Where are all my DECLUTTERING friends???

Where are you folks....the ones that are on a mission to DECLUTTER your house, car, closets, garage, attics and LIFE!?!?!?!?!?

I'm currently decluttering my digital pictures that have over taken my PC and my camera disk. I uploading everything to the PC, then ordering prints, then burning to disc to clean them off the PC, then place a big order of prints by tonight. And THEN, FINALLY, starting this weekend I'll work on getting them all in my scrapbooks!

Makes me tired just thinking about it....but OH WHAT A FEELING!

Gayle

Here I am, reporting for duty Gayle. ;) Good luck with your project! It sounds very worthwhile, if a bit daunting. Let us know how you make out.

I think I've figured out the easiest and least time-consuming way to declutter: I'm going to put my DH out with the trash and be done with it.

Nancy-wouldn't he belong in the RECYCLING BIN??? :)

As for my project....first stages are DONE! ALL pics are off my camera and on the PC. ALL pics on my PC have been uploaded to snapfish.com. I will burn them onto discs when I get home this afternoon and then order! WOO HOO!

Money from clutter

I decided to de-clutter by selling off stuff, so I could pay off our new furnace. I HATE debt. So, if I hadn't done a workout DVD in 6-9 months, it goes on Ebay. Stuff I've bought and never used? Ebay.
I've been able to pay $1000 towards the furnace in about 5 weeks. :D Now, that's a LOT of Ebaying, no big-ticket items, but it's a start. And $3K more to go :( to pay off that silly furnace.

I figure I have another $1000 in "stuff" lying around the house. I don't try to sell things now unless I think I can get $10 for it. Maybe later I'll drop that to $5, and then for all the other junk, it's going into a corner for a yard sale in spring! Whatever doesn't sell in the yard yale is going right to the dump.

I've also decided to declutter and clean stuff one room at a time. It's too overwhelming otherwise, and then I have the satisfaction of at least one room that's all nice and organized!

Gayle, I'm here..... my husband is away skiing this weekend, so I'm going to try to get through a bunch of stuff and surprise him before he gets home. This includes the laundry room, the refridgerator (yes!), and my desk. Scary stuff, wish me luck!

Good ebaying, govtgirl!!

Gayle I'm here doing the ultimate de-clutter - I'm moving! I'm fortunate to be able to do it gradually over the next few months so every time I go up to DF's I bring a box - and I only bring what I LOVE. Everything else will go - either donated or sold. Very liberating.

Right now I'm in the midst of clearing out my cd changer and sorting the music I love from the discs I bought for just one song.

... drowning in clutter as I write. And I'm on vacation!

I should probably do something but, hey, at least the dishes are done! Yea, I've done my part for today...

*tiptoes into thread, head hung sheepishly*

I took a break from my weekly decluttering when I went away for President's Day weekend and I completely put it on the back burner since then. I've did some very lightweight decluttering (books, some pants DS outgrew) since then, but nothing I could point to with pride and say, "Ha! I got rid of that pile!"

But, tomorrow is another weekend so with this kick in the pants, I'm back into it. Thanks Gayle for the nudge!

I am getting back on track this weekend!!!! And with the nice weather coming I am totally in the mood!!!! Just need to get started.

Let's keep a daily or at least weekly check-in. I need the support.!!!
I am on board!!!

I love a clutter frre zone. DH and I recently totally redid our junk room and it feels so great now to not dread opening up the door and not even being able to go in with out tripping over something.
Now the only problem is I do not know how to decorate the darn thing. Right now there is nothing hanging on the walls. No curtains, no blinds. Good thing I live in the woods.;) I can do the remodel stuff but not the decorating.
Growing up we did not have the money for all that so now I am clueless.

I'm busted!!!:D I have been decluttering, do it everyday, just in very small amounts :p But a lot of my house declutter has made its way to the garage!!! With the nicer, warmer weather I will start tackling that job (garage is still too cold!) I am finding my DDs are growing out of many of their toys and baby doll stuff. It is so hard to keep up with the toys and not holding onto the junk toys. And then there are the clothes! Oh man

Good luck everyone!!

I divide clutter into two categories:

1) The stuff that seems to grow in the closets and cabinets - where on Earth did all that stuff come from? When the seasons change, I got through all my clothes and give away a bunch to Goodwill. That also gives me an opportunity to clean out and get rid of everything else (cookware, baskets, books, who-knows-what-else) that I never use.

2) The stuff that builds up around the house just from being here all day (and a messy husband working at home too) - newspapers, jackets, opened mail left on the dining room table, glasses on the kitchen counter. When that builds up I get claustrophic and have to stop what I'm doing and declutter!!:)

I feel good when I declutter, it seems to clear my thoughts

I started decluttering last week. I started with my XMas decorations which were still lingering around in my livingroom. I moved them from the tree into a boxes which set for two months.

I then moved to my closet, OMG, I had shoes and clothes that looked good in the store but for some reason after one wear, I wasn't enthused with them anymore. I realized it been wasteful spending on my part. Money down the drain, and with taking a paycut it really put things into light for me. Oh well, I sold the good stuff to a second had store and got $70 bucks in return, however the stuff was worth a lot more.

The garage will be my next assignment.

Well, my picture project is DONE! I downloaded, uploaded, ordered, burned and deleted! LOL Sounds funny, doesn't it? So now the prints are on their way and I'll begin scrapbooking as soon as they arrive! WOO HOO!

I am done with my garage too!!!!! I put all the out-grown clothes up in the attic above the garage, the car has been washed, the garage completely swept and shop-vacced, all out-grown shoes are put away for donation.

WOW! And it's only noon! lol

BRING IT ON!

Gayle

Whooo-hoo, Gayle! I'm done with my laundry room. We actually did garage and mud room last weekend, so I think I'm officially on a roll, too. Unfortunately, now I need to tackle my desk and I'm afraid and procrastinating!!! Maybe I'll tackle the fridge and pantry first....... either way, I'm jamming.......

-Beth

OH! Doesn't it feel SO GOOD to get something accomplished and the JUNK cleared out??? I love that feeling!

Great job, everyone!

Gayle

Yes! I am psyched! Refrigerator is Martha Stewart/Rachel Ray ready. Still feeling strong. On to either the pantry or the dreaded desk. I swear I will get some closet work in at some point this weekend, too! Go, go!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Good Morning De- Clutterers

I am packing the 3rd bag for the shelter, and the second for the food shelter.

My BIG plan today is the boy's toys. Waiting for DH to take them out so I can go thru them.

BTW- I haven't started the scrapbook cabinet yet!!!! HELP. Give me a push or some good storage ideas for this. 12x12 papers are hard to fit into anything

Hey Ellie:

I found a scrapbooking organizing tower: I put all my rubber stamps, paper cutters, punches, tapes, glues, glitters, and holds 12X12 paper great! I got mine at Costco a few years back, so you could watch stores like that or order here... I have 2 that are completely full of all kinds of scrapbooking and card making stuff!

You can also look at stores such as Walmart, Target, etc that has those plastic drawer containers. Take a 12x12 page with you to make sure it will fit. I just keep mine in the closet (or garage  )

Also, another idea, depending on the room you have is:

http://www.amazon.com/Accessory-Organizer-Value-Pack%2d-Clear/dp/B000MQQFAQ/ref=pd_sbs_k_12

My only concern is that when those pages are left standing up, they have a tendancy to curl and get that bend in the page ~ but you could put cardboard the same size to make sure that the pages stay nice and flat.

:)
