We're In This Together **APRIL**

Ok, I fall on the cusp of Sagitarius and Capricorn. Yes to Yoga and walking. No to tennis, archery, horseback riding and running. Not enough exercise does make me ill. Don't really believe it in astrology although there some truths to it.

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday I had a nice bout of DOMS, especailly in the tricep and inner thigh area. I'm lovin' me some (lots) of that. I also got my Turbo Tower in the mail. I can't wait to try that sucker out. It's still in the box and Mark is going to put it together today. I was trying to show him how versatile it is, but he was less than enthusiastic .

My workout yesterday was Step Blast. Love, love, love it!! I wish Cathe would bring back some of the moves like 360, power ups, ect. I know most people seem to be requesting more athletic style choreo, but I actually enjoy the dancey moves (which to me are not so dancey, just harder to figure out).

Today is either Intensity or STS TB depending on what time my Tower gets put together.

Jen
Labatt's Blue is my fav beer too! I don't know of anyone who loves that beer. Small world.
The Astrology Chart is just for fun, although I was surprised how well it read me. The only thing conflicting is the running part, but I do Interval Cardio inside, so I guess that is sort of like running.
May 1st here we come!
Sarah
Yup, I have Yoga Meltown and love it! It's not a traditional, slow, I wanna blow my brains out type yoga (which I don't do BTW). It's more athletic, power yoga. You will sweat and get your HR up.
Perhaps you are right, maybe take 1 week off to rest/recover. Get the Jillian Yoga and do that. You'll still be burning lots of calories with levels 1 & 2 and you'll feel it in your muscles without even picking up a single dumbbell. BTW my FAV yoga is TBL Weight Loss Yoga. 2 thumbs up!!!
Colleen
Cool trick w/the kettle bell. What lbs are you using now?
MMA Boxing is awesome! I got weighted gloves and can't wait to try it with them. It's on my rotation in 1 week :). I'm lovin' this rotation. My fav so far.

Have a great day ladies :)

Good Morning Friends.
Natty-Thank you for posting that fun chart. It's fun to read. Well, if/when we ever meet, I bet we would eat well and drink a few Labatt's.
Colleen-MMA-Boxing is one workout I've never done but own it. I've done MMA-Fusion and kickboxing. Do you like Kettlebells?
Sarah-Never heard of the Yoga workouts mentioned. In college, I did astanga yoga which is internal muscle movement, you don't move your arms or legs though.
Hello Nikki, Amy and Ellie.

I got to try out my tower! What a great piece of equipment! I did 2, yes 2 full pull-ups (feet off the ground)!! STS TB tonight so I can really test drive this baby!!

BBL :)

Natty- yes, you will have fun and congrats on your two full push-ups. You will use it to put your barbells during STS to for lifting with the clips for it.
Nice day for a walk here so that is my workout.
peer group meeting is fine, the crazy person hasn't been there for the past 3 weeks and no one has mentioned her. we are actually having fun at the meetings.
Thursday should be yard day plus other stuff.
Still at peace, life is good.

Natty I'm so jealous of your turbo tower! I looked online today and it is backordered through WalMart, Amazon and Cathe's site!!:( It is on ebay right now but I'm so anxious about ebay. I've never bid on anything before! I remember when I went to Mexico in college I got all flustered when they expected me to barter for stuff. Just tell me the price dammit! Last year we went to the Dominican Republic and I had to have my niece barter for me...I just couldn't do it! Soooo...needless to say my mental roadblock for ebay means I'll have to wait until the tower is available again at the regular retailers!

I can't write too much as I have to get going but wanted to check in quick with my workout today. Athletic Training! Love that one! I always forget how hard that one is until I'm doing it.

Jen- I love kettlebells! I stick to mostly cardio based workouts though. I love swings of all kinds but I don't feel comfortable doing a turkish get up or several of the strength type moves. My heaviest bell right now is 25 lbs. I have Bob Harpers contour ones in 10, 15, and 20 which is so much nicer then a regular KB for snatches and cleans. The contour rests right into the groove of your arm and is a lot more comfortable. They are more expensive though, which is why I got a regular one when I went for a 25 lb bell.

Okay, I gotta go! Later ladies!

Good evening ladies :)

Turbo Tower is rockin'! I love the chest presses with my barbell and how I can finally lift heavier. I was able to do 45lbs, first set of 16's. The 2nd set of 12's, I felt fatigue squeezing in the last rep. I believe I accurately determined my 1RM for the majority of the exercises in STS TB. I'm really glad I picked this rotation to prepare me for STS in May.
Colleen
I'm confused, how can they be back-ordered? I was able to get one . The packaging even says "Fitness by Cathe". So weird. Have you tried Wal Mart Canada? It's $118.00 + shipping. Let me check something....BRB.
They have it in stock!!!! Perhaps you can call them and see if they can deliver it to the USA. I tried to put in a Wisconsin Zip Code to see the shipping cost but they want a Canadian Postal Code :(.
Jen
It's amazing how one person can put a damper on things. I'm happy for you that she's not there. A lot less stress.
Yard work is hard work! You burn lots of calories landscaping and it works your entire body.

Have a good night ladies :)

Good Morning.
Colleen-That is weird the tower is on back-order. The only time it was really in high-demand was when STS came out. AT is a great workout, all of them are really. Suprised Cathe hasnt done a kettlebell but maybe not her thing either. Yes, Yoga has about 20 different types, mine was Indian.
Natty-Congrats on your lifting! That is awesome, You will love your tower. It is amazing when one person isn't around. The environment is more fun.

Hoping to get outside in a few hours to do yard work, my yard is on a hill like shelves so it will be a workout plus I plan to walk as well.
Might start my next project today, I did a rough powerpoint yesterday but low priority.
Real job-jobs are coming through, maybe one is mine.

Good morning ladies :)

Colleen
Altus Athletic Altus Turbo Tower Holds up to 350 lbs NEW!! on eBay!
You can purchase it instead of bidding. It seems to be more expensive though.

http://living-xl.destinationxl.com/...997&itemAdded=true&ia=true&_requestid=1952008
Check this out too.

That is just SO weird. Is it really in such high demand there? I asked my other check-in if they know anywhere besides the usual Wal-Mart, Amazon and Ebay, that they might have it. Perhaps try asking in OD, you never know.

BBL!

Yesterday was suppose to be slide and glide, but I did Cardio Kicks for the 1st time instead. I liked it. I'm not a big kickboxing person, it's fine, but I don't love it.

I find myself wanting the turbo tower now also. I can't lift as heavy as I would without this piece of equipment. Especially for squats. I peter out at about 55 lbs being able to get it up and over the head mulitple times. But I just don't know where in the heck it would go. My FIL offered me all his weights yesterday . I would love to take them (they are very old school) but the rack for storage is probably 8ft long. Plus he has a bench and everything.

That is a perfect description of how I feel about Yoga. I want to blow my brains out. It's just so slow and boring, I'm like lets get on with it already. I didn't like the P90X one either it was difficult but, it was an hour and a half, thats just too long!

Today is TBT - Upper body and either a walk (depending on the weather) or Zumba. I bit the bullit and ordered cycling shoes. Now I just waiting.

Sarah

I feel so tired today! I think my allergies are kicking my butt. It's only been within the last 5 years that I've had spring issues and I haven't been to a doctor to get them diagnosed exactly. I always confuse the symptoms with a cold. Can you get a sore throat from allergies? Anyway, I feel yucky today.

I still worked out though! I was going to do Paul Katami Bootcamp 4x4 but that felt like too much so I did Cathe's Circuit Blast instead. I like that one because it's short and sweet at 44 minutes. Even though it was short I still ended up having to skip the cool down and stretch at the end to get Dylan on the bus. That's a bad habit I've been developing lately. Not only have I gotten away from doing yoga but now I'm even skipping the cool down stretch! That can't be good for me!

I checked out the links Natty, Thanks! I think I'm going to hold off and hope that the backorder is temporary though. I should've gotten it from WalMart when I could've gotten it for $97 with free shipping site to store. Darn it. I can't bring myself to pay $41 more...yet. We'll see, hopefully it comes back to WalMart or Amazon soon! Maybe I should post on Ask Cathe?

Jen- I would soooo love it if Cathe came out with a kettlebell workout but I did read somewhere that she isn't a fan of them.:( I've noticed she is sort of using the dumbells in a kettlebell fashion in some of the drills so maybe she'll warm up to at least some KB lite action? I would so love it if she did something like Paul's Burn and Build...a light KB with a high step in a circuit workout would be so much fun from Cathe!

It's so funny what you guys are saying about yoga because I used to love slower paced yoga with long holds but now I get totally impatient with it! Once in a while I'll be in the mood for it but lately I just want to sweat and get moving! Maybe someday I'll feel like dialing down the intensity for awhile and switch gears to more yoga type stuff again. We'll see...never say never. These days, I'm so totally addicted to high intensity and Cathe! Nothing has made me feel so strong and powerful. I'm doing workouts I never would have dreamed I was even capable of a few years ago. I think that's why people get so passionate about Cathe...she makes you feel like a warrior!:D

Speaking of awesome strong chicks...CONGRATULATIONS on your pull ups Natty!

Later girls!

Hello Friends,
Yes, my lawn has been a workout today b/c the grass is long and is damp. I had problems starting my mower, almost gave up, then I let it rest and it started. Now, the cord appears locked. Sears has a thing called My Community, a forum to discuss issues with stuff you buy there and it saves money too.
Plan to head to Detroit area, where I grew up, on the island on May 5th. Possible issues to get on the island is the walleye fishermen and the home tours. Google Grosse Ile. Very unique place to grow up, at least till 9th grade.
Colleen-You may not get a sore throat from allergies but you can get swollen glands which makes your throat feel sore. If swallowing feels tight, your glands are swollen.
Natty-have fun with that tower!

Unusual day today. Next thing with the program is a resume review mixer much like the mock interview so I will be leaving more confused than before. Possibly 10 different opinions on a resume, I might skip it.

I assume it's a push mower. I'm sorry, especially since you have hills in your yard. Mine is a riding lawn mower because we have so much grass and I still hate it. I can't wait till the kids are old enough to drive it. Then it will totally be their job.

Yes you can get a sore throat from allergies. It's because of all that wonderful mucus draining into your throat. As well as what Jen said. Sorry. Allergies meds make me sleepy too so I take mine at night since I'm getting ready to sleep anyway. It doesn't seem to make me anymore tired in the morn.

I changed my mind. I didn't do TBT/UB today. Instead I chose Pyramid Upper Body and Oh how sore am I gonna be tomorrow. It's been a long time since I've done that one. My arms have nothing left. How am I gonna unload all those groceries after I go shopping? Oh well, I had my priorities in line.

Sarah

my lawn is finally fiinished, a 20 minute job turned into 3 hours due to complications but it looks alot better.
Plan to walk after Anthony Bourdain is done. Meeting on Friday.
Sarah-Yes, PUB is more important than groceries. Growing up, my brothers always cut the grass so not used to it plus I had a lawn service when I was employed.
BBL, Need to get rid of WeTopia from FB.

Hello ladies :)

Just sipping a glass of rose wine while Mark makes yummy BBQ. You gotta live sometimes :D.

Today's workout was Afterburn premix, since I was hurried to go to the park. I have come to the conclusion that using weights during cardio to get the HR up is not my most preferred method. I would much rather do plyo or traditional jumping jacks, high knee's, even dare I say Tuck Jumps . I do however LOVE Athletic Training and using weights on my step.

Sarah
You are too funny! I hear so many awesome things about Pyramid UB/LB. Yet another addition to my growing collection...
I'm pretty impressed you being able to lift a 55lbs barbell over your head for squats! I have a hard time with 35lbs! You are STRONG!
Colleen
Really crappy about the tower. I have a hard time understanding how a Fitness by Cathe product is not available through her own website but through other retailers . Now that I own it, I have to say it was a wise investment and not a piece of equipment that I'm going to regret (lol Pilates Ring anyone?). Once you get it, I assure you, you will fall in love with it.
Mark has year round allergies and yes, he said his throat feels itchy, scratchy and sore, especially in the mornings. I am now developing allergies for the first time in my life with a runny nose in the mornings. It sucks.
BTW, I have not done a cool down in probably 8-12 months. I bail every time.
Jen
Hope you have a good time in Detroit. I will Google the place you mentioned. I love Google Maps and Google Earth! I always "visit" cool places like Dubai and Madagascar. I'm fascinated with the world. I hope to resume traveling again as it has always been a passion of mine.

Have a good night everyone :)

Natty-I plan to visit May 5th. Only 4 hours from Toronto area. Me too, I would like to visit Dubai to go skiing in the mall and Macau, Singapore and Hong Kong. Plus, helicopter skiing at Whistler/Banff. What are gas prices like near you? Enjoy the wine!! It is healthy for you.
Colleen-I also don't cool down, I do my own stretches as well unless I had a crappy day then my boys see me on the floor so they join me.
Sarah-You have me thinking I should do that workout before May 1st.

Today, from my internship host company, I have the possibility to meet someone who may want to hire me as a project manager but that would include problably projects for the marketing firm I'm interning with now. Not going to quit job hunting.
My workouts today was first mowing my wet, heavy grass for my lawn then walking for 40 minutes. The first few mowings I think of owning a condo, which I plan to sell and to buy one after the job thing works out. If it has a sunroom, Seville and Madrid will be happy.
Happy it's almost Friday although I must do internship work over the weekend so I don't get wiped out with it next weekend and next week. Need time to job hunt and walk.
Good news,I am done with Wetopia. Yes!!!

Well, I will be going out of town this weekend so I won't get to chat with you girls until Sunday night. I do get your posts sent to my Blackberry via my email so I'll get to read those to stave off the withdrawal!

Today I'm planning on doing one of my kettlebell workouts. I feel better than yesterday with the allergies. I took a benadryl before bed last night and that seems to have helped a little.

That's so funny how so many people skip the cool down! It seems to be a "dirty little secret" that a lot of people do that! I used to be really good and I actually love the stretching at the end. I used to stretch even more after the dvd was over. I just don't have the time anymore! I seem to have a lot less patience then before, too! I just want to get it done and get going! LOL

Natty- I enjoy plyometrics too but I also love using weights to get the heart rate up. I like to do a little of both throughout the week. I will say, though, I have a tough time with traditional jumping jacks. Not to be TMI, but I have a little (ahem) pelvic floor issue since having the kids! I had heard the rebounder was supposed to help with that but I still feel like I have to run to go pee multiple times during a workout with lots of jumping! Ah, aging stinks!

Sarah- I love PUB! It's funny because I still haven't gotten around to doing the lower body part of that one. I have so many virgin workouts! I really need to make a list and just work my way through all of the ones I haven't done that are just sitting there. I'm sure there are lots of gems I'm missing out on!

Jen- I always make Mark mow the lawn. I think if I lived by myself I'd go back to apartment living or live in a condo where the condo association takes care of the lawn and shovels the sidewalk in the winter. I just hate doing that stuff! Mark always wants me to do more yard stuff and plant all kinds of pretty flowers but it never happens. The most I do outside is plant a vegetable garden in the backyard. I like that because at least I'm getting food out of the deal! ;)

Have a great weekend ladies!

Hello Friends.
Today, meeting with internship, we are partnering with another company where I could end up full time plus doing mulitiple duties and get paid well for it. Now, I need to process it and think about how this will all work out. The job satisfaction will be there but finances must be in order. Time will tell.
Tomorrow, walking and working.
BBL

Jen

Good evening :)

Today was such a lovely day. I went to get Bella's hair cut, which is a very big thing considering it was her 2nd hair cut in 3yrs. She was bald up until she turned 1 :). She looks like a cutie. We then went to this very pretty provincial park (we go there often in the summer) to feed the geese/ducks/chipmunks bread and play in the newly renovated park. There is a beautiful ravine and trail where you can bike/walk/roller blade. The city in which this park is located is called Newmarket, and it's officially the 24th best place in Canada to live. The residents are super friendly, the city is very clean, everyone seems happy, healthy and fit. This park I go to has seniors, YES seniors, RUNNING!!! What a beautiful sight for the eyes. Men/woman/children biking. I have even seen people doing push-ups off to the side on the grass. It's pretty amazing.

It's TTOTM for me, and I'm feeling very tired. Despite wanting to crash on the couch upon coming home, I did my workout: 4DS kickboxing + heavy leg toning. I'm glad I did.

Have a wonderful weekend :)

Happy Saturday Everyone!! Kinda warm but dark here, we didn't get the rain last night yet it looks like it could dump anytime.
Workout today-no decision since I've been walking.
Doing internship work, my hours are close to being done. No word yet on the other company, not employed till I sign the W-9.
Natty-Newmarket sounds like a great place to live. Bella, does she like her haircut?

Keeping up with Cathe in Chicagoland on FB and Trixoo here.
