acne too, but his skin is very oily. Sebaceous cysts are a real problem for him. I'm interested in seeing the responses you get.

For me of the excrutiatingly dry skin, I'm enjoying my Aveda Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Creme this winter, although I'm going through it way too fast!! My skin soaks up anything I put on it and begs for more!:-(

Have used Mary Kay for 8 yrs now, I really like it, someone gave me a sample of Arbonne, but I still haven't tried it yet......... Rhonda

Danielle,

They should pay you from their advertising budget. Your testimonial
made me go right to their site, and I bought a couple of things, e-mailed them for a consultation, and spent way too much time browsing through their products.

Thanks for the tip!
Happy New Year,
Michele
