We're In This Together **APRIL**

Good evening :)

Today's w/o was Imax 3 (step, no blasts) + hiit 30/30 = 60min of sweat here, there and everywhere! I've tried to do steady state cardio after hiit and it never worked, I was just too fatigued by that point. Imax 3 step portion was great, not too hard (cardio-wise) and my legs were spared for the high intensity to follow.

Colleen
You are super cool to be doing firewalkers and dixie cup lunges at work! I don't think that's nerdy, I think that's great :).
If you are not sore after a workout, does that mean you have to up the weight #'s? I thought I went pretty heavy yesterday, but no severe DOMS. Hmmm.....
Great job in tackling Imax2. Every time you do step, you get better and your mind will start to memorize and recognize the choreo, even if you're not aware of it. Trust me, I know. I was there 1 year ago just staring at the screen all frustrated.
Question about STS, what exactly is the active recovery week for? I'm not supposed to do any weight work whatsoever?
Jen
What is the Golden Corral? What kind of a buffet? Yes, they are dangerous, but for me it's usually the sweet table that calls my name .
I wish I could celebrate with you on graduation day with some nice cold beer and chicken wings :p

Have a good night everyone :)

Have a good night everyone :)

Golden Corral is a buffet that has everything like a health food area then Asian, Mexican, Italian, comfort food and Southern like greens. Huge dessert area.
Have a beer for me on Tuesday for me.

Conflict of my gut telling me not to finish the project cause she has moved on and my hours are over to just doing it. My heart isn't in it. Everything started so great with income potential. Going to email her that I need time. Thanks.

Colleen your awesome for getting up and moving even at work. They say thats really good for people that have desk jobs or don't have to move around much at work.

I did use my rest weeks in STS. However, I did still do cardio.

I usually am not a buffet kind of girl because around here they are about quanity over quality. I am a quality and quanity kind of girl. But maybe we just have crappy buffets.

Today was STS Disc 3 Back and Tris. I really want to see horse shoes someday.

I was down 2 pounds today! But it was my mothers birthday also. So that meant I had to make a cake for her. It was a strawberry cake with a strawberry cream cheese frosting. It was really really good. Who am I kidding you could put cream cheese frosting on a trailer hitch and I'd be licking it off. I had one slice and didn't over indulge to much. Which is what I normally do. I'm one of those that say oh I just had a piece of cake so I might as well have a half a cake. I'm hard headed and it's usually all or nothing with me that includes exercising to.

Hello everyone!
Just poppin'in to say I'm still alive even if not writing/reading much on the board...2012 is not our lucky year, lately I've been going to and fro ER with little Riccardo (asthma attacks) and DH ( colics due to gallstones, just right now he's in hospital waiting for the surgeon to tell him when he's scheduled for surgery :() so no time for working out, no time for sleep either, eating very badly bits and pieces of food that I find here and there... I hope we'll come to an end of all this illness in our family because I'm really fed up!!!!
Anyway...I miss you all and my working out with Cathe as well... Hope to go back to normal life soon. Thank you all for your kind words about my dropping one size..I hope not to lose my results as these are my Sloppy Joe days... Can't wait to double knot my laces again!
Happy stepping/lifting/sweating to everyone!

Ellie-Sorry for all your bad stuff with Ricardo and DH. Stressful situations on both counts.
Sarah-Yes, I prefer Quality over quantity too. Panera over McDs anyday. From what I was told, Golden Corral is the more affordable cousin to Fire Mt.. There salad bar looked good.

Last night, I emailed my internship company host and she responded. I am DONE and it feels GOOD. Not going to an event today, only 4 hours of sleep last night, my mood is not conducive to hearing 10 diff opinions on my resume.

YIPPEE! The turbo tower is back in stock at WalMart.com!!! I pounced immediately and got it! I didn't even call Mark first:eek:. Okay, gotta go. BBL to write more!!

You guys aren't going to believe this. I checked the WalMart site again because I intended to post about the tower being available on Open Discussion. Lo and behold the tower was out of stock again! They must have just had a few in stock and they got snapped up right away again! Good thing I pounced when I did. I barely thought about it, I just clicked purchase! ;) Crazy!

Natty- as far as active recovery week I'm not totally sure what the science behind that is. I know it has to do with making sure your muscles have totally recovered and all the microtears that occur when you lift heavy have healed fully. If you don't let the muscle rest it hinders further weight training benefits. I did cardio and some yoga during the rest weeks. I think anything is okay as long as you avoid weights. I made the mistake of trying to do kettlebell workouts on my rest week (did that twice) and I regretted it. I could feel overtrained when I tried to do that (fatigue, excessive soreness, that "hit by a truck" feeling).

Ellie- I'm so sorry about all the stress in your life right now!:( I hope it comes to an end soon for you. You've had your fill of sickness and stress for awhile now! Don't worry, Cathe and this forum will be waiting for you when you can get back some semblance of a normal routine! :)

Jen- I saw that picture on facebook you had called "the crazy cat lady's starter kid". Oh man, I laughed and laughed. That was cute!:D

Sarah- I hear you on the quality over quantity with food. Unfortunately, most people I go out to dinner with expect this humongous plate of food and if they don't get it they are ticked off. Forget about whether the food is to die for. I'm a total foodie and love really cool, nice or hip restraunts that serve exceptional food. That can be pretty hard to find around here. It's all steak houses, fast food and the like.

Gotta go. TTYL!

Good afternoon everyone :)

It's Mark's birthday today and so Bella and I are going to make him a cake (Betty Crocker lol. I can't bake ). She loves mixing and eating the batter and icing (ha ha so do I of course) and it's fun, even if it ends up looking and tasting like crap :(. We took a nice long walk down the side streets to the dollar store and pharmacy. At one point Bella asked of we were lost, as I was a bit unfamiliar with the route I had taken . I had originally gone in to get Mark a card, and of course I walked out with a s**t load of stuff for myself. In defense, I needed a new mascara, and then I saw this new cosmetic line that was very inexpensive and so I figured what the heck, might as well get a new eye shadow, concealer pan and clear mascara too  :D

Today's w/o is Turbo Barre, or should I call it Turbo Fire Thighs & Buns. Good stuff!

Ellie
I'm so sorry about all the health problems going on with your son and husband. My sympathies and prayers are with you and your family. I hope your life gets back to normalcy soon. Hang in there!
Colleen

Turbo Tower!!!!
Way to go girl!! I'm SO happy for you!! We can be joyful together now :).
Sarah
Yay on the 2lbs! And great willpower on only having one piece of cake. Desserts are a weakness for me too. I've learned to take a small piece though because I know I will feel like crap afterwards, and I hate that. It's hard though, I understand. But I will never say no to dessert EVER. I just can't live like that.
How is your daughter BTW? I hope everything calmed down a bit.
Jen
I'm sorry about your lack of sleep. You probably have so much on your mind. I think your decision was for the best. Hope you had a restful and relaxing day today. How is the weather there?

Have a great day ladies :)

Good afternoon friends.
Yes, the crazy lady starter kit is available at most any barnyard in MI or Humane Society.
Only two are enough for me.
Colleen-CONGRATS on your tower!!! You will love it. Great for the bench pressing with STS and turbo barre.
Sarah-second Natty, I missed this the first time. CONGRATS on the two lbs. and only having one piece of cake.
Natty-Four or five hours of sleep only to have Madrid, my cat, INSIST that I get up is crazy. My decision was based on my internship company only now exists in name only since she is an employee of another, I was over my hours and not getting paid too.

Using a new app on my Droid/smartphone called Lose It!! It's a calorie counter. I put in my goal weight and it gives a daily allowence of calories of 1470. I have over 800 left still. This might explain why I got Vertigo. Doing STS, I will have to increase my intake.

The weather here is rainy and not too cold. this morning was chilly.

Good morning gals :)

Yesterday's w/o was TB with my Tower . I'm not sure if it was just my imagination, but I swear that workout just "feels" better with the Tower and the bar at just the right height. I was able to complete most of those insane leg lifts without a break, which for me is a HUGE improvement. Again, I'm not sure if it was me getting stronger or the aid of the Tower. I am in love with that workout. The burn I get in my butt and thighs is like no other. In my eyes, Turbo Barre is a masterpiece :).

BBL! Have a great day :)

Thank God its Friday. Using my Lose It!app from my phone. If it gets nicer out I may go for a walk or do something else from LIS. I ate pizza for lunch and the app is a reality shocker.
Natty. Glad you love the barre
Congrats on doing so well.

Just a quick check in that I gotta get going!

I did Cardio Core Circuit, express premix today. It's a much easier workout when you just do the drills once! It's still a good sweat in just 34 minutes, though! I wish she'd make more cardio only, somewhat shorter, workouts without equipment. Sometimes you just want a quick cardio blast, get in and out without the fuss of dragging stuff out.

I can NOT wait to get my tower! I'm excited to try it with TurboBarre, too. Maybe I'll like that one even more with the tower! ;) I still haven't told Mark that I got it yet...
I also have the altus 20 lb adjustable weight vest coming. :) That's going to make some of the heavy weight leg workouts easier. Sometimes it's hard on my forarms to grip those heavy dumbells for squats and lunges in Meso 2 legs!

Oh Sarah, I forgot to congratulate you on the two pounds too! Congratulations! Sweets aren't so much a problem for me as salty chips or nachos, pizza,...and cheese, and wine and... Heh. But hey, I can resist that cake or cookie! ;)

Okay, this post turned out longer than I intended...I really do have to get going! Have a great Friday everyone!

Colleen-you will LOVE your tower and weighted vest. I used my tower all thru STS. I didnt use the weighted vest till Cycle 3 last year. I am surprised Cathe hasn't used the vest in other series.
From my reality of my new phone app, I decided not to walk cause it's cold and rainy here in MI, north of my house its snowing a couple of inches, so I am going to do AT.
Although, TB is always my first workout in the series.

Happy Friday everyone :)

Today was a lovely 2 hour outing around the neighborhood. Bella and I went to the park, Nancy's Health Food & Bulk, and lastly Mr.Sub to pick up a yummy ham & turkey sandwich. I really feel incredible lucky that I can walk that distance, up & down hills with a 30lbs child in a stroller and not feel winded or fatigued. I think if more people walked, obesity would be reduced drastically.

Tonight's w/o is MMA Boxing. I have to help my cousin move tomorrow and then a wedding shower Sunday. My w/e is booked!

Colleen
I should try the CCC premix. I kinda' hate the repetition of the exercises within the circuits. I wished Cathe would have done all different exercises to make that w/o less dreadful. But regardless it's a wonderful kick a** cardio without equipment which I love. I wish she would also make more of those (but NO repetition!).
The tower should come in 1-2 days right? Mine came in 2 days!!! I was not prepared.
I am also thinking of getting a vest. I can definitely squat and lunge w/heavier weight, it's the problem of getting my barbell on/off and also the weights hurting my hands.
Jen
I'm glad I don't have a smartphone. It would rule my life. I like to keep things simple when I'm "out" and that means leaving all technology behind.

Hope everyone has a great w/e. I might not be able to post until Sunday evening.

Bye bye!

Natty, when I walk I don't have my phone. There are days I don't use technologies. The lose it app will help lose weight. I dont want it to rule me either.
Did AT though. Good to be back with it.

Hello girls!
This morning little Ricky woke up pretty early to ask for milk...I could not sleep anymore. So just right now I'm enjoying the peace and stillness of the house...And decided to have some "me time";)

Oh congrats to you guys about your new pieces of equipment! I'm green with envy!!!:D Now I want to buy my new weights/barbell as soon as possible, even if DH hasn't finished to clean/free our basement from old stuff.I fear I will buy them and go to the basement to workout even if the works are still in progress, otherwise I will never take advantage of the perfect climate of the basement now that summer is approaching and working out here upstairs is really challenging because of the heat. Luckily enough, this year we're experiencing a pretty cold spring, so muggy weather is not bothering me so far!

Colleen:

When I choose that CCC premix I feel like cheating because it seems to me that I don't "work work" as hard as usual :D I agree with you and Nat and wish that Cathe had more "plain cardio" dvds and sometimes with less repetitions, when I'm striving for the last set I tell to myself " hey..she's the boss, she must know what's what!:)" and then I add, mentally "I can do anything for 30 seconds" ...:D

Natty

So happy for your Tower! And how about your wedding shower? Did you go for clothes shopping for the event? I totally understand you when you talk about walking up and down and pushing the stroll without feeling winded, this was one of the first benefits I had from working out with Cathe and it made me feel so strong and healthy!

Sarah

Congrats on your 2 pounds, way to go girl! And what a good job with the sweets! I can't resist almost anything...My philosophy is a little bit of everything, be it salty or sweet : I can do best with portion control than with skipping something that makes my mouth water!
And juts to answer to your old question, no, my new job won't allow me to stay at home at the weekend. I hope it will be so in the next years, but just right now my boss told me bluntly that this possibility is not realistic due to the depatment needs. I hope things will improve in the years, I will strive to make things going in that sense ;)

Jen

You made me smile because of your love for your smartphone...My DH and son are so in love with their gizmos that I can't tell you! I recognize they're pretty useful, but they're not for me even if I fear that in a couple of years I will have one of those in my bag as well. How do you feel now that your internship is over?

Got to go know, have a wonderful weekend!

Sorry forgot to ask one important question: how about Power hour? I was really tempted about that video, I like the music an awful lot!
I really trust your opinion guys, you made me buy Travel fit also for myself and really love that workout! I think it will be on my schedule for today, as I'm still a bit fatigued and not ready for tougher things yet, but I need to shake stiffness off my body! Thank you in advance for your feedbacks!

Ellie-I don't own Power Hour although many do on OD forum. DebbieH may have it, she was in CycleMax. TF is a great workout although I never had taken it with me traveling yet. Happy my internship is over and the program will be soon. Ready to move on. Although, I am more comfortable with the ppl in my group.
Natty-walking is a great workout. Yes, obesity would reduce drastically if more ppl walked.
Colleen-Thank You for liking my post on FB for AT. A few of my friends are runners but I think many are guilty for not taking care of their health when I post her workouts. But, after recovering from Vertigo and the flu, it's nice to do it. Hopefully, CSS Sunday night.

Today, I got an email from my power company. They dropped my gas/heat bill $27US so it will help pay my new phone bill. My new furnace with over 95% not going outside does help.
Tuesday afternoon, 3pmEST, I graduate from the program. Excited for it when it started and now ready for a job. Plus, I am positive about my job opps but no hunting today.
My new phone helps me figure out calories I can eat. When I was working out 5 times a week, I never counted. With working out, I have to learn to eat 3 meals a day instead of just 2. Plus, I have GasBuddy for area fuel stations and Maps/GPS. The problem is for me I'm not used to the keyboard so lots of typing is not useful for me yet.

Have a GREAT Saturday!!

Ellie I hope you experience calm in your life soon. In particular with health issues for your son. That hurts as a Mom. Hows your bew position at work going?

Jen- I just gota i-phone I will have to see about the app that you have been using. I let my Cathe Nutrition run out.

I went on after your post Colleen about the STS tower and it was already gone. It's probably for the best.

How did the cake turn out Nat? I hope you guys had a nice time celebrating his b-day. Do you guys get to celebrate it alone now?

My daughter is still refusing to take hot lunch at school and asked if I could take her to the store to buy the yarn she needed for a school project and I said no. We have decided we will pay the kids for good behavior. 1 dollar a day, if they are good for 7 they will get a bonus of an even 10. The flip side is there will be no warnings. They will also be asked to do little chores throughout the week. If they really have a bad day, they will have to pay me money instead. This sounds awful now that I'm typing it. The idea of paying for good behavior. But my daughters care about money when they earn it, and I needed to find something they care about.

Yesterday I did 50 min. on the treadmill (an easy jog) I was feeling a little sore in the quads and then I went to Zumba for fun. Today I'm suppose to do Step Blast but I haven't learned it yet : (
So I think I will do Imax 2 instead.

Sarah
