TurboJam: Big Disappointment

That is GREAT!! I can't wait to get started with mine. :7 Just previewing them, I know they're right up my alley. Looks like a blast. Different strokes for different folks is right. :+

So far I'm enjoying Turbo Jam. I just did the first DVD "Learn and Burn" which should be the easiest of the series and I found Chalene fun, inspiring and definitely motivating. I even found myself using muscles I don't usually use during my typical workouts because of her pelvic tuck method working out (heck, I'm even a little sore in places... surprisingly, and I do Cathe workouts all the time....I just finished her August rotation!) Turbo Jam is meant to be a high-energy, perky, lighthearted and fun workout for wide audience. As in any exercise, the more you put in it.. the more you get out of it. If you kick higher or punch harder, you will get a better workout. Personally, I like Turbo Jam's dancy steps with the kickboxing style moves. Of course, not everyone enjoys the same thing.:9

JMHO,
Robin

I just thought I would add....I did the 20 minute Turbo Jam DVD (and I am still learning the moves) this morning and according to my heart rate monitor if I compare calories burned per minute it approximately equals just as many as I do in Cathe's CTX Kickboxing DVD. I burn anywhere from 165 to 178 calories in 31 minutes of CTX Kickboxing and I burned 100 calories in 18 minutes of the Turbo Jam. (FYI, I'm a lightweight so I don't burn much.) For me, on a calorie per minute basis they run about the same. Like any exercise, it really depends on how much energy you put into it.

I absolutely love KPC (it is one of my favorite workouts of all time) and CTX Kickbox etc...etc......but Turbo Jam has it's own unique style and place. If you don't like to dance...definitely don't buy it, but I always like to add a little variety and fun to my workouts.:)

>Thanks for the input Robin! I'm going to try the 20 min
>Turbo Jam today. :)

Okay, I just tried the 20 minute Turbo Jam. Let me just say I was smiling the whole time and I am dripping sweat right now. It was great! You definitely have to like dancy stuff mixed with Kickboxing though, which I definitely do!

The music rocked!

:)

Yeah!!! I thought so too, Dani!! I was smiling and giggling the whole time too. Heck, I didn't even know I was working out until I downloaded the readings off my heart rate monitor. Hey, there is nothing wrong with absolutely enjoying a fun workout with a good beat and a fun, warm personality like Chalene. :)

Sorry to hear that you don't like it, Cathy.

I enjoy my "Turbo Jam" workouts---especially "Ab Jam", and "Cardio Parties 1 and 2". They have a "fun" feel to them and I like the music (just wish it was louder, though!). I don't really care for "Turbo Sculpt" however. I like "20 Minute Workout" for the days when I'm really short on workout time.

I usually like "athletic" kickboxing, where there's less of a "dancy" feel to it. When I tried "Turbo Jam", I surprised myself by liking it alot, even with the dancy aspects of the workouts.
