STS first time!

Good day, all!
I pulled out LICh today, after not touching it in a very long time, and was determined not to get frustrated. I'm happy to report that I feel I've made some progress with this. Now remind me to do it again soon so I remember the steps! Part of my frustration is landing on the wrong foot or facing the wrong way!

Carolyn, it's ok to take it slow. I think you're subconsciously waiting for your appt and not wanting to cause yourself further pain, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Before the football game, my DH was installing my new kitchen sink and faucet. I am so ecstatic about such a little thing! I've just about given up on a whole kitchen remodel (he'd be the one to do it but will never have the time), so while I continue dreaming about it, I have a much deeper sink and a gooseneck faucet. Previously, between a shallow sink and a low faucet, it was the most maddening thing to juggle large pots in there! Or a pot with dishes:mad: What a huge difference, and the sink fit in the same cutout hole. The slightest thing can make such drudgery pleasant. And I now also have a filtered water faucet instead of the clunky filters attached to the tip of the faucet, which was always in the way! Call me a happy girl!:)

Colleen, a friend of mine told me of these vegan cookies sold at Whole Foods. She said they are so yummy. Cookies | Uncle Eddies Vegan Cookies Check the store locator to see where they're carried in your area.
Were you around when I was recommending the author Sophie Kinsella to Jean? Light, funny, easy to read, with a bit of romance to boot. And based in England, which I love. English humor is such a kick. Like when they call someone a cow, not meaning that the person is fat, but more like a witch. I love to read and have books and reading materials open everywhere. Presently, I have vegan cookbooks all over the place.
I'm a bit more open-minded to trying vegan desserts now and am thrilled to hear you report that your DH can't tell the difference. (It's usually my guys who can pick out the slightest flavor diff, like if I sub agave for sugar.)

Shannelle and Jean, hi! We were posting at the same time

Well guess what?! No changes...surprise surprise! I'll admit I'm frustrated but trying my hardest not to be. I know he will come when the time is right. It's just so hard because I know several people that were due before me and they have all had their babies already. One had hers this morning. This one was a bit scary because she was 6 weeks early. Baby is fine though. She is in the NICU and using a CPAP and will stay there for a couple weeks but like I said is doing well for the circumstances. Sending positive thoughts!

So no changes to my cervix- it is soft but still high up, not dilated and not effaced. We did a biophysical profile which includes a non-stress test and ultrasound. It tests for movement, heartrate and contractions. He passed with an 8 which is good. So we continue to wait. Thurs is my next appt and is when we will do the BPP again. Fingers crossed please :)

Carolyn- WTG on your workout! Good luck at your appt! Keep us posted! And yes I thought the meatloaf was pretty darn good too. I'm impress myself sometimes ;)

Betty- Nice job on making progress with LIC. That is a tough one for choreography.

Shannelle- WTG on finishing Meso 1. I never got to Meso 3 cuz of baby but did start to see results in my back by the end of Meso 2. Keep at it!

Colleen- Nice job on CM. How funny that you had almost the same dinner last night. Hope it was tasty!

Jean- Enjoy watching your show tonight. Tony was jealous haha! I made my meatloaf with ground beef and ground pork. If it was just for me I would have used just ground turkey but Tony is not so much a fan of healthy cooking unfortunately.

Carolyn, I'm so sorry for your news! (((Hugs))) The post-surgery doesn't sound too bad though. Once you're on your road to recovery, you will find a substitute for running. There's always Cathe's step workouts, more spin, treadmill (oops, sorry, no), elliptical... How about outdoor biking?

Marie, Breckin is just not ready for the world yet. Hang in there! He'll be here in a matter of days! Get your mind and body ready for labor. Continue to indulge yourself.:)

Shannelle, congrats on finishing Meso 1!. I'm similar to Carolyn in that I didn't see results right away. It slowly creeps up on you and before you know it, you'll be amazed at your muscles.

Colleen, I borrowed HSC from the library once and I really liked it. A fun workout! I don't have any high step workouts.

Jean, can't wait to hear how you like the book. I finished #2 of Fifty Shades. Waiting on 3. I shouldn't bother, but I hate leaving things unfinished. Will watch Salmon Fishing this week myself.

What a mild day today! Breezy and low 70s. I'll take it!

Quick hello.

Carolyn, I am so sorry. I used to run quite often, but my body can't take the impact much anymore. Thats were my love of spinning has come in. Still get that great endorphins and great cardio burn. I also bike outside now in the spin and summer.

Just take it one step at a time. No pun intended. Sounds like a fast recovery.

Gotta make dinner. BBL.

Good Evening! I was so busy today, never had time to get on the forum....

Marie---Patience...Little B is not ready....soon though...just rest and he will be here in no time! You are definately in my thoughts!!!

Carolyn---I feel ya, I have just gotten into outdoor runing and just love it. It is a major stress releaver!!! We are here for you Just don't do anything that can hurt the surgery!!! Follow doctors order till you are healed and then go from there.

Hello to all....Tim is outside and he needs me....be back in a while. :)

Carolyn- So sorry to hear about the running! I feel you on that! Before Cathe I was a huge runner and there is nothing like it! But thank goodness you will be able to exercise soon after surgery. That is some good news!

Missy and Betty- Thanks for the positive words:)

I really appreciate you all so much during this time! Tony and I went for an hour long walk. I was getting some cramps which today I found out are mild contractions according to the NST. Anyways came home and relaxing and now they are gone. Oh well....like you all say he will be here soon :)

Jean- We were posting at the same time :) I had a different dr today. My regular one was out of town. Next appt is Thurs. If all is good we continue to wait. The. On Mon the 22nd we discuss induction. They won't let people go past 42 weeks which would be that Wed so I Tony and I discussed it and figured if nothing changes by that Mon we will get the induction then.

Good Morning Ladies,

Checking in with Vol 2 of HC this morning. I think I’m getting slightly better at these. I did some modification and couldn’t make it through all the sliding planks over the step, but I didn’t feel as winded as I did the first time.

Caryoyn, Do you always wear the lifting gloves during the HC workouts? I started one last week without putting them on and had to stop to put them on. Mine are really tight around the wrist and I find that I don’t have any issue with my wrist as long as I wear them and have them really tight on the wrist. I also had DOM in my forearms last week…

I don’t bike on the “streets”. I only go on bike paths. Road biking scares me too. I go during the spring and summer when it’s not dark outside and it’s only on the weekends unless we are on vacation.

I’ve never done kettle ball workouts before. I’ll have to check it out. Sounds like a good workout. What weight do you use for the kettle ball?

Sorry you don’t have any progress yet Marie. Hopefully by Thursday you will start to have some changes. The first ones are always so hard.

Betty, I really enjoyed high step challenge. I’ve been eying to get high step training. I might have to get that one too… The cookies look good, but I have to do gluten free too…I did find a cookie cookbook that looked good. Super Healthy Cookies: 50 Gluten-Free,Dairy-Free Recipes for Delicious & Nutritious Treats: Hallie Klecker: 9780985888503: Amazon.com: Books

Shannelle, congrats on finishing meso 1. Last time I did STS, I didn’t see results until after I was done. I did cardio and yoga during my rest week.

Jean/Betty, thanks for the book recommendation. I will have to check that the books by Sophie Kinsella

Tomorrow might be a rest day. It’s been 6 days straight and my body is feeling it this morning. Plus TOTM is coming any day…

Hi Missy!

Happy Tuesday.

Carolyn, I definitely think that squats and lunges are not good for the knees. I'll even go as far as saying that cycling isn't good for the knees because my knees get pain from biking.:(
How was your hair appt? I had one last week and my lady called in sick (has never happened to me before) so I had to wait half hour for another person, who proceeds to trim and trim and trim, so my hair is a tad bit shorter than I'd like.
I agree with you about a chef. I have recipes and recipe books everywhere and can never come up with anything creative or easily. I have to scrunch up my little ole brain and come up with something. Tonight is chicken curry with red pepper and potatoes. I'll be winging it.

Marie, hello! Thinking of you. Those cramps must be a precursor to labor.

Colleen, as you know HST is hugely loved by Missy and Carolyn! That, and the fact that it's a wee bit older (2004) is why I haven't bit the bullet with HSC, which is a DOTD again today. I have yet to see HST as DOTD.
You and your body certainly do need a rest day.:D

Jean, my triceps were non-existent, but after STS they're there but not as defined as I'd like. Very weak muscle for me.
Did you watch Dan in its entirety or stop when you realized you'd seen it before?

Lordy! I just bit the bullet and got HSC! I don't really need it! I just wanted to take advantage of the free shipping that comes with the preorder. Dumb rationalization.

Carolyn, your recovery will be quick because "you are so incredibly fit (not that you aren't already)"--to paraphrase Cathe (can't remember which workout she said that). Your muscle memory will kick in as soon as you are ready to start again. Don't worry.

I agree with you gals that street biking is scary. I only do flat, paved, wide bike paths. Converted old railroad tracks are usually the best! If they cross traffic, I no likey.

Colleen, I use a 7.5lb kettlebell I found at Marshalls if I ever do the one Angie Miller KB workout I have.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm even lighter than I expected. I should be happy, but my mind flashes to the flab handles on my sides.:D I vow to continue my fight against my flab.

Hmm, now that I have a high step, someday I'll get Paul Katami's B&B. Ugh, it never ends!

Forgot to say that I got in a 30-min walk today and yesterday!

In the middle of making dinner, but real quick.

Carolyn, I highly suggest getting cycling shoes if you are going to increase how much you do. The have a very stiff sole and your feet won't hurt as much if not at all. Mine did when I first started spinning. They never bother me know that I use the cycle shoes.

Mine came with cages but I got new pedals so I could use the clips. Some have both (mine did not). Check the other side of your pedal. Maybe you already have the clips....

The cage lets you use regular sneakers, but using clips gives you a better ride and is better for your feet at least in my opinion ( i have plantar fasciitis and the hard sole is so much better for me).

I remember that earth quake last year. I was on a business trip visiting one of our offices in Connecticut. It was super scary.

Hope everything is ok.

Carolyn! I thought of you too! My DH just told me a few minutes ago. He was upstairs and felt something. I was downstairs and felt nothing! You're much closer to Maine, the epicenter. For those of you who don't know, it was a 4.6 magnitude, at 7:15 pm. Kind of big around here.

ColleenK, I miss you! Waah!

Must. Stop. Browsing.

I'm Back! It was absolutely crazy at work today....and on top of the craziness I finally started me period and had aweful cramps. I have been on and off spotting since last week with brown blood. (TMI) But, today it finally let go! hahaha The cramps were so bad I was nauseated! Finally the cramps passed.....but the patients would not stop coming in. I had at least 5 old ladies come to me today with questions on what secondary insurance would be best with medicare or if they should go with a medicare advantage plan....I feel so bad for these people. It confuses me, and I work with it all day!!!! OMG.....

I only did 20 minutes of cardio this morning due to the cramps....so tonight I did not do any DVD...finished out my cardio.

Marie---Hello. Hope everything is okay...make sure...you let us know when you go to the hospital (labor)...even if Tony has to log on and post...hehehe :) We will be thinking of you, Tony, and little B!!!! :)

Caroyln----I do think lunges are hard on the knees. But I do them anyways....B&G is on of my favorites too! If you stoped doing everything that is considered "bad" we would not be able to do anything. So, I try to stay fit and do what I like.....deal with what comes with it. I would rather have a few sore muscles than be fat and ugly!!! :):):)

As for the earthquake....never felt one....i'm from the south! We have hurricanes and tornados! They are scarey! My husband and I lived through a cat 5 hurricane in florida the year before we moved to GA. It destroyed the entire town/s. I lost my house, moved in with Tim's parents and lived with them for 1 year. Then we moved to GA. It was terrible. So much destruction. Also, they put like...50 trailers in the hospital parking lot for all of the Dr Offices in town while there offices were rebuilt. They were all labeled with letters and numbers. When the employees would arrive to work you parked about 2 miles from the offices. If it was raining you better have brought and umbrella. It was aweful, I would never want to go through that again. On the bright side, we moved 5 hours north and love our new home!!! We are far enough from the coast if a storm comes in normally is just a tropical storm (lots of rain) Not much wind!!! That is a plus!!!

Onto better subjects.....

Betty---glad you got your hair cut, but sucks it is a little shorter than you like. I only let one person touch my hair....if she is unavailable I reschedule. I had that happen to me once and it will never happen again! I learned the hard way!!:p

Just found out about another 5k...scheduled for 11/10/12....hehehe

This saturday I have a 2 hour zumba party...all proceeds go to the local cancer center for breast cancer patients...$10 a head! Should be fun!!!!

Colleen & Carolyn---Enjoy your cycling! I will stick to running! My ass does not like bikes! hehehe

Hello Jean....Keep up your workouts!

Okay now that I have wrote a novel....off to shower!

Jean---Hurricane Charlie---it was very scarey. Tim and I were laying in bed watching the weather channel...nothing else to do. We were at his parents house. Because they lived 30 minutes north of us. The storm was suppose to hit Tampa...but it did not. It turned in the Charlotte Harbour. It was terrifying. I was not able to get to my house for 2 days. There was not a passable street. All the powerlines were down. When we were able to. we actually had to crawl over a few power lines, to walk to our house. The only thing were had left were what I packed orginally and took with us. Some clothes and our vechiles. But, things are replacable. We were just very lucky we had each other. A huge oak tree feel on our house. We did go inside and try to get a few things but, Tim did not feel it was safe. So we just left. The funniest thing....the only things that kept the living room from caving in was a huge weight bench. Yes, exercise equipment!!!:D hehehehe

Oh well...we have the best life here in south GA now. We were actually looking to move north before the storm...it just pushed us harder to leave! Today, we are very glad we did!!!

Have a nice evening!:p

Sorry for the delay....lots of things going on today.

I'm in labor!!! So excited!

Here's the story....

Contractions started around 9 last night. Nothing too serious though since I was able to sleep through them. Woke up around 2 to a bit of bloody show. Then woke up at 220 to my water breaking. Got to the hospital at 4am. Cervix was not dilated....surprise surprise! Walked a bit, ate some breakfast. Got Cytotec at 11..this is to ripen the cervix. Dilated to a 1 and 80 percent effaced at 3pm. Pitocin was started. Had contractions increasing in intensity and frequency. At 7pm I got another check and was dilated to a 2 to 3. Progress was just not happening as I liked and the pain was pretty intense. Not to mention I was restricted to only laying on my side because Breckin's heart rate was decreasing with contractions meaning his cord could be wrapped around his neck. So at 7pm I got an epidural and am now pain free. I feel good. Not liking the numb legs but it's better than feeling contractions. 4 hours of contractions was enough for mama especially considering I was progressing so slowly. So here we wait.......

Hope everyone is having a good day :)

I know I am :)

Good Morning!!!

I can't wait to hear how Marie is doing and her little bundle of joy!!! How exciting!! :D:D:D

Checking in with a well needed rest day.

Missy, that a scary story. I am so happy that it all workout in the end for you and Tim. I couldn't even imagine what it was like. You don't realize how lucky we are.. :)

Carolyn, I did a lot of reading last night on knees. I've been having some trouble with my right knee on and off and the last few days it's been really raw (like a burning sensation) and clicking when I bend it. I finally broke down and make a doctor’s appointment. I go in tomorrow at 9:50AM. What I read was squats and lunges aren’t good, but you need to build strength in the hamstrings and quads to support your knees. So how else do you do that??? They did say biking is good; running is ok, if you have good knees, bad if you have bad knees. But much of anything is not a good thing if you have bad knees because of overuse. So who really knows? I hear ya on the getting old thing. Let’s hope next year will be better. ;)

How did you hair turn out? I have an appointment scheduled for Saturday, but I have to reschedule.
