The women in the P90X workouts

Hey Sparrow- LOL I could be a bit sensitive as its kinda my "area" in life that I always felt inferior... Thanks for keeping me in check and in good humour! YOU ARE APPRECIATED!:7 :p :+

I agree Sparrow. I think the original poster was making an observation.
We all have different goals. I think it's unfair to call someone shallow because they have a specific physical goal in mind.
It is not my goal to get shredded like Cathe. I think she looks beautiful, but I personally like a softer look. I can appreciate what it takes to achieve that look. I don't think it's shallow to want it.

Folks, yes this was an observation only and a statement of my personal preferences to emulate people with killer bodies to help me invision my goal. I never said anything negative about the women's bodies on the DVD's and they are certainly all way stronger than I am right now for sure.

I assume that we all wish to be healthy and strong in the first place, but I certainly also want to appear fit as well and that's just me. I also figured that people doing P90X were people who were interested in that as well with all the before and after pics, etc. I mean, this is how it's billed on the P90X website:

"P90X is a revolutionary system of 12 sweat-inducing, muscle-pumping workouts, designed to transform your body from regular to ripped in just 90 days."

I assumed that some people on this forum were of like mind and that's the only reason I posted.

>I'm most excited I have gone from virtually 0 to 32 boy
>pushups (even my son was impressed!), I was always a 3 mile
>runner and haven't done it in years (and now run 4 miles with
>no stopping), I'm eating so much better and feeling better.
>That's what is important.

Congratulations! Isn't that a great feeling! P90X took me from doing 'on-the-knees' push-ups to doing mostly 'on-the-toes' push-ups and really got my core strong.

I agree that THAT is what is important, not how someone looks (I assume that the background exercisers like the way they look and that's all that's important: to be comfortable in one's own skin).

I don't think anyone would argue that the backgrounders aren't fit. And "fit" comes in different packages.

Sometimes it's really great to see someone besides the cut, petite, tiny-a$$ed, shreddy-thready, skinny 7% body fat women in exercise videos.

Thank God for Cedie and Brenda!

A round hip and a little 'junk in the trunk' is a nice thing to see.

No one I saw in the P90X videos looked anything besides fit and it was nice to see fit without the gaunt, heavily muscled look.

Everything in moderation...;)

I agree with you Kathryn.

P90X kick started me back from cancer-patient blob to someone who's now relatively fit, 29 pounds lighter, adn ready to face another sugery!

sophiem,

I know what you mean and I agree with your observation. I really don't think anyone in this thread was trying to take away from the women in the P90X workouts . . . just thinking that from the description on the site you would expect more visible cut on the women . . . like on the MEN. Wowza, some of those boys are just HOT! }( So, I watch them. Even though, as a woman, I won't look like them . . . they motivate me more. When doing Cathe's videos I watch Cathe and Jai and Lorraine. WHY?!?!? Not because I think any less of the others at all. It is simply because at my level and body style I aspire to look like those three and I can attain that. It's rather simple. I feel the same way about personal trainers. If I am going to pay someone to work me out (which, by the way, I have not) they darn sure are going to be in superb shape. We are not all looking for the same thing. Even on this forum we each have our own "benchmarks" for what we want to attain. To some Cedie and Brenda are the biggest heros. And that's great. Diversity is good, and it is great to see that Cathe realizes this and selects her crew accordingly! P90X is a great program. There is no doubt that the women are fit and strong. There is also nothing wrong with hoping to see at least one woman in the mix with a blow your hair back physique.:)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I don't think anyone here has to apologize. Lets face it, we hang out on this forum because we like advanced workouts. Tony and Cathe take it to the next level. Many of us have moved on to more advanced workouts because we want to achieve results we couldn't achieve with easier workouts. Whether it's weight loss, more muscle definition or a stronger cardiovascular system, it doesn't matter. It's still better than sitting on the couch and doing nothing.
