Saturday, I received my workout from CeciFit, whom lives in Toronto. It is Cardio Kickbox Challenge. I believe it's advanced, I could check Collage Video. Plan to do something Cathe next week too.
 
Today was Afterburn! I so lurve that workout! I swear, I can literally feel the fat melt off me when I do that one! I'm getting better and better with it, too. I didn't have to pause the dvd very often this time. I had to twice for a quick drink (she doesn't give you any time for that hardly!) and once to run to the ladies room:eek:. That's one thing about a road trip that scares me (other than the fact I'd have to workout in shoes)...what happens if you need to "go"? The pause button is my friend sometimes!

That's too bad about the tower Sarah. I swear I went on there and it was suddenly available so I immediately pressed buy. Then when I went back to check a few minutes later it was out of stock again. Maybe I got the last one? I would keep checking the site though. I guess maybe they just got a few in and can't keep them in stock so hopefully they'll get a few more in soon. Don't worry about using money to get the kids to behave. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! We used the allowance thing with Dylan and it worked for awhile but he's still pretty young yet to appreciate money so it kind of went by the wayside. We'll probably revisit it when he's older. Unfortunately I find myself pulling "a mom" (my mom) and using guilt to get them to do what I want sometimes. Boy, that does look awful when you type it...:eek::confused:

Jen- you are going to like Cardio Kickbox Challenge I think. I had that one and actually traded it only because I didn't find myself reaching for it and the impact was pretty high in some spots. It's still a good workout...I sort of regret getting rid of it.

Ellie- I don't have Power Hour so I'm afraid I'm no help there! That's so funny about the CCC premix feeling like cheating. :p It does, sort of, but it's nice to just get that quick cardio in. I have a hard time fitting in a workout when I work early on Mondays and Fridays. Quite often I take those as my rest days just for that reason. However, since I had taken 3 days off in a row due to the conference I figured I could squeeze that one in to get that 5th day workout week in! I get really ornery if I can't get at least 5 days in, although sometimes life just intervenes!:cool:

Colleen-Afterburn is a great workout. Yes, I feel the fat melting off of me too or sweating off.
Sarah-I would contact corporate or contact us on the website to find out what is happening. Not sure if I;ve seen it on Dunhams or Sports Authority, where I got my new step two years ago.
Ellie-Premixes, except for 4DS, I am like I'm cheating. I did Tri-set premix and I felt like I didn't even workout, didn't feel right. It was express combo.

My Lose It! App says I'm over calories b/c I ate Burger King. I felt like I needed to eat BAD. Today, I'm over but the past few days, I have calories to spare. I think the paid applications might be better but this one was rated well. Sunday, I plan to do CSS after brunch.
 
I'm just not ment to have the Turbo Tower and thats Ok beause I just don't have the room, really.

Today I was feeling sooooo motivated. I got up and did Muscle Max then went to Zumba. It's suppose to be 73 today and I gonna take a walk with the dog also.

Things do sound so different once you put them in print. I am also going to stop the nagging about the typical brushing teeth, room, dirty laundry. If they dont brush their teeth then they will have bad breath and their fiends wont want to talk with them. They will learn on their own.

I liked Muscle Max alot. That older school of DVD the burn gets to be really intense with the low pulse squats and the maxing out with the reps. I failed to do all of them with shouldesr and biceps. At one point I wasn't very nice to Cathe.

Say, I was thinking about how you guys were saying it would be nice to have a cardio only workout that didn't repeat the drills. I was thinking, you know what would be an awesome workout? If you could combine Afterburn and Cardio Supersets so that you alternated between the drills of each, doing each set of exercises just once. That way the workout would be the same length and similar in style (with the metabolic conditioning and weights used for extra cardio effect), but you'd never repeat the exercises. I bet there's a way you could do that with the Workout Blender. Of course, being technologically challenged and not knowing how to download videos and use that feature I'll probably never do it. Just a thought for you download ladies!;)
 
Suggest it to Cathe, I think it's a great idea.

Job hunt-done for now. Grocery shop-next. Brunch with friend-before noon. Nap and workout later on then get ready for the last two days of my program. Carpooling is messed up so I may be driving solo both days. Big party/network Thursday night.
My workout SHOULD be CSS but that could change to Low Max ( I LOVE this workout).

The weather is beautiful. It will be another nice one today too. The kids and I did take the dog for a walk yesterday. Although, we only made it 2 miles because Sam (the dog) thought she was dying from heat exhaustion. She does this when the weather reaches 70.

Today is rest day (yippee). I will still take the dog on a walk though. I found out she has tape worms (insert vomit face hear). When I had cats they would get them every 2 years or so. But this is the first time Sam has had them. Insert another vomit face.

Maybe grocery shopping as well is in my future, since we have no milk.

Well, I did Body Max 2 today and I have to say I liked it a lot. Much better than the first time I owned it! I still messed up several parts and had to do the rewind thing quite often but I nailed a lot of moves I struggled with before. I think it's a combination of having the new step, doing it on 6 inches instead of 8 (which is what Cathe does but when I lowered it I did a lot better) and getting familiar with Cathe's choreo and style.
Natty- I kept thinking about you during this one!:) You would totally love BM2, IIRC, you said you didn't have it yet right? This is totally the type of step routine you would enjoy.

I was going to do the whole workout but I pooped out at about 55 minutes on the cardio and skipped the last combo. That is a LONG workout! I was going to do the upper body weights section but my stupid ball is low on air and my pump is broken so I have to buy a new one. You can not find a replacement pump for those stability balls! I did the upper body only section of PUB minus the warm up and abs instead.

Sarah- I've been known to curse at the tv and Cathe sometimes, too. ;) For me it's usually when I'm tripping over my feet with the step choreography. Grrr. I'm slowly picking some of those moves up though!

I better get something useful done...this day has pretty much revolved around my working out :eek:.

Just got done with CSS, I skipped the mt climbers and the one thing at end doing a plank and moving your legs one side then the other. I figured I would cut myself some slack since I haven't worked out in awhile. Wednesday may be TB or Low Max. My Lose It! app is generous with aerobic workouts but not "sexual activity,"
Colleen-BMX2 is a tough workout, congrats on getting through the combos you didn't before. Yes, Natty would like this one. Found it, 90 minute commitment. It's the high impact version of LIC almost. I do that one when I have time and no other pressures to zone in on it. The power circuits are crazy.
Sarah and Colleen-I curse at Cathe too. Usually after I tell she is crazy.
Nice day here kinda cool. Western NY is getting snow like northern MI has lately.

Monday-first day of debriefing of group experience. Tuesday-more for most of the day then GRADUATION.
Good news, the guy whom owns the company that my internship host company requested to follow me on Twitter. One more person to network with.
 
Good morning everyone!

2 days and I feel like I've missed SO much! I'll do my best to respond to your posts.

My w/e was super busy. My cousin moved Sat and then Sun was their wedding shower. I'm a bit upset that they are choosing to have this wonderful wedding ceremony on a cruise, and I can't attend :(. It was just too expensive w/flight to Miami. They suggested we drive to Florida :confused:, but I was like "ya, no way with this restless kid!". I would seriously consider killing myself. I don't have a kid that plays nicely in the car since birth. Anyway, once they come back from their cruise they are having a Catholic ceremony here at a church and a small lunch buffet afterwards (Bella is the flower girl!!!). So I'm happy I can attend that. I just hate passing up traveling opportunities...I get super jealous :mad:.

Yesterday I came home from the shower (which was lovely BTW. Food was top-notch) and rushed to do Muscle Max. Rockin' workout! How the heck does Cathe do ALL those damn push-ups??!! Here I am on the floor crying like a baby and she's just pushin' along! I HATE HER ;). Needless to say I have some nice DOMS today. I pushed pretty hard yesterday, trying to match Cathe, and I was able to in everything except Biceps and push-ups.

I read your idea about the Afterburn and CSS pre-mix and smiled. I tried that! The funny thing about the blender is that's it's very glitchy with multiple workouts, just booting me off or freezing when I try to complete the finished product. I tried literally 10X and said f-that! I was SO angry. That would be a great workout too. I'll try yet again...
BM2 [sigh]. Yup, I want it bad. I was thisclose to downloading it Friday. I'm so happy you are trying the more complex step stuff. 4inch, 6inch, 8inch, whatever, step is HARD! I'm proud of ya!
That tower was meant to be yours. Talk about luck! When it's meant to be, it usually happens. When you get that baby put together, do a few pull-ups for me. Man those make you feel like Linda Hamilton from Terminator 2.

You seem to be doing so well with your workouts. Are you liking the rotation? I feel kinda' responsible since I found it for you lol ;).
Great job on your amazing Zumba and MM day! Holy workouts! I agree, MM makes you swear at Cathe a lot. She is not human!
I hope things are going well with the girls.
I'm sorry about your dog having tape worms. Is she ok? Do they take medication for that?

You sound like you are getting pretty comfortable with your phone and new app. It's really cool how you can use the apps to do such helpful things like tracking calories (or playing Angry Birds :D). Funny about the "sexual activity" calorie expenditure. Hmmm...I was under the impression that burned as much as CCC lol.
How are your workouts from Ceci?
Great job on tackling CSS. That one is hard too but kinda' like a "friendlier" version of Afterburn. The plank work is HARD. I'm happy you are able to start workout out again and feeling better. Are you excited for STS? I am. I'm glad we can do it together and discuss our 3 month journey. I'm confident but a little apprehensive. At least I have support here, so I'm happy about that.

Nat that is so weird you said that about Linda Hamilton. When I saw that movie I was 18 and saw her doing those chin-ups and her muscles. I thought she was a bad ass and wanted to be able to do that too.

I think part of the reason I was swearing so much at Cathe during MuscleMax because I was trying to match her. But just couldn't for Biceps and shoulders. There is always next time : )

Jen you made me laugh so hard about the tracking activity with sexual activity. I am learning my phone, I did download the Cathe app, and angry birds (for the kids), and a pedometer. I am trying to decide if I want to track calories again or not.

I love Bodymax 2 as well but I only do the cardio portion. As I remember the upperbody is compound exercises? I prefer not to do compound exercises because I feel like I cant focus on the muscle group I'm working on. I could be wrong though. Maybe I need revisit that part. It's on the rotation that I'm doing.

I do really like the rotation that I am on and like that it is only a month commitment. So I already am thinking about the next one.

My husband is asking if I want to do 10 min trainer with him. I'm kind of not wanting to. I cerntainly would never be able to just do that. I would have to do it in addition to my rotation, and walk or zumba. That might be going overboard but it is only 10 min. The chick he has doing the exercises makes noises that sound like sex noises to me and it makes me laugh.

Colleen I'm glad your liking step better this time around. My rule of thumb is not to judge any workouts after doing it once I make myself do it 2-3 times before I form opinions. However, I have only done Itensity 2 times.

I have to call the vet to get a pill for her and thats it. Pretty easy.

Yesterday I didn't walk afterall. I did however go grocery shopping, Yuck.

Natty it's so good to have you back!:D That's too bad you can't go to your cousins wedding. Mark and I were married in Key West and I know lots of people were disappointed they couldn't go. I told Mark initially I just wanted it to be us and we'd do a reception when we got back but it snowballed into a bunch of family that ended up coming along. The sucky part was that his sister and brother couldn't afford to go and I still feel bad about that.:( That's too bad the workout blender is glitchy like that! Hopefully SNM will be able to fix that in the future so it runs more smoothly. They say the way of the future is to have everything go to downloads instead of making DVD's so it's probably just a matter of time before everything is up to speed. I always get nervous when people talk about the demise of the dvd though...I'm too technologically challenged to deal with all digital!:eek:

Sarah- I totally loved Linda Hamilton in T2! I thought she had the most awesome bod in that movie. I'm totally going to be picturing her when I try to do my pull ups on the tower now!:eek: That's funny how you mentioned you tried to match Cathe on the biceps and shoulders and struggled because I did the same thing yesterday with PUB. For me it was the biceps and chest, I was trying to match her and I totally should have lowered the weight because my form was terrible but I pushed on anyway. I was being stubborn.:eek: I can't imagine working out to a woman who sounded like she was making sex noises. That drives me crazy when I have to listen to any instructor on a dvd who sounds even remotely like that. I get grossed out immediately and turn it off!:confused: It's like, okay lady, I'll take my porn and exercise separately thank you very much!!:rolleyes: LOL

Jen- Congratulations on doing CSS! I have that one on tap for either tomorrow or Wednesday. I was planning on Paul Katami's Hollywood 4x4 bootcamp tomorrow and CSS Wed but I may switch them depending on how my knees feel. They always feel a little tweaky after a step workout. I've found I need to limit step to once a week, I think. I have the Low Max one and have yet to try it. Is it really tough choreography wise or is it more straightforward? I seem to be able to handle (most) of the stuff in BM2, Athletic Step and Intensity...and some of IMAX2. Is it similar to those or is it more complex to make up for the lack of impact?
Man, I can't believe people are getting snow right now. What the heck is going on with the weather patterns this year? Crazy, I tell ya!

Going to keep this short and will be in more detail on Wednesday. CSS was great, I did the crap crawlers and I could problably do military push ups for one section but I didn't.
Excited about graduation, some of the facilitators were not happy with one comment I made. I thought it's important that a mentor, participant of a previous session of the program, be employed. Thursday night, I will see him and explain after my sickness my life was still crazy. My internship host keeps calling me for projects to see if I will do them. I turned her down. Visiting a business during the busiest times of the month for them is not kosher.
Wednesday now might be TB, LM or low impact challenge.
My calories have been blown today so I will give them similiar calories and deal with it. Bumme on the sexual activity. Although, I'm sure diff apps have diff counts for it.
On my phone, I have Cathe, Realtor.com, Sudoko, Lose It!, Dictionary, Maps, GasBuddy, Bible and Kayak.

Yesterday's w/o was Hardcore Extreme hi/lo intervals (Imax3+LowMax+kickmax). What a butt kicker :eek:. I love that one. I don't have LowMax, so doing the few step combos and blasts from it, really entice me to purchase it. LowMax, BM2, Gym Style, all on my want list. The downloads are 20% off hmmm...
I'm feeling some great DOMS, especially in the back area. Muscle Max never disappoints :).
SNOW here :mad: WTH??? No wonder the geese are so angry (that's not a joke BTW. I read an article and they really are aggressive because of the weird weather of hot/cold weeks).

10min Trainer? Is that a joke? You know what, good for him, something is better than nothing. I'm trying to get mine to go back to the gym too. He seemed happier when he was lifting weights. Sex noises? LOL!! Now you made me want to check it out! That would distract the heck out of me!
What kind of rotation are thinking of doing next? Another endurance based one? I think you might like the one I'm on right now. It's a hidden gem within the rotations.

When you decide to do a destination wedding, it always disappoints the people who can't go unfortunately. I wanted to get married in the Caribbean, but then my grandmother could not attend and I really wanted her there.
Perhaps my next marriage...;)

Hello ladies!

Today was Cardio Supersets. I'm so grateful Cathe made the LIS series! It's so nice to balance out the high impact while still keeping up the intensity. Tomorrow will be Paul Katami's Hollywood Bootcamp 4x4. Anyone else have that one? Oh how I love Paul!:p The word on VF is that he's going to be filming a new workout pretty soon, too!:D YAY!

My right knee felt a little tweaky after BM2 on Sunday. I think part of the issue with step and my knees is that I'm fumbling around trying to learn these routines and my form gets compromised. I twist and turn my knees in ways that I shouldn't. Plus, I had Lydia and my two little nieces coming in and out of the bedroom while I was working out. We had the girls stay over this weekend and it was a wee bit distracting having them watch me, and my form would disintegrate every time they were in the room! It was so much fun for Lydia, though. They are all about the same age (between 4 and 5 years old). At one point, when I got to PUB and weights they decided that all 3 of them were going to work out with me and they started digging through all my stuff...they even found the 2 and 3 lb dumbells that I hardly use anymore and showed me their muscles!:eek: Luckily, they were so cute I was able to grin and go with it.;)

Sarah- like Natty said, at least your hubby is interested in doing something fitness related! Progress! Pretty soon you can subtly encourage him to go 20 min, then 30. Actually, don't discount the 10 minute workouts to get someone started. I actually started out with the 10 minute solution dvds and it was all I could get myself to do at first. Mostly, it was a way to practice getting up earlier and committing to morning fitness. Once I found the habit I was able to build and build until finally I became a Cathlete! I just wish I could get Mark to get back into working out. He's doing more biking lately though and we're starting to go on a few walks now that the weather is getting nicer. I know he'd probably do better in a gym rather than lifting weights at home, it's just convincing him to join one. He's pretty good at making up excuses as to why he wouldn't be able to find the time to go, though:rolleyes:.

Natty- I would definitely recommend BM2 for you rather than the other ones for now. Well, Low Max I'm not sure since I haven't done yet even though I own it... but I KNOW you would love BM2! The Gym Styles could probably wait now that you have STS. Alot of people recommend doing those dvds as a cheaper alternative to STS so they are sort of similar style wise.

So funny about the porn and fitness kept seperate.

LoMax will be easier for you to learn, it's a little more dancy choreography but she teaches one step at a time and builds on from there. I really like this one.

I watched my hubby workout out to day for 10 min and when he was through he said he felt like vomitting. I was proud of him. He just doesn't have enough time to commit to anything more than that. I did a little of the ab disc and it was hard for 10 min. I think I will be using using this one also.
I figure if he does this 5-6 days a week and walks and does jogging intervals 3 days a week with me, he should be good to go.

Congrats Jen on graduating! I think this will be a good stepping stone that will show potential employers that you still are willing to learn and change. Thats always a good thing, plus you started something and completed it as well.


I can't decide whats next on the rotation circuit. Maybe Lower Body. Maybe circuits? What is the one you are on now Nat?

I would love to go to Disney as well. But none of my kids are interested. : ( They much rather go to a ghost town or Boston. As long as they have good food thats fine with me however, Boston is too expensive.

Today was STS # 7 and my biceps are feeling tighter that ever.

I'm trying to figure out my rotation w/STS, as I would like to include a total body circuit workout. I like to work all body parts at least twice/week (especially legs!) and STS has me doing it only once :(. Do you guys think that would be enough? Please look at my rotation. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

STS rotation sample

Day 1- STS M1 D1 (UB)
Day 2- STS M1 D3 (legs)
Day 3- STS M1 D2 (UB)
Day 4- Cardio (steady state)
Day 5- Total Body Circuit (AT, S&G, TB, HE Circuit Intervals, Supreme 90-Day Total Body, JM NMTZ, JM Shed & Shred, JM 30-Day Shred, JM Ripped In 30).
Day 6- Cardio (interval cardio or hiit)
Day 7 -REST REST REST or Yoga or Ultimate Ball (abs)

I want to include some non-Cathe into this rotation. I miss them :(. I have decided not to do the STS/Shock Cardio rotation. I'm already doing STS for 3 months, that's enough!

Me and another lady (Jennifer -- she is super, super nice) are doing this. She also likes it and has noticed more muscle definition.
When you feel like vomiting, that means you really pushed yourself hard. It's great that you are there to support Tristan, and of course lead by example. A couple that plays together stays together ;). Or so I've heard ;).

Yes, knee problems are common w/step, especially learning new choreo. Step Moves killed my right knee sometimes. Certain moves just get you the wrong way and then that's it. Once you get accustomed to the choreo, you won't have that problem as much.
Cute story about Lydia and her friend. Bella loves to curl the 3lbs! Where do they get that super strength??!!
Yup, I'm getting BM2 for my STS rotation. I can't take it anymore. I look at the clips and it's just too damn temping. Damn you ENABLERS! All of you!! :D

Oh yay! You're gonna love BM2! As far as your rotation I think the only thing I would do if it were me is switch day 3 and day 5 just to give my upper body a little more rest from the heavy weights. Of course, then you'd have two leg days back to back, although the circuit workouts aren't usually too bad and I can often do stuff like that back to back. If you didn't want that you could do the legs on day 1 and UB on day 2, then circuit day 3, steady state cardio day 4, second UB day 5, then Hiit or interval cardio day 6. That way there's enough separation between the muscle groups to get good recovery and you keep the weights and cardio balanced througout the week.
As far as Paul's newest so far it's just whispers on VF...;) I just tried friending him on facebook to get the latest updates but he doesn't have so much of a fan site it seems...it looked more like a personal site so he may think "who is this weirdo friending me??".LOL

Yay for tighter biceps Sarah!:D I was noticing that the other day too! I've never had arm muscles until now. It's so much fun! I can see them in the mirror when I work out and it makes me feel so good!

Natty- You may be surprised on this workout. I would try it the first week normal than make adjustments later. Two times a week for legs, depends on the rotation, it could happen.

My day. Job interview scheduled Monday via my new phone with email. Graduation day was great. Possible assist with a friend's job. Interesting conversation about an island that is landlocked in MI and one that isn't. If you're curious, do a google search on Plainwell MI (the island city) and Grosse Ile. Time to log my enormous calories from today on my app. Workout is desperately needed for Wed and Fri. Snow on Saturday and Sunday here, with all the City's plows put away, I may not leave the house on either day.
