Sugarless Mommas and babies 3/21-3/27

planned meals today
1-oatmeal, walnuts, 2 clementines-done
2-pb/wwtoast, strawberries
3-lentils in pita, broc soup
4not sure
5-baked chicken tenders, corn on cob, sweet pot
6-not sure

I think I do better with my diet when I decide BEFORE the day what I"m going to eat. The only thing is I normally deviate a bit from it & then feel "dishonest" for posting a menu that was changed. Am I being anal?

Let me plan my day
B: steel cut oats, 1/2 banana, walnuts, coffee
S: 1/2 banana (prerun) smoothie (post run)
L: veggie black bean chili,1/2 turkey sandwich with spinish & swiss milk
S: fiber bar
D: the other 1/2 sandwich from lunch + bunch of steamed brocolli
S: nuts

Thanks for your prayers, ladies!Christine, welcome back. Glad John finally pooped! Susan, your menu looks great!

susan-glad you liked the lentls. DH is ameat man to and always ask me to add ground turkey to the lentils. I haven't yet,as that would require another step and more mess to an otherwise easy meal. Your such a nice wife making DH something else..no wonder there is so much lovin going on in your house. Maybe if I didn't feed DH lentils, I'd get some, too. ha! I'd love to see the sloppy joe lentil recipe

Christine-mmm...tootsie rolls and twix. yum! I'll cross my fingers for the 12 week mark. This post preg is just so different than with Caden. I had lost all 18lbs gained when I left the hosp w a 6lb baby. This time, I lost only 10 of 21lbs gained when I left w an 8lb baby and today still have 9 left. crazy. Melanie-anal about the meal posting thing? Maybe but who cares if that's what works! I haven't been eating for the extra 500
breastfeeding calories because I really don't think Il'm using that much. Reese is probably drinking around 15ounces of formula, so she really isn't getting much from me.

Hi Jen and Priscilla!
P90x back, biceps on tap for today but my hands are so achy that I may take today off. 55 and sunny today, so I may see if Reese will humor me and let me take her for a walk.

Lisa, how much does Reese weigh now? I agree that 500 calories seems like alot "to burn" while nursing. I believe I burn that nursing twins....so 250 seems more accurate. You won't like what I have to say...but I think you need to try to eat a bit more. I was at a 1500 calorie deficit/day and not losing any weight. I added 200 calories/day and the weight started coming off. I believe my body was in "starvation mode" even though I didn't feel hungry at all. It was tough b/c it went against everything I was feeling. Just a suggestion. You are doing GREAT. I stalked thru your fb pics yesterday & you and your family is so cute! I saw pics of you after your baby was born & you look great...I think you're being tough on yourself (we're always toughest on ourselves).

I'm having software issues with Operation Insanity. I'm hoping to get things figured out, but it's slowing down the process.

My running buddy will be here in an hour! I"m getting so excited! I hope she shows up! I have a history of people not showing up for "dates". :( I cleaned up my house b/c she's never been here....SO SHE BETTER SHOW UP. lol

gonna workout during Ks nap..hopefully in an hour!
we just made green bean baby food. Peas and pear on tap this afternoon
Lisa-I will post the recipe today ok!
Mel-she sure better!!! hope you have a great run.
very sqirmy baby..bb after workout

Susan, I forgot to answer your question. I found Brewer's Yeast at amazon.com ....we just don't have ANYTHING up here in the boonies. However, you can normally find it in the groceries section in the baking section by the baking soda & such. It's normally in a canister. :)

john peed through his diaper last night, so it was drama changing him and the sheets. We have had to specially pad his crib so that in case he rolls over he does not bump his head and bruise. I am going to have to figure somethign out. He peed through a Size 3 Huggies Overnight. I am embarassed he is so big. A woman said somthign to me at costco about how big my baby is and is he getting too much. Huh? ANyhow, I love my little chunk.
We are planning on a run this morning and then driving up to the reservoir. Jimmy wants to have a bike race with his imaginary friend Pretend Cow. He polished his bike and helmet and everythign. SO i need to make some snacks and an award ribbon of some sort. I LOVE this age! I am HOPING (cross fingers) for a great workout later. I am thinking Muscle Endurance or a short Insanity (from teh first months) and CTX. I really need to get back into abs. I have not done them in three days.
Lisa- I know it does not help for us to pat you on the back, we are all slaves to that scale. But, like Melanie, I stalked you too. You are slim! When I got my period, things really changed. I am one of those few people who held weight while I nursed with my first. Your body might be holding onto extra stuff just ot make milk. When yo uwean, you should see a difference in a few weeks. Like Melanie said. the calorie thing is a factor. Melanie (and I) were not eating enough for a while, I added some eggs and milk for protein per day, and it was like the magic my body needed! Keep up the great work!
Susan- That bad cold we had here a month ago started with a fierce sore throat. Stay healthy. And, wow, your DH and Haley are lucky that you are such a nice chef! We cook one meal and it is take it or leave it! Especially now that I ned to have us all seated for dinner by 6 so I can clean up and get JOhn bathed by 7!
Jen- Get back here!
Priscilla- Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Melanie- HAVE A GREAT RUN! I am so happy that yo uare finding joy in it. It is such a powerful sport, you feel so strong. It takes a lot to keep pushing yourself, and I am glad to have you as a running buddy!

Melanie-thanks! I think we're going to our mall today and there is GNC there..surely they will have it if Walmart doesnt.
Christine-its amazing all the things your have to think about now like John bumping his head in bed...you are such a strong woman! I love chunky babies!
Lisa-I think I will make these this week. I will probably just do in cooktop though.
Lentil Sloppy Joes

1t veg oil
1 onion
4 celery stalks
4 cloves of garlic
1/2 t oregano
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
1 T balsamic vinegar
1T brown sugar
1T dijon mustard
2 cups cooked lentils, drained
hot pepper sauce
toasted hambuger buns

Suatee onion, celery for a few min. Add everything expect pepper sauce and buns. It says to put in crock pot for 6 hours on low or 3 on high. I plan to just cook on stovetop for an hour or so. Use pepper sauce if you like and spoon over buns. I hope this is good I am sooo looking forward to it!
Hopefully I am about to workout!

Good Morning ladies

Daniel is going to be a TALKER! He doesn't shut up, so funny. I think he's teething, kinda of drooling all the time and making bubbles too. I have to get him one of those toys for his gums or maybe I can take him to Jen's dentist LOL

Susan, sorry your throat is killing you, I'm also getting a bit sick, must be the weather change. It was snowing here in DFW last Saturday and today is in te 60s-70s. Crazy! Hope you feel better soon

Melanie, I'll keep you dad and family in my prayers. I do believe that prayer is a powerful thing. I hope you get good news soon.

Lisa, I bet you look great. a 21lbs gain is not that much and I agree with Christine, once your hormones level off, you'll see dramatic changes. Keep it up!

Christine, I'm not a big fan of working my abs and most of the times I conveniently forget them. That's where I need the most help. I like working my abs as part of other workouts, say kickboxing or a speedy run in the elliptical (mine have the handles to work upper body and I can really twist my core). I have to commit to add 10-15 mins of abs few times a week though

Hi Jen and Allison

Back later

workout done!
My new fav lunch is lentils in a toasted ww pita..YUM. Gonna put different seasoning in them change it up but the taco is delish! Will try the sloppy jo version next. Along with the soup it was a very satisfying lunch that will hold me a few hours.
Hi Pricilla-yes the weather is wackco isnt it. Kara talks non stop too...its hilarious!
So far my throat is better..no runny nose yet...fingers crossed!

Thanks for all your support! You guys are awesome. I think I'll take a chance andstart adding 200 or so calories for abit. Crossing my fingers, toes, legs, and arms that the scale doesn't go up!

I have not had a good morning, so I'm going to post the day, as like Melanie said, I think th might help keep me in line today:

B- 1/2 c steel cut oats, 2 huge strawberries, 10 almonds (300)
S-lentils on ww tortilla (200), 1/2 c breyers vanilla ice cream (150) (I know..not the kind of dairy I should be adding. I need to lock up food when I'm feeling down. hey, at least it was all natural ;) )
L-sweet potato w spinach, chicken, ff sour cream (250)
S-cheese stick and strawberries, protein shake (200)
D-chicken stir fry w brn rice, carrots (350)
S-apple, walnuts (200)

total calories of around 1700

Susan-let me know if you come up with some good spices for the lentils.

Priscilla-hope Daniel cuts his tooth without TOO much disruption

Priscilla- Hi !!!! John chatters, too! I love it, not when it turns to crying, though. Sorry about the tooth, the first two are the hardest, I think. Poor guy. Try freezing a wet washcloth, they can hang on to it better than all the toys at the store.
Lisa- Your bad days are better than my worst on eating. Keep it up! You are so close!
Did a 8.25 mile run with the kids and then took jimmy bike riding at the reservoir, for a 3 mile walk with bjorn and fatso. Off ot make lunch for the kids.
So far:
1 string cheese
1 apple
1 clementine
1/2 chocolate protein bar
1 handful sweet potato chips
1/2 orange bell pepper
1/2 cucumber
1 high fiber tortilla with low fat cheese and black beans
1 caffeine water (I know, it is awful, I am so tired)

Lisa-if you saw my bad days of eating yours would seem like nothing. I wish i had bad days like yours!
Chrstine-your eats look great too! I love red and orange peppers..do you eat them plain? You earned your caff water...I dont see how you keep going like you do!

Ok afternoon snack was 2 sqares of dk choc with nat pb on them..I jsut discovered this....it tastes like a Reeses but toal of uner 200 cals and oh so good.

Susan- I bet we eat like 12 peppers a week in this house. I put them in everything! It is my son's favorite treat, too! I sprinkle cut up veggies with garlic pepper. So yummy. Jimmy and I share veggies and black bean quesadillas for lunch most days. Trader Joe's here, has a great deal on peppers almost every week.
My caffeine water is my weakness. It does not upset my tummy like coffee does late in teh day. It has no sugar or artificial sweetener. Still, nothign like a diuretic water! I am hoping to get both down for a nap so I can do weights and abs. I might do Lo Imp Circuit if I can muster the energy.
Susan, still feeling ok? I hope so!
Melanie- Did you go on your run?

Christine-yum..now Im craving black bean and orange bell pepper quesadillia!

We have been outside..its gorgeous today!

Just made a double batch of lactation cookies. :p They are soooo yummy. Susan, I can only put about 1 and 1/2 cup of oats per recipe batch. I'm curious to see if you can get any more?

Chrisitine, what are sweet chips?

Noone told me what lentils are yet. Are they those noodle thingies that look like rice?

operation insanity is up and running again. Darn glitches are ironed out. :p

Sweet potato chips. They are still chips but at least have fiber!
Susan- so yummy, add some cilantro and abocado too! And some chicken for dh!

Hey ladies! Missed you all sooo much but the training was really good! Went to Ulta during the lunchbreak, treated myself to some eyeliner, blush and two colors of nail polish. We got done early so I picked up James, dropped him with DH and went to get a pedicure and eyebrow wax. Boy do I feel so much better. Except no workout. I will start fresh tomorrow. Here's todays eats:

B; egg beaters, ww eng muff, banana two cups coffee
s: 1 1/2 fiber one poptarts
l: brocc cheddar soup and half turk sand from crispers, iced mocha coffee, and 4-5 bites of a couple different flavors of cookies.
no snack
d: will be spinach stuffed chicken and smashed potatoes w some veggie

So today wasn't that great eats wise but it sure was good!

Lisa- I agree with a couple things the ladies have said. #1, eating a little more. #2, you already look phenomenal! #3, can't believe you only gained 18lbs (try 42 here!) and #4 I lost the last 5 pounds when i stopped pumping/nursing.

Melanie- I wish you could be my running partner cause I know you would push me. I have been slacking so much with my running and pushing through.

Christine- I agree w Susan about thinking of all the things that might bruise John or hurt him. Your mind must be constantly running. I still think you are great even if you give your kid chewing gum. ;)

Susan- I hope you are not getting sick! It always derails the workouts. Maybe I can catch up to you in STS now. :p

Priscila- James has been drooling like crazy for over a month now. Dr said it will prob be closer to 6 months before he cuts a tooth. I keep feeling his gums but dont feel/see anything. MIL also told me about the washcloth trick. Much cheaper!

Allison, where are you??? Hope you are ok.

Ok need to go eat. I'll try to check back later. Did I tell you how much I missed you ladies?? :D Feels good to be back.
