Sugarless Mommas and babies 3/21-3/27

Melanie-ooooo another Christmas comign up. You and Christine rock for doing this for us! After your race do you plan on doing more weights??

Lisa..thank you sooom uch for the recipe. Im going to make this for lunch. Do you think it would be good in a ww pita? I love lentils!

2-kashi heart to heart, banana

I am going to test out my skills at the same "operation" so if I can figure it out., I have some great workouts to share...
I have declared defeat in teh house and the cleaning people just got here. They are doing the whole house for fifty dollars! I told hubby it would mean more time together! Quietly.
I feel rested today, which is a relief. Melanie, I was not eating enough and doing the same runs and struggling. Yesterday I got mad at the scale, ate a bunch of carbs, feel great today adn weighed in okay. Runnign is unique in the amount of calories you need. Especially long distance. Glad that you are liking the book!
Looking forward to a great day. I am going to Costco with both kids, ugh! BBL! I am going to try the stepboxing workout later and then a litlle insanity plyo! My legs are going to be fried!

I am loving the books alot. Matt Fitgarald I believe is the author. He is also editor and chief of RunningWorld.....which I LOVE that magazine. Do you have the woman's running magagzine?
I'm typing one handed (nursing) you'll have to forgive my typos.

Christine~ I'll send you a PM in regards to operations!

Susan-I think they'd be great in pitas. I like to add a little sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. That's the only lentil recipe i've made, other than just throwing into soups. I sometimes spice it up with more chili powder, some red pepper flakes, etc.

Christine-where did you find someone to clean for 50??? I'd so have a cleaning person if I could get that price. In my area, the best rate I could find was around $100 for just the main level of our small split level house. I can't imagine all the dust is my house and toilet bowl rings once I return to work.

DH and my dad are installing my newkitchen floor today. I should go throw knives into that old flooring. It was vinyl that had been completely stripped. It was an absolute b@$5h to scrub, impossible to keep clean, and I swear scrubbing it on my hands and kneesi the night before I had Caden put me into labor. Hope they can finish it today. Once my brother is done resizing a cabint, we can put in the new refrigerator and get the kitchen put back together. there are things everywhere, and it's driving me batty.

3mi treadmill run this am. and a core max ab workout this afternoon

Mealnnie-I agree..I have been previewing char and cant wait to start!
Hi Christine-have fun shoppong
workout done..
having soup and turkey for lunch..making lentil taco for dinnner

lisa- sorry ty[ing while feeding john so short. found hert team on yelp.com. she brings in 4 people and they do both floors in 1 hour, so we come home from running and house is clean! tyr yelp, you can get reviews and stuff. it took me a bit to find her, but worth it. and she is insured so i do not have to worry...

Lisa, my cleaning lady charges $10/hour!!! But I"ve only had her here twice & that's when I was in the hospital. I should have her come back! For bathrooms & mop the kitchen floors. :)

We're having someone come and shampoo the carpet when I'm down South doing the 1/2 marathon. $200 to do 1200 square feet of carpet & stairs. Cheap!

I had my first good run in a long time. It was a 5 mile tempo run (1/2 mile walk, 4 mile jog, 1/2 mile walk). I"m ready to run w/my friend tomorrow.

Hey ladies! Whew, lots of reading here! I don't want to forget but I made some chicken rollups with spinach that were really good last night. I need to post the recipe. I also made those smashed potatoes that Susan posted and those were yummy! DH is still sick and went to dr today. They gave him something for the nausea because he hasn't been able to hold anything down and we don't want him to end up in hospital. I am stressed to the max and just ready to break. I would love to get in a workout tonight but we will see if James cooperates. ((Fingers crossed)) I really need the mental break. So far I've done better on the sugar but there is a cheesecake in the break room that is calling my name.

Melanie- I'm glad you are feeling better and figuring out the running vs. eating thing. More workout stuff huh? ;) You deserve it more than anyone I know! besides you Christine! :D

Christine- $50 to clean the house? That IS cheap. My house is a wreck right now cause I can only do so much at night with DH sick and not helping.

Lisa- I agree, you do what works. We used to put James to sleep in his bouncy chair. The harder you bounced him the better he slept.

Susan- I always leaked with let down too. Hope Kara cooperated so you could work out.

Hi Priscila and Allison!

I'll try to BBL!

workout done. lentil taco mix is cooking..kara is about to wake up.
Jen-thanks for the recipe. I am loving trying all the new recipes you guys post. Speaking of which...Melanie-would it work if I used 2 cups brown sugar for the lactation cookies instead of splenda??
Ok baby up ready to roll..Haley wants to play outside.

I gets recieps from dr weil daily......this one sounds good.

Potato and Sweet Potato Torte
Layers of potatoes and sweet potatoes meld into an impressive vegetable "cake" that forms a golden crust during baking. Serve as a vegetarian centerpiece or with roast poultry or pork.

Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
2 large leeks, trimmed, washed (see Tip) and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Freshly ground pepper to taste
1 pound sweet potatoes (about 2 small), peeled and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices
1 pound all-purpose potatoes, preferably Yukon Gold (2-4 medium), peeled and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices

Instructions

1. Position oven rack at the lowest level; preheat to 450°F. Coat a 9 1/2-inch, deep-dish pie pan with cooking spray. Line the bottom with parchment paper or foil and lightly coat with cooking spray.

2. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add leeks and thyme; cook, stirring often, until tender, about 5 minutes. (If necessary, add 1 to 2 tablespoons water to prevent scorching.) Season with 1/8 teaspoon salt and pepper.

3. Arrange half the sweet potato slices, slightly overlapping, in the prepared pie pan and season with a little of the remaining salt and pepper. Spread one-third of the leeks over the top. Arrange half the potato slices over the leeks and season with salt and pepper. Top with another third of the leeks. Layer the remaining sweet potatoes, leeks and potatoes in the same manner. Cover the pan tightly with foil.

4. Bake the torte until the vegetables are tender, about 45 minutes. Run a knife around the edge of the torte to loosen it. Invert onto a serving plate. Remove paper or foil and serve.

Tips
The torte will keep, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat, covered, in a 350°f oven.

Tip: To clean leeks: Trim and discard coarse green tops. Split leeks lengthwise with a sharp knife, beginning about 1 inch from the root end and cutting toward the green end. Leave root end attached. Swish leeks repeatedly in a basin of cold water to remove grit. Alternatively, trim roots and ragged tops. Slice leeks and place in plenty of water, then drain. Repeat a few times. The slices do not absorb water or lose flavor and the process is faster.

Ok ladies, so I totally have a hot dentist! We found him on FB and his picture looks hot! So I might just stop brushing my teeth for awhile.... :p

Susan, the original recipe was for white (plain) sugar....I used Splenda instead...so if I were going to substitute I'd go with plain sugar. Hope you like them....mine are gone! ...my family loved them too!!!

I also made banana bread lactation muffins. Let me know if you want me to post this too. My milk is in so good today. I'm so happy to feel "full" and my girls tummies seem satisfied....makes mommy feel happy. :D

so that would be 2 cups sugar right melanie? instead of 1 cup brwn and 1 cup speleda

Jen-yayy on the hot dentist..mine is dorky!

squash baby food is in my babycook! when should I start veggies..in a few weeks? Im gonna do peas, beans and pears too and freeze all so I'll be ready to go! This Babycook is too cool! Does all the work for ya.

Susan, I would use 1 cup white (regular) sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar. Now I"m sad that mine are all gone. :( I"m going to have to make a double batch next time!

Jen, hot dentist,...eh? I need to make an appt for dentist... hmmm, it wouldn't be over a year if my dentist was hot. :p

Christine, how was your shopping?

Lisa, I thought about Mirena. I may go with that after I"m done nursing. Although, we've been practicing (and perfecting) the same birth control method as you are. LOL
