You Fage Junkies

Beavs

To those of you who have gotten me hooked on this delightful fat free protein packed cup o' tasty.....Thanks :9 :9

And by the way, the U.S. Fage facility is very close to my home (so I have an excuse to buy local) in upstate New York and my nephew was one of many working in the facility when it was being built (of which he is course proud of). He said they were all promised a case of Fage but he has yet to see it. I'd like to say I stole it from under his nose but alas, I did not get the chance :p

mmmmmmm.....Fage

This forum! :7 I find out so much and start buying so much because of this forum!!!!! :p

** Going to find out who sells it so I can try it! **

Just be careful you find the 0% or 2% fat, though, if you're watching your weight. Today I ate some Fage I had in my fridge, then realized after I ate it that it was not a reduced fat one. Quite a shock when I entered it on my SparkPeople account tonight.

I find them next to Hummus and deli stuff separate from other dairy items but with a few of the unusual healthy/organic stuff, if you've got an aisle like that in your store.

Me too!! Meijer is the only store that I can find it around here!! I don't buy too much though, at $1.69 a carton it's a treat more than an every day occurance! :p

If you live near a Trader Joe's, they carry their own brand that is a lot cheaper. I usually stock up when I'm there by buying three or four of the 0% kind. Yummy!:9

Nope, no Trader Joe's, no Meijer's, and NO Fage here in Florida!!! I've been wanting to try this for over a year now and can't get it here! ;(

Stonyfield farms makes a greek style yogurt called Oikos. I can get Oikos for $1.56 in western NY at Super Walmart. Fage is $2.19 here. I started shopping at Super Walmart just to get Oikos.

DD gets Fage for about $2 in Manhattan and Oikos is more expensive than Fage there.

I found Fage at Trader Joe's a few years ago, but it was too far from my house to keep getting it, so I started straining plain yogurt to make my own. Now Giant carries Fage, $1.79  for an individual cup, and I'm eating one a day of the 2% with strawberries and a Tb of chopped pecans. YUM!

But it's just sooooo good, and good for me too.

I use the zero fat Fage and buy the larger packages which are $5.00. I can get the container to last me almost a week (the work week that is) so a $1.00 a day for my breakfast is not so bad. We don't have the luxury of Trader Joe's of Wholefoods :-(

I have a tiny container in my fridge just now. Trying to think of what lovely thing I'll do with it. Chocolate protein powder and cocoa powder? Raspberry preserves, flax oil, and banana? I haven't done nuts on the yogurt yet so that's definitely a thought...

Mmmmmmmm......:9

I'm not too fond of it with fruit, but I was thinking that it would make an awesome base for a healthy dip (into which only BAKED all-natural chips would be dipped of course). I imagine it would be great for making tuna salad as well? Has anyone tried that?

Kroger has it in the refrigerated part of the health food section, if that helps anyone. I can't remember if I've seen it at Publix or not.

I love the Trader Joe's version, although I did open a moldy one the other night! Ewww!

FAGE!:9

It's shocking to me how good the 0% fat is; I'm usually not very fond of non-fat dairy products.

I eat it with fruit, or with honey and almonds, or even as a sour cream substitute. It tastes like yogurt used to taste before companies started trying to make it taste like pudding (i.e. yogurt for people who don't like yogurt), by putting all that sugar and/or nasty HFC and gelatin in it. YECHHH!!!!

Nancy - yes, I have used it instead of mayo in both tuna and chicken salad. It worked very well. I also use it instead of sour cream for mexican dishes and on baked potatoes. I am addicted to this stuff. I usually buy the 0% trader joe's brand. I have also strained lowfat plain organic yogurt to make my own, and it comes out fine.

Love it - nice and simple. Either plain, or with honey on top. I sometimes mix in wheat germ for texture. The only other yogurt I buy is Stoneyfield Organic Plain. If I need flavor, I do it myself with fresh fruit.
