Puzzle mats and paper plates.

I've been experimenting with my puzzle mats and paper plates and can't get them (the plates) to budge. I even tried cardboard and it was worse.

Opinions? Thoughts? Your experiences?

Thanks!

Same problem here!!! :)

Paper plates produce traction... so do plastic ones, so I found the spot on the mat where my sweat is dripping and use it as a "lubricant" to do push-ups or lunges... Not a very professional solution, though.... ;-)

Chris.

P.S. I have ordered the PaviGym Aerobic Flooring for my workout room and I think it would be better in this case.

Why are you using the puzzle mats? Are you on a hard floor? Paper plates (and plastic anything -- I've used DVD covers and they work great) work really well on carpet. What I've found is hard things work well on carpet while soft things work on hard floor (like a rag). I don't know what would work on a puzzle mat though since they're rubbery.

I also have puzzle mats, and I find that gliding discs do work, but they don't move as well as on carpet. Fine if the moves are used to tax the moving leg (thus providing more resistance), but not as good if it's the stationary leg that is being worked (as it puts more work on the moving leg than if the discs slid more easily).

You can get a piece of carpet remnant to use for most of the sliding moves. It looks like a 2 foot by 5 foot piece would work for most moves.

I kinda do the same as Kathryn. I purchased a piece of vynl and put it on top of my puzzle mats and use face towels for gliding. It works fine. I tried everything on the puzzle mats prior to resorting to this and nothing worked.

Remember when the TLT's were filmed? Tracie had to take up the special flooring they had so they could film that portion on the cement gym floor and use cloth rags for gliders.

I use the puzzle mats because I work out on tile floors.

I small piece of carpet is an excellent option. However, I do have a very large beach towel - does it have to be taped down or anchored in any way, you think?

Thanks for the responses, Cathletes!

Good question! I have puzzle mats too and was wondering about this. There are some great suggestions here!
