STS DEAL OF THE DAY!!!!!

Hello Nancy & Justina!

My w/o's these past days have given me some massive DOMS . Yesterday's w/o was a 3 mile walk + GS B&T (30min premix) + a youtube yoga by Chris Freytag (15min). Thurs w/o was PLB (ohhh the pain!). I forgot to mention Nancy, that I never do the step-ups with a barbell. I just don't feel secure (and my form is horrible). I also do the majority of the w/o with dumbbell's because I hate changing the weight #'s on my barbell so frequently. The bad thing is that by the end of the routine, my forearms are killing me from the heavy weights! Meh, you can't have it all I guess ;).

Justina

You are doing such a great job sticking to your w/o's!
Regarding XT Legs, I actually prefer the floor work to the standing work. I will admit, it's not my most fav LB workout Cathe has put out. And you know how much I love my LB stuff.
Thanks for the b-day wishes :). You are right about the video games. Kids can get addicted. The WII actually has some good programs that are good for kids -- ones that allow the kids to be physically active like WII Fit. My sis has a Michael Jackson dancing one, and that's so much fun! You are up and moving the whole time.
And yes, eating IS 80% of the formula. Personally, I would much rather reduce my calories than kill myself working out. The more I workout, the hungrier I get! It totally backfires . The one thing I am a huge advocate of is walking and standing as much as possible. It really does make a difference!

Nancy
SO are you getting the bike??!! I will be really excited for you if you decide to get one! New fitness goodies are so much fun .

Have a wonderful day ladies!

Hi ladies!
Hope you are doing well. How was your weekend? Weather here was awesome! I took the kids to the park and had lunch afterwards. It was a good day!

I don't track food intake so well on the weekends. Have to do better. Last night was XTrain Bi and Tri. I notice this one has very little rest time between sets; got my heart rate up. :)

I'm thinking about getting a table tote to convert my desk at work into a standing one. Hope I won't get in trouble for this. :p
It's not a perfect platform but I think it's the most affordable one out of all the choices out there. The shortest adjustment will work fine I hope.

Natasha, I feel the same way. The harder I work out the hungrier I get. These days I try to make effort to choose better foods. By the way, I LOVE Nature Path's cereal. Thank you and Nancy for recommendating it! Now it's the only kind I buy. :D

Have a good day ladies!

Justina

Wow! What a gorgeous weekend we had!!!! Temps in the 70s ! Niiiiiiice.
Got a few walks in and had my window wide open during Xtrain Burn Sets Chest, Back, & Shoulders, and Xtrain AOHiiT with Core#1 and Burn Sets Tris added on. Tonight is supposed to be Xtrain Legs (oh no, shin shavers!!!!) and Rear Delts if I can keep my energy up!

I think the Gods of fitness really want me to get that spin bike! Between Natasha's tip on the great bike deal and Cathe's emphasis on spinning in today's newsletter, I think I'm getting the message!!! My only holdout right now is the space issue. I'll have to rearrange my teeny tiny living room and see where I could stash the bike. It is the only place in my teeny tiny apartment that I can workout without driving my neighbors bonkers!

Justina, the standing desk sounds very interesting! I'm on my feet a lot at work, but I also spend long periods of time at my desk entering data. I'd probably benefit from a standing desk too! I find it hard to log my food on weekends too.
I don't get access to the internet very often, so I have to write it down in a notebook and transfer it to the nutrition program on Monday! Don't you find that you're eating less now? If I plan out the whole day in advance and commit to stay with the plan I do great! Last week I dropped 1.6 pounds! I'm only going to weigh myself on Friday mornings. I also plan on measuring once per month. It was disheartening to gain inches in the "wrong" places, but I'm sure with some effort I can get it together! You're absolutely right about getting control of it ASAP! Once you start to hit perimenopause things REALLY change! You won't believe it!

Natasha, I made a note that the next time I do PUB I'm going to wear my #20 vest and try dumbbells! I don't mind changing the barbell weights, but I do pause the DVD while I'm changing them and I think I'm taking a little longer break then Cathe & Crew . For Gym Styles, I purposely take a longer break between sets because I just don't it's long enough between sets! I like at least 30 seconds! But I think the Pyramids give enough time between sets. Do you find yourself pausing the DVD more during GS?

Well, time to wrap it up here at work and start making my way home for some "ME" time!

Hi Natasha, Nancy,

Congrats Nancy on losting 1.6 pounds!!!! Way to go! I knew you can do it. That's a great start. I don't have a scale but I can also tell my pants fit better too. You're right, I eat less now that I'm writing things down.
I'm at my desk pretty much all day long. I know it's killing me, so I have to do something about it. I thought about making my own desk platform from IKEA. They sell table tops, but I don't know where I can find table legs that are only 12 inches long. I want to put the platform on my desk at work to elevate my keyboard. Standing makes me feel better. :D

The storm that came through here yesterday evening did a lot of damage. I don't know any of us saw it coming. It pretty much flattened this convenience store north of here. Everything came down but one wall. There were people in it when this happened. Luckily no one was seriously hurt.

Last night was Pyramid Lowerbody. I did a Premix because I was tired. My arms were still sore from Monday night (XTrain Bi and Tri). It hurt just holding the heavy dumbbells. :)

Below is the link for the Table Tote I've been telling you ladies about. The lowest adjustment might just be short enough to put on my desk.

what do you think?

Later!

Have a good day.

Hello to my fit & fab check-in gals ;)

Today's w/o was Plyo Legs W3. IMO all the Plyo Legs w/o's are harder than Cardio Leg Blast. Those 1 legged mountain climber's w/the jump at the top have me begging for mercy! And don't even get me started about the Rock Climber's! I did the majority of the exercises using my 25lbs, but once again my forearms can't hold the weight and they wanted to give out. I am seriously going to invest in those wrist straps!

Bella got her 4yr immunization today. She was such a champ! She cried a little, but all in all she did SO well. I am very proud of her :).

I have to post this recipe that I'm sure you gals would love! Since I've been eating this every morning, my digestive system is doing very well ;). I also find it keeps me full for a long time.

= PROTEIN POW(D)ER ! (it's the 3rd or 4th recipe down named The Healthiest Breakfast Cereal In The World).

Nancy

Congrats on the lbs lost!
I know how you feel about having a small "challenging" workout area -- I have the same dilemma :(. Even if I got a Spin Bike, I'm not sure where it would go . But I'm sure you could find the space if you really wanted to ;);). Do you ride a bike outside? I used to ride tons before Bella came along. OMG your quads get the best workout! The only thing is adjusting to the...ahem...crotch soreness .
I never feel as though I can get my act together fast enough when doing weight work! Depending on the w/o, I have to pause several times. The push-up segments kill me the most! 10 sec is def not long enough for these weak pecs :(.

Justina
I'm sorry to hear about the storm :(. It pains me when I hear about people getting affected by the aftermath of natural disasters. Thank goodness no one was injured!
I really like the standing platform you posted! TBH, I think the companies should actually provide those desks for people that want them. I know that's a long shot  but I think in the end the employee's would be healthier and more productive. What do you think?
Glad you love Nature's Path! They DO have some amazing cereal :p.

Have a great day ladies!

I am so happy spring has sprung; however, it is a bit nippy here today! We have freeze warnings for tonight!

Last night I did Xtrain Burn Sets Bis & Tris + Core 1. REALLY enjoyed it! My biceps are talking to me a bit today! Biceps have always been tough for me..I don't progress very fast with upping the weights !
Tonight I get to do Supercuts!!!!...and on Friday I'll do Xtrain Cardio Leg Blast without the cardio :)p) + Core 2! I have Saturday listed as a Rest Day, but I'm sure I'll be pretty active celebrating turning 51 years young :D (more on that in a bit...)!

Natasha, I am SO going to make that cereal!!!! It looks YUMMY!!!! I love the whole idea of it!!!! I made a copy of the recipe for one of the students here that is uber vegan...she got the biggest smile! Thanks for letting us in on your morning secret ;)!
I am glad you're "enjoying" Plyo Legs...yes, those one-legged thingys put me in my place every time I did that workout! I kind of feel the same way about the Switch Kicks in All Out Low Impact HiiT! I notice that Cathe always puts something in her routines that give you something to have to work toward...I have yet to be "unchallenged" by Cathe!

Justina, I think you're doing awesome with your workouts...even when you're tired you get it done!!! Inspiring! I'm also glad the storm didn't get you (although I secretly hope that your old stupid car got trashed!)

Now, about that birthday:
So I AM going to have some cake...yes, I know, it's not going to do me any favors....but I will at least try to make it a GOOD cake! Our local Whole Foods has beautiful little organic cakes and I'll get some kind of organic frozen thing, too. I also am going to make a pizza with lots of veggies and a wee bit o' organic cheese on top of an organic whole grain crust. I used to deny myself any kind of treat for my birthday but I decided last year to allow myself an indulgence from time to time...just try to make it a healthier treat than the usual pesticide riddled, GMO, high-fructose corn syrup, plastic-infused crap they try to force on us (gee, when I put it that way I can't imagine anyone eating it!)! I would love to try to get a hike in, but the weather is so iffy lately. I might be resigned to do "urban" hiking instead. My DH wants to take me to the mall at some point this weekend to pick out a new perfume and a bead for my charm bracelet. We'll probably pop up a batch of popcorn in coconut oil, have some vodka, and watch a movie...and I will enjoy every minute of it!

I hope to check in before Saturday, but if not, I hope that you ladies have an awesome weekend filled with some butt-kickin' workouts and lots of laughs with your families!!!!

Is it your b-day today Nancy? If so...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Mine is tomorrow :D

Wow! That is one colorful message! I appreciate the time that took!
My birthday isn't until Saturday (the 23rd) but I started celebrating yesterday!:D
Hope you're having an awesome day!! MARCH BIRTHDAYS ROCK!!!!!

Nancy
This one is for you :). Happy Birthday! (I didn't have the time to do the colors :(). Hope 2013 is full of health & happiness :).

Free Ecards | Online Cards, Birthday Cards and Greeting e cards

Thank you for posting a b-day wish on OD for the whole forum to see :D. It was very surprising! I did not expect so many thoughtful comments -- they made me blush . And they made my day, so thank you!

I will BBL for personals! Have a great day!

LOVED THE CARD!!!! My cat Pip sang along with them!!! Thank you VERY MUCH!!! :D

Happy Birthday Nancy!!!!

Sorry I've been MIA this week ladies. Rough week from work.

Nancy, hope you are enjoying your weekend for your birthday! :D

I did not work out much this week. Working my a** off this week.

How have you ladies been? I will go back and read the posts.

Have a good weekend!

Justina

Happy Belated Birthday Natasha!!!! :D I don't know how to do colorful font.

I am sorry for not checking in this week. I missed your birthday announcement!!! :(

How was your birthday? What did you do? I hope you enjoyed time with your family too. Yes, I would love to have the company pay for the platform for my desk. Maybe I should bring in a doctor's note? :D

Nancy, I'm so glad you are going to have cake. You should enjoy cake on your birthday!!! Your birthday celebration sure sounds wonderful. What kind of cake did you end up getting at Whole Foods? You're right, we should not deprive ourselves of good eats. I believe in moderation.

The last time I worked out was on Wednesday night and I actually did P90X. It was a good change. Tomorrow I'm back with Cathe. :)

Talk to you soon!

Justina

Hello lovely ladies :)

Well, my b-day was crappy :(. Bella has been really sick these past few days w/fever, vomiting, diarrhea. Thank goodness she is doing better today!

On the upside, I bought a new pair of Saucony Catalyst running shoes :D. A gift from me to me (which I deserve thank you very much!).

I'm trying to think of my workouts these past few days...

Today: STS M2 Back & Bi's + 100Rc's Bi's
Yesterday: 2 mile Leslie walk (aka-recovery day walk)
Friday: CTX All Step (I downloaded it! Really fun!)
Thurs: STS M2 Chest, Shoulder's & Tri's + 100Rc's lateral raises

Justina
I'm sorry to hear you had a rough week at work :(. I hope things go better for you this week.
Thank you so much for the b-day wish :).
Sometimes it's good to do other instructors. I don't blame you one bit! I have been thinking of purchasing either a Beach Body series (not Insanity!), JM, Zumba, or another series non-Cathe. My only hesitation is that I will end up hating it and money will be wasted. So I'm on the fence .

Nancy
How was your b-day? Hopefully better than mine :(. And if anyone deserves cake, that's YOU!
Speaking of bi's, I have a lot of trouble progressing with my weight #'s also! I'm going to try and do more 100Rc's and see if that helps. I just hate being stuck below 15lbs . TBH, I don't think bi's will ever be my strong muscle, but hey I'm gonna see what I can get out of them!

Have a great Sunday

Hi Natasha, Nancy,
Hope you are doing well.

Last night was STS Chest, Triceps. I will feel some pain later on today. :D

Natasha, I know for sure Beachbody has 30 day money back guarantee. Not sure about JM though. I wouldn't do Insanity either. I feel like it can be dangerous and one can be injured doing it? I thought about Zumba but I have carpet flooring. I hear it's not good for zumba? Beachbody actually has a good variety, I hope you find something you will love! I'm sorry to hear about Bella being sick. Hope she continues to feel better each day. It's great you got something for yourself :D. I find myself doing the same as a reward for my hard work. :)

Nancy, what has been going on? I'm sure you are rocking the workouts, working hard and sticking to your plans! :)

Speaking of hard work ladies, I made a comment at work about eating healthy, changing bad eating habits etc....someone said "oh, like you really need it". What people don't understand is that I have to work hard to achieve this. They look at me and they see someone who is not overweight and they think it comes naturally? I have to make effort to eat better, to be healthier, to live longer etc. I make myself work out when I sometimes don't feel like it. It's not only about losing few pounds; it's also about confidience, feeling inner-power, feeling strong, lifting heavy objects without having to ask for help! People think I'm naturally thin. Makes me crazy. All I want to do it to be my optimal self, my best self you know?

Work has been overwhelming. Having a HUGE project that has been difficult to manage with having a normal job too. I worked all weekend last weekend and worked Monday night. I took my laptop home to work. Thankfully my company offers this flexibitity. I was mad that I had to miss my workout Monday night. I didn't want to stay up too late.

That's it for now. You ladies have a good day! :)

Justina

No, I didn't go into a Cake Coma!!!!!:p

I have been VERY busy this week and have had a only a few minutes at a time to check the forum...so by the time I check here I don't have enough time to write!!!! Well, NOT today! I am going to check in with you ladies if it takes all afternoon to do it!;)

Yes, my birthday, and my cake, were outstanding. I got a white chocolate/raspberry creation from Whole Foods that I milked for 4 days straight!
My birthday workout was an hour walk in cold sleeting drizzle followed by Yoga Relax and rooibos tea. About an hour after that, the sun made a very unexpected appearance, so we went out and walked again ! I'm in the middle of my STS module (tonight will be M2 Disc 17 Legs) and have been SUPER challenged! It's a good thing that I did some creative food calculations to allow for the treats...in spite of the cake I managed to lose another 2 pounds as of last Friday! That's 3.6 pounds in 2 weeks! And the only thing I'm doing differently is planning my food out in advance and sticking to the reduced rations plan! I still have a way to go, but I am gettin' there, baby!:p We'll see how much damage I did over the weekend with Friday morning's weigh in!

Natasha, I am sorry your birthday sucked! You have my permission for a DO-OVER at your earliest convenience! I hope Bella is feeling better.
Justina, I understand what you mean about people thinking you don't have to work for the shape you're in. I have been ridiculed and made fun of for many years because I care about my health. You're right, it doesn't come easy...if it was easy, everybody would look like Cathe & Crew!:D

Have you guys pre-ordered yet?
I'm still waffling about that spin bike....have some expenses coming up and I just don't know if my fund$ can $tretch that far!

I'll check back again a little later......

Hello Nancy & Justina :)

Thank goodness Bella and I are back to feeling 100%!

My w/o yesterday was Super Cuts + XT Barre. I did all 8 rounds of those crazy sit/push-up combo's! I was 1 round behind Cathe, but can you really fault me? I have no clue how she goes at such superhuman speed .

It's supposed to be fairly mild, so Bella and I will head out for a nice walk today. I'm really dying for spring to arrive! This winter has been yucky .

BTW, are you guys familiar with this website:
Nia Shanks - Lift Like A Girl

I was reading some of her blogs, and the topics reached me on such a deep, emotional level. Once particular topic about the "scale" really made me feel amazing. Some time ago, I decided to ditch the scale (for all the reasons mentioned in the article). I started to feel guilty that I did that, and now I realize that it was the best thing for me (certainly not everyone). I'm happy about that :D.

Justina
What I've come to realize is that most people (not all of course) generally dislike talking about health & fitness. For some reason it bothers them or they're just not interested. Finally, I accepted that my "preaching" was in one ear/out the other, and gave up trying to convince people to live better. I cannot count the number of times I've been asked why I walk, take the stairs, refuse to drive here/there. I remember one lady I used to live beside, she would always offer me cookies (Bella would play with her kids). I used to take 1 or 2 and then she would say "oh take more! You don't need to lose weight!". Ya  it's not about losing weight. It's about self control and not wanting to scarf down 10 cookies! Anyway, I understand completely where you're coming from. Don't get discouraged or frustrated! Just be true to who you are and leave the rest behind :).

Nancy
LOL about the cake coma! Your cake sounded absolutely lovely :p.
Congrats on losing weight! I know how disciplined you have to be to count calories and keep a food journal (I did it while trying to those 50lbs post-partum). It's hard, but it really makes you accountable! You are doing a fantastic job -- but there was no doubt in my mind that you would ;).
I can't wait for spring to come full-force! I have so many outdoor activities planned for this summer . I was actually thinking of getting a bunch of people together to play tennis. Have you ever played? OMG it's SO much fun!

Have a great day ladies :)

Hi Nancy, Natasha,

Last night I took a rest, I really was feeling soreness in my chest muscles from the night before. I could have done Legs but I decided to study instead.

Natasha, so glad you and Bella are back to health. :) I know. I haven't met many people with the same fitness and overall health goal I do except for people in this forum. That name Nia Shanks sounds familar but I haven't been to the site. I will definitely check it out!

Nancy,
your birthday cake sounds delicious! Never bought cake at Whole Foods, but the next time I go I will certainly look around in that section (try not to most of the time). :D You are doing fantastic with the weight loss! Like Natasha said, never a doubt in my mind that you could do it. I'm not doing so bad myself. I have slimmed down a bit. With me, it was more about eating than working out. My work out routine did not change, I changed my diet. From writing down my food intake, I notice habits and it makes me eat less now.

I haven't pre-ordered yet. Have you ladies?

Tomorrow is Good Friday and we have off!! :D I won't be doing much but rest though.

Have a good day!

Justina

Hello My Fit Friends!!!!:)
Last night's w/o was really tough for me for some reason! I did STS M2 Legs Disc 17 and was wasted by the time the calf raises came along! I don't know where my energy went but I sure wanted it back :p! Tonight I am supposed to do All Out Hiit + Core 1 but I'm thinking I might give my legs a break and do STS M2 Back & Bis Disc 18 with Total Body Trisets Tris and Shoulders added on instead! I can do the cardio tomorrow! Saturday will be a long workout with Leg Blast (all sections except the "blasts") and 100 reps challenges for upper body (bis, tri, shoulders). Next week I'll be doing my Xtrain Module #1 (the one without Burn Sets). I'm pretty excited about the weeks after that becasue I'll be trying out those blended modules: Pyramids/LIS; and GymStyles/STS !!! I can't believe I'm almost halfway through that 12 week Spring Forward Rotation!

Natasha, I have to admit a bit of dread for those nutty 8 set sit-up/pull ups! And I do them on my knees ! I always need to walk around a bit after those! And about tennis; I have never "officially" played, but my DH would hit balls with me for fun. He was a teaching pro and played on the regional circuit back in the 1980s. He coached a girls team at a private high school (he even got asked to the prom!) for a while, too. Unfortunately he has developed problems with his serving shoulder and his hip so he doesn't play anymore. He still is in great shape though; runs almost every day and has the best abs I've ever seen in real life on a guy! This is a guy who never overeats !

Justina, I'm glad you get to enjoy a long weekend...I'm taking Friday & Monday as vacation days so I can clean :p! Why do women always clean on their days off????? OH well, the more time I spend spring cleaning the less time I'll have for eating, right :p?

Have a great workout tonight and get ready for the Easter Bunny!!!!!
