Star ratings?

Hi, Cathe!
I'd like to make a request based on something forum members have discussed several times (but I'm not sure if anyone has yet asked you directly about it).

We'd like to see the 'star rating' function of this site disabled.

It seems to serve no useful purpose in many cases, and there are quite a few cases of people seemingly using it just to get in their digs against someone they have taken a dislike to.

IMO, it doesn't do anything to support the friendly forum atmosphere.

If it's possible, PLEASE disable the star rating system...or make it NOT anonymous (making it harder for one-star raters to stalk). It creates a level of animosity and under-handedness that is so unlike the Cathe [organization] we know in our workouts at home.

Throwing my vote in too - please kill the ratings. I don't see any benefit to them at all and people's feelings are being hurt.

BTW - should this also be posted in the website support forum? Maybe there is something that SNM could bring to Cathe's attention and change immediately.

Yes, I agree, ban the star ratings and posters who regularly slander and accuse other forum members should be monitored and prohibited from falsely accusing innocent forum members of doing something they are innocent of. That is as wrong and mean spirited as the individual who is getting his/her jollies from one starring threads. LauraMax has falsely accused a friendly, sweet forum member who lurks more than posts in this thread and this needs to be taken care of immediately please. The bullying needs to stop.

We’ve now set our Star Rating to only show after 10 people have rated a post. This should eliminate the problem caused by a single person rating a thread for the sole purpose of trying to hurt another forum member.

You know, I just have to take issue with this accusation, since it is utterly false & yet another nasty attempt at cyberstalking. Slander? I mean, REALLY? I might be opinionated & unafraid to express those opinions, & I might occasionally lack tact when I do so, but I have NEVER called people names, threatened or cyberbullied anybody. Please give me one--just ONE--example where I did. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. :D

You know Angela, just b/c a friend of mine didn't put you in one of her fitness DVDs after you begged her to (crave attention much?) is no reason for you to dislike me, or to post lies & attacks at me all over the cyberworld. There is an ignore feature on this forum. If you find my posts so unpleasant, why not give it a try? :cool:

Wow. I am in plain shock to see this. Why on earth are you attacking LauraMax? Laura did falsly accuse someone and she APOLOGIZED for it! Everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes the screen names get confusing, she made an honest mistake. Why is this even being brought up in this thread? We want the one-star rating to stop, meaning all the bullying and pettiness to STOP and here you are bashing Laura.

I agree, Debbie. LauraMax is a fun, friendly, and caring person. I am soooo glad that she rarely posts on here anymore and joins me for the real friendships and fun on Facebook! This forum makes me puke.

NO BODY IS PERFECT" Laura, is a very sweet and caring person, I haven't see here on the forums as much as before, I don't blame her I would do the same if some one is continuing accusing and been mean to me.:mad:

Now, now - let's not go beating up and attacking Laura. Why has this place turned into that? She has her opinions and she isn't afraid to make them known and good for her for that. She is also funny, intelligent, dedicated and very sweet - this whole board is just not the same and I am glad that many from here are on FB now, and able to pick and choose whom we would like to converse with.
 
IMHO it doesn't make a wrong right by piling on Angela or any other poster . I don't have a dog in this fight, but it seems that since the star rating has been revised and that is allegedly the issue of this thread, what is the point of all this sniping back and forth?
 
Can you rate a thread more than once? Only reason I'm asking is because if you have nothing better to do than 1-star specific users' threads, I'm assuming you'd also waste the time sitting there and 1-star it 10x just for it to take the low rating, thus defeating the purpose.

IMO, the star rating is pointless. I didn't even know it existed until all the drama started recently.
 
Melissa - You can only rate a thread once. The system will not let you rate it again. The thread questioning the one star on the birthday thread got 32 votes with an average of 2.31 stars. That means most likely a lot of people were one starring it. Definitely not the work of a one star bandit. Try a motorcycle gang worth of 1 starrers. ;)

Laura is not mean spirited. She made a mistake, she apologized, and the apology was accepted. Let's move on.
 
Well I hope the changes to the rating system put an end to the one star bandits. I'd be happy if they did away with them all together. It's pretty easy to figure out which posts are worth reading even without them; they tend to be the ones with lots of responses.

And, BTW Laura is a great gal. I base that opinion on having met her in real life - not just on the forums.

Can we go back to talking about our pets now? :)
