STS first time!

Thank you all for the good thoughts for Dad (again!). It's so nice to find such a supportive place. We are feeling really hopeful this time and are excited to finally get this done.

Becky Good luck to your Father. I hope all goes well. Don't worry about STS . It will be there when you guys get back home. Getting him healthy is the most important thing. Do you have any siblings? My Mother is 94 and she has lived with my sister for 1-1/2 years. She was in the hospital and nursing home all summer with pneumonia. The Dr didn't think she was going to make it but she is a tough lady. She is very self sufficient. Have a safe trip.

Jean, that's great about your mom! She sounds like a strong and resilient person. I had a brother, but he died several years ago in an accident. My sil and nephew help out as much as they can, but it's easier for me since I'm a stay at home mom.

I pulled out Athletic Step today, which I haven't touched in over a year and a half! Was it Becky who said it was fun? I agree! This workout used to vex me and I would give up in frustration! It's not nearly as difficult to follow as LICh! It is intense too--I was dripping!

Off to cook dinner!

That was me! I LOVE Athletic Step best of all the step workouts I have. I'm not particularly talented in the choreography department, so this one is a winner for me. It's complicated enough to keep it interesting for me, but doable, so my heart rate is up there. I love how I can vary the intensity by playing with the step height. One riser makes a world of difference!

So, STS Disc 17 today -- Legs. Still so hard for me. The weights are so heavy in my hands during squats, so dh treated me to a weighted vest. Can't wait to try it next week! I love using the sliding plates for lunge work -- much much kinder to my knees. I've given up on that elevated lunge, though. Much too much pain in that move for me and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, so I do weighted step-ups on the high step instead.

Carolyn---You cracked me up!!! And for the exercises, with time you will be able to do them...just be patient and listen to your body. You do not want to overdo it! And I was thinking of you while running today! I know it is your passion too! And I hope that you will be running moderately soon!

Tim and I are making homemade pizza!!! Yum Yum!!!

When the hubby is away...Carolyn you can do upper body!!! Just don't tell!!!

Hey all-

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. It's been harder to get online. B and I are doing great. His awake times have lengthened and nap times have shortened so it's been harder to get stuff done. That's parenthood though right?! I do love it though. Unfortunately the forums are the last thing I have on my to-do list for right now. Hoping to get them back up there as time goes on. I will check in as I can though.

B is doing good. He tends to have more fussy periods after eating lately. Reflux possibly. The dr wants to wait to put him on medication which I totally agree with. We have been trying other things like holding him upright after eating. Seems to help somewhat. Anyone have advice on this topic. I will gladly take it.

We have been getting on for daily walks which has been nice. The weather was great today :)

Glad everyone is doing well.

Good morning! Up and heading to lowes! Gotta get the rest of materials to finish cat house! Hope eveyone has a nice day! Check in with more info later!

Quickly checking in with STS Disc 18: Back and Biceps before taking off for the hospital with Dad. Have a great week all -- I can't wait to come back and do the second half of STS!!

Tony was off today...one reason I'm able to check in lol. He is holding B right now. It was freezing out so we did our daily walk at the mall today. Hoping its nicer tomorrow. I miss the outdoors when the weather starts turning cold. Looking forward to Tue. My sister in coming in town from CO with her 7 month old baby. Then to Duluth on Thu Fri to hang with family.

Good Morning Ladies!

Sorry I was MIA this weekend. It was super busy with my daughter’s birthday party. Friday I was off to prepare. Went to the grocery store and then got all the food prepped. Saturday was a great day. I have family spread across several states (VA, WV and PA) and Carl’s family is in NJ. They all made it for the party. So we really try to make it nice since everyone travels to our house. It’s really the only “Holiday” that we host anymore. Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas we alternate between my parents and Carl’s Parents. It was a long day, but turned out really nice. I was also able to squeeze in HC vol 2 on Saturday and yesterday I did spinning turn and burn. Yesterday was just a relaxing day. I prepped some food for this week and then we just relaxed. I didn’t shower until 2PM and never once left the house.

Today I am exhausted. I set my alarm to workout at 5AM and couldn’t pull myself out of bed. I am working from home today and though, maybe I’ll workout before my daughter gets on the bus, but that hasn’t happened either. I just have zero energy today.

Carolyn, I agree with Jean, you could alternate any upper body workout. How about 4DS? You could alternate the upper body routines on that one or Pyramid Upper Body the upper body portion of high reps. We didn’t really have a “theme” for her birthday. She really wanted an ice cream cake and I was going to make one, but hubby forced me to go out and buy one instead (as he knew I was putting too my stress on myself). I got a smores ice cream cake from Maggie Moos. She loved it!

Marie, watch was you are eating with B. I know I couldn’t touch broccoli or beans while I was nursing or it would give my babies horrible reflux. Glad you two are doing well!

Becky, good luck today. I was be praying for you and your father.

Missy, congrats on your 5K! I too think you look great. Don’t get too skinny.

Hi Jean and Betty.

Have a great Monday. Off to make another cup of coffee. Just can’t wake up this morning.

Hello All. And...Happy Monday!

This past weekend was so busy for me....last night I took a shower and was going to lay across the bed for 5 minutes with the cat....and next I knew Tim was waking me up to get on my side of the bed. I fell out @ 8:30.....very unlike me. I was exhausted!!!

So, back to work today....lots to do and we are slammed till next year because of all the the holiday days off. We are doublebooked!!!

We get thursday and friday off for thanksgiving, and 3 days for christmas and 3 days for new years!!! So it gets a little hectic!!!

Carolyn---I am so sorry to hear of the same pain....when do you followup with your dr? And maybe trisets will work or STS dvds....upper body???? I hope once you get a little exercise in you will feel better! Sending Hugs!!!

Colleen---Sounds like you were just as busy as I was. Sometimes you need to rest....get back at it tomorrow. One day will not hurt!!!

Hello to Jean, Betty and Becky!!!

Marie---sounds like motherhood is the best! Congrats! Enjoy the family time!

Gotta run...Be back later.

Tonight is Afterburn!

Hi everyone,

I did HSCh this morning and was looking at the clock every minute! I don't know what was up. Not overtired, or muscles sore, or anything. Well, it could be how poorly I ate this weekend! Fried seafood, processed foods, cheetos! Probably my brain is sluggish from that! I just cringe when DH goes food shopping! Am I allowed to say that? But nobody held a gun to my head either. Can you say self-loathe??

Carolyn, does NH give kids today off? Sounds like PA doesn't, and I know CA doesn't.
Don't think too much about your knee pain. Don't forget you are compensating in many ways, so you are using and stressing it ways you're normally not. Give it time. Don't be discouraged. Those PT exercises will get easier. I hear you though! Sounds killer.
How is DH going to fix his problem on his own? Sounds like some interception is needed, or it'll recur.
DS's lasting impression of Nature's Classroom was that he didn't get put in the cabin with his core friends. He was so upset! Only one of his friends was with him, and he felt really responsible for that friend being with him and not in the other cabin! Needless to say, this colored his entire experience! After I heard his synopsis of the trip, I now have this theory that he and some other really nice boys were placed in that cabin because there was a boy with special sensitive issues rooming there. I think most of the children in the grade had a blast though. The NC staff was really nice, he said. They had lots of activities planned and a decent amount of free time. They were assigned a group (including girls here) to sit with at all meals. Too bad they couldn't mix it up. Even during free time they couldn't go to other cabins. I get that it would be a logistical nightmare to keep track of everyone though.

Colleen, congrats on a successful party! We know what it takes to pull off something like that, so high five to you! You need a solid 8-9 hours of sleep!:D It's all right to skip your workout; your body will love you for it.

Becky, we'll be thinking of you and dad the whole time. Keep your chin up! Nice job getting those STS workouts in before you left!
I am SO sorry to hear of your brother's death.

Marie, so wonderful to hear your update. Sounds like you are in a routine.
I'm one to avoid meds whenever possible. Hold him upright as much as you can. Reflux is a toughie. Sorry I don't have experience to share. Hang in there. As Breckin gets older, things change and it might not be a problem before you know it.

Missy, way to go with the 5K. You are impressive!
Sounds like your doc's practice gives you a nice amount of time off. So awesome at the end of the year!

Jean, do you like the Jane Austen movies that PBS made a few years ago? My all-time utter favorite is Persuasion. I pull it out to watch every so often. My heart just goes in knots when I watch it. Just like Dan in Real Life.
Good luck purging. It occurs to me you will need to purge so that you have less to move next spring.

Mary, hope all is well! Hello!

I am hosting my family's Thanksgiving this Saturday (so that we don't eat two huge meals next Thurs), and I don't even have the menu set yet! Eek! Better get moving!

It's supposed to be in the 60s today and here I am indoors. Better get going.

Went for a walk today. It was cold but we bundled up.

Cleaned the house.....quickly during his nap. No more detailed cleaning for awhile.

B and Tony are taking a nap right now. His dad is coming over soon for a quick visit. Hoping to relax a bit tonight after he leaves. We tried to last night but it didn't go as planned. B was a little upset poor guy. Knock on wood he seems to be doing better today. We started him on a homeopathic drop. It's all natural and given before feedings. I have only been giving half the dose and only before every other feeding. It's for babies with tummy troubles. Helps with gas, bloating and such. I feel sort of guilty for giving him medication but I keep telling myself it's natural and he apparently needed it since it is working.

Have a good evening everyone.

Dropping in quickly to let you all know that Dad had his surgery today and it went really well. The surgeon said he is already responding well and he tired, but feeling well. Thank you all so much for the prayers, good thoughts and kind words!

Good Evening ladies!!!

I ordered Tim's last christmas gift today!!! I also have all of them wrapped that are here so far. I am now onto the Mom's gifts now!!! Right on schedule!! Yeah!!!

Becky---So glad to here you Dad is doing well. I will keep him in my thoughts!

Marie---give little B a hug and kiss for me. He is too cute! And yes, you are a good mommie!!! :D

Okay so I was going to do Afterburn...but decided to do 4DS--Kickbox....And I am glad I did. I really enjoy that one.

Now off to rest. Chat tomorrow.

Good night!

Colleen - Good to know about the foods. I will have to keep track of what I'm eating. The other day I had peppers In my salad and his poop smelled like them. Too funny.

Carolyn- Glad to know I'm not alone. He does get more upset at night poor guy. Like what is going on my little man. Feel so bad but so frustrating for T and I too. I can relate to your story. Thanks for sharing.

Missy- Thanks so much for the compliment. Great job in on your 5k's latkes. You rock!

Hi Jean and Betty!

Just finished feeding. Back to bed for us. Oh btw Betty was it you that mentioned the boppy. I have now learned to prop and can type with 2 hands. Yay haha!.

It's still warm! Yay! For a few more hours anyway! But showery.

Marie, hooray for hands-free. What a darling avatar! I could just nuzzle and sniff him!
How wonderful your sis & niece are coming!

Carolyn, same for your sis!
How on earth did you do PUB? With one leg, no less. That must have been very difficult! Can't stop a determined girl!
You have such vivid memories of your kids and pregnancy. Here's one.
It wasn't till after it passed that I grasped that DS2 was colicky! I remember DH would come home from work and he'd take the crying baby from me and walk him on the sidewalk. As it was warm weather, the windows were open and I could hear DS2's nonstop crying. Or, many a middle of the night he would wake up crying inexplicably. Not hungry, just crying. We would pace endlessly, carrying & rocking, to no avail. It was so troubling not to know what was wrong, and scarier at night. Miraculously, it stopped at the 3-month mark. To this day, he is still a sensitive child, not in the thin-skinned sense, but rather, keenly aware of things, like taste and smells. Maybe it was other senses as a little baby.

Oh my, Betty. I have the same realization with my daughter. Every night she would have her witching hour from 6-9 without fail every night. I also dreaded the night’s b/c of this. To this day she still has problems going to bed. I know now after the fact that she was colicky. She also is very sensitive as your described DS2.

Carolyn, great job on PUB. I don’t know how you pulled that off.

Missy, I am so impressed that you already doing your Christmas shopping.

Becky, I am so glad your father is doing well. I hope he continues to have a great recovery!

I was still low on energy this morning so I just did a yoga DVD (non Cathe and can’t remember the name). It felt good to stretch out.

Hi Jean.

BBL later need to get some work done.

Today's temps are 20 degrees lower than yesterday. Showery and dark. Cold air too.

Becky, that's indeed wonderful news about your dad! It sounds promising. Take it one day at a time, and he'll do great.

Missy, that's amazing that you're nearly done with Xmas shopping. Normally, I don't like to think about it until the first week of December, and that's when panic sets in!

Carolyn, the PT sounds amazing! Very encouraging. You'll likely be ready when XTrain is ready. The authoring will take a couple of weeks and the duplicators too, and then mailing time--so a good month+. Don't you wish you can just go to PT all the time?? I have had the tightest hamstrings since childhood. They've never become flexible. To do the forward bend, I have to bend my knees. (Do pass on what you learn to loosen them.)
Were you going to drive yourself to PT initially?? Are you going food shopping on your own?

Jean, that's a great photo archive of your daughter. We have put all the annual school photos (individual and class picture) in an album for each child.
I love beef stroganoff!

Anyone have ideas for a veggie (green) dish for Thanksgiving? Other than the standard green bean casserole, I mean?:D
