We're In This Together **APRIL**

Busy day today! Finally have a little bit of time to post! Today was STS disc 14 Legs. Yowza that's a tough one in such a short time! It's so deceptive because it seems like it wouldn't be a big deal since it's just 3 sets of trisets of really basic exercises but when I do it I go as heavy as I can with the weights and I'm dripping with sweat! This was the disc last time that had me DOM'sing for 3 days so we'll have to see if I am better this time! I also did another ab section from that Gorgeous Core dvd. I like that one alot!

Natty- I'm so jealous you are getting the Turbo Tower!:eek: When I read your post I was so close to going on WalMart.com and just clicking the buy button! I have to make myself wait another month though...although there is always the credit card...hmmmm.:p

As far as the chest presses I've just been using dumbells for safety. I only did two 20 lb dumbells for the presses on Sunday and I still had wicked DOMS! I don't push myself too much when I work the chest, I'm such a baby there for some reason! I did actually try the barbell when I first started STS but quickly realized it was way too awkward without the tower.

Sarah- that was so funny reading your description of your workout. LOL There have been plenty of times where I would start a weight workout wearing my pajama pants 'cause I was too lazy to put on my workout clothes. That's part of the reason I work out barefoot too! Not only do I just hate shoes and how they feel, but I'm too lazy to put the suckers on!:D

Good luck with your meeting Jen! You are probably already on your way there by the time I post this. I hope it goes well! Unfortunately, like you said, it'll be time to dance the salary dance. They want to low ball, you have to counter. I'm really bad about negotiating stuff like that, sad to say.:(

Later girls!

Today, we really didn't talk salary although I can only collect for so long. The possiblities are greater with the marketing firm than the processor for advancement, greater well-being and money. She suggested bidding for State contracts.
Tomorrow interview, it will be interesting. My heart is with the marketing company.

Good evening ladies :)

Today's w/o was Athletic Step. I have to shuffle around my rotation a bit, and so I chose steady state cardio........although after completion, I think that was definitely not steady state . I love it though! So much fun :).

Colleen
I love, love chest work with my barbell. I love the barbell. Period. I prefer it to my dumbbell's since they hurt my hand with heavy weights. I have gloves and they still hurt (no padding on the handles :(). I guess we all have our wussiness with certain things :). I can't wait for May so I can understand your STS talk and appreciate it more :). Have you started your new rotation?
Jen
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!! Keep us posted for tomorrow :).
I'm sure you're happy about the 5lbs too. Eating at home vs restaurants or fast food will help you drop lots of water weight from consuming less sodium. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better, but yes, rest and listen to your body.

Have a great night everyone :)

Natty-yep I'm a wussy with chest exercises! I was so sore yesterday from the two 20 lb dumbell chest presses! I was all whiny and said to Mark, "I'm so sooore...feel sorry for me!" He just rolled his eyes of course. Heh. For some reason I actually like lower body DOMS but upper body ones just make me cranky! I do like DOMS in my biceps and triceps though! Makes me feel like a bad a$$!
As far as my sort of rotation...I have started but it's a really loose one. I did some of my circuit workouts and one kettlebell dvd last week. I got to do Drill Max which I just adore! I was so excited to do that one again! Then this week I am doing STS Meso 2 with straight up cardio on my off STS days. I'm thinking tomorrow I'll do KPC! Then next week do the circuits again. It's a very loose rotation but I like that because I still have the freedom of choosing what I want to do most of the time but I'm still guided by a little bit of structure. We'll see how it goes!

Jen- how did your interview go today?

I came home today from spending the day with one of my daughters and signed onto the puter to find out about Jen's interview. So it went well?? But now I understand tomorrow is the more important one. So good luck!

Totally jealous of you getting the turbo tower Nat. That piece will just have to wait until the kids move or we build a house because I just don't have the room. But it would be really beneficial for lifting heavy because I do like using the barbel for chest presses too. I also feel like a bad a** when I have doms in the bis - tris. . Funny because I used to hate working my tris but now I like it. If I may also add, I swear I am starting to see the slightest cleavage/pec muscle line and I like it. It makes me feel like I have cleavage. I've never had cleavage unless I push my boobs together : (

My daughter and I went to a trampoline place today. Good exercise, but I think my back will pay tomorrow. We also did the paint your own pottery place. Now I will have a really nice bowl to eat my oatmeal in every morning.

Today was TB LB

Sarah

Good morning ladies :)

Jen
Good luck on your interview today!!! Crossing fingers!!!
Sarah
Your cleavage comment made me laugh!!! Jillian says it's true too. She mentioned it on 30-Day Shred. My boobs have totally deflated since losing weight. Even 1 or 2 lbs and that's the first place the fat chooses to leave . It's ok, smaller ones are perky ones :D
I love trampolines! What a great workout too!
The paint your own pottery sounded lovely. I love that kind of arts/craft stuff.
Colleen
The best rotation is the one you'll do and have fun doing IMO. I try to pick ones that interest me and seem doable at this point in my life. You must be happy using your KB again.
Drill Max sounds awesome. So many people seem to be doing that one lately. Damn enablers!

Today's w/o is LBB

Have a great day ladies :)

Natty-Yes, Tim Horton's. One is being built in my hood. They have good tuna fish sandwiches there, more organic than Panera Bread. Conversation from FB.
Drill Max is worth the money. Sorry. It might remind you of boot camp from 4DS in some parts. I guess the premixes are the bomb.
Sarah-I, too, appreciate your comment on cleavage. I feel the same way.
Colleen-Your new workout video, cool that you're getting good use out of it.
Hello Nikki, Amy and Ellie.
Yesterday, my time with my internship host went very well. She was amazed I can write script for marketing, she gave me a short assignment and I smoked it. We are still discussing money plus we are now always connected. I believe and I must have faith this where I'm supposed to be. Later on, mock interview today. No biggy.
My interview today for a positon for a vendor within my former industry was good. I made an interviewer irritated b/c of my confidence, I hope it didn't show as arrogance or cockiness but I didn't crack. An executive manager came in and stated how the vendor is now doing bookkeeping for all the signed on credit unions and, as far as he knew, no one ever lost their job at a credit union b/c of it. Not entirely true. They pressured my former employer to give up control of that, yes it's a duplicate of transactions but it allows a credit union to give better service too. The money has to be there b/c it might be better for me to collect until I get a full-time position with the marketing company.
Thanks for allowing me to share.
It is National Walking Day so it's that or Travel Fit today.

Have fun with LBB Natty! I'm trying to decide if I want to do that one on Friday. I keep looking at Athletic Step and wanting to do it but I need to do it on a day off so I'm not rushed with the kids and can really concentrate on it. I have Friday off so that would be ideal but I keep looking at LBB! I can't do LBB tomorrow because I've got STS on tap and my lower body DOMS will likely still be in play (crazy sore today!). Decisions, decisions! That's the agony of having a concept rotation instead of a straight up standard one!

Today was KPC minus the stability ball abs. I ran out of time! Kickboxing is so ideal when I need to work out lower body DOMS. The cardio gets the blood flowing to those poor muscles and the kicking helps me dynamically stretch and lengthen those legs. Good stuff!:D

That's funny what you mentioned about Drill Max and the premixes Jen. I don't take advanage of premixes nearly enough. I'm weird about that. I always want to do the original workout. I do like to use the Leg cardio express premix in AT as well as the shorter cardio premixes in CCC though.
That's cool you're getting a Tim Horton's in your area. When I visited my cousins last time in Pembroke they took us there for donughts and coffee. The coffee was pretty great. I don't remember them having sandwiches but that was several years ago now. If they are as good as Panera then they must be yummy!

Sarah- that pottery place sounds like fun. We have one in town and we keep meaning to take the kids there to check it out. Arts and crafts plus something you get to take home and use! Win/win!;) Trampolines are so awesome. I love my rebounder so much. I do have to admit though when I first got it I was like a crazy woman bouncing like mad. I mean I really went all out doing it for too long and really bouncing high. I realized I needed to work myself up to it just like anything else. I actually hurt my knees and ankles at first doing it like that! Once I settled down, I went at it with more sanity. Heh. Oh yes, the boob thing. I used to be quite the buxom mama. Then I had kids and breast fed...I went from a D cup to a B cup! No lie! I actually don't mind it too much because I was always super self conscious before about being a D cup. Now I feel more "normal"...although I certainly wouldn't mind if they were more, ahem, perky..:eek:! Age and breastfeeding will do that to ya! That's one reason to keep doing those dang push ups I guess!

Have a great day ladies!

Colleen-too many choices. really. AS is much easier than Step Moves but is taught the same way so if you can do AS, you can do SM. Preview it at least once. LBB is great too. How will you decide? Isn't it Drill Max Scrambled Eggs the nasty premix?
I will only do the premixes for 4DS but I like the hour long cardio plus one hour strength (which I havent done on that workout)
Tim Horton's does taste different than Panera on their sandwiches. The tuna at Tim's was less dressed up and tasted fresher whereas Panera was loaded with extras like tomato, lettuce and onion. Both you could get on whole-grain bread. Although near IKEA in MI, I will go to IKEA cafe over both.
My mock interview went well. One more opinion to consider with a resume although the guy hires for IT. Lots to think over and may create one more resume in the near future although my internship is treating me like I'm hired. Account Executive. Yes, I am.
For my workout, I've chosen to go for my long hood walk to start building up for STS and the newbies coming out. It's sunny and warm here in MI.

Natty-WHEN we meet, I think we should be at Tim Horton's for sure or IKEA Cafe is one is around.

Hi everyone :)

Today's w/o was LBB standing leg work only + leg conditioning drills. Failed attempt. My legs could not handle all that Barre work after weight work. I did half of the Barre and in a pool of my own sweat and tears, I called it a day.

Some info about Timmies (as we Canadian's like to call it), they stopped selling the tuna salad sandwiches here :(. I'm not sure why . It was pretty tasty. Also, they have a generic way to make all the sandwiches but you can ask for veggies toppings like lettuce and tomato too. The chili is awesome, great winter comfort food. The Timbits are super yummy too :p. Actually all the baked good are very tasty. Unfortunately, the coffee quality has gone down. I'm not sure what happened
there, as Timmies was super famous for having the BEST coffee. There are tons of locations throughout Canada and I've been to lots, and most of the time the coffee tastes like burnt crap . More so in the busy cities like Toronto. Ask any Canadian and they'll either love the coffee or loathe it. Some will even say it tastes like s**t but they're addicted and get it anyway. Tim Horton's is a big thing here. We can get very personal and sentimental about it.
Colleen
AS is probably in the list of my top 3 fav step. There are parts that can be a bit tricky, but you'll love the more athletic-style blast at the end! The last 10 minutes made me sweat like crazy! Don't get frustrated with the choreo. Have fun & keep it light.
BTW, having downloads for most of my stuff, I rarely do premixes. The WB only works well with newer stuff, plus I'm too lazy.
MAN MED!!! Did you watch it?????? Don is back and hotter than ever!!
Jen
When are you going to know for sure if you have the position? I'm probably more anxious than you are!!

Have a good night :)

Natty, I have the internship position of Account Executive. The part-time pay is the issue and not knowing if I could go full time in the future. About the interview today, no word till next week.

Jen- I understand the issue of the PT pay. I hope everything works out.

Colleen - Why are you liking your new Abs DVD. How is diff from Cathe? Just curious.

Nat- I rarely do premixes too.

I ate way, way, way to much yesterday. I don't know why either. I just started eating and couldn't stop. I ate a good breakfast, and lunch. Around 3:00 (snack time) I got hungry and nothing satisfied me : (

Today is a new day. Hopefully I won't have the same problem. I starting to think I need the structure of a diet. I have never dieted in my life.

Sarah

Hi guys!

Today I did STS disc 15, back and biceps. I love the heavy lifting in Meso 2 but boy, does it make me hungry! It is so crazy. I noticed it after the legs disc this week...I was ravenous! I remember this the first time with Meso 2 and I have to be careful that the extra calories I take in are protein based. It would be easy just to eat and eat! Now next week I'll be back to circuits! So far I like this little concept rotation thing I've got going. We'll see if I get tired of it!

I think I've decided to give AS a go tomorrow. I've got LBB slated for Sunday and Saturday will be a day off. I think I'm going to try what you did Natty and do the standing portion plus the barre section. We'll see if I'm crying at the end too!:D I like standing leg work so much better than floor work. So much of the floor work ends up being done while kneeling and I'm just too freaked out about my knees to even attempt kneeling for any length of time. Even when I plant my vegetable garden I tend to do it while crouched in a squat of sorts instead of on my knees. I have to take a lot of breaks when I plant my garden!

Mad Men! Love it! You know what's funny about that show, is that I actually wish they spent more time on Peggy and Pete than on Don (even though he's the star of the show!). I loved the drama between them and the baby in the early seasons. They just have to bring that baby up somehow! I keep hoping Pete will go looking for him in some orphanage sometime. Oh the drama!:p

Sarah- I like my new ab dvd just for something different. Also, I like that the ab segments are short!:p They range from about 7 minutes to 12 minutes which is just right when I want to tack on some ab work after another workout. I love Cathe's ab circuits but those routines average 17-20 minutes so it can be hard to fit those in. That's why I love Sundays because I can exercise for as long as I want! During the week, I'm lucky if I can get 50 minutes in before I have to dash off with the kids and get to work. Of course, if I could get my butt out of bed earlier that wouldn't be an issue...

Jen- Yay for progress! Account Executive...sounds impressive! ;) Have fun with it. Sounds like it will keep you busy. Do you think it will lead to full time?

Have a great afternoon ladies!

Hi everyone,

Late post. I woke up feeling ok and as the morning progressed I realized I may be getting sick. My w/o was Intensity and I went ahead with it. As soon as I started the warm-up, I knew my body was not right. I had practically no energy to do the plyo, I was extremely fatigued even though I had eaten a very healthy lunch of salmon w/spinach and Ryvita snack bread (if you've never tried these, they're awesome!). I even did low impact to try and complete it, but felt like I was cheating myself (I know, I know, dumb me). I had to stop :(. Oh and my sleep has been less than stellar these past couple of days. I think sleep deprivation sucks the life out of me more than illness.
Sarah
I'm not going to tell you what you should/shouldn't be doing. I'm not judgmental that way. Everyone has their own reasons for over-eating or making bad food choices. Do whatever is best for YOU. We are here to support you :). BTW are you eating too little for breakfast and lunch?
Colleen
Ha, ha we were writing at the same time. I had to go back and edit to respond. I feel really hungry also since I've been doing more weight lifting. What are you eating for protein? I recently bought protein powder by Body Logix and it's formulated for women. Less calories/protein and 5g of fibre per scoop. It's really tasty.
I am the same with wanting more from Peggy and Pete. And what about that damn kid!! They never talk/show him! Mark was telling me that the cast smokes "herbal fake cigarettes" but Jon Hamm was saying in an interview that every time he's done shooting, he feels really sick from them afterwards.
Jen
I hope your day went well today.

Have a good day ladies :)

Sarah-Understand totally if you never feel satisfied. Unfortunately, that's how I felt just before the Vertigo hit.
Natty-lack of sleep causes many health problems. Hope Bella sleeps through the night and you too.
Colleen-Good luck with the barre. It is hard.
Hello Amy, Nikki and Ellie.

Today was a lazy day except for this morning, I had to create a new user on my pc to have my business email hit. I must keep my options open till my internship/PT shows me the money even after. The job hunt is depressing. My actual work interview went OK yesterday but, always afterward, I think I could've done better. They were actually concerned if I HAD the energy to keep up their pace. Oh Please!!! The Mock interview, the guy was brutally honest and I did point out to him there are so many opinions on resumes that it is confusing. He hires and he didn't know what a functional resume was...such is life.
Tomorrow, I will job hunt and create the data base on my new user. This pc is quite new so safe for now.
Can't believe it's Easter almost.

BBL and Peace.

Hey ladies thanks for welcoming me to your group. Sorry I haven't written in a few days, I have been swamped at work and I am way under the weather. I couldn't work out yesterday and today's not looking very promising. I have a terrible cough and now I think I'm getting a cold. I only worked half a day today. Thank goodness there's only one more day left in the work week. I'll post again once I'm feeling better. Keep up the great work ladies!

There is still alot of crud going around it seems. Hope you feel better. I had it and it was nasty. Walking is the only thing for me lately for about 40 min each day.

Hi Ladies,

Bella had a good night, but I didn't (figures). Tossing, turning and felt like crap.

My w/o today is supposed to be High Reps. We'll see how I feel and what my energy level is. No fever or body aches. Just very tired and congested. I can usually do weight work w/just a cold but cardio, no way. I have to listen and respect my body.

Happy Easter weekend ladies!! :)

Well, I attempted Athletic Step today. :)

I actually did pretty darn good! There were many many times I had to stop the dvd and rewind a few times to get a move and there were at least 2 maybe 3 moves I couldn't get at all so I modified with a simpler move when we got to those. I was amazed at some of the pivots, ricochets, movements off the step, rebound, etc. moves I was able to nail after a few tries! I actually had trouble with this shuffle and skip move she does across the step though and often my timing would be off to get into the next move as she does it but overall...not bad.

At about 30 minutes in I felt the muscles in my feet start to fatigue (remember, I workout barefoot!). I decided at about the 33 minute mark I'd better take a break and took out the trust little tennis ball I use to massage the facia on the bottom of my foot and especially arch when it feels like that. I wondered briefly if I should do this workout with shoes like most people do, so I dug out a pair of tennis shoes from my closet. I have several because for years I was trying to find a pair that I didn't hate! I started the dvd back up and within 1 minute stopped, took them off and threw them aside. My god, I cannot put into words how much I HATE shoes you guys! They are just AWFUL!!! I literally felt like I had bricks on my feet and my knees immediately felt torqued. No wonder my knees got screwed up before!
That said, even though I have good strong feet and ankle muscles compared to a lot of people, I do have to work up even more strength in those muscles to do the whole AS workout nonstop I think. ;)

I hope you guys feel better Natty, Sarah and Amy!!:( Sounds like a lot of illness going around...I hope it goes away quicly for you guys. Get lots of REST! Jen, good luck with job hunting. Later girls!

Hope everyone gets better soon, I understand how you feel. Please don't push yourself to workout cause it will make it worse. Get lots of rest, plenty of fluids and if a cold, feed it, if a fever, starve it. Expect your energy level to be down even after you get better. Three days in a row, I've done 40 minute walks.
The job hunt. Need to do it and follow my intuition when it comes to it. My former internship host was unemployed for two years. GOD help me, I need one sooner. About my current, when I went walking, her pay might cover my extras unless she hits gold, it will never be full-time and great salary. My job interview, that job won't pay, I would have to work a second job to make it happen.
Walking gives me time to free up my mind and away from WeTopia on Facebook. Playing it feeds the hungry in Haiti, etc. but it is addicting.
