We're in This Together (March 2013)

Afternoon girls!

Today we woke up to discover the kids wouldn't have school today due to the weather (already got 6 inches of snow and more coming!). Luckily, the daycare was still open so I didn't have to take the day off of work. Of course, I had a ton of patients cancel, too. I have a bunch of appointments in the evening (I work until 7:00 pm on Tues/Thurs) so we'll see if those folks show up! Hopefully the drive home tonight won't be too scary!

I thought about doing a HoCo workout today, but due to some neck pain (got that fixed up at the chiro before work :)) and the upper body DOMS I'm still feeling from Sunday I decided to hold off until tomorrow. I decided to do a leg day instead. Since I'm addicted to doing a short hiit/tabata before my legs lately, my workout ended up being Tabatacise: warm up + tabata 4 and 5, then XTrain Legs: premix standing + ball/chair (wearing my 8 lb vest and using heavier weights than Cathe). I really wish Cathe had done the premixes on Tabatacise differently. I would like to pick and choose just certain intervals in the order I want. As it is I had to chapter skip several ahead to do the 2 tabatas I wanted to do.

My left foot/ankle is telling me the next several days MUST be low impact. Darn body limitations!

Sarah- The rear delt focus is another thing I had intended to keep up with! What I've been doing lately is I keep a band, a pair of 5 lb dumbells and a pair of 2 lbs (for scarecrow challenge) and I just recently brought my 25 lb kettelbell in to work. I keep all this stuff under my desk and between patients, a couple times a week, I'm trying to remember to do some back/rear delt work. It seems to be the only way I can fit it in! I've been trying to incorporate some swings in my day, like 20 at a time so I don't work up a sweat but I raise my heart rate briefly. I just sit way too much at this desk! :(

Marie- I hope B is feeling better! Nothing worse then when little babies get sick. :( Poor Dylan was sick with respiratory things constantly when he was a toddler. He is still prone and with as many times as he has had pneumonia I swear he has some kind of mild asthma. I keep asking the doctors about it but they don't address it too much. They did prescribe an inhaler we could use "as needed". I think he may need it for sports when he gets older...I just have this feeling, you know?
Are you guys getting hit with this snow, too?

Natty- I forgot to mention about the Minnesota thing, Wisconsin is right next to MN so Marie and I are like neighbors! :D In fact, I actually grew up in MN since LaCrosse is right on the border. This whole area is "home" even though I technically live in a different state then my parents. :) Great job on the cardio today! What kind of PT job do you think you'll be interested in? I always felt so guilty when I was on maternity leave in that I couldn't wait to get back to work. I love my kids, of course, and I felt so guilty about it, but I just couldn't take the day in and day out every single day being at home. Work was like a vacation practically where I could actually relax more! lol Now if I had the choice, though, I would have just worked 3 days a week, or 4 days max...with no weekends and no evenings. That part of my job sucks. :(

Jen- have fun with the packing! I'm like the other girls in that it is my least favorite thing to do! I have super high anxiety whenever I move. We've had our house now for 10 years, but before that, in school and when I first graduated I pretty much moved every single year for one reason or another. Sometimes every 6 months in some years. Ugh. I do not miss that! I love being settled. I remember when I moved out of my apartment when we first bought our house my poor kitty totally freaked out. We couldn't find him and I was worried that he had escaped the apartment and with all the chaos nobody noticed. Well, we finally found him in the box spring of my bed. He had torn the material and wriggled up into it!

I wrote a book! Have a great one girls!

I feel as though I'm coming back to clarify my entire post today . Here in Canada, a part-time job is sometimes written as p/t. I know PT stands for Physical Therapy too, but I did not intend to use it that way. Sorry! I honestly have no clue as to what job I will be looking for. I was a manager before I had Bella, but TBH I'm not ready to go back into that. Pharmacy Retail (or any retail for that matter) is extremely hard. Long hours, weekends, nights, holiday's. It's not your typical 9-5 Mon-Fri office job. It's very tiring -- mentally and physically exhausting. I seriously will lose about 5-10lbs in the first month or two, just because of all the walking, standing, short breaks. That's great and all, but it can wreak havoc on the back :( not to mention how achy your legs feel. And plus, I don't know if I want all that responsibility at this point in my life. So a nice part-time job, 3X/week, wherever I can get one, will be ok at this point while Bella is still small.

Sarah
You've been killing it with your w/o's lately! Proud of ya :D.
Don't you just love the oatmeal and chocolate? What kind do you put in there? Speaking of peanut butter (don't get me started, please ) I just bought an awesome one sweetened with Maple Syrup [enter Oh dear heaven sigh]. I put in in my oatmeal today, and was literally transported to an orgasmic state and beyond .
I have the High Step from Cathe and LOVE IT!!!! I makes those step-ups with 5 or 6 risers so much harder! You MUST BUY ONE .

Colleen
Sorry you guys are getting a lot of snow too . Hope your drive is not a messy one tonight!
Holy Tamale w/o today . Have you ever considered getting downloads that way you can mix & match as you please? If you do, only get the newest w/o's because they are the most successful in the Blender.
Cool that you and Marie are so close to each other. There are so many people on this forum that live in Toronto and the surrounding area's.

Ok, gotta jet! BB tomorrow :)

Nat - That PB w/maple sounds like it would be down right dangerous. What is that UB premix that you have been doing that you like so much? Thatnks for the high step recommendation. I have money burning a hole in my pocket from selling furniture on Craigslist.

Colleen - I hope the drive home wasn't too scary. I hate driving in that stuff. We just never get enough of it for me to have any confidence.

Todays's WO was KPC w/ abs but I only made it through the 2nd punching and kicking combo. I love that one. I will also be doing a short LB WO today. Not sure what, yet. Yesterday I wanted to do a UB WO and when and put in Power Hour thinking there might be a good UB premix on it. To my suprise the disc was broken. I was pissed! I got over it and did a UB premix of Supesets. It was good for bi's since they are tight today. I thought it was a little weak in the back and chest. So I added push-up, chinups, and pullups ( all assisted of course).

Sarah

Hello Friends.

Colleen. Bummer on the snow. I missed it here by 100 miles. Snow days were fun as a kid. Drive safe going home tonight.

Sarah. Love KPC! Cathe's best kickboxing workout. High Step rocks!!

Natty. Part-time at IKEA? No, that would be too dangerous. I understand about the aches and pains no matter how good of shape a person is in.

Update:
Airline booked. Vet appt made. Had to find Vet determination of breeds to get my cats on the plane. Rental insurance done. With longevetity and no claims, I got my insurance at $10 per month. Much of the packing is done but need support so my Mom is driving down from northern MI to get me straight. Parents are helping me financially cause they know its the right thing to do. My youngest bro mentioned he might too. He makes at least 100K.
Found out my brother in Houston is only 4 hours from me instead of the 6.5 hours I thought. Halfway would be Buffalo Texas.
1 send off party, 1 send off dinner and another person's party before I move. Maybe, a family get together.
Also, a classmate of mine from Detroit whom was kinda a bully lives about 30 minutes north of me. With my knack of running into people being an exact science, I know I'll run into her either at Grapevine Mills or IKEA Frisco. My new hometown, North Richland Hills, is rather quiet and slower than other areas. Forbes rated it as one the best places to live in 2009.
Thank you for knowing in your hearts that Texas is the right move for me. The positive energy is overflowing. My gut is telling me that my sister's company will hire me eventually there.
Sorry for all of my rambling.

Hello ladies!

Yesterday's workout: Cardio Supersets plus HC May Hardcore. Sandra just amazes me with how creative she is with her moves! I never imagined there would be so many totally different variations on plank based moves! This one also had some killer leg and glute work, too. I just love HC!

Do any of you guys have a suspension trainer? A couple of the girls on my VF check in have one and one of the girls has been using hers a lot the last few days. It has me intrigued!

Crap! It got late on me...gotta get the kids to the bus!

Colleen - Long WO! WOW! I just read an article about the top ten at home fitness equipment. The suspension thingy was one. They are expensive though, I think it said something about 100. ??? I could be wrong though.

Today I am sooooo sore in my LB from STS TB LB premix. It was only 23 minutes but ouchie momma! I was suppose to run intervals today but I am way to sore. So maybe a walk, UB, or rest day. I used my 20lb weighted vest on top of the normal weights. I have had 5 advil today hopefully I can do some house cleaning.

Sarah

Oh and I only slept 4 hours last night. I woke up at 2 and my mind wont turn off of thinking of business/new product ideas. I do this often, unfortunately. Normally this would be followed with a day of binging because I tired and crabby. Today I decided I won't repeat past mistakes and took the kiddos to school and went back to bed. I feeling better except the the DOMS.

Sarah

Sarah- lol, yep it was quite the workout yesterday! Of course, today I took it easy with a gentle yoga workout from Travis Eliot (Foundations, workout 2). Tomorrow I'll be taking the day off. The DOMS are settling in right about now! Upper body (chest, upper back, lower back, shoulders, triceps... yowza!) I had to laugh about the advil...I surrendered and took 3 right before you posted! lol

Dang it, gotta run again! I'll try to get more personals in later!

Hi everyone :)

Yesterday we went to Reptilia, which is a huge indoor zoo with only reptiles! We went last year, but Bella has been asking to go back lately. It's so cool there . We watched a feeding of a giant Boa Constrictor . Just in case you're interested, they feed it already dead small mammals like birds, rabbits, mice. Bella had no problem touching the lizards and snakes (with the caretaker holding them of course). She is a big lover of animals and nature, which apparently is part of the Pisces personality :).

Can you believe my UB is still DOMS'ing from my last GS?! I was going to continue with GS this week, but the DOMS overtook my plans  so I can only fit in 1 UB w/o this week. I made a premix in my blender with XT, which includes all upper body work. It comes in at around 50min.

Oh and I forgot to report that I did B&G on Wed. This time around went very well, although I did not use a barbell because my shoulder's were so sore. The DOMS is great!

Jen
I had no idea the cats were being transported by plane :(. For some reason I thought you would be driving . I'm sending lots of safe kitty travel prayers your way!
Your new hometown in TX sounds lovely :). I always have a feeling when I'm going to "run into" people from my past . It happened all the time in TO.
And I would love a job at Ikea! LOL, ya it would be a bit dangerous .

Sarah
The UB premix I love is from 4DS and Body Max (original).
The PB w/maple is not laden with calories and sugar. It's this kind:
Welcome to Peanut Butter & Co.
I've bought so many varieties and they're all great!
I'm sorry sorry about your lack of sleep the other night :(. I really think you should get into business catering events and/or baking.
How is your ankle doing btw?

Colleen
How is your foot/ankle today?
The TRX suspension looks very interesting . I would seriously LOVE one of those! Along with a spin bike, Bowflex, hex dumbbell's, elliptical, squat rack, and the beat goes on ;). Maybe by the time I'm 50, I will have acquired all my fitness goodies . Let us know if you get one!
So everyone at my other check-in is on the HC wagon -- except for me. My dread for plank-based moves makes the temptation not so great. Even if it could give me a flatter core and a rockin' 6pk, I still wouldn't do it! I think the dread stems from only doing JM and Bob for 2 years before I found Cathe. All I was doing was damn mountain climber's and plank-jacks!

Marie
Hope B is feeling better :) and you got some much needed sleep yourself.

Rhythmic Step this morning. At work now and waiting for the clock to show 3:30 so I can go home and be with my boys. Miss them!

B is feeling a bit better. He is still stuffy but his cough is gone thank goodness. My poor little man. I haven't worked out since Monday. It was a combo of me feeling guilty for working out while B was sick and just being lazy. He slept plenty so I could have just put him in his crib and let him sleep but oh no I held me alllllll day. It was very relaxing to just snuggle with him. I read magazines and watched Friday Night Lights. It was a nice 4 days but man did I feel lazy. Oh well!

I preordered :) PUMPED for all of the new workouts but especially the step ones :)

More good news.... Tony and I got approved to take vacation from May 3rd to the 10th. We are headed up north for his Grandpa's bday party that first weekend and then are thinking, wait for it...Puerto Rico baby! Stoked!!! We just wanted to go to the beach and have never been there so we thought why not. Has anyone been there? Recommendations? I'm so excited to take B to the beach for his very first time! Happy happy mama!

Colleen- My BIL put my mom and I through a TRX suspension trainer workout. They rule! Hello DOMS. It's amazing how many moves you can do with those things.

Sarah- Poo pocket. I lOVE it and have been doing it since reading it. Works wonders :) Hope you got some rest.

Natty- Reptilia sounds like fun. Bella is sure a brave lil one :)

Jen- Good news all around. Glad things are moving forward.

Sorry for the quick check-in. Gotta give report to the PM nurses.

I am sooooo sore still. I think an Epsom salts bath is calling my name this evening. I did take a 3 mile walk yesterday and ran about 10 sprints during it. Today I managed to do Ride and a premix of Yoga Relax. I actually feel better while I am exercising the endorphins kick in and I don't feel the DOMS. But, boy oh boy, I am having a hard time just standing up. I am hoping to fit in a UB WO today.

Nat- The Reptilla sounds like fun. TJ and I very much want a baby Ball Pyhton (they stay small) but alas my hubby says NO. I am hoping one of these days my mom will give him one as a gift and the hubby will just have to deal with it.
Thanks for the advice on the premixes. OMG on the PB site. One of those gift sets would be great gift for my hubby to get me along with anything Cathe that I don't already have. Oh and hex weights too. I have decided because my dumbbells have super wide ends (plates) it makes anything where I hold them close to my body very hard.

Marie - Glad B is feelin' better. I don't blame you for wanting to just cuddle him. You will still want to do that when he is older because it's one of the only times they still want cuddles. Thanks about the poo pocket : )

Colleen - Are you still hobbling around? The Advil isn't doing enough and I'm afraid to take more than about 5 at a time.

Jen - Hope everything is falling into place. I am actually watching my nieces little dog right now because she didn't want to take her on the plane.

Sarah

Hello girls!

Today I sat home with Lydia. School called just as I was getting ready to leave for work to let me know she had thrown up and had diarhea. She was complaining about her tummy this morning but man, they have missed SO much school this year I hoped it was just something she ate last night. Sigh. Will this winter ever be over? How many bouts of stomach crap does Lydia have to go through? I swear, with her it's always digestive and with Dylan it's always respiratory. :(

I was going to take today off of working out, but since I had to stay home today anyway I decided to get something in and take tomorrow off instead. I ended up doing RKS: workout 8 and 9 (total time 40 minutes). I don't know if I've mentioned this one to you guys before? It's a kettlebell system I bought almost 2 years ago. I don't use it often but I really should, they are basic, to the point and short. I think I have a hard time reaching for them because I always think of them as a "system" that I need to commit to as a rotation and have a hard time just choosing which disc to do on any given day. This is why I don't buy any Beach body systems, like P90X!

Marie
- I'm glad B is feeling better! Never feel bad about skipping workouts to cuddle. ;) The pics on facebook of him are killing me! He is SO damn cute, and I'm not just saying that I swear! :D

Sarah- The DOMS got better today, as is my ankle. I'm starting to fear I have arthritis in that ankle. :( When I went to PT for my knees, the PT sort of moved my left ankle around to check it out after I mentioned I had sprained it years ago. She just sort of looked at me and shook her head a little. I was like "what?" She didn't really say it, but that look told me she knew I'd have problems with it eventually. The ligaments and tendons just got stretched out and weakened on that side so that it always felt "looser" and more unstable. Phooey. :(

Natty- I'm glad you got to have a good experience with B&G this time! What did you think of the warm up? I just love the use of the ball in that one. Like I said before, I rarely use the ab section on that one or even the floor part, but I do use the bonus footage sometimes.
I know what you mean about all the stuff you want, that's me too!!! I want an elliptical (a gym quality one, not a cheapo), a TRX suspension trainer, a Fitbit and lately I seriously am thinking I want to get a Roku or something like that so I can stream the free youtube workouts to my tv! I seriously need to get with the times on technology. I still haven't updated my stupid phone!

Jen- Sounds like your packing is coming along! I hope the flight goes smoothly with the kitties and everything!

Gotta get going. Have a great night girls!

Okay so I did 4ds UB premix. It was good and towards the end I pooped out. But I really liked it overall and the shoulder part was kick a**. My shoulders were on fi yah. I took an Epsom salts bath too and almost fell asleep as I was reading Lighting Thief. My daughters love books and I am not a big book reader unless it Jillian or cookbooks. Taylor loved all the Rick Roirdan books and wanted me to try one, so it has taken me 3 months to get through it.

Colleen - I'm so sorry about Lydia. Hopefully she'll feel better by tomorrow. I knew you had not wanted them to miss anymore school do to taken vacation during school. I always feel the same way because we take the kids out for a week in September.

Sarah

Hi Friends.

Happy Friday Night!!

Colleen, Think it's a new virus. Hope Lydia is feeling better soon.

Sarah, are you icing your injury? Rarely, heat works. Stay off of it.

Marie, my sister has been to PR and loved it although would never move. Love the pics of B. on FB too! Clothes from Grandma are always fun to see.

Natty, B & G is awesome! Yes, I'm in shock I don't own GS series. Repitilia, never heard of it.

Update:
Praying and giving it to God about my flight, pack and job hunt. Got my boys an calming pill which I need per suggestion of a few friends. Still not 100% yet. Will have Vet claim breeds on health certificate. Improvement (?) on jobs and economy nationwide will send Texas higher with jobs. My gut feeling is that I will work for my sister's company cause the "apple doesn't fall far from the tree." We have similiar education, job experience, longtime with employment, etc. Plus, it's also strong for my former classmate.
My workouts are packing and cleaning. packing burns 220 calories per hour.
Hope to post pics on FB of the new place whenever I get there.
Also, my car rental is from the same place as before. They'll remember me.

Rest day today. I'm at work right now but I forgot to mention to Marie I'm stoked for you and Puerto Rico!! I've never been there but I'm a huge fan of ANY island in the Carribean! :D I rarely want to vacation anywhere else. lol

Gotta run. Have a great Saturday girls!

Happy Saturday everyone :)

Yesterday's w/o was Power Max . An oldie but a goodie! My legs were still sore from B&G, so by the end I wanted to collapse. Thank goodness I only used 6inch instead of 8inch like Cathe & crew .

I made these amazing muffins last night! Here is the link:
= PROTEIN POW(D)ER !: Orange & Vanilla Whey Protein Muffins

Ok, so instead of "quark" (I have no clue what that is btw, and I doubt that readily exists here in Canada anyway ) I substituted with sweet potato. HOLY YUM was it ever delish!!! I added some crushed walnuts too and let me tell ya', I was in heaven eating one straight out of the oven :p. I'm obsessed with Anna's blog!

Rough sleep for me last night though :(. Bella was up every 2hrs and I have no clue why . Maybe she had a bad dream or something. Either that or I think she wants to KILL ME!

BB for personals soon!

I already did hiit 40/20. It went good but again I only have 2 risers for each side. So thats a little cheat.

Marie - Never been to Puerto Rico. Do they have good food there? For me my trips are planned around the food. I know, its sad.

Nat - I guess I will be baking today. I have to try them. I had another sleepness night as well. Between my brain thinking of business ideas and the smoke detector low battery chirp. I was up from 1 - 4.

Colleen - Is Lydia feeling better? Happy rest day. Yippee another week down.

Jen - My ankle is doing good. Yes, I am still icing it to try and get ridd of the last little bit of swelling. Most of the time it doesn't bother me except if I do some sort of torquey move. Glad you got the pills for your kitties just in case.

Sarah

I did Intensity again today. Man is that a good workout! I was dying until I got to the low impact Hiit. I also did Core 1.

I'm at work right now and missing my boy. My mom and stepdad are in town watching him. They brought some steaks from their local meat market so we're grilling those up for dinner. YUM! I never cook meat myself so it's always a treat when I have it.

Natty- Those muffins sounds delish! And yeah what the heck is quark?! Regardless I bet sweet potato is better. I'm saving that recipe. I was thinking about buying Power Max. Complex step right? She doesn't have a video of it posted on the website.

Sarah- Nice job on your workouts! That bath sounds well-deserved. I'm not much of a book reader either. My self-diagnosed ADD seems seems to kick in. Magazines are more my style. That's great that your daughters enjoy reading though. I'm not sure how the food in PR is but I'm with you on the food thing ;) I love trying new food.

Colleen- How is Lydia? Poor peanut! Hope she's feeling better! Thanks for the comment about B. I agree ;)

Jen- Nice job on the packing workouts :) Looking forward to seeing pictures of the new place.
