TurboJam: Big Disappointment

Hi,
My review of TurboJam is that it stinks. It is not kickboxing. It is a bouncy, dancy workout with a few kickbox style moves that don't get your heart rate up except for the turbo blasts which are too short. Even though Charlene says you get out of it what you put into it, it still doesn't work...at least for me. I am used to KPC and the like where you are jump kicking, leaping out of deep squats etc and these workputs just don't cut it. I think they are geared to someone not used to kickbox style workouts and who want a more dancy, perky workout. They are a lower intensity workout too, even though I was putting my all into it. I know many like it but its not for me.

Hi Cathy, I don't like them either. So far I've only seen 3 people who don't like these, including myself. I agree with everything you said. They are for someone who wants something bouncy and dancy. And I can't stand hearing Chalene say, "yeah baby" or "shake it baby." It makes me think of construction workers yelling at girls as they walk by. And I really hate the "Pump" move. I think everyone else thinks it is fun, but I can't stand it. I have actually put mine for sell at the Ya Yas. I think I have only 2-3 left to sell. I'm keeping the band as my band that I got from Cathe has a tiny tear in it. I'm waiting for it decide to rip and slap me in the face.

I didn't order TJ, but from what I've heard, I don't think I'll like it that much. I like more authentic kickboxing-style workouts, not "shake your booty"-type workouts with a bit of kickboxing thrown in. I also like my workouts "athletic" rather than "dancy."

I'm glad to see there are others who don't like these workouts. I was starting to think I was the only one.:)

Charlene drive me NUTS! She reminds me of a high-school cheerleader with her loud voice and her dance moves. I really wanted to like these, but I have to say, I find them annoying and just not the same intensity as Cathe. Oh well, I gave it try, but I think I will definitley stick with Cathe. My Dvd's also freeze in several spots.

I agree that these workouts are of a much lower intensity than Cathe's typical cardio workouts even though I too wanted these workouts to work and I put everything into it. I also agree that the blasts should have been longer. They are way too short...just as my heart rate was finally climbing, the blast stopped. If you think you are getting a kickbox workout, you are wrong. It is a dance workout with some kickbox type choreography thrown in (poor form demonstrated too) and if that is what you want and what you like, you might actually like the workouts. There is a lot of hype about these but I too feel they are geared to a beginner exerciser or at most an almost intermdeiate level exerciser. The sculpting workouts are also not intense and are for soemone new to weight workouts. The whooping and such didn't bother me, everything else did. The music didn't do much for me either, although it didn't bother me.. I would classify it as a teenybopper workout. I think this age group would find the workouts alot of fun and would be a good choice to introduce your teen or preteen to exercise.

LOL Kelley!!!! My band broke and slapped me during Gym-Style Legs a few weeks ago! I was so annoyed!

I am very glad to read these comments from exercisers who are at and probably above my level of fitness. I will not be tempted anymore by Turbo Jam.

ohhhhhhhhhh noooooooooo...........mine jusr came yesterday and now i am afraid to look at them........i may be surprised and like them..if not, thats what the swaps and exchange is for!!

I was also thinking about getting these workouts, so let me ask you ladies who don't like them: have you done the Yoga Booty Ballet, and how do they compare?

Thanks for the info!

Marie
:)

Hi Marie, I do not have Yoga Booty Ballet. I saw the infomercial for these and they are definitely not something I would be interested in.

Renee, I'm waiting. The tear is fairly small right now and I just keep on using it. lol

These DVDs are returnable, yes?

I watched the "Burn and Learn" DVD only and didn't open the others because I reallized these weren't the workouts for me.

Wow! Thanks so much for the information! I was really tempted to buy this set, and from what you all say, I know I'd be deeply disappointed. I'll save my money for the next Cathe purchase and the original club step!

>for!!

I just got mine yesterday too. I previewed them and I'm excited! I'm training for a marathon and with all this intense exercise, I NEED something a little lighter. I think they will be just perfect and fun. :) :)

I know a lot of people want these, and you all won't have any problems trying to swap or sell them.

Like them or not, I had to chime in and say they are very effective. I have exclusively used the Turbo Jam workouts for the past week and I have lost 4.5 lbs. Also, I bought a new pair of pants on Tuesday, Aug 23rd before I started them. I washed and dried them and put them on yesterday to find them too big for me now, especially in my waste.

That's great that they're working for you. I also know a lot of people who have gotten great results with Slim Series and Slim in 6 which are the most boring workouts ever. For me the most effective workouts are the workouts I like and will stick with.

I know, Kelley that is true. Different workouts appeal to different people. I am bored by Slim Series to, but love Turbo Jam.

Different Strokes - some people are Arnold and some are Mr. D. :)
