What are you loving about fall fashions?

LauraMax

I think we've discussed ad naseaum what we don't like. So here's a nice upbeat thread about what we love that does not include any democrats or republicans. :p

Color color color! Now, I'm not great w/colors--most of my wardrobe consists of blacks & grays--but I am a purple fanatic & I am so happy that this year purple is the new black!

I'm glad that skinny jeans didn't force flares out of style.

I love the tailored look that's come back--it's kinda Annie Hall but not too masculine. Especially the vests--they're so cute!

I love the knee length pencil skirts. Almost any woman looks hot in a pencil skirt!

I love that big hair is back, esp. b/c I have big hair without trying.

What else?

I like the cute vintage-styled shoes that are knocking around. I am on the brink of getting some of these: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/43956261/c/72.html.

Their whole line of shoes this fall is cute: http://www.zappos.com/n/es/d/722382890/page/1.html.

I'm also happy with the continuation of flared jeans and wide-leg trousers. I will eat a pair of skinny jeans before I'd ever contemplate putting them on my body. I know they work for some people, but is it really worthwhile for the fashion industry to cater to those two people? The rest of us need pants!

I love pencil skirts too! I just bought a denim one to wear with a flannel blazer, scarf, tights, and black riding boots. I love sweater coats, boots, scarves. I love purple, too. I like skinny jeans cause I can tuck them into my boots without the extra fabric. Oh, and I love tweed trousers and plaid. I love fall clothes! I just wish I had more places to go. As a stay at home mom, I don't find many opportunities to wear the more dressier stuff:( Ah, well. One day.

I'm with Lisa--I love the shoes for this season.

And, I've met Klaudia--she's one of the two people skinny jeans are made for! They look GREAT on her.

I bought a corduroy skirt and a dressier black pencil skirt with cute button detailing at the waist. It's a little dressy for where I work, but it will be good for meetings and things like that. I have a meeting on Friday where I'm going to wear it. Along with these great dark red Mary Janes with 3 inch heels. I don't wear heels often, but these were too good to pass up.

Oh, the shoes Anne! They're gonna look awesome with that skirt. I'm envious of you ladies. I think I'll get dressed up for my PTO meeting tonight-just because:) Now I'm gonna have to buy some mary janes-thanks you enablers.

PLUM PLUM PLUM

Yeah, I really love the purples and plums this season. PLUS...one of my FAVORITE all time things about fall clothes in general? OPAQUE tights! LOVE 'EM!

i just love the kind of clothes you get to where in the fall when you live in a normal place where the temperature is not 90 degrees.

i have a pair of khombu boots that i cannot wait to wear, but i will only get to wear them on the weekends when we go to the snow in tahoe. i am a more sporty dresser, but i love to see the fall fashions on everyone else. it always makes me wish i were that fashionable....

i bet you ladies look fabulous this fall...

I really love the fall and I ADORE sweaters. I saw the cutest short sweater dress in a Kohl's catalog the other day. It was charcoal gray and the girl was wearing the opaque tights with it. SOO cute. Wish those would have been in last year when I was thin enough to wear an all-knit dress. Ugh. Due to baby fat, I'll be wearing BIG SWEATERS this fall/winter. LOL. No mini-dresses for me this year!! ;) Hope you fit ladies will all sport them in my honor!!

I'm LOVING LOVING LOVING the coats and shoes in the Jessica Simpson collection this year (don't roll eyes until you've looked at it, ladies!) Here you go:

http://www.jessicasimpsoncollection.com/

I would buy everything Jessica is wearing in the opening shot...if I had money! LOL!

No eye rolls here. I am embarrassed to say I own a pair of JS shoes. I can not stand her but they were so cute and on sale. lol

Fall clothing is some of my favorite. I love my knee high boots, scarfs and sweaters. Fall clothing is also a lot more forgiving then the skimpy Summer stuff. ha

What else?

Oh crap LauraMax,

I was going to start a thread this morning about how lazy I get in the fall about getting dressed. I usually end up throwing on a sweatshirt (Cause it's chilly) or grabbing the first really comfortable thing I see. Now it looks like I'm gonna be making a trip to the mall to keep up with you fashionistas!!!:D:D

My sisters always yell at me (yes I'm 43 but I'm the baby) that I've done all that hard work (Cathe) and then hide under my sweats. DH thinks so too. So where do I start?? Anne Taylor, JS (I didn't even know she had a clothes line) or just start with a few basics???

HELP!!!

Elliemom, get thee to the Banana Republic and Eddie Bauer. That's where I bought the majority of my fall stuff. BR has some great classics and you just can't go wrong with an Eddie Bauer sweater. Their stretch twill pants are fantastic, too.

Anne Taylor is great, too, but for me I find the clothes at BR and EB fit my style better. I, too, prefer sweatshirts and sweatpants, but I've become addicted to What Not to Wear on TLC and have been trying to put more of an effort into my appearance.

And, do you have Kohl's near you? Their stuff is not high quality, but the price point is such that you could get a few things and see how you like them. If you do like them, then find higher quality pieces elsewhere, such as Eddie Bauer, Anne Taylor, etc.

And, have fun! It really does boost your self-esteem when you get some great looking clothes to wear.

Start at the Gap & Banana Republic. They're always fashionable but not too over the top, & their prices are reasonable. Oh, & I really love Anthropologie, J Jill & Isabella Bird for my more casual stuff, their clothes are very feminine but also very comfy (a bit pricey though).

BTW I agree w/your sisters--the thing I love most about summer is showing off all that hard work from the rest of the year! ;)

No eye rolls over JS either. I think she puts out some super cute stuff. I wonder how involved she is in the designing? AND I also happened to like her, I think she's adorable!

I bought these boots and they're JS. I love them. I love all boots. Loving the ankle boots with skirts and tights. I'm probably considered too old for these but I like them anyway. :D I also like the sweater dresses.

These are REALLY cute! Good purchase!

LauraMax, I like Jessica too AND Anthropologie--actually, I love everything in Anthropologie. That's the only store that has ever made me WANT an apron...

Elliemom--Try Ann Taylor Loft, too. They are a bit cheaper than Ann Taylor but have really cute pieces. Don't forget accessories, too! :)

I just wanted to tell you that I have seen these shoes at TJ Maxx for much less. You might want to check out that store.
