Well *sigh* I tried....

I'm actually near Bloomington. But Springfield is less than an hour away, about the same distance as a drive to Peoria.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out and let you know! Have you ever done the Steamboat days? I haven't but my running buddy has and she said it's pretty hilly!! I am going to do the Lake Run 12K next month, I did it 2 yrs ago and it's a fun race!

Good for you!!! You look great...

I LOL at beating the man on crutches with one leg! WTG there!!!

Great job, Emily. Way to blow past that one-legged guy!

I think the only race I've ever been in was trying to get a flight after mine was canceled at DFW Airport. I was 16 and I was quietly cheering every time I blew past some old lady. I got on the flight. Anyway, i bow to your racing ability!

Jess, how cool that you're near Bloomington! We actually live in Metamora, which is only about 40 minutes from Bloomington. I have run Steamboat the last 2 years, and both times it was REALLY HOT and HUMID. Ugh. I only ran the 4-miler, not the 15k. The 4-mile is flat and fast (the "world's fastest 4 mile race", as they say), and the 15k is very hilly. Elite runners come from all over the world to run the 4 mile because they can set records here. Very cool. I'll try to run it again this year and hopefully it won't be so crazy hot! :) If you run it, let me know - we can meet up! :D Good luck with the Lake Run 12k!

That is FANTASTIC, Em! Way to go! You look so cute, too ;-)
