What is the weather like where you live ?

Hi Donna --

Thanks for responding! I'm not familiar with Mont Alto Road, but we'll look for it next time we visit our family (later this month).

Jodi

Hi Jilliana,
I was born and raised in the Chicago area also. I was just down there for Thanksgiving. Well, sure you like the snow now that you never have to drive in it. Ha Ha, just kidding.

Thanks Everyone for your replies !!!!!!

I have enjoyed reading them so much, and I have learnt just how different the weather is world wide.

Many thanks

Anna :)

Jodi.........

Can't miss it! It's right off Rt. 30, a long banner type sign over the road reading Mont Alto Rd., there's a Sunoco Gas Station/Mini Mart on one corner, and a pizza place called "Mamma's II" on the other corner.

Hi,
I live in Central New York (Syracuse area) it was 0 degrees last night and we have probally 12 inches of snow.

Does anyone live in florida??? I am in north Fl. and it has been lows of mid 30 to highs of mid 60 here .It has been awesome...a definite relief from the summer heat!!

I grew up in SW Michigan on the lake. I live in Tucson now where it has been so cold lately! Highs in the high sixties or low seventies and overninght lows in the 40's or fifties. BRRR. My mother is visiting from Michigan. A couple of days before her arrival, this "cold" weather moved in. Prior to that it was in the 80's with an 86 degree day! We get lots of sunshine. I love living in Tucson!
BTW, our summers can get as hot as 110. The year my first daughter was born we had 116 in Tucson. Mostly, it is very tolerable since, yep, it's a dry heat!

Really cold in MA. It's gonna be a LONG COLD winter. We've got a couple of inches on the ground and they say 2-7 tomorrow :(

Yep I HATE the cold - not sure why I live here. Funny I was talking to a friend tonite about not having a 5 year plan. My kids will be off in school then. Hearing all the talk of the nice weather is getting me very motivated to move to warmer climates!

Those of you in the nice warm weather --- enjoy and yes I'm terribly jealous!

Here in Vancouver, British Columbia, we've had fabulous weather! It's been in the high 40's and either sunny or just slightly raining. Usually we get lots of winter rain and it does snow maybe once or twice during the winter. So far this year, though, even our local ski hills (we have 3 very local, plus one about 1.5 hours away) are completely bare. Bad for skiing, but great weather to watch the kids' soccer games!

Well.....it's snowy here in Collegeville, Pa. Schools closed....oh, Ya!!!! It's looks like it going to get even heavier as the progresses.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!

Hi - I'm happy (overjoyed) to report that we are having a big snow in the Washington DC area! Although OPM didn't give us the day off (I work for the Dept of Defense), I'm taking advantage of the liberal leave policy and staying home with my sweetie & our golden retrievers. I'm a native of Pittsburgh, so driving in snow isn't intimidating for me. Well, not in Pennsylvania. HOWEVER, the people down here are idiots when it snows, so I avoid driving in it down here. The main danger comes from yuppie jerks who think their SUVs can stop on ice. Keep warm!! Suzanne

RE: SNOW!!!!!!!!!

YES YES YES!! I'm in the Philly area and am workin from home today due to the snow - my company encourages this. I'm from the midwest where we always got a LOT more snow than out here. It still amazes me the way the area shuts down completely when the sky spits out a few snowflakes. Hey, i'm not complaining though! In Chicago this snow wouldn't be stopping anyone and then I'd end up in the office today wouldn't I? :) I'm on my couch with my kitties and some candles, putting of the sidewalk shoveling as long as I possibly can.

YAY FOR SNOW!

Lizzie

I'm in New York, and woke up to around an inch, and now I keep going out every 2 hours to shovel. That should count as some cardio and upper body work I'd say. It's bitter cold too. I'm not crazy about snow, but that's life I guess. We are going to sell our home come Jan(ish) and move to Pa after we sell it, where it should snow a bit more than here. But from what I hear, we are getting hit worse with this storm.

Hi Faythe - do you know where in PA you will be living? If it's anywhere in the southeast where I am, I don't think you'll be seeing too much more snow than you are now.

It is still snowing here and they predicted that it would taper off by now. All my beautiful shoveling has been covered over by several inches...

RE: Hey Connie re Christmas Tree

Re the politically correct stupidity about calling "the" Christmas tree a "Holiday" tree. How bizarre! We just had the exact same thing here in Toronto! The politicians were going to call the Christmas tree at City Hall a Holiday tree. Well, there was such a derisive outcry from the media as well as the public, our mayor stepped in and called the Holiday tree idea the stupidest thing he'd ever heard (guess he missed the "Holiday" tree meeting, huh?).

I really despise all this PC nit-picking. No Christmas pageants allowed at public schools, no Christmas carolling either. So, so silly!

Hi,

What part of SA are you from? I'm originally from Cape Town but have been living in Baltimore for the last 7 years. I really miss it this time of year (especially on a day like today when we have about 6 inches of snow outside!)

Hi Lizzie, It's funny you should ask that. I've been doing research for some time now and we are still kind of looking, but we know where we don't want to go. We don't want the Poconos, or Lancaster county. But we are kind of looking in-between those areas. We'd like to be close by so we can visit family on Long Island. We are looking for a rural, and quiet area where you can get some acres and have privacy. Yet, we would like to be driving distance from a town or city with an airport. DH is working on a CD now, and should be done around the New Year and once that's all packaged up and ready to go, we will start looking into going to these areas to check things out more. We have a friend who moved to Lancaster so we visited them and some of other places in PA. I think the furthest we want to go (from NY) is the Harrisburg area. We'd like to find a place closer though. Church is a big concideration. It's hard to find a good church and we will probably look at that as well as area and the house itself.
We were concidering the State College area but it's a bit too far. Where are you from?
Faythe
