What was your favorite toy as a child?

>Ugh, older brothers can be such a pain. Some of mine managed
>to survive childhood and are in a suitcase in the attic. :D

If you read this wrong, it's hilarious! When I first read this I thought you were talking about some of your brothers managing to survive childhood rather than your barbies! Wow, I glad I figured it out! Thanks for the laugh Lainie!

I don't know if I had any absolute favorites, but I loved litebright, Strawberry Shortcake anything, barbies, easybake ovens, and the games operation and candyland! Basically, something was my favorite if my sister and her friends thought it was cool. And things haven't really changed much since! :p :p

Oh no! Would you believe I'm an English major and I can't even write a clear sentence?!?

That would be pretty funny if I could have my brothers in the attic, though. }(

This all really makes me smile -- especially when I see all the same toys out for my 3 year old daughter -- Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Care Bears and Hello Kitty. My daughter loves all of these and they were around when I was little -- how nostalgic! I, for one, loved my Cabbage Patch Dolls (and yes, my little girl has one of those too!).

Did anyone have "Fashion Plates" (I think it's called). You put together plates of different outfits and rub a crayon over it to make a picture -- then you color in the outfit? Does that ring a bell to anyone? I had that and then something similar to make greeting cards with (don't remember the name of that one).

Thanks for the memories! :)

OMG Charlene!! I had the Fashion Plate thingey too! I also loved Spirograph. Loved Barbie too (it was such a thrill when they made her legs bendy, she had a waay more fabulous life than stiff legged Barbie), it's so true about the abuse she suffered. Ours was also stabbed and had her hair shorn which, year later, we referred to as 'Sinead O'Barbie'.

I used to really like playing Hot Wheels with my DB, he had the loop de loo track. When we got bored of that, we used to chase each other with a length of track, man that had a sting to it if you weren't fast enough and got a slap with it.

I also had a 'Flatsy' doll that came in a picture frame. 'Flatsy, flatsy, their flat and that's that'....any one else remember that song? My older sister used to pi$$ me of singing that to my non existant chest but I made up for it later:eek: ;)

Take Care

Ok .. I will admit it! I too abused Barbie .. went thru a hair stylist phase and chopped up all of my Barbie's hair! {hides head in shame}

I so totally agree about the bendable legs ... LOL... there too I bent those legs in every direction possible!! poor Barbie was TORTURED!!

I forgot about the Spirograph . . I LOVED that one! And the Fashion plate thing I do remember .. which also reminded me of the Dream Date Game .. was like the fashion plate thing but you opened the door to find your "dream date" .. oh how I wish it were that simple!! LOL

I LOVED Matchbox cars. I had a million of them. I also liked Transformers and He-man action figures. I wasn't a total tomboy though, I had plenty of Barbies, My Little Ponies, and Strawberry Shortcake dolls. I was a "well rounded" child. ;)

Oooh, I was very much a girly-girl and I had all of the Barbies and her friends......Madge, Skipper, Scooter and then came Francie and I think she was the "twist and turn" kind. Very bendable. I do remember that my friend and I set up a Barbie Beauty Shop and Francie went under the hair dryer (the desk lamp) and her hair sadly was burned. Then we had to give her a short pixie cut and she was never the same.

I also had Incredible Edibles. It came with this goo-like mixture that you would pour into little bug-shaped molds and "bake" and eat. Mmmmmm! Tasty!x(

Such great memories! And I am sure to be the OLDEST here!

OMG. I forgot about Dream Date. We used to play that all the time!! What fun memories!!

My teddy bears (I slept with them--even two big, kid-size ones!--and on more than one occasion, woke my stepmother up in the middle of the night because I'd accidentally pulled off one of "Big Bear's" button eyes).

Second might be my Raggedy Ann doll (I remember being so excited when I got it for Christmas).

I don't even have to think about it; my favorite toy was my yellow, Easy Bake Oven that I received for Christmas in 1965. I still have the little cake pans:) and I still love to bake.
