I don't know this is a good weight for you. I don't know the american high and pounds. I am doing the august rotation 2004 to slim down legs and glutes. I recommend to you the interval training like IMAX 2 and IMAX 1 to loss weight.

5'2" and 115 lbs. is not bad! A size 4 is great! If you're not losing that 5 lbs. it's probably because your body says you need it.

I would say you are at a good weight and just need to use weights to firm up. I'm 42, only 5', and I weigh 127 pounds. I also wear a size 4 or 6. I would like to lose about 10 pounds as I loved the way I looked and how my clothes fit when I weighed around 115-118. But more important than losing the weight, I know I need to really concentrate on firming up.

i'm also 5'2" and weigh between 110 and 112.. depending on the day!

i think it depends on your body/bones, etc. if you are eating properly and a decent amount of calories and working out.. but not losing.. then i think maybe your body is trying to tell you that you are at a good weight!

IF you really need to lose 5 more pounds.. then concentrate on a few weeks of heavy aerobics (but don't forget about the weights! cuz weights make lean muscle mass and lean muscle mass burns more calories!)

p.s. only as reference: (1) i'm a cyclist... so i burn a TON of calories on the bike and cyclists are known for being lean (2) i wear a size one in gap/old navy jeans (3) it's HARD HARD HARD HARD to find clothes smaller than size 4 unless you shop the junior department.. so you really want to dress in junior clothes? lol! (4) i endure the "your too skinny" comments and absolutely HATE it (i've ranted about it on here!) grrrrrrrrrrrrr

if you feel good and look good.. don't lose anymore! but ultimately... do what makes YOU happy and is healthy for yOU!
:)

p.s. 2 if i don't concentrate on my food (eating healty and not too many calories.. i stay more at 112... i get to 110 when i REALLY watch my food and do a LOT of cycling and cathe aerobics/weights! so that makes me think that 112 is my "normal" weight... so yes.. i think you losing 5 pounds would be too much!

wonder if i'll think of a p.s. 3 lol!

You sound kind of hung up on the numbers. Do you like the way you look? If so, then who cares what the tag on your jeans says? Who's going to see that anyway besides you?

I know how you feel. I recently lost 50 lbs. and when I reached my goal weight it was hard not to try to lose more, even though I was wearing size 4 and 6 I wanted to lose five more pounds. Also just like you, I had trouble losing any more weight so I finally decided to change my goal. Now I am focused on getting more shapely shoulders and arms and getting a flatter tummy. These goals are not as quantifiable as a number on the scale, but that just keeps me from getting obsessed.

Good luck to you.

It's natural for people to gain a little weight and size as they grow older. In fact, it's healthy to do so. Tamilee Webb (another exercise guru) used to be a little string bean, but now she's filled out all over her body. She's still in great shape, but she's got more "curves" now. I would say her waist is about 50% bigger, but her abs are in great shape.

I agree with the person who said that you might not be able to drop that 5 pounds because your body needs it. If you're in good shape, then don't worry about your waist size. Ya gotta live with the body you gots. Your body just might be a size 6 instead of a size 4, that's all. To push into a size 4 might be too much to ask.

Okay, but if you really want to get into those size 4's...

Stop doing ab work. Ab work builds up the muscle in the stomach region, pushing your abdomen outward. For example, check out Cathe's abs. She's got a flat tummy, but her abs have built out her abdominal region a little bit. She could probably lose an inch or two around her waist if she completely stopped doing ab work, causing her ab muscles to shrink in size...but I think she looks great just as she is (you probably look great, too, by the way :) ). But I know where you're coming from -- when I used to body build, my biggest complaint was that the gym-style oblique work I was doing was making my waist wider, and my pants tighter. My training partner told me to stop doing so much ab work if I wanted my waist to shrink. I did...and my waist got smaller.

Hope that helps.

I agree with what everyone has said. You are most likely the right weight for your body type. Be careful on dropping a size as you could look too thin. I, unfortunately, did this where I dropped quite a bit of weight and several dress sizes where I ended up wearing anywhere from a size 0 to a size 4. Talk about difficulty finding clothes that fit. I was getting really frustrated and depressed because I couldn't find anything that would fit. I also looked too thin and a tad sickly. Now, I'm 5'3" and weigh anywhere between 115 and 122 pounds. I wear a size 4 to 6 and am happier with how I look in my clothes. Even with the larger pant sizes, people still say I'm very tiny.

Hope this helps.

What great responses here -- another thing to consider is if you do ab work -- try Tae Bo's approach to ab work -- I've found that if you do his ab workouts, you really do shrink you ab size. I'm 56, 5 foot 3 1/2 inches and very small bone size and weigh about 110. However, I know how you feel, because I look better in close at 107 pounds. Some say that's too skinny, but it feels good to me. Anything over 110 and my clothes don't fit right and I don't feel as good. 107 to 110 is best for me.

But try Tae Bo's approach to abs -- I love it -- and you do lose inches on your waist line.

I am 5'2" and 45, and I weigh 107.. have just a few more lbs to go to get to 103 or 104 ... I wear a 6 and can fit a little snug into a 4 I would like to eventually get to a 2 or 0, but that is me....
I say do what you want... as long as your not starving yourself:7 ... Rhonda

I found I moved down a pant size without losing weight by WALKING!! I added walking during my lunch hour or after dinner. Now I substitute some cardio days with walking. Running gives me the same result, BUT, I am recovering from an injury so I have to avoid high impact. That's why I started walking and I found that I got smaller! Be sure not to go too heaving on your leg workouts if you tend to bulk up. Get a pedometer and track how many steps you take. In case you doubt this, I'm 5'5" and weigh 115, and I'm 46. I shrank from a size 2 down to a 1 or a 0. I am small boned but I never would have believed I would get smaller without losing weight. I got on the scale and about threw it out the window I was so mad. Then I realized I was buying smaller pants and looking great in them. Pilates also really worked to flatten my abs. The crunches define them and pilates flattens them. Another wierd thing, I stopped chewing gum and found I was less hungry and my tummy didn't bloat.

Best of luck! Happy New Year! Resolve to be fit!

dlaudy, thanks so much for sharing, I try to walk and run outside when its not so cold, today in the 20's, so I have to use my exercise bike...... but thanks again :7 Rhonda

I am 5'2" and am 50 years old. I have always been a bit pear shaped no matter what I do, so I have the same problem. I can get the weight down and STILL the bottom half is slightly bigger than I want it to be.

And, I have some SIL who are a size 0-2, also,. so that makes me crazy, since they can weigh more than me and be so tiny on the pants size.}(

It's just the way I am--genetics do play a bit of a role. You too, possibly. Hate to see you get too thin just to be a different shape than nature intended.

I know it is just so weird how different shapes and sizes look on different people. At only 5' I have been a size 0 and 2 in my past and I looked absolutely terrible. I would never want to be that thin again, but that is just me. I was my happiest when I was a true size 5 juniors. Yes I'm 42, but I still like a lot of the juniors clothing, but I'm now into a 4/6 misses and I really hate it. There are certain jeans I can still wear in a size 5, but they have to be relaxed fit. My goal is to fit into regular jeans without needing relaxed fit.

Hi.... also about your size 5 2 114 at the dr for my physical. I'm 2,3 or 4 depending on the brand. I like this size. I'm in my 40s and find when i go lower it shows in my face.. UGH nothing is worse than the gaunt look. I can tell when I dont get the "you look so young to have kids that age" comments that the fact is looking old.

So sounds like the focus can be on maintaining your weight. Funny how many of us are the same size!
