Quantity or Quality in Cathe DVD's???

When it comes to Cathe workouts . . . do you prefer more quality or more quantity?

What I mean is . . .

Cathe put a lot of work and extras into this STS series and it took a long time and effort to produce. And that is great for the people that apprciate the crisp quality of the workout, the beautiful book, the high quality music, the new (professional) cast members, the highly thought out 3 mesocycle rotation, unbelievable variety . . . etc.

But, it took over a year. Would you be happier if she had produced 2 or 3 sets of DVD's in that time that were not as "perfect" or are you glad she put so much time and effort and extras into these????

I'm very glad for the time and effort that went into the extras! I wasn't at all surprised by the wait -- I expected it to take a year, and I don't mind waiting for a high quality product. Cathe has a HUGE library of workouts to choose from so I had plenty to keep me busy while I waited, and it also gave me the opportunity to try some other things, too, like kettlebells.

Another point I'd like to make is that I didn't feel like I was taking a risk by ordering during the presale. I'm not afraid to give her my money up front because I know she's going to deliver. She has an amazing track record that I feel is deserving of my trust... and I got these FANTASTIC workouts for a steal!!! ;)

ITA with all of this!

I couldn't be more thrilled with STS.
It's everything I hoped it would be and more.
I thought is was completely worth the wait. I wouldn't hesitate to pay full price for the program either;)

I'll take quality over quantity. One of the reasons I prefer working out with Cathe DVDs is because of that quality. I find the sets enjoyable to look at even with the passage of time. The sound quality is usually excellent even with the passage of time. The music is good even with the passage of time. One of the reasons I get bored with other workouts I've had is I get tired of the poor sound, or the music being uneven, or the mistakes in editing, etc. And while there are a few of those on Cathe's DVDs in places, her workouts really are, by and large, better produced than any others I have tried.

Just the other day I popped in Step Heat for what I thought would be an easy workout. That was one of my first Cathe videos, and I did it endlessly for quite a few years, though I probably haven't done it in the past 12 months. I enjoyed doing the workout again, even ten years after I first used it (and remembered that it really isn't exactly an 'easy' workout either). I can honestly say that I don't do any other workouts that I was doing ten years ago besides Cathe. I attribute that to not only the quality of the workout itself but the quality of the production of the workout which keeps me from being perfectly bored after the third try.

As far as STS goes, I'm very impressed by the way this program was put together. For me, it was worth the wait for reasons like this: the transitions between the previously used exercises and the new exercises in weeks 2-4 of a mesocycle appear seamless (something I was actually a bit concerned about); the music does fit the exercises and really is clear in illustrating when break is over and exercise begins (which I like); and there are plenty of shots of the other participants to illustrate variations but have been edited so to not make the workouts seem jumpy (which I have found distracting in other workout series of a similar nature).

I see being able to take any disk from STS at any time in the future and use it for whatever purpose I want to use it for and not feel like I'm using a workout from the middle of an established series, and I think that is a tremendous benefit to how STS was produced. I can't begin to believe that I have this many new options for weighlifting in the future, even if I don't do the full series again. And that's an incredible benefit for such a reasonable price.

Hands down quality over quantity! STS was more than worth the wait. I wish every product out there was put together with so much thought and care.

I feel like with 41 dvd's I'm getting both quantity and quality:D--this woman gets my preorder money anytime she announces--like someone else said, I know I can trust her with it.

I am going to start next week and I am so stoked!

I didn't order STS and have no desire to right now. But I do have to say that I have no problems spending more money on a video by Cathe. I know I'll never be disappointed. I love the extras she puts into her workouts, I love the premixes she gives, and she gives the best quality to her workouts. Waiting is hard when you're excited for the workouts, but I know with Cathe it's always worth the wait.

It's quality for me. I've worked out with Cathe for many years so the wait is worth it to me. Besides I have plenty of other workouts to do while I wait! Also, I personally have never been disappointed so it's not a problem to wait.

Quality. And, the beauty of the situation is, because she has been in the business so long, there's a quantity of quality already out there :D

I appreciate the quality of STS, and think it looks beautiful. The splicing of reused footage is seamless, the picture is beautiful, and the sound is perfect.

On the other hand, I'm more interested in DOING the workout than watching it, and other than the first preview, I don't notice the difference between 'good' production and 'wowy excellent' production. (Though I don't want crappy production).

The long time it's taken has meant that other projects, like the MMA series Cathe was contemplating before even announcing STS, have been put on the back burner for too long (IMO).

Also, some of the things that added to production time (seeking out and training the new crew members, having original music composed to synch with the moves) didn't really work for me. IMO, the men add nothing to the mix (and are sometiimes distracting, with some 'deer in the headlights' looks---why in heaven's sake choose that footage to iinclude?--and a look that I personally don't find to be good eye candy), and the music doesn't synch where it is the most important to synch : the rythmic warm-ups (some much more poorly synched than others).

I also think that we could have gotten the same results with 2 weeks of workouts per cycle, repeated once (since there's a lot of repeated footage in some workouts), which would also mean only 6 DVD's per MEso, taking up less room, and maybe being able to be stored in a case that doesn't seem like it will crack or break easily.
