I just finished 'The Double Bind' by Chris Bohjalian...LOVED IT from the first page (always a good sign, eh?) Next on tap is 'Water for Elephants' by Sara Gruen.

What is on your Summer Reading List?

TAMMY!!!!!!!!!!!

I just started a book called Peace Like a River by Leif Enger. I'm only about 30 pages in but I'm loving it so far.

I have a whole stack of books sitting here that I haven't read yet and it's kind of overwhelming. I went through a spell where I didn't feel like reading, and now I have a huge backlog

I'm in the process of reading a stack of books that I'll be having my son read over his summer break. I just read 1984, Animal Farm, and Brave New World. Now I'm starting The Killer Angels, about the Battle of Gettysburg. It's a little hard for me to get into, but I think my son will enjoy it.

I enjoy these threads.

Maggie:)

"Simple Abundance," "SuperFoods HealthStyle," "Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book" and "Eat, Pray, Love."

I just finished "What Makes You Not A Buddhist," and I ended up liking it more than I thought I would.

I have a stack of books as well. But I have the newest Balducci book, just received from the library. Finished my workout, having my favorite beverage ;) and reading. Just finished Fighting Globesity by Les Mills.

MICHELE!!!

I go thru those reading roadblocks too...but all it takes is one great read and I'm back at it with full force...until the next reading roadblock:-( :-(

I apologize for straying from the topic...but do you already have CC#8?? If so, I am beyond jealous and begging for your direct connection to Coach Sean...*SIGHS* ;) ;) ;)

Here's Beavs to tell you what totally uncool non fiction she is reading as of late:

The candy bombers : the untold story of the Berlin Airlift and America's finest hour by Andrei Cherny

I just reviewed The Eaves of Heaven: A Life in Three Wars for Library Journal and it was an incredible book by Andrew X. Pham. If any of you have already read his earlier book, Catfish and Mandala, I highly suggest you read this when it comes out. I know I will be reading the book next...maybe after I read Dharma Bums...I can't decide.

I just finished "Love in the Time of Cholera" and today started "Duma Key" by Stephen King. (Big change in authors huh? :))

Jo

Jo, that sounds like my kind of author swing.

I'm still reading The Stand by Stephen King (because of recommendations here). Meanwhile I'm listening to all of the Harry Potter books on CD. I read them all in regular book form as they came out but now I'm enjoying them another way.

I've just finished Certain Girls, by Jennifer Weiner.

Its not as good as her others, Good in Bed, Goodnight Nobody and In Her Shoes, but its o.k (It'll do for bedtime, I'll just turn off the day reading)

Don't know whats next.

For all you "Shopaholics" (Sophie Kinsella) fans. You Must read "Remember me" her new one. Its not a sequal to the shopaholics books. Its just a really great read! I love it!

I'm in the middle of reading _The God of Small Things_ and am also reading a book called _The Body Myth_ about adult women and weight issues.

_The God_ isn't pulling me in a lot, so it's been slow reading, but _The Body Myth_ is great.

I'll have to check out _The Double Bind_. I loved his book _Midwives_!

I love these threads, too! I always get such great ideas!:)

I just got a bunch of books including "Straight Up and Dirty" a bio about a wild woman.:p And one called "The Summer of Naked Pool Parties" I believe it is about the 70's.:)

Tneah! I'm reading Straight Up and Dirty as we speak! Love it.

Just finished The Secret Lives of People in Love - by Simon Van Booy. It's a collection of really haunting short stories.

And I also just read Look Me in the Eye - by John Elder Robison. He's the brother of Augusten Burroughs and this is a memoir of his experience growing up with undiagnosed Asperger's.

I'm in the middle of "Confessions of a Carb Queen", a memoir by a woman who lost 250 lbs. It's quite interesting, though she is very extreme. DEFINITELY turned me off of fast food and drive thrus. Wow.

Next on my list is : THE KILLER ANGELS by Michael Shaara. It's a historical fiction novel about the Battle of Gettysburg and the Civil War. That's usually not what I read, but it was lent to me and recommended by a friend. I also liked JOHN ADAMS, so she said I'd really like this one.

"It's So Much Work to Be Your Friend" by Rick Lavoie. It's about the enormous social skill problems learning disabled children have and how to help them. My DS has ADHD & Aspergers and the author's observations are dead on and his advice is absolutely brilliant. I highly recommend it to any parent with a child who has LD.

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.
