Ugh! Why is my body so ITCHY?

My neck, chest, forearms, hands, ankles, and feet are KILLING me with itchiness. I haven't done anything out of the normal. No difference in food, laundry deteregent, medications...I mean NOTHING.

Has anyone had this issue before????:confused::(

Have you been someplace new or eaten something new that you've never had before? Some fall foliage beginning to pollenate that you may be allergic to? It's just kind of odd that it has hit so suddenly. Sounds related to season change, maybe?

Good luck figuring out! I hope it goes away quickly!

Oh! I just remembered! Have you tried an Aveeno oatmeal bath? I had a friend who broke out during a pregnancy and it worked wonders!

This happened to me this past spring. I hadn't changed anything, it turns out I was allergic to something in the air and that just happened to be my body's way of showing symptoms (as opposed to sneezing, etc). I forget what allergy meds I took, but I had to take half a pill so I wouldn't fall asleep at work. I even went to the doctor for it, and it was determined to be some kind of seasonal allergy.

Hives?

I had something like that a year ago... I itched all over and could hardly sleep. My dermatologist thought it was hives, and probably stress-related. I was going to through a tough time, and when the situation got better, the itchiness disappeared.

I second that suggestion to try Aveno Oatmeal Bath... it may help.

Good luck. I know how awful it is -- it just drove me crazy!

Nope! not a DARN thing has changed...I mean nothing! Not with food, or medications (I'm not taking any), i have no alergies, I'm not stressed (at least I dont 'think I am). Seriously, NOTHING!

BUT! I will try that aveeno stuff!!! And I'm willing to bet that I do have some allergic reaction to something in the air, cause it's nothing I'm consuming or someting like that.

oh, and the heat, well, it's not hot here and it's not cold, rather pleasant.

I'm sure it's just some fluke thing, maybe I sniffed something in the air? Anyway, thanks for your input ladies!!!;):D:D:D

You can develop an allergy to something you have been using or eating for years. It happened to my BIL--shellfish--all of a sudden out of nowhere and he ended up in the emergency room. Also dry skin maybe?

You could be missing something in your diet or you could have developed an intolerance:

1. Zinc, Vitamin A and Vitamin D are needed for skin health.

2. Do you use a flaxseed or fish oil supplement? Lacking Omega's could cause itchiness.

3. Try an elimination diet, try eliminating wheat/all grains, milk, corn and derivatives, nuts, tomatoes, shellfish, cheese, soy products, citrus, caffeine, eggs, potatoes (I know all that is left is meat, fish, chicken, vegetables and fruit). Most people are intolerant to wheat and milk. After all these foods are eliminated for at least 1 week, introduce each food for one day and see which one gives you the problem.

4. Try bathing or showering without too much soap.

Ironically, I'm allergic to Aveeno. Go figure! ;)

Hope you get the itchiness under control!!!

Happens to me to...

It's really strange because it seems to happen to me when I work out to late (around 7ish). Which is why I only like working out in the morning. I went to the doctor and he told me it may be exercise induced asthma. I googled it and found it could be anaphalaxis (SP?). It hasn't happened in a long time and if I feel it coming on, which it usually starts itching in my hands first, I will stop working out immediately. Do you swell up? I do especially if I scratch. It's so weird, I hate it!

aveeno oatmeal bath and aveeno lotion were a great help to me when i had hives. also try taking claritin. sometimes i get horrible itching after working out and i take a claritan and it goes away. there are generic brands of claritan available at much cheaper prices, i've been using the target brand and it works just as good. hope your feeling better soon.

Yes, people can develop allergies. Also, manufacturers change the formulations in products as well. I find the most common culprit is laundry detergent and/or fabric softener.

Yes, I notice I do swell up when I scratch, even just a little. I've been taking my vitamins and changed my lotion and body wash to that aveeno stuff (ironic you're allergic to it Liann! hmm!). I think it's working a little bit.

I still itch...but no where NEAR as much. just a tiny bit in my hands here or there and a little bit on my feet. I think it's finally going away.

I'm will to bet that it was some kind of seasonal allergy. I've had no allergies until now. So, that's what I've chalked it up to.

Oh...and that aveeno stuff...EXPENSIVE! I can't afford it! so maybe when I run out (if it's helping) I won't need it.

We will see...
