Website ghost deleting posts?

I have written 2 separate posts (asking if Brenda is the beginner modification instructor to watch), and both posts have disappeared overnight.

ANyone else ever seen that happen to other posts before? Where they are there one minute, then just totally gone the next?

P.S. Interesting ... one of these posts tha I bookmarked is no longer in my bookmarks either. Instead, it's just a number, and when I click on it, I get this message:
"The page you requested cannot be displayed.
Missing Topic
The page you requested cannot be displayed because there is no such topic. The administrator of this site may have removed the topic that you are looking for."

Does that mean the web person deleted the topic? Why would they do that? And why would they do it twice in a row on 2 separate posts? How odd.

If it was a mean post it would probably be removed. That is the only reason I know of. I am not sure what posts you are referring to though. HTH

::blink blink::

Are you serious? You really have no idea why a post would be removed? This feels like deja vu, but I could have sworn someone told you this already.

Posting offending or overly heated questions will do it. Also people trying to solicit services/products will also do it. Please take the hints.

if a thread it getting too heated and turning into others insulting other mmembers they will delete. also as stated if its solicting products and inappropriate language they will delete.

i notice your thread about brenda but i did'nt see anything mean with it,but its hard to tell when we are all behind a screen and all we see its words on a screen and not the tone and body language of the person. hopefully it was just a way to keep things from getting heated around here.

You probably did not mean your posts to come across wrong. It is very hard on the internet to convey meaning sometimes. Even with smileys a lot gets lost in translation. If you had simply asked if a particular exerciser was doing modifications, there would probably have been no debate or offense. Instead though, you first pointed out that said exerciser does not have as good form, doesn't jump as high and shakes. Then you ask if she is doing beginner modifications? Obviously reading that anyone would know that shaking and bad form are not modifications, so it's reasonable for some to assume you were passive aggressively attacking the exerciser. That may have been far from what you were trying to get across, but that is how it read. It would have helped to if you would have come back to your thread and explained what you had meant. You posted once and didn't post again until the thread was deleted (when things got to heated) then you reposted the deleted thread. That also gives the appearance of trying to start trouble, whether intended or not.

In answer to your original question though, "no".

I don't think you meant any harm, however, the way you post your comments/questions are taken by some members as being offensive or as trying to start a flame war (it did sound passive-aggressive). Flame wars are just ugly for any forum. You are relatively new here, and since this has happened before with one of your posts, some members may see your questions/comments as attacking. Please understand that most members are very loyal, happy customers of Cathe, and anyone casting any construed aspersions on Cathe, her products or her crew, will likely be percieved as a troll or someone purposely trying to stir up trouble. Once someone reports these types of posts to Cathe/SNM (via email or another post on Ask Cathe), the posts are often deleted or closed.

Liann - I'm glad you responded to this because I was also wondering why the post had been deleted. I understand, generally speaking, why they would be deleted but, like you said, it's hard to interpret what someone is trying to say or how they are coming across while sitting at a screen, even with smileys, and the others involved not being able to see body language, etc. That said, I remember reading those comments in the thread but did not look at it "your" way until you responded here. I now understand and it makes so much more sense. Thanks!!!

BeautyandGrace - I also had a post deleted when I first got here back in January because it did get so heated. My post was a perfect example of misinterpretation and several people thought I had come across as rude and pushy, though, in no way was that what I was trying to do and would never do. I was only asking for help and was a bit too eager I think. I also think Liann answered your original question so hopefully this will end here

you will find out pretty quickly (if you haven't already) that you are NOT "allowed" to say anything negative about cathe, crew, or workout at this forum without being bashed by the fanatics! you are not allowed to have your own opinions that differ from the "cathe on a pedestal" opinion!

that said.... i read your post on brenda and i was even a bit put off by it and i'm one who can be very critical of some of the background exercisers and cathe herself, for that matter.... it's all part of putting yourself out there on dvd and tv and having to realize we are all human and none of us are perfect (and we don't all share the same opinion).... a forum is supposed to promote discussion... both good and bad... praise and critism.... (and as for brenda.... i WISH i could keep up with her on the bike when doing spinervals... that gal ROCKS! no wonder evil coach troy has her in so many of them!!!!) but you are entitled to your opinion and you are entitled to not be flamed and run off just for having a differing opionion....

however, most on here forget that and run off anyone who isn't all star stuck with nothing but praise.... i only do cathe and spinerval workouts these days (with an occasional p90x rotation thrown in) so i am a huge fan of the workouts..... however i figured out a long time ago if you want to state your critisms on cathe (or crew)... go to the other fitness forums where you can like and even love cathe workouts.... but realize that they do have flaws on occasion... and not get flamed for stating what irks you!!!

You know, it really isn't so much WHAT you say, but HOW you say it, that counts ;)

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Ah yes.... you know, it's all in the presentation. Present it right, and you can say anything you want. But no, bashing isn't tolerated here like it is on some other forums that have no particular instructor affiliation.

I agree Shelley. I don't think people really have problems with constructive criticism - as long as it's civil and polite. People are more offended when things come across as mean, petty, or sarcastically negative.

Carolyn

I'm not sure if that's true Shelley. For example, how do you say "I slept with your mother last night" without being offensive? ;-) }( :+ :7

therein lies the problem.... cristism SHOULD be allowed here, too... you shouldn't run someone off just because they aren't praising...

YES.... i agree it's all in the presentation.... but it's also very easy to misread what is written.... so while i read what she originally wrote and disagreed with the way i interpreted it.... i never once thought of bashing or flaming her for stating her opinion...

yes... this is a cathe forum... however where better to discuss BOTH sides of the story so that people coming here for information can get a fully rounded idea!?

cathe's a big girl... i'm sure she realizes she's human like the rest of us... and it actually HELPS her make her workouts better to hear/read the critism (spelling)...

I guess what I find strange is that you never participate in any other threads, just the ones that are negative, especially about some aspect of Cathe, her workouts, etc. But, on your own website, you have nothing but praise for her. Why not use that venue as a place to really vent?

The issue with yesterday's post was it was not a comment regarding Cathe, or her workout, her business, or her fitness level....it was a direct comment about a background exerciser.

I'm sure Brenda (in no way ever by participating in the video) has ever claimed (or has Cathe claimed her) to be equal or better to Cathe's level. Therefore, why would that need to be discussed?

If people have comments on Cathe or her videos, so be it, as long as they are tastefully stated.

Likewise, I'm sure even a person here who participated in the RT wouldn't care to see a negative comment posted here about them simply because they chose to be a background participant in a Cathe class.

I don't know if that's true either. DVD reviews can be found all over the internet. This is a site for Cathe fans & it's only natural that we get put off when someone says something negative about a person we idolize.

If you have constructive criticism for Cathe it'd probably be a better idea to PM her or post it on a more general fitness DVD site. If you really feel the need to post it here, you have to expect to get flamed.

This is my observation as well. ;)

Wow - 3 for 3... (or is that 4 for 4 - if you count the post not started by this OP, but certainly contributed to)...

I guess my only thought is that no 'one' ran the OP off of here. Only SNM/Cathe has the ability to delete posts. So it isn't really isn't fair to blame forum members since they certainly couldn't have deleted any posts(other than their own).

And I agree, this is Cathe's forum. If she ask for opinions then I think it is fair game to give both good and bad, but to just come HERE to complain about something just seems like bad etiquette to me.
