Michele, that put a smile on my face. You are so welcome! I always get so excited when I get a new package from them. You will be very pleased!

Happy New Year to you!! :)

I have been using Avon anew products for about 3 years now. I really have liked them. Last thing I used was the Clinical series. My daughter finished med school in December. She has worked for a dermatologist for quite sometime and is going into practice with him. She bought me a starter set of the MD Forte stuff which they highly recommend. The dermatologist uses it and he has nice skin. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and am satisfied with it. We will see after awhile. I had huge cystic acne problems as a teenager,I spent a lot of time at the dermatologist. I have been fortunate not to have all of the scarring my mother had. So far these products have worked well for me.

Oh, I should not have read this. I LOVE trying new products... always looking for a better product. :) Danielle, Michele is right... Mario Badescu should compensate you. I may have to give them a try, but I really love my current products.

I have been plagued by acne since I was a teenager. In my mid-twenties, I developed cystic acne. I have tried it all... dermatologist recommended skin care regimens, antibiotics, Retin-A, ProActive, Physicians RX, Clinique... the list goes on and on. Until July, I had the greatest results with Glycolic Peels, Microdermabrasion, and Biomedic Products. In July, I succumbed to product temptation and purchased the Somme Institute skin care line. I was skeptical to say the least... I had tried everything and had minimal if any improvement. Well, the results were amazing. This is no exaggeration; all of my friends and family have complimented my skin. Even my aesthetician noted the difference without me confessing I had changed products. These really are the best products I have ever used, but they are pricey.

From what I can remember when I tried them the first time (Mario Badescu), you fill out a consultation form on the website and then they send you some FREE samples. So I don't even think you need to buy anything to try them out. But if you already found something you like, then that's great! :)

Yes, there are consultants. I have already filled out my form... I just can't help myself. I really love my Somme Institute products, but Mario Badescu may be even better or just as effective for less. Thanks for the information!!!

Sabine???

Is the Christian Dior eyecream good for crows feet??? Also, how much is it? Thanks!

I know may women are really love MD Forte - I'll try to find the web site that came recommended where you can buy it much cheaper than at the dermatologist's office.

Curious about the concensus for fine lines (especially crow's feet that are starting to creep in on my face) and who has found the "perfect" cream. I'm now using Ocytin which is ok and have used Clinique's "All About Eyes" which I liked but am wondering what everyone else has found. Is the skin peel good for the sensative area around the eyes?

I'm a skin care slut as well, Dutchgirl!!! :p But my favorites are Cetaphil (soooooo gentle for my sensitive skin), Trish Mcevoy, and Philosophy. And of course, facials every few months :7

Hi Brenda, I wouldn't recommend putting skin peel around the eyes. Those acids can really sting and burn, even those with low percentages. I still haven't found a product out there that can smooth away these fine smile lines, which are only getting deeper as the years go by.:) All this talk about MD Forte is interesting, since I have cystic acne and oily skin. My acne has responded well to Retin-A and glycolic acid, but these are harsh treatments. They've been very good in clearing and smoothing out my face though so I can't complain.:)

Hey Danielle :)

You definitely are a convincing spokeswoman. I wanted to ask you what these products have helped you with specifically. I wanted to find a moisturizer and eyecream that really helped even out skin tone and leave me soft without any kind of breakouts. For me, birth control has completely eradicated my cystic acne, but I am still left with red spots and very prominent blackheads. I'm drilling you as though you were their research specialist :), but I'm just interested in what these products did for you specifically.

Thanks!!!

Sara

Hey Autumn!

Just curious, how long did you use the Somme Institute products before seeing any results? Your skin history sounds like mine. I checked out their website and their stuff is a little pricey, but if something works, I'm sold!

Michele

I have extremely dry skin and (DebbieH, attention! :)) crow's feet (I like to think of them as giggle lines). I've tried it all, believe me. And I swear by: Cetaphil cleanser (cheap and nothing better in the world) and Origins moisturizers.

The Origins products are similar to Aveda and smell refreshing and wonderful, very much aromatherapy. I have tried and love Aveda (I use a lot of their hair care), but I find Origins skincare products to be a little more truly hypoallergenic and they seem to last longer for me. I use different products in the winter when my skin's extra dry. In the summertime I get a little shininess on my forehead under my bangs, so I switch to a light oil-free product for that portion of my face only. (Complicated, but it works.) So this winter I'm using: Daytime -- Make a Difference Rejuvenating Treatment followed by Look Alive Moisture Cream (Nancy, it feels similar to the Aveda Tourmaline cream which I like, but it's creamier). Nighttime -- Make a Difference followed by Nightamins Cream. And AM and PM, I use A Perfect World White Tea Eye Moisturizer. It comes in a little pump bottle that dispenses just the right tiny amount, and it really hydrates my eye area so well!

You can get all the Origins products (as well as Bobbi Brown, Prescriptives, Clinique, Stila, Clarins, M-A-C and other brands online at www.gloss.com , and I've found lots of other high-end brands at www.beauty.com. Both are terrific sites with very nice customer service.

I just started using Cetaphil lotion on my face (they have face cleanser too). My sister, a dermatologist, highly recommends it, and even uses the wash and lotion on her newborn baby girl. My face was all flaky and dull, like it always gets this time of year, but within one week of using the lotion, my skin is SO soft! My husband uses it too. We bought a bottle (a big bottle goes for $8 at Target), and use it all over. It's wonderful AND cheap! I also use Differin on my face, and that keeps my acne and premature wrinkles in check.

Hi Sara,

I really don't have problem skin but you can see my pictures in the link below. I'm 35 years old and I think these products have kept my skin looking young, refreshed and firm. I don't have any wrinkles yet. :p I can tell you that I used to get pimples now and then, and now I never get them.

I've been using Mario for about 5 years. I've tried other products out of curiosity but I always go back to Mario. :)

If you'd like, check out the website, you'll get a free consultation and free samples. They have products for all skin types and for problem skin types they recommend definitely filling out the consultation form. They have all kinds of products for problem skin. I am looking at the brochure right now and it describes all the different types of ingredients that go into their different products. "They are all based on natural botanicals, herbal extracts and skin healing vitamins to rejuvenate skin and restore necessary nutrients." You'll get the brochure with your free samples and consultation. There are a lot of them that promote healing too.

:)

Hello there,

People have always considered me a tolietry queen! I love beauty products, but my faves by virtue that each contribute to making my face look radiant:

--Origins: www.gloss.com/www.origins.com
--Murad Acne Kit: www.murad.com
--Avon Anew Line Corrector and Vitamin C serum: www.avon.com
--LaMer Moisturizer (Great Deal at www.ebay.com)
--Boscia: www.boscia.net (My new fave)
--Loreal Line Eraser
--Mary Kay Timewise products

I am prone to acne breakouts, so having clear skin is very important to me! I am also big in doing what I can to prevent wrinkles. I usually mix up what I do with these products in that there is no set routine.

My best,
Dawn

Kathy-
Is Origins any more or less expensive than Aveda? Spending money on skin care is new to me. It was always one of the few areas where I felt I could cut corners because my skin was pretty good and most of my disposable income was going to finance my insatiable appetite for fine dining. :9

This thread is filled with interesting info!

I'm looking at getting Bare Minerals too. What suggestions/advice can you give a beginner?

TIA
Sue<><

As a mineral makeup junkie, I can suggest making sure you get samples first to try. On-line places that sell samples are Geografx, Monave and Aromaleigh. I'm not familiar with Bare Minerals. I do know that Bare Essenctuals (sp) and Jane Iredale have a shine to the makeup that isn't so great if you have anything but very dry skin. The biggest tip is: you don't need nearly as much as you think when applying. Alexis
