Real controversy--Let's talk pie!

Okay, the gloves are off.

It's time to have a serious smackdown debate: Which is better? Pumpkin pie or pecan?

Put on your big girl panties (or big boy shorts, as the case may be) and take a side. If you're considering saying, "I like both," you'll have to defend your case for being "bi-pie." :p

I'll start: Pumpkin rules. Pecan sucks.

How about neither? :D:p

My vote is for Earth Cafe's vegan pumpkin spice cheese cake. YU-MMY!

There we go, change of subject :D:D:D Boy, jonanah, that is one controversial subject, better put your flameresistent suit on.

Bi-pie??? I almost spit out my cereal.

I will say PUMPKIN!!!! :D:D:D:D
I do like pecan also but sssooo much sugar!!! YIKES - either one definately has to be homemade. Years ago I found a lighter version of pumpkin that is delicious!!

Fun thread! :D

Oh god! Pumpkin cheese cake! Yes! The BEST!!! (I haven't tried your particular kind, though).

Sorry, pumpkin pie cheesecake puts both pumpkin pie and pecan pie to shame.

I used to be a pecan girl all the way. Now it's too sweet and makes me ill. I even don't like the pumpkin pie crust anymore. I'll take the filling, please :)

Jonahnah...I LOVE YOU!!! You are always the breath o' fresh air in these forums. Do you write comedy for a living?!? Cause you're freakin' hilarious! PS...Thanks for breaking the awkward death penalty tension with pie humor.

OK...I'm from Texas so if I don't say pecan, I'll get my you-know-what kicked when I go home at Thanksgiving. But really (whispering)...I'm bi. Please don't tell my mother...although she is too, I think.

Pumpkin in the yin to the pecan's yang. You got's to have both. Got's to! And you must consume both pies in one day because if you eat them quickly, they don't have calories.

PS...Does anyone else think it's blasphemous to eat store bought pies on Turkey Day???

Thanksgiving is clearly Pumpkin Pie. Christmas is clearly Pecan Pie. Both homemade, with loads of whipped cream. They are 2 different holidays, and the pies shall not cross holidays. My favorite pie ever? Either my blueberry cream or my rum pie. Rum and whipped cream - what could be better?

IMHO, I think it's blasphemous ANY day to eat a store bought/made pie. Homemade is so much better! :D

I vote neither pumpkin nor pecan. I vote for lemon meringue!! :)

Sweet potatoe pie? Do you make that yourself? Or can you buy in stores. I have never seen it in my neck of the woods. I love me some sweet potatoes.

I think Mrs Smith's makes a Sweet Tater pie, but homemade is infinitely better. Tastes almost like punkin pie, but a little less sweet. Yum!!!!

Last weekend, my boyfriend and I just ate a whole sweet potato pie by ourselves in less than 24 hours!! They are delicious!

A lady I know who has an apple orchard bakes a lot of pies to sell and I mentioned sweet potato to her last year and now she makes them for me (and others!) if I ask real nicely!! I don't know about store bought, but I'm sure if you google 'recipe for sweet potato pie' you can find a good recipe. Around here (western PA) they sell them at a few grocery stores this time of year, but I've never tried them.
