This has been a big year for me as far as fitness goes - went from definitely not fit to FIT! and have been on track with new fit body for 6 months! Along the way, I've found a few things that have helped me reach my goals. I'd love to hear about some of the things that help all of you with your healthy lifestyles.

These are a few of my favorite fitness finds of 2007:

1) CATHE (of course)! I discovered her last January and she has, literally, transformed me:)

2) The DietMinder : A neat little book that helps me keep track of my food and exercise on a daily basis.

3) Cookinglight.com : I've found so many great recipes from this site...don't know what I'd do without it :9

4) All vegetables, but especially YAMS! : I eat 'em until I'm orange...No more white potatoes for me!

5) hungry-girl.com : I just discovered this site, but it looks like a good find for 2008!

6) These Cathe Forums : I tend to 'listen' more than I post, but I've learned so much and am constantly inspired by listening to all of you! (can you tell that I just learned how to change font color and size?...learned that on this forum today! Thanks to all who share their time and advice!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

Congrads on the colored fonts, I have tried but sadly..failed to "juice up" my own posts.

My favorite fitness finds of 2007? Hum...

1. 4DS Workouts. They just really "clicked' with me. I looked forward to doing them and actually did the whole November rotation with them. Gained alot of muscle endurance and hardness I think.:)

2. Oh my bod clothing. I went nuts and ordered so many of the outfits, really love 'em, my DH thinks its hilarious seeing me wear the same outfits as the gals!:)

3.Oh, and my favorite find? My surgeon who gave me a brand new hip:7

Might have to check out that little Diet Minder book....

favorite finds of 2007:

*Cathe's 4DS- the KB/BC cardio is my favorite cardio!

*P90X- WOW what a workout!}( I am starting week 5 on monday and am totally looking forward to being fried!!

* I don't know if this counts...my DH hooked up a homemade pullup/chinup bar in my basement!

*Betty Crocker vegetarian cookbook: I went back to being a vegetarian this year, great recipies!!

1. Cathe! I discovered her in April of this year.

2. Some other intermediate to advanced instructors: Amy Bento, Jari Love, Tracey Staehle, Kelly Coffey-Meyer, and Kimberly Spreen.

3. http://www.advancedworkouts.com Jen really helped me find some great new stuff--she first told me about Cathe!

4. Some great equipment I didn't use before: step, bosu, stability ball, barbell.

Seriously, I made so many fitness finds in '07 that it's amazing how different my workouts are from last year. I look forward to kicking it up a level in '08!

<where do you get dietminder?>

You can get it at the site that April suggested but I bought two of mine from Barnes & Noble and one from Amazon.com. They only last for about 6 months, but they're worth it for me because they're neat and tidy and provide for all of the information I want to keep track of. The company also makes a Workout Minder, but I haven't had the need for that since there's a spot on each page of the Diet Minder to record my daily workout.

I also meant to add another favorite find to my list: Barbara's Puffins (cinnamon) Cereal ...100 calories for 2/3 cup (1g fat and 6 g fiber with no artificial stuff) a very yummy, healthy snack!

Ditto on CookingLight.com. I've found some really good recipes there.

Since I like lots of variety, this year I've been cruising Overstock.com and Deepdiscount.com for cheap exercise vids. If you are patient, many of the popular ones end up there (except for Cathe, of course). Most times I pay 12 bucks or less per title with little or no shipping.

Sampling exercise videos from Netflix.

Zappos.com for athletic shoes.

Catching the sales on sports bras at the Champion website. They were even cheaper than Kohl's!

Can't remember if it was this year, but I scored a Bosu for $60 and free shipping from GNC.com.

Definitely Cathe!! I just discovered her in March, and it's been such a great year for me fitness-wise since then! Of course, I also got all my new "toys" to go with my Cathe DVD's -- a step, a high step, barbells, etc.:)

1. My first big fitness find was the Cathe forums. I lurked for quite a while before becoming a member or posting anything and I have learned so much about so many different things while here.

2. The joy of step workouts. It is so much fun! I'm still on LIS and haven't moved beyond it in terms of moves yet, but I really enjoy it and look forward to being able to do more.

3. The BFL diet. Okay, I didn't follow it exactly but following those guidelines I have found it helps keep my blood sugar stable, my mood even, and my appetite more satisfied.

4. Cathe workouts in general. Before this year I only had Push Pull/Supersets. Since then I have branched out quite a bit and discovered that I really enjoy Cathe's circuit and step workouts as well!

1.p90x-it's getting me into the best shape of my life! I am in Phase 3 now, amazing.

2. Yoga-see above--I have a renewed interest in my practice. It has been so beneficial for me to take 1 whole day of yoga. The gains I have made are awesome.

3.Pull up bar-what an excellent way to work your back!

I just purchased the dietminder at amazon.com. I should receive it by the end of the week. I hope this helps me keep better control of my eating.

1. I agree with the previous posters who list the DietMinder book. It's awesome! It even has places for supplements, workouts, weight, etc.

2. Cardio Coach!!! :) :) I don't know what I'd do without Coach Sean!!

3. My new Polar F6 heart rate monitor. I can't believe how "below my zone" I used to be on the treadmill. With this little thing, I'm forced to stay more in my target heart zone, and my workouts are much more effective.

Popping back in to tell bella30....you are too cute with your little one and your dog! :7 Love that picture!

Good luck, Laura! I hope you like it! One of the benefits for me is that I think twice before eating someting because I know I'm going to have to record it in my dietminder!

I love hearing about all your fitness finds. They've given me some great ideas for 2008! I'm also getting excited about p90x! I bought this for my DH for Christmas but I plan on using it too! Can't go without Cathe, though, so I'm going to have to sub some of the p90x cardio sessions for Cathe cardio!

Cheers!

I admire your bargain-hunting spirit, TK! Don't forget to check out Craigslist too. I bought my Step (the same one Cathe uses, with 4 risers) on Craigslist for 20 bucks (from someone who lives 15 minutes away from me!)...my fitness buy of the year!
TJ Maxx is another favorite of mine...Nike workout gear at bargain basement prices:7 makes me smile everytime!

>for me!

Just to change this topic for a moment. I was interested in your YAMS discovery and went to purchase one for myself. I looked online to see how to prepare it, and all the recipes had so much sugar. How do you do them, please? Thanks!
