Sell me on STS!

SELL IT TO ME! I'm having a hard time justifying the money...especially since I want the new presale! Since I'm buying the pre-sale, it only makes sense to do STS to be prepared and ready for the cardio portion!

I'm very fat...5'2 and 190lbs. I haven't worked out in a while...but I have great form and have been using cathe for so long that I know good form! I hear this is for everyone...just modify to what I need. Please sell me on this. Why do you love it? Or, can I live without it?

Jessica

If you can afford it get. If you just not sure if it is worth it I can say OT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Howeve I am not into Cathe's pther dvds with all the step stuff.

I was in the same boat as you with STS -- didn't know if I could justify the cost -- but after reading all the posts about the great results everyone is having, I caved and purchased it this week. It should be here on Monday and I can't wait to get started!

I, too, had a difficult time figuring out if I should buy STS because it's so expensive. But then I realized that since I was primarily interested in Mesocycle 2 (and not so much on Mesocycle 1 and 3), I bought only Mesocycle 2 on its own. So I saved money, AND got the chance to experience a little piece of STS.

You don't have to buy the entire STS set if you can't afford it.

Here's what I did, and I'm happy with my choice. I couldn't afford all of STS, even with the presale price. After watching the forums and reading all the comments, I decided I was most interested in meso 2, and the plyo legs. Too bad they don't come in the same package!! I ordered meso 3 and the user's guide. This guide gives a written breakdown of every exercise in the program. I figured that with my lifting experience I could use the guide and do the other 2 mesos on my own. I also realized that all of my lifting workouts are meso 2 type workouts. After reading tons of articles on figureathlete.com and other sites like it, I decided that I need to go really heavy for awhile to change things up a bit and see some of the changes I want to see.

I did the first plyo legs workout yesterday, and I'm feelin' it today! Talk about muscle work and cardio togother!!! I'm starting the first chest and back workout this morning, and will do the shoulders/biceps/triceps tomorrow. Since I'm kind of a full body workout person, I plan to throw in some heavy squats with c&b, and some heavy deadlifts with s/b/t.

Sorry this is long, but just wanted to give you another alternative.

Jessica,

I think you can't go wrong with the entire package! If you can't afford the entire package, I would do SNM's payment option plan.

Meso one is very important. It's different from all of Cathe's previous work so it will be a great program to mix and match with the older workouts in the future. It's totally worth the investment. There is so much variety in the entire program. I'm not going to lie, the push ups in meso one are very challenging! I couldn't do them all, but I did my best. Some I substituted for bench presses. I couldn't do boot camp push ups to save my life:eek: But there is no shame in modifying. Remember that! It's important. That's a good thing in itself. That means you will grow into the program over time and not outgrow it too soon.;)

I just finished 8 weeks in meso one and I've gained so much stamina AND strength. I didn't realize it how much until I got on my elliptical today with Cardio Coach and had to raise the tension A LOT, just to get me into my training zone! I couldn't believe how much I've gainrd in my legs and lungs!:D

IMO, you should consider the 6 month STS rotation. It is a great way to learn the program and grow with it. It's not difficult to do either because there is so much variety, it doesn't feel like you are repeating the workouts.
I am so happy I decided to do the longer rotation. It's just a great program you can't go wrong.:)

Well Jessica
It is hard to add anything that has not been said...That being said, I just wanted to say that this is the best thing that I have ever done for myself.
I have worked out with a trainer 4 days a week for months and learned alot but nothing has worked for me, as far as gaining strength goes, like this.
I always pushed myself with the trainer but there was not the change ups like there is with STS to really shock my body everytime where it does not know what is coming at all. It seems that it was so well thought out that with doing the one reps to get your percentages that you can really make great gains because your body is able to do that weight for the most part for the time needed. I don't know what else you need to know to be convinced but I can tell you that risking sounding obsessed it has been a real life changer for me.

Cynthia, you just made me realize something. I have never been one to stay on the elliptical for very long. About 30 minutes is my max. This week I did a total of 45 minutes without feeling tired. I could have pushed and gone to one hour, with no difficulty, but I wanted to work the treadmill too. I ended up doing 45 minutes on the ellip. & walked a mile on the TM, at various speeds & incline, and felt great. I never attributed my increase in stamina to STS, until you mentioned it. I am going into week 2 of Meso 2. Personally, I love STS, but I can certainly understand the concerns on the pricing issue. I couldn't recommend a particular Mesocycle, since they are all different from what I've experienced so far :)

I agree that if money is not a problem, I would buy the whole package. I have P90x but couldn't get through a whole 30 days of it before I was subbing in other workouts or just skipping them. I have seldom followed any rotation for more than 3 weeks at a time because they just seem so repetitive and I am a variety junkie when it comes to workouts.

That said, I have followed Cathe's 3 month rotation very closely (only subbed running in for a couple of cardio workouts or moved the Mon workout to Sun to accommodate my schedule). These workouts do repeat footage, but they do it in a new way each week so as to emphasize different muscles and each workout felt fresh to me.

I have just finished the first week of Meso 2 and my legs are still sore from Wed. As others have said, I am lifting MUCH heavier than I would have ever guessed. I have been trying to eat better, but am by no means perfect, yet I am seeing more definition in my abs than I have before.

This workout can accommodate you where ever you are at. Cathe does us a lot of equipment (chair, stability ball, paper plates, band, dumbbells, barbell, etc.) but once you know what is coming it gets a lot easier.

So far, it is my best fitness purchase since my treadmill. Are you sold yet?

That's incredible- Great job!
Cathe said we would become stronger. :)

Go for it!

I was on the fence about STS, even though I'd pre-ordered it when it was first announced.

I am so glad that I didn't cancel! DH and are in the second week of Meso 2 and really enjoy the workout. In fact, when DH said he wanted to do STS with me, I thought he'd drop out after the first week. However, he loves it so much that he wants to start it again when we finish! He says the workout is very "do-able" and he gets up at 5:00 in the morning twice a week to work out with me.

STS is a solid, effective workout. It doesn't take a ton of time (it's only three workouts a week, plus abs, and most workouts are around an hour), but you really get results for your effort. Get the whole package, if you can afford it. Once you get started, I think you'll be glad that you did!

Almost sold...

I'm not concerned with the money as much as I am being able to do it being so fat! I'm also not one that follows routines well. BUT, i'm working of self discipline so...i'm ready for the challenge of following a routine!

I'm also concerned about how much stuff I'll have to buy! All I currently have are paper plates and dumbbells! Oh, and the step and 4 risers, and a high step.

Thanks for taking the time to sell me on it...
Jessica
